Hi All,

Went out yesterday to celebrate the New Year early with friends. We went out to dinner at a restaurant that we'd been talking about going to eat at, but never actually got around to it until yesterday. Had a nice dinner with dessert and then went back to our friends' home for a visit. Looked at their oldest daughter's wedding pictures and caught up on other things. Made plans to go out together again sooner rather than yearly.

Youngest came home to say hi, clean up, take a short nap and then go out again over to friends house for a New Year's party. He's the DD, so I don't have to worry about him drinking. He's not much of a drinker, so I really don't have much to worry about anyway.

Hubby & I are staying home because we aren't much on being out late.

Hope everyone that's celebrating has a great time and are staying safe.

Home from my big New Year's Eve bash!

Went to my mom's for dinner with my Aunt Betty, Aunt Nancy, Uncle Jim, Dad, cousins Heidi, and Jim! Had a good dinner, and then came home.

The rest stayed a while yet, but they will all be gone before 9:00pm I am guessing.

Want to wish all of my friends here a great new year, and much happiness and serenity in that new year.

Thank you all for being there for me during 2011, and am looking forward to spending more time with you all during the next year!

One day at a time, we will move along on our journey!

God Bless

SAB plan only for today. You can do it! Don't think about tomorrow, because you don'T HAVE tomorrow!!
Plan, plan plan!!! The afternoon is the time our seritonin horomone (the one that controls how tired or energtic we feel) is the lowest. We tend to feel less in control. Plan a snack for that time. Plan the snack, & then the time you are going to eat it. And then make yourself stop. Practice it daily. It has worked for me.
Happy New year!

Happy New Year's Eve,

Mel, I was up just after 5 and flipped on the TV and the news showed Sydney's fireworks for the New Year. How exciting for me! I miss you here on the boards and I was just talking about you to Bonnie on her blog a little while ago. I hope you are doing well these days.

I hope you all have a safe and sane New Year's.

It's still New Years Eve day here in Florida, a nice balmy morning full of sunshine.

A pilot landed a plane with a rather bumpy landing. As part of his job he was required to stand by the terminal door and say goodbye to the passengers as they exited the airplane.

He was afraid that someone might say something about his rather less than perfect landing.

(Story continues below)

However, everyone left without saying a word except for one passenger, an elderly lady, she approached the pilot after most passengers had exited the plane and asked, "Did we land? Or were we shot down?"

Happy New Year everyone! Supposed to be snow, freezing rain, etc today. I did really BAD over Christmas with the eating, now I am starting over, going on my treadmill, bicycle and watching portion sizes. My worst time for eating is in the afternoon if I could just duct tape my mouth shut it would be nice. Have a nice day everyone.

Welcome to the team. We are always happy to have a new person to help us and to help. Just take today, forget about yesterday, and take care of tomorrow when it becomes today!

My way of saying "One day at a time".

BRENDA

I am thinking that you are making so much money, I will be asking you to float me a loan! LOL Really glad that is working well for you.

Mom came over this morning and brought me a few things from the grocery and did one load of laundry for me. Then had aqua therapy at 3:00pm.

I am planning on just spending tomorrow and most of the rest of the weekend at home just resting. Had some plans for Sat, and decided I did not want to go, so I cancelled. Will do something if I have the energy. Just not going to have any commitments right now.

We had sunshine this afternoon, so that made me feel good. The weatherman is talking on TV right now about the rain, snow etc that we might be getting, but I am taking that one day at a time as well.

Hope you are all having a great day, and have another one tomorrow.

Good Day Sparklers --- sounds like everyone enjoyed Christmas in their own way -- this cold spell passing through is hard to take after the couple of weeks of above average temps --- by tomorrow we should be back to normal, but another cold front is headed our way next week.
Boo, Hiss to that --- Looking forward to the New Year and keeping healthy eating a part of my life --

Blessings, Sam

Welcome, Lucinda! This is a great team and you will meet lots of new friends to help you along your journey to healthy choices.

