I didn't get a chance to come back sooner to finish out the month so here goes:

Thu - Instead of the scheduled Core Synergistic (P90X), I did Jillian Michaels' 30-Day Shred Level 2 circuit training workout this morning....approximately 28 minutes of cardio & strength training...no resting in-between.

Fri - X-Stretch was scheduled but I did Winsor Pilates Power Sculpting workout (45 minutes) this morning. It's probably been months or over a year since using this DVD. Throughout this particular workout a resistance band or tube is used, too. It is a full-body workout for the arms, abs & legs. I am done with my official workout week!

Now, on to our December Challenge!

Friday 30 November:

1320/1000 home exercise minutes
6/6 times up the Big Hill
30/28 days Atkins way of eating (allowing 2 cheat days)
30/30 days vitamins
330/600 minutes meditation (not counting meditation class)
30/30 days zero tolerance for criticism of my weight or weight loss efforts
0/2 pounds lost (November start 180, goal 178)

I did fine on everything except for the meditation. As for the pounds, you win some and you lose some, so I'm not too worried.
BFerrell, thank you for the thread this month. I'll post a new one for December.
Congratulations everyone!

Congratulations to ALL!

I wanted to thank everyone for participating in this post. I track my goals like this every month but it sure has been fun with everyone getting involved. It made it so much more fun and made me not lose interest in tracking. I appreciate the concern about walking the dog. The dog gets plenty of exercise she is outside running, playing and chasing the ball most of the day (unless it is too cold). She is my baby!

Again thanks and let me know about December.

No pound lost! I'll get serious about circuit training with light weights next month; that might help.
Tonight was the last meditation class. I even got a certificate. Kewl.

Wednesday 28 November:

1180/1000 home exercise minutes
6/6 times up the Big Hill
28/28 days Atkins way of eating (allowing 2 cheat days)
28/30 days vitamins
330/600 minutes meditation (not counting meditation class)
28/30 days zero tolerance for criticism of my weight or weight loss efforts
0/2 pounds lost (November start 180, goal 178)

Yanks, meditation seems hard to me. And as with other things, I'm finding it hard to develop the meditation habit/find the time. But I'm not going to give up!
BFerrell, have a great December!
Fiona, you will get it back soon, and we'll be here to cheer you on.
Pamela, good luck with whatever workout you choose to do on Thursday.
Tomorrow (Thursday) is my last weigh-in of the month; we'll see if I've lost those 2 pounds. I've had my Before/After fake pictures on the wall for quite a while, with my supposed before and after dates. I noticed that the "After" picture was supposed to become reality in January 2012. So I'm almost a year behind! Ack! I need to get really serious and lose 20 pounds in the next 13 months.

Hi team!

Yanks: Happy belated Birthday to you!! WTG on not gaining that 5lb during last week's festivities...lol. I am hoping to avoid the same come this weekend. We are traveling to a family gathering...a farewell dinner to our son and his wife who are moving to Alaska in January...Brrrr!

Fiona: just ease back into strength exercises...those are my favorite routines.

BFerrell: enjoy your holiday!

Laurie: stretching is always feels good and keeps us flexible.

****

Tue - My player didn't want to read the DVD of P90X workouts so I did Miles 1,2,3 &5 of Leslie Sansone 5 Fast Miles dvd this morning. Approximately 52 mins including the cooldown.

Wed - Slim & Limber (flexibility training) and some Abs work done on the stability ball. 24 minutes workout time. Tomorrow is Core Synergistics but I may find a substitute....LOL!

Goal ---To Burn Off 5000 Calories Weekly-----This week 2140.

Laurie how is the meditation going? I tried that last year, I got into it for about 2 weeks then I gave up. Maybe it's time to go back retrace myself and try it out again.

Fiona, that's moving those pounds and inches.
Pamela, maybe next time will be more fun.
I didn't do any exercise today (other than stretch), and I couldn't get into meditation at all. Oh well, at least I got some work done.

Monday November 26th.

Well I finally got access to my computer, we've been having nothing but problems for the last couple of days.

