I stayed on track with my "Forever Plan" so far this year! Even while out of town last weekend. Traveling normally derails me, but not this time as I was prepared.

Just re-read my promise to me for January and I've kept it. I've walked over 10000 steps at least 5 days out of 7 and I've done yoga practice at least twice a week. Being on the 10000 steps has been a good motivator since I started the challenge mid month. So I'm a happy January SPARK emoticon

Yesterday I did 60 min of jazzercise and 10 min of yoga. My eating is on track. I know I am gaining muscle but the weight is slow coming off.
Looking forward to the February challenge.
We are expecting unusually beautiful weather for today. I plan to get outside for a walk.
Have a good day everyone.

one more day of January . boy these months are flying by.

I got into my garage and tossed a bunch of things I dont need. Charity picking up tomorrow..

Looking around at my bedroom wondering why I havent finished painting it. No good reason in the world. I think I am becoming the supreme procrastinator.

Eating is reasonable and Im sore again from those kettlebells but thats ok. emoticon

Good Morning to the Spark Promise Makers,

I've been out here in Oregon for the past week, just a quick note to say that I completed the Mt Tabor run this past week, something I've wanted to do for the past few years.

When I get back I'll have to get into my correct eating habits, they have gone by the wayside while I've been vacationing. I have been using the hotel treadmill everyday before we get rolling, thats not going to happen today.
Thanks Spark.

Adrienne,
I take it you still work and cannot walk in the middle of the week? I ask because when I do something one time a week it's harder on me than if I do it twice. Your plan is a wonderful one and keeping this commitment will have you jogging eventually, doncha think? emoticon

I love that you took the feeling of rejection and put it to your advantage. Sometimes loosening up the habits we have include relationship stuff, too. Well, Ms. Thang, I'm proud of you.

Every Saturday for the last three years my hubbie and I have gone to a little breakfast place we love called Hobee's and catch up on the week. Last year my DH retired and became very involved in a Saturday morning "Vintage" Softball League (you have to be 55 to play) and our tradition has morphed to satisfy his softball schedule. Sometime it's more like lunch at our favorite breakfast place because he has an early game first or it's a time constrained breakfast because he has a late game to get to. I felt a little put upon because he has added this fun activity to his Saturdays and I'd been left out in the cold. Enter SparkPeople and my new commitment to get healthy, get fit and get skinny. So sometime around this past July, I've started to either walk the 3 miles to our little Breakfast place at a nice easy pace and meet my DH at Hobee's or walk the 3 miles back to our house after breakfast while he goes off in the car to play.

This morning I decided to make this addition to my fitness plan really help me. So I left later and only allowed myself 50 minutes to get to our Hobee's rendezvous and was able to achieve my first 15 3/4 minute miles. Next week I plan to only allow 45 minutes for the 3 mile trek and see if I can make it on time. Wish me luck!

having a very lazy day, I think this will be a no exercise day, hopefully I will get close to my 10,000 steps on my walk, but right now I am just real lazy feeling. I am taying on a pretty even keel as far as my calories go, I have been craving salt big time, and ate a handful of fritos, I know I should not have them in my house, but my DH likes them too, so once in a while

NJ,
Yeah, weather is great here, too in Maryland. But don't kick yourself in the butt. We do the best we can with what we've got on our plates. Oh no, what a pun!!@!

I'm off to a walk. I can't seem to keep myself even at 170 (today I'm 173) but that's not the point. The point is to get out there and be in the NOW.

love to all,
Dale

Im actually doing better in generals with eating..................... I ate out last night and had an appetizer and salad - and I was fine with that. In the past I would have had to also order a meal............ but am working on eating smaller portions a little more often.......... especially for dinner. I also had a nice glass of red wine and no dessert. the wine was dessert.

The weather here in NJ is unusually warm - so time to pull out my bike and get started riding again. I didnt do much running or riding since Thanksgiving. SHAME ON ME.

Kicked the weekend off going to an oldies concert last night at a wonderful old renovated theatre in Jersey City nj. It was terrific.

Today is a cleaning day.................. everyone enjoy your weekend.

Hi everyone,
Lost a few ounces on my weigh in yesterday, woohoo. It sure beats that gradual increase for the last few weeks. Yesterday I did a new very intense exercise dvd and I liked it and I have been tracking and eating very well with NO bad choices for the last 3 days. Hope it pays off!
Have a good weekend.

I ate good today, in the middle of my calories, but way low yesterday, I got my 10,000 steps, and had a nice walk. I went out to lunch with friends but kept it reasonable and vegetable soup this evening so, I can fill up on that and not get many, and I made it, so low sodium. Mu tossing today did not happen, but I have plans for tomorrow.

There was some decluttering yesterday with the help of a friend instead of a walk. I don't like the scale but do feel relieved to have made any progress on any pile around here. There's so much to go.