We have been having a different rain/wind storm everyday this week and will continue through the weekend but no snow except in the mountains. Ski resorts need more snow!

When I went down to get my mail yesterday there was a thank you note from our manager for the doll dress potholders and dish cloths that I crochet and gave her for Christmas. While I was sitting visiting with residents she came out of her office and said she wanted to buy some for bingo prizes so I took down the box that I have made and she was picking out colors, then residents started buying them and after it was all done, I had sold over $100 and have orders for more. So I have to fire up my crochet hook.

My friends are moving to the next town (about four miles away) this weekend so I collected some boxes and took them over yesterday afternoon right in the middle of a rain storm and they were happy to see me. I went to Michael's craft store to check out their cotton yarn but they don't have much of a selection anymore so that will be a problem. I walked over to Walmart to check their supply and they had a lot of the big spools. My problem is getting the colors I want so am hoping they will get more in after the holidays are over. By the time I got back to my car I was soaked clear through but I did have a sweater under my coat. By the time I got back home I looked like something the cat drug in. LoL Actually, it was refreshing taking a walk in the rain.

Today is our monthly birthday party and then council meeting right after so it will be a busy afternoon. Now that Christmas is over I am in a better frame of mind. New Year's is no big deal as far as making me sad. It is a new beginning.

Bonnie, have a good rest this weekend. You defiantly need a break to rest your back. You are our cheerleader and we need you healthy.

Lynn, you survived Christmas and you will be getting better as time goes on. It is said that we need to go through all the special days for the first year before we really start to heal. It's been just over five years since I found myself alone and every event is still hard but this Christmas I did join in a couple festivities and didn't cry so I am making progress, albeit slowly.

Sending good thoughts to everyone.

I did very badly during the holidays. Ate way to much junk food. Now I need to get back on track and lose the last 7 lbs. I also need to restart my fitness plans (though I am really struggling to do this. I walk a lot but I don't really do any of the exercises. (I have never been a physically active person. When I took care of my adults (with disabilities), I used to run around a lot, lots of bending, lifting, that sort of stuff so I felt physically fit. Now that I am no longer a caregiver I really need to get fit.

Happy New Year everyone.

I hope the beach does cheer you up. I have always loved going to the beach when Im blue. There is something about the sound of the water hitting the shore and sun warming your skin. Not to mention the vitamin d you are soaking in. Good luck and I hope all is well soon.

Hi, I'm Lucinda and I haven't been with the team long enough to know everyone. It sounds like you all had a good Christmas very busy getting ready for it. I did enjoy the jokes from RW! Christmas Eve my Daughter and Niece hosted the get together. It was sub sandwiches and all finger foods, present exchange and a visit from Santa Clause. The little kids were perfect Angles while he was there. Christmas Day my Daughter call and needed 7up and help because she had been sick all night and in a lot of pain. I went over and ended up taking her to the ER to get hydrated and pain medication. Stayed till late evening and went home to bed. Mom invited me over for lunch the next day so I was able to have all the Christmas dishes to try. Unfortunately the holidays have not been kind to my waist line. Or I should say I have no will power with all the once a year goodies. I have been doing very well with my gluten free diet till thanksgiving arrived then I kind of went crazy with all the wrong foods being served. My own fault. The New Year is around the corner and it will be better for all. I wish you all a safe and Happy New Year. Lucinda emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I will do my best to meet and surpass my goal. Never stop learning or trying to achieve success. Never give up keep plugging away. If it is to be it's up to me. .

The week flew by!! I read the posts to catch up on everyone. Had a nice Christmas dinner with family and friends. The weather was cold & wet, but the gathering was warm. I cooked a simple Pot Roast for dinner with carrots, potatoes, celery & mushrooms. For dessert we had pumpkin and pecan pies with ice cream. I don't know where my brain went, but I (again) forgot to add the sugar to the Pumpkin pie. It was eatable, but not as tasty as it could have been.