Anyway, goal to burn 5,000 calories per week today 999. That's a pretty wicked #.

Today is my birthday, we are going out tonight, the party continues. One of my sons had to go home yesterday, my oldest son and his family are staying one more day and is flying back to Portland Oregon tomorrow. After the long holiday weekend (week) I added only 1.8 lbs, I was actually thinking about 5 that's the flux that I have given myself. Well after tonight it's back to my regular program. emoticon

Laurie - you've exceeded your home exercise minutes greatly! And yep, I am into the 5th week of a rotation...time flies when we are having fun...LOL!

Mumsey - keep on moving that body!

Monday - P90X Core Synergistics whipped my butt this morning. I did my best with the more difficult movements and this served as a reminder why this particular workout is one of my least favorite. Why oh why did I select this to do TWICE this week...LOL! I didn't do the bonus round in this workout. Approximately workout time was 53 of 57 minutes dvd.

Hi JogBikeWalk - cute username you have there....good realistic goals for the rest of this month, too.

Below is an outline of the last week of a 5-week rotation. This is my 'Recovery' week and I started this today so that my workout week will end on Friday morning since we will be in Dallas come Saturday.

Week 5 of 5

Mon - Core Synergistics (cardio, stretching, strength)
Tue - KenPo X (cardio)
Wed - Slim & Limber (flexibility)
Thu - Core Synergistics (cardio, stretching, strength)
Fri - X-Stretch (flexibility)

Sun - I started my workout routine today with P90X X-Stretch (58 minutes of total body stretching).

Hi Team! I've been so busy and hardly time to post online for the past few days so I will recap:

Wed - Did the last 12 exercises of P90X back & Biceps and substituted the towel pull-ups with push-ups instead. I really do enjoy working the biceps. Approximately 26 minutes

Thurs (Thanksgiving Day) - Did the second half of Kenpo X (kickboxing) this morning...a great way to start the holiday! approximately 30 mins

Fri - didn't do my scheduled Legs & Back but will do it tomorrow, plus, abs. I did get quite a bit of walking at the Mall today. My left knee is feeling sore.

Sat- First completed a Fast 1 Mile Indoor walk (12 mins) followed by the first half (30 mins) of P90X Legs & Back workout. I am feeling really good!

Shopping with no car today, so that was strenuous, then I lugged all the stuff up the Big Hill--that was really something. No other exercise and no meditation today.
Thank you Yanks for the suggestion, and for reminding us what happens when we go off plan. Good luck with your calorie busting project! Still 2 days left this week. Who knows? It might all sort itself out.

Goal to burn 5000 calories weekly----So far this week 3012. Well I've taken two days off from any type of workouts so this is going to be a tough # to attain this week.

That's what the holidays will do to you . Laurie , it may be time to invest in a digital scale, they are more accurate than the old type. I didn't stick to my food plan and I feel sluggish, and tomorrow the party continues!!!!!

No exercise to report other than the Big Hill. At least I stuck to my diet (no cake). I weighed myself this evening, and I'm just under 180--hard to tell the exact weight on the old-style scale.

I've been feeling so pressed for time, I need a Plan B for long workdays. I have a 15-minute workout DVD, so I did that. I'm posting an additional 5 minutes of exercise every day, as I've started doing neck/shoulder stretches several times a day.
Yanks, try eating just the middle of the sandwich/burger, and just the top of the pizza. Yummy! Good luck.
BFerrell, have a great week!
Pamela, thank you, and congratulations on your progress with the pushups. So inspiring.

Goal to burn 5000 calories per week-----attained--2057.

Well my house is getting filled up both of my sons and their families have arrived. My wife joked maybe we should go out and rent a hotel room, maybe we should.

They love NY pizza, bagels, white castle hamburgers, beers, black&white cookies, kosher deli, so we accommodate them, I keep telling myself it's only for one week. Right now I'm feeling sluggish because of all the carbs. emoticon

Hi Team!