February be sweet to yourself rather than get sweets for yourself.

Good morning!
Yesterday I ate well except for a few tortilla chips because I couldn't resist the fresh salsa, yum!
For exercise, I walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes and I bowled in the morning.
Today I am off to my 1hr morning aerobics class. I am hanging in there this month.
Have a great day!

water is my favorite drink too, I made a big pot of cabbage soup today, and it was hot today, but it sure tastes good. so I will have to get my fill of it, lots of nutrition and just a few calories, I have my steps in, and went to aerobics and really worked out and I am being good to myself, my de-cluttering is not doing real good.

Did much better with eating..................... drank 2 large water bottles . I now have my designated water bottle and am trying to drink 2 per day. I take it with me whenever I leave the house. its so easy to drink that while Im driving. It also seems to curb my appetite a bit.
\ I do have to admit I know where every ladies room is in every store.............................. but i think its a good habit to keep up.

I have been doing a kettle bell workout almost every day. I have a dvd that ive been using but I also found a great 12 minute workout on youtube................. so now Im doing one workout on the dvd ( thats about 10 minutes) and then I add on the youtube one. Quite a workout and I like it alot. Im a little sore................ emoticon but thats ok. I alternate body parts each day so Im not doing the same workout. There are 3 workouts on the dvd - plus a warm up and a cool down. Im going to continue this into Feb.

speaking of Feb................................. we are keeping the "promise" theme for Feb - any ideas for a promise for Feb?

have a great day everyone.................emoticon....................emoticon

I'm not usually a new year's resolution type of person. Just sick and tired of the tight pants, you know what I mean? After one week tracking, etc., they fit better already! I've always been a big exersizer, well at least for the last 15 years. I just have an appetite to match! love the "spark".

Fell in love and put on 22 lbs over the last two years. Still in love but refuse to buy a larger wardrobe. I"ve lost four pounds since the beginning of the year. Not as easy in your fifties as it was in the thirties thats for sure. Been doing laps with the kids at school. Journaling helps to regulate my portions once again.

If it is about how we feel, I feel great, I went to aerobics class this morning, and have got 40 minutes on my tredmill so far, the rain will probably keep me in, I am eating wisely today, and most of my water is taken, so this week will be a good one.

Yanks- we all boo hoo once in awhile....................... and then we pick back up and get started again.......... emoticon Im just glad you made healthy choices ........ Im figuring it cant be all about what some dumb scale says ------------ we have to be healthy first. Lots of other numbers are considered in that health formula before the number on the scale. emoticon

Ok - so it snowed this weekend - no running - walking or bike riding outside for a few more days. Im doing my kettlebells and enjoying it. and Im eating properly.

everyone kick off this week doing whats right for you.................. make that your promise.

everything else will follow...

Hi Everyone!
Welcome to our newcomers!
Everyone is doing such a great job this month. You are so committed and you inspire me.
I had to step back for a few days and take a break. I was feeling consumed with having to lose weight. I was barely eating and not losing anything and was very discouraged, not too mention feeling too weak to exercise very much. So I decided to not even think about it for the weekend. The good news is I still made all healthy food choices, I did not exercise but started again first thing this morning for 60 min at my jazzercise class. I am the same weight that I started in January and hopefully will lose a lb by the end of the week. I am finished Boohooing, I am feeling stronger and I can do it!!!
YANKS, have a great trip!

Hey there, all.
You have been a good influence on me. Thank you for being here!

Since posting with you I've had the best week in months on the scale. I've had no appetite conflicts and stayed on plan. May this continue to be the reality for me. There is much I want to accomplish.

Tonight the water aerobic class starts. I'm looking forward to the 'push'.

I have been sick and have had no appetite but I have eaten to feel better. I plan to start back tomorrow on my protein breakfast smoothies. They make me feel the best and help me feel good about myself. I have been out of town at my parents' for most of the month and as soon as I got back home I got an awful cold or something. I want to start the week swinging. I am suppose to give blood tomorrow at our church blood drive but I know they won't take it with me sick. I am planning to sleep in tomorrow to get my 8 hours if I can, if not that will be my aim for tomorrow night. Got back on spark too late to do it differently tonight. Good look everyone and keep it going.

Sunday the day of rest, well, I had family over for breakfast, biscuits, gravy, sausage, fried potatoes and all the trimmings, needless to say, I ate good today, and they stayed for dinner, so, my day of rest was cooking, and playing with my great grand son, it was great, I am still working on my 10,000 steps, on the tredmill, hope I make it.

Good afternoon,

Boy it's quiet around here today. We are getting ready for our trip on Tuesday, being the free spirit I'll guess I'll pack tomorrow. How can I travel so light and my wife will have about 4 bags for a 10 day trip?

Keeping my promise to myself I got in a 10 mile am run after church on a treadmill, man am I feeling strong(and hungry). Bring on that mountain!!