Spent Monday recovering from all the Christmas activities, while Hubby & Youngest went to a movie with friends. I didn't go because I usually fall asleep and because it was a male bonding group, so I would have been out of place.

Tuesday was spent cleaning and straightening the house & paying bills. And today was spent being a volunteer "Victim" for an emergency training activity. Hubby & I spent the morning hours mostly waiting, while they set up the drill. In the afternoon we were put in our designated areas and then waited some more before the action started. It was a police emergency drill, where they went through the building looking for a suspect. Several of the volunteers were made up as victims with various wounds, complete with "blood".

Because it started early, they provided donuts for breakfast & pizza for lunch. I did not indulge, but it was tempting. Hubby did have some coffee & a jelly filled donut for his morning snack & a slice of pizza for lunch and another after the drill was over. I stuck with water & the snack that I'd brought with me. It was cold, rainy and windy, so a good day to be indoors.

Tomorrow is suppose to be sunny, but still cold & windy. Hubby & I plan on going to look at appliances and cabinets for the kitchen, to get a better idea of how much they will cost.

Can't believe that the new year is just around the corner. We plan on celebrating on Friday with friends.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Glad to know you made it through Christmas.

Brenda,

Hope yours turned out as well.

MARY

Hope you did ok.

For the rest of you with family losses making the season difficult, just glad you made it through, and will get through the New Year as well.

RW

Glad you are having great weather. Loved the joke as usual

I enjoyed the holiday, and the other parties, but I am totally exhausted. I had plans for New Years Eve Day, but I have decided to just stay home. Had therapy today, and will have it tomorrow at 5:30pm. Then, my plan is just to rest.

I am glad I was able to enjoy what I did, but now must work on rebuilding my strength. My back is stiff and sore from sitting so many places that were not set up for my back, so it is good to be home where I am totally set up for me!

I spoke to the woman in charge of the scholarship program at the facility where I have been taking my therapy. She has assured me that I will be getting the scholarship for next year. Her supervisor has been on vacation, and she has to sign off for it.

Can't afford to have therapy in the new year because of insurance deductible. So, it will be good to go to the same place, with the same equipment that I have been using in therapy. The therapists will also be there. I can just continue my program in the gym, and in the swimming pool. That is a blessing for sure. It won' t cost me as much the scholarship I had at the Y, so that will be good also.

Hoping that you are all having a good week, and wishing you all a very wonderful new year!

God Bless my friends.

Woo Hoo! You got a new elliptical. It is good your husband is supportive of you. Mine is too. My mp3 player broke & yesterday he let me order a new one as an early birthday present. I use it when I am on the treadmill, so since my other broke it has been challenging, to say the least! Hope you all are having a wonderful day!

I had a really nice Christmas this year. Stepson Tim and grandson William came up to stay with us from last Wed. through Christmas Eve. This was a real treat for hubby. Then we went to my Mom's for a traditional Norwegian Christmas Eve dinner. My sister in law did the cooking and this year we brought it to Mom - she's 90 years old. It was so special for her to have her son, daughter, daughter in law, son in law, and granddaughters together.
The only one missing was my son - but he sent a framed picture he took of her holding her only great grandchild - my grandson Anthony, as well as a 4 generation picture of her, me, my son, and Anthony. She placed them on her mantle and still hasn't stopped looking at them.

Christmas Day was spent at my best friend's house (she is also my husband's ex-wife but that is a story for another day). My stepdaughter and her husband were there as well as other relatives and friends. Camille is an outstanding cook so it was hard to maintain control.

Tomorrow my son and daughter in law are coming to me for dinner with my little Anthony, so the Christmas fun continues.

I am so lucky to have a supportive husband. He gave me a really good elliptical for Christmas. It came today and really gives me the challenging workout I need.