Laurie - sending you a gentle hug and hope that feeling of overwhelmed goes away very soon. Thank you for the comment on my push-ups. It's been at least 2-3 years for me to be able to do even one on my knees and finally multiple on my toes.

Tue - Decided to do a power-walk outdoors this morning (52 mins) followed by Abs exercises using a stability ball (10 mins). It was nice to change up my cardio scenery by taking it outdoors...sunny and 70 degrees.

Monday 19 November:

930/1000 home exercise minutes
4/6 times up the Big Hill
19/28 days Atkins way of eating (allowing 2 cheat days)
19/30 days vitamins
300/600 minutes meditation (not counting meditation class)
19/30 days zero tolerance for criticism of my weight or weight loss efforts
0/2 pounds lost (November start 180, goal 178)

BFerrell, an acquaintance was telling me about rubbing oil on sore joints and how well it worked, only I think it was olive oil. I didn’t pay much attention at the time. Anyway, I sure hope it brings you relief!
Pamela, your two-arm, two-feet pushups are plenty impressive.
Yanks, you’re right on schedule!
I’ve been feeling overwhelmed, so I just did 5 minutes of neck & shoulder stretches today.

Mon - I did the second half of P90X Chest, Shoulders & Triceps DVD this morning. I was able to perform 62 push-ups throughout this session with 20 from the toes. I did modify those Clap or Pyo Push-ups, One-arm Balance Push-ups, and One Arm Push-ups...whoa. Approximately 28 minutes of strength training.

Yanks - thanks for the encouragement and BIG congrats on your finishing the 5k!!

Laurie - just saying "Hi"!!

RyckJung - you are ROCKIN' it!! Like your attitude about getting through the upcoming holiday, too.

BFerrell - have you ever tried BioFreeze? It is a pain relieving gel and is greaseless, stainless, and has a vanishing scent but works REALLY well for arthritis, sore muscles & joints, plus for back pain.

Pamela...Central Texas

My November Goals are:

As of Nov. 18:
1. 1500 minutes of cardio: 606/1500
2. 250 minutes of strength training: 36/250
3. 500 minutes walk the dog: 45/500
4. Track food everyday: 11/30

Finally walked the dog one day this weekend. Need to do it more often, but like everyone else, there just isn't enough hours in the day. Started putting Castor oil on my elbows, my sister swears by it for pain/stiffness. Raked leaves this weekend, which didn't help the good old elbows. Doesn't seem to bother too much while I am doing it, but last night and this morning the motion was real limited and SORE!

Calories burned 678 ,that's as of 3:30---objective----5000,

Well this morning I participated in a 5k event all went well. It was a bit nippy at the start(32 degrees) of the race however I was dressed appropriately. Shorts--with compression underwear---a sweat shirt ---with a compression T-Shirt. As a matter of fact I could have done without the sweat shirt and ran with a long sleeve running shirt.

I'm happy to say that I made the podium, with a 29:59, time. I'm still way off of my PR however I do not participate in these events to attain a record. I do them just to prove that you can come back from almost any type of ailment. emoticon

My goal is to stay on track. Keep finding ways to get daily exercise in. Making better choices when it comes to food. Keep an eye on portion control. Not get to concerned if I don't lose weight during the holiday season as long as I don't gain weight. Keep moving towards my first weight goal which is only 5 lbs away.

Yanks - sounds like your plans for Thanksgiving Day is going to be so nice with your family around. I am preparing for just the three at our home (hubby, youngest son, me) so the onslaught of food won't be too bad...LOL!! You are very close to those weekly caloric goals.

Laurie - yep, TG is a BIG family deal here in the States for sure....almost bigger than Christmas or equal to...lol.

Friday - Instead of P90X Legs & Back, I substituted CLX Lower Body Extreme Zone (41 mins) working every muscle in legs. The use of dumbbells was incorporated with some of the leg movements. Many lunges in this workout.

Saturday - Completed 3 miles of Leslie's Fast 5 Miles DVD this morning...total body muscle walk...feeling good! Approximately 40 minute workout.