Go Big Blue,

I like CTEMPLE am a newbie to the team. My goal this month is to make 10,000 steps at least 5 days out of 7 and I'm going to do regular yoga work outs - starting at 2 a week and see how I can build that up.

I ate good today, and walked 70 minutes, my only other exercise was a 14 minute video, my January challenge, but plenty of water, and I am doing real good with my junk food, which is a plus, my 10,000 steps will happen, but I am a bit short right now.

Reading all your posts it makes me feel that I ought to get moving this week.As KSANDIEGO no problem with healthy eating, just too much and real problem with exercise.
Will try harder this week, very hard to get motivated with the heat.

oh you are are being so good in here, I'm so happy for you! Its finally started raining here in sunny San Dieo, so today I'm stuck inside cleaning house and making nutrious snacks, soups, and other goodies for the week ahead. I was very good yesterday, burned over 860 calories doing a big DVD carido blast and long walk. In 3 wks I've lost 10 lbs, but have another 10 to go and that wil be the REAL 10 lbs that count I suspect. But I've been very motivated by Spark and it has really kept me going so I'm pumped to keep at it and do my fitness. the healthy eating isn't so hard for me, I've always been into that, but getting moving has been my problem. Next weekend we're having a Spark Rally to walk around SD Bay, so I'm looking forward to that - shld be fun!

I got hoodwinked by my son yesterday to work on his gaining another form of access to my computer instead of going for my scheduled walk. This was a poor decision, since he rarely finishes a project with me anyway. Today that east coast white has finally baptized us in Maryland for 2012.

I can go clear off my car now just for the exercise, small though it is. My eating has been more healthy but still I have a long way to go.

Good Morning,

I was checking out the original promises that I committed to in the beginning of the month, one was achieving 200 miles running/walking/jogging. I'm closing in on that it looks as though I have better tan 170 miles in and it's the 21st.

We got about 3 to 4 inches of snow last night , perfect for a morning exercise. Last year as you folks here on the east coast are very aware of we already accumulated over 40 inches.
I don't miss that.

Take it easy have a healthy weekend.

Ctemple, I too am 10 pounds over my goal weight, I got there predtty easy actually, I mean I was good and I exercised and the whole 9 yards, and I still do, but I went back up to 127 and here I sit, I go 3 weeks being so good, and nothing happens, I am stronger, and much healthier, which is all good, but lordie, I do wish I could drop these unwanted pounds.
I have had a good day, walked for 70 minutes at a good pace, and did my 10 minute video challenge, that is it today, I ate right, got my fruits and vegies, 10 glasses of water, a bit low on my fiber, but other than that, everything is spot on.
and I did not lose any weight, so maybe next week, right?

Hi Girls, today marks 3 week since my January promise and although I had a week sick, I managed to lose 4 pounds but not exercise in a consistent way.
In 3 days it will be my 4th sparkversary and Although I would have liked to be lighter I am 5kg or 10lbs above my original weight goal achieved in March 2008. I know it's better to put on half the weight back than all the weight back, but it pains me.

I feel recovered, my gastric system is better so I'm all for continuing wit my 1500 cals a day and definitely trying to go back to treadmill and weights, I 'm still l doing pilates. I have back and neck problems and exercise always brings consequences no matter how careful I am.
Very hot and humid here in OZ and that doesn't help with the exercise, although I have no excuse I have A/C.

NJJAZZ and YANKS10 great to train for something as a goal.
To the others good luck in you water aerobics and kettle endeavours although 10lbs seems a lot to start with.

Good afternoon all,

Keeping with the theme, I finished up another day of training so my promise to myself remains consistent. ( I ran 13.31 miles on the tm this morning)

My Friday weigh in went okay, I think I'll drop the scale thing for a couple of weeks and see what happens.

Jazz, 40 miles? you better get plenty of padding for your seat. Take a couple of extra towels with you , you may need them for various reasons. Even if it's a cool day be sure to water up or powerade up. A couple of protein bars to munch on as you are touring may help.

I think SunnyMary does a lot of biking maybe she can give you some tips. It's a very exciting objective, go for it.

Finish Strong.

NJ,
My son lives in Brooklyn and told me all about that bike ride. He said it's really cool. I'll ask if he's going to train for it. He smokes.

Kettleballs are outside my experience. What I'm about to do is 8 weeks of water aerobics to help stir up my metabolism.

I'm sure I can add to that with a home dvd and park walks in the cold.

way to go Jazz, sounds like a great idea, and I bet at least 10 pounds. the last time I was on a bicycle was a few years ago, at the beach, and I ran straight into a retaining wall (concrete) about 20 seconds after I got on it. headfirst, my arm, leg, and face were a mess, and we were over a mile from the car so I gave up bicycles on the spot.
I just do not have what it takes.
but I am getting my walking in, and my exercise, and water and pretty good on the food, so lets at least hope I maintain.