Hope all of you had a good holiday - and a Happy New Year to all if I don't get a chance to post again.

I can relate to feeling disappointed as Teejay51! Hub made cookies, cheesecake and gave me 2 containers of chocolate candy for "Christmas"! We have no family here (just son left at home and he's a senior in high school). So sabotage was my Christmas present! Wow!

I survived thru Christmas too but was very disappointed in my husband's family. They know I'm trying to lose weight, but guess what they gave me for Christmas? Box of Chocolate Covered Cherries, Box of cookies, and a small gift bag filled with chocolate candies!!! Talk about being supportive! My husband was thoughtful and nice to take them to work and let his coworkers eat them. I thought families were supposed to be "there for you." Not my husband's. Mine have all crossed over (passed away) so I'm the only family member.

Elizacg9, I'm sorry to hear about your father's passing. Just toast him with a small glass of eggnog (no alcohol), and remember the good times. Holidays are hard for me too, since I don't have my family anymore. Hugs to you.

Morning, just cold, no snow....resting, the treadmill does not work so now, what to do? as far as fitness schedule.......wait till later and walk the dogs is my only option or use some tapes. I prefer outdoors! New Years is sad because it was my Fathers birthday but he is not alive anymore......so I don't drink.

Hi, I survived Christmas! Christmas Eve I just stayed home and watched the Hallmark channel. Christmas Day I got up at 6:30 am and went to my daughter's in my jammies and watched the grand kids open their presents. Later (after a nap) my friend Mary came over, we played cribbage and the went to my daughter's for dinner. All of my kids checked in and I am glad this one is over. Less than a week and we start a new year.....yay. It was 45 degrees here yesterday. Break out the shorts!

After explaining about latitude, longitude, degrees and minutes, the teacher asked, "Suppose I asked you to meet me for lunch at 23 degrees, 4 minutes north latitude and 45 degrees, 15 minutes east longitude?"

After a confused silence, a voice volunteered, "You'd be eating alone."

My 2 favorites are:
6 oz vanilla yogurt, frozen peaches, 4 oz skim milk and 3 ice cubes.
6 oz vanilla yogurt, frozen blueberries, 4 oz skim milk and 2 ice cubes.
If I'm out of fruit, I just use flavored yogurt (cherry vanilla and tropical fruit are my favorites) and add a couple more ice cubes!

Good Morning Sparksters, it is a mild morning and will be pleasant until the cold front comes through this afternoon --- have been so spoiled with unseasonably warm weather for the last few weeks -- about 10 degrees above normal --- that is certainly better then last winter when we were constantly below normal. Purchased a smoothie maker for my hubby for Christmas.
Looking forward to making our first smoothie with some fresh strawberries, banana and yogurt.

Anyone have a good smoothie recipe? Do have a marvelous day and a great week.

Good morning everyone! I'm looking forward to getting back into my routine. I'll be heading to the gym shortly. My step son and his girlfriend are here, but they are heading home soon.DH just left for work. I just looked in my workout logbook and see that I haven't worked out since Nov 16!! Oh my..time to reign that in. Interestingly, I haven't gained weight during that time. I've actually lost a few pounds since I stopped taking Seroquel. I'm keeping the Seroquel for occasional nights when I have a rough time of it. (used it two nights this week, but not last night). I'm washing clothes, but will head to the gym while dryer is running and step son is here. I'll come back home to get ready for work; it's my long night at the office-ugh.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Merry Christmas Everyone,

I hope you all have a good day with your families. We are having a potluck here at 1 so I am going to make a green salad. No one put out a sign up sheet so I don't really know what is going on because Ruth, who runs the potluck's has gone to be with her family. Being new here, I don't want to barge in and take over so it will be interesting to see what transpires. I only know that Janice is making scallopped potatoes and there is a ham in the freezer from Thanksgiving.