I just got a call from a friend of mine, she wants to run in a 5k this Sunday and asked me if I was interested. I am going to take her up on this, an impromptu event without any severe training should be fun. emoticon

Halfway through the month already. I got a new battery in my car, so I'm going to town tomorrow. I have a 1980 Olds 98 with an electrical system straight out of the X-Files.
Wow, Pamela, intensity! These days I'm more into slow and steady.
Yanks, right on schedule with the calorie burning. Americans sure go all out for Thanksgiving. Here in Canada it isn't such a huge deal, and our TG is in early October anyway, so our winter "holiday season" is short. I hope you have a good time with your family.

Thursday November 15th,

Goal 5000 calories weekly------Attained----3318.

Wow it's only one week to go for Thanksgiving, where did the Fall go? Due to the storm the past two and a half weeks have been a blur. One of my sons is flying in with his family from Portland Oregon this Monday, my second son will be driving down from Mass.on Tuesday. My daughter and her family live local so her trip will be a matter of minutes. It looks as though we are having 16 guests for dinner.

What I'm trying to do is prepare myself mentally for the onslaught of food and drink!!!!! emoticon

Thursday - it was a kickboxing (KenpoX) day but the DVD didn't want to play right and the copy on my PC was in a room I didn't want to exercise in today. So, I substituted another high intensity interval workout called CLX Burn It Off! which is like doing athletic drills throughout...lol. It may have only been 27 minutes BUT it felt like much longer...whew.

Laurie - thank for the tip and I opened another window so I can read other's replies at the same time that I want to type and post a reply...lol.You are moving along nicely with your goals.

Yanks - grand kids are rambunctious and keep us young...lol. My DD has 3 boys (12, 6, 4) with another boy on the way!! We have no grand daughters, yet...lol Have a great workout sometime today.

Wishing everyone a pleasant day.

Pamela...Central Texas

BFerrell, sorry about the sore elbows. I hope that sorts itself out soon. Yeah, this time change sux! Who needs extra darkness on winter nights???
Pamela, I type my replies in MS Word so I can go back and forth between the thread and my reply. When I’m finished referring to the thread I hit Reply, and copy and paste my Word doc into the reply box. OR you can open another window in Firefox or whatever browser you use. Have both in Sparkpeople, but in one you read the thread and in the other you hit Reply and start typing, toggling back and forth between the two windows. Hope that makes sense.
Yanks, sometimes we can’t exercise every single day. No biggie!
I guess the cold was a false alarm. It all seemed to clear up within a day. Thank you for your kind wishes.

I wish that we could view members previous posts at the same time that we are typing a reply. It would make it simpler to reply to one another.

Tuesday - Instead of doing Leslie's 5 mile walk, I substituted with a high intensity interval workout (CLX Burn Intervals). Boy...it was a BLAST of a cardio workout with use of small weights for muscle endurance. I was sweating from every place with this 46 minute session.

Wednesday - It was a "glamour muscles" workout session known as P90X Shoulders & Arms (triceps, biceps) and a good session it was. I was able to increase dumbbell sizes for eight of twelve exercises that required weights. I did the Bonus Round, too. Again, I completed one set of each of the 15 exercises of this workout (30 minutes) and followed with a few Oblique w/Stability Ball abs moves.

Laurie - hope that you are feeling better.

Dale - it is great to see you back posting...take care.

BFerrell - keep on moving...hope those elbows feel better soon.

Pamela...Central Texas

Thank you, Yanks. I felt okay this evening, so I did 75 minutes of exercise.
It's so great to have clear goals. For example, I'm tempted to remain friendly with certain people, but I can't trust them to shut up about my weight or what I eat, so I need to stay away. Simple!

I slept in really late today. It turns out that "the cold that's going around" finally caught up with me. I researched whether it's okay to exercise with a cold, and it seems that as long as it's just a head cold (no lung congestion, heavy coughing, etc.) it's okay, and maybe even a good idea. Meanwhile, the Sparkpeople site will be down for maintenance tonight during the time that I usually check in. I might skip the exercise this evening; I'll see how I feel.
Good luck everyone,
Laurie