My neighbor brought me rice krispie treats and fudge and a shopping bag yesterday. That's what I got for Christmas. I gave her crocheted dishcloths that I made. I let her pick out the colors. Yesterday afternoon I left and went to the store where they let people rent spaces to sell their stuff but there weren't many open so I walked around for a while then went to our little mall. A man was selling dried herb arrangements so I bought a jar of mixed dried flowers and herbs for myself and it smells awesome. It came with a little vial of essential oil. It was $10. Then I went to the produce stand for the salad fixings and came home. There weren't a lot of shoppers at the mall, they were all at the grocery store.

So my plans for today is to put on a happy face and go with the flow. This is such a hard day to get through and I will be so relieved when it is over.

Family Joy

One of the lessons of the Nativity story is that, despite the mystery surrounding Jesus' conception, despite having traveled far from home, despite grinding poverty, the little family at Bethlehem had one another. That's all any one really needs to celebrate Christmas.

Bonnie -- you are on the right track, but do not use the word diet --- it's healthy eating and I'm enjoying it so much --- I've never been a junk food type, but did find a few of what I thought were healthy foods had too much salt. I found other brands that tasted as good without all the added salt. I love a lot of the Boarshead products as they have much less to no salt added.
One of my favorites for lunch is a piece of Health Nut Bread with a little spicy mustard, a few slices of Ovengold turkey and a slice of low sodium Munster cheese melted on top -- so delicious!

I am feeling much more energetic and trying to get lots of little stuff done -- you know the ones you look at and say, ok later.

My wish for everyone is joy in your heart this Christmas. It's difficult not to feel joy when you remember the reason for the celebration. Blessings, Sammi

Here we go again. First the eyes and now the teeth. Went to the dentist yesterday morning as kind of an emergency visit and wanted to know what was happening before I ended up north next week. I have a nine tooth bridge on the upper left, and there appeared to be a small bubble on the back molar. Well to make a long story short - there is an infection, but the good news is that it is draining and there is no pain. The bad news is that there is a crack in the bridge and for that reason sometime after the first of the year I will have to have the molar plus a couple of the teeth attached to it removed. No dental insurance so needless to say I am not to happy. But, then all I have to do is look around me as this is something that can be fixed, and I have many other friends and neighbors around me with issues that cannot be fixed.

Got my hair cut today and I think both my hairdresser and I have finally found the style we both want and like. Going to do a little laundry before all the activities start tomorrow. Coffee group first thing in the morning and then going to go to church Christmas Eve with my son and staying with him and my daughter-in-law overnight. The rest of their family, my daughter and her family will be joining us on Christmas day. Then on Monday we head for ski country and then coming back home on Thursday. Not sure what the computer access will be so I may be missing in action for a few days.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season

Hi All,

I am waiting for the mail person. My house in WI closed and they sent the proceeds by registered mail and I need to sign for it. I hate waiting. I have things I need to do. While waiting.....I am doing some chores that I have been putting off.

It is snowing here, even though they said we wouldn't have a white Christmas. We have about an inch....it is pretty.

I want to thank all my spark friends for the goodies and good wishes to me for the holidays. It means a lot to me, since this is my first one alone. You have all helped me so much in the past 1 1/2 years. I am thankful for you all.

Good Morning!

I've been a little down this week. Had my foot surgery Monday and I've had to sit around with that foot propped up. I'm a pretty active person and not being able to do the normal things I do has made me a little blue. I can't put pressure on the heel of my foot. Today I sneaked into my exercise room and got on my recumbent/elliptical machine. I was able to sit and keep that foot from putting pressure on the heel. I was able to do 24 minutes. My goal was to at least burn 100 calories. I did that, so I'm feeling a whole lot better.

My eating hasn't been the greatest. It's my fault. I had done my Christmas treats ahead of time. When it comes to taken my meds I'm to eat something first so they don't make me sick. I tend to go to my Christmas treats. After my company Christmas day my treats should be pretty much devoured. I can go back to work Tuesday to and will be away from food. I don't know why it has to be so hard to stay out of food!

I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Take time to remember the real reason for the season JESUS!

Good morning all!
Bonnie - Thanks for sharing so deeply It was truly inspirational and I need to follow your example in many ways.
Kathy - I am getting the True TSX. They even gave me a Kindle Fire as an incentive! I will get it Tuesday afternoon and I can't wait. Now I can combine and/or alternate with my treadmill.
Son and grandson put up our tree with us last night. This is so special since they live in VA and we rarely get to see them for Christmas. We'll open the gifts with them tomorrow morning before they leave to go home to DIL (she had to work and couldn't come).

Just read a "Healthy Reflections" from Spark People that hit home with me. It is about moving forward, no matter how slowly. Even had a quote from good ol' Abe Lincoln. For the majority of my life, I have been one of those "all or nothing" folks. For so many years, I bought into the going on a "diet" mentality. I was either very much on a diet, or very much off. I never even considered the "happy medium" that I am striving for now, and have been working towards for the last 4 years.

My idea was to go on whatever diet was popular at the moment, and work it like crazy. I would exercise like mad. Then, for whatever reason (undoubtedly just because I was on a "diet), I would break and then I was soooo off of a diet. I would eat anything in sight. Then I would cycle back, but it would take so long to get back because I had to eat all of the things I would never be able to eat again, once I went back on my diet.

The problem was not food, the problem was the way I was looking at, thinking about, and dealing with food. In addition to my own feelings of failure from so many years of "failure".

ENNAID,

You just said the same thing really. It is not what you eat that makes you fat, it is your attitude towards what you eat, and learning that you don't have to "eat it all now because you are going on a diet tomorrow".

For the last 4 years, I have been working on how I talk to myself, noticing when I am unconsciously making myself hate me, taking care of others so I don't have to pay attention to my own problems, etc. I am pretty sure we all have done some of the same.

I am working on being positive, treating myself well, while just being more relaxed with food.

I have certainly not been perfect, but I feel a lot better about who I am even though I have not lost all of the weight I wanted.

I lost 70 pounds and maintained that loss until this spring when my back issues became so acute and kept me from doing anything but just what I had to do. During that period, I gained back over 30 pounds. Since the surgery, I have dropped about 13 to 15 of that weight, just because I am no longer having the debilitating pain. I am sure when I am able to get into more of an aerobic exercise routine, I will lose the rest.

I guess that "Healthy Reflection" I mentioned earlier, really got me to thinking.

I am so over going on diets. I am learning to eat what I want in a responsible way, forgiving myself for the missteps and just learning to love me and relax about the rest of life.

It is not easy to do every day, but "One day at a time", has served me well.

Having this place to come to for inspiration, ideas, understanding and companionship is the only reason I have done as well as I have.

No, I have not lost the 150 pounds I wanted to lose when I began 4 years ago to change my lifestyle, but, I am still viewing it all as a huge victory.

In my past life, I would never have maintained a 70 pound weight loss for that long, and when I went through so much pain before my surgery, I would have just given up.

Now I am physically so much better, that I know I will be moving in a positive direction as best I can, "One day at a time".

This is my victory, this is my end of the year taking stock, this is my great new lifestyle.

Thanks to all of you who are on this journey with me. I would not have gotten this far without this support system.

God Bless and may the Lord, (or whomever your higher power is), give us all the strength to continue to be here to help ourselves, and each other!

Bonnie

Good morning dear friends!! I slept 8 hours last night-yay. I woke up once, then got up for the day at 4. So much better than 2 or 3 am. I did a little more shopping yesterday but one thing I wanted for DH wasn't available at our local store. As of yesterday, the GPS I wanted that was deeply discounted is still available at another store not too far from here. I'll have to check on line to be sure..I just checked and our store has one now! Very odd...I just ordered it to put on hold to pick up later. I never did put up the garland on our stair railings so want to do that today. The weather we've had has been unseasonably warm! It's been wonderful and I hope it continues. I hope to find energy to go to the gym today. I haven't been in a month and miss it.

Bonnie-Hope you enjoyed your time with the children!

Limastar-You sure do have a lot of energy! Sounds like you are just about ready for the holidays!

Sandi-Which elliptical are you buying? We got one for me earlier this year and it is great.I have the Sole E35. I do miss my treadmill, though.

LW-I am so sorry for your daughter's loss. That is always so sad when someone miscarries. Prayers and thoughts for all of you! Congrats on your 2 pound loss! :-)

Dianne-Congrats on your 11 pounds lost! You are so close to your goal and I know you'll succeed! :-)

Kel-Welcome-I'm sure you've been here awhile; I've been out of the loop. :-/ Don't you just hate when you realize you need to get more gifts?? Ugh....Hope you got it all done now!

Brenda-That's a nice perk, being able to open the door and let the heat from the hall come into your apt, saving on your electric bill a little!

Sammi-Hi and I hope you had more energy today. I know what it's like to have low energy some days-very frustrating when you want to do certain things, but can't.

Mel-How have your eyes been doing? Are you seeing better now??

RW-Thanks for the jokes..keep 'em coming! :-)

I will try to check in later on today. It's nice to be back here. :-)

Kind of skimmed the posts. Just very tired, and my eyes are itching along with my sinuses and head aching, so this will be quick.

KATHY

Glad to see you back.. Have missed you.

Had Gracee and Ellee for about 9 hours today, then had my aquatic therapy. Wiped out tonight. Because of the holiday, I had to have pt two days in a row. Next week, it will be Tues, Weds and Thurs, but will not be babysitting, so won't be quite as tired.

Wishing you all well, and happy that you seem to be enjoying you holiday preparations!

God Bless, and goodnight

Hi All,

It's been a few days since my last posting. I've been busy baking in the morning and delivering the goodies to the neighbors, my co workers at school, and the various businesses we patronize, like my Hubby's barber shop, our eye doctor, and dentist.

Today was house cleaning and getting ready for Christmas. Tomorrow I will be baking more cakes for more neighbors & friends. I also need to pick up a few more things for Christmas dinner.

I've been getting my walking in, but not the ST. I may try to do some ST this evening.

The weather was rainy yesterday, but it was a beautiful day today. Hoping it's sunny again tomorrow.

Well, have to get ready for tomorrow.

It's so nice to have son Tim and grandson William home for a few days. They are off running errands and I'll catch up with them later. They will go with me later to check out the elliptical I am buying today (my Christmas gift from my hubby). Then we will all set up my Christmas tree tonight.

Merry Christmas all! Yikes my page says I haven't been here for 33 days. Catching up on all the members. Gotta admit, I was bummed about not losing anything. And we had one family Christmas dinner last weekend, so I just knew to stay away from that scale. But this morning I stepped on and 2 lbs down. Can't believe it. Our son and daughter-in-law lost their little baby this weekend emoticon so that was hard. This would have been our first grandbaby. Jen is feeling fine, just sadness.
Bonnie, I read where your surgery went well. So happy to hear. Lynn, I'm hoping you have a good Christmas.
Jan. 3 I will see a new dr. about my back. I've been keeping up with excercise as best I can. My right shoulder that had surgery in Aug is finally better; not complete movement, but I can do pretty much everything with it now. That was another reason I was bummed; it took so long to heal. My wonderful sisters in Christ kept me going with all their prayers. For them and my family I am so very grateful! emoticon And our puppy we got in Oct. is growing like a weed. She's a little sweet lab, and hubby has fallen in love with her. She goes riding with him everywhere....tractor, truck, the old car, ATV....everywhere. I kid him, she is supposed to be my dog!
I just wanted to check in today and read everyone's postings. Loved catching up. It's snowing here again today, so unless it melts quickly, we will have a white Christmas in our area of Kansas.

Good Morning everyone. Well I have lost 11 of the 17 lbs I wanted to lose. While I eat better I found that just cutting down on my serving sizes works the best for me. I still avoid "bad" food but the balance of my diet has not really changed. I know that if I stop eating my favoirte foods that the "healthy eating" will go out the windows. So I eat pretty much as before, but I am mindful the the cal, prot, carbs, etc.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Dianne

Welcome Back Kathy! Sounds like you're on the right track now! Seroquel is a bugger! Happy you're off it!

Sammi, take all the time you need. It's important to take care of yourself, esp. during the Holidays! ( Notice that I don't take my own advice.... emoticon )

Sandi, I read your post, but I swear I cannot remember what I read. I am sorry. OH YEAH...I remember! Glad to hear you're all ready for your family to come in today! ( Whew, that was a close one! )

Okie-dokie! I made it thru cookie baking day....with many ice packs, esp. last night and another this morning to my aching back!

I'm up very early this morning, a little before 5. I went to bed at 10:30 last night because my eyes kept closing and I couldn't watch the end of my program. Today is the first full day of winter and it is very cold outside but not in here. The halls are kept so warm that I don't have to turn the heat on too much. During the day I leave my door halfway open to let the heat in.

The ironing board cover I bought at Michael's the other day doesn't fit so I have to take it back today. I don't know if I'll be able to find one to fit because my board is not standard.. After the holidays I'll check out Walmart. My neighbor went there yesterday and picked me up a new mouse. She was on her way out when I went down to check my mail and I told her my mouse was dying so she offered to pick one up for me. She is so nice.

Kathy, It's good to have you back and I'm glad to hear that your school projects are behind you and you got your meds under control. The lost pounds are an added bonus. My scale says I've dropped a pound since yesterday so my efforts are paying off.

We won't have a white Christmas but the weatherman is saying things will deteriorate after Sunday so hopefully everyone will get back home before it hits. We're having a potluck Christmas day for those of us with no place to go so that will help pass the time.

Wishing you all peace, love and joy and a safe trip if you are traveling.

Hello everyone! I haven't been on here since just before Thanksgiving! Wow...time flies and I miss you guys.

I was extremely busy during the last four-five weeks with schoolwork: writing a paper, developing a Power Point presentation and giving the presentation and my final exam! Whew....On top of all that, I finally got off of Seroquel, which may or may not have been the wisest decision in the midst of the end of school goings on. I got tired of gaining weight, so finally switched from Seroquel to Rozerem. My doctor said it would take 2 weeks for the Rozerem to become effective. I slept two hours for a couple of nights, then slept from 4-6 hours on various nights. It was horrible!! The "blessing" was that I had extra hours to work on my papers and exam! LOL After two weeks, my sleep still didn't improve. I saw another doctor (mine was on vacation) and got switched to Sonata. I took it for the first time two nights ago. I slept about 5 hours, but it was a good, deep sleep. Last night, I slept 7 hours! (unfortunately, I was so tired I went to bed at 8, waking up at 3 am). Hopefully, after a nap later, I'll go to bed later and get back on track. AND...as soon as I stopped Seroquel, my appetite took a huge dive! WOW...I didn't realize just how bad the eating had gotten. I've already lost just over 4 pounds without even exercising! I'm looking forward to getting back into exercising this weekend. I sure have missed it!

I've skimmed the posts for this month and I see some of you are dealing with losses-I am sorry to hear this and pray for comfort and healing for each of you during this difficult time. I'm glad to hear Bonnie and Sandi are healing well from their surgeries!

Mary and Lynn, it sounds like you all are slowly but surely adjusting to your lives! It surely has been a challenging year for you.

I've got to do a few last minute errands for Christmas today and get some packages in the mail. Hopefully, DH can do the mail run for me....DD will go grocery shopping, I hope! ;-)
