Hi all,

Made it back from my ski trip all in tact - no broken bones or anything so that in itself makes it a successful trip! We had a good time. It was really nice to get away for a few days. It was pretty cold though. I don't think the temp ever got into the double digits. Would have liked it to have been another 5-10 degrees warmer but it was still a good time. It was hard to go back to work today.

Now it's time to get serious again. Made it to the Community Center tonight and ran/walked on the treadmill. Haven't stepped on the scale yet - I'll give it a few days and then see what it says. Hopefully it's not too bad.

Talk to you all later!

Hi team,
Seems like this past month has really flown by doesn't it? Tomorrow is March already and later I'll close out the thread for February and start a March Chat Thread. For your information, and you may wonder why we start a new thread each month, it's for several reasons. This is a very active thread and we get a lot of posts (hooray for that!) The chat thread gets very large in volume and if we didn't start a new thread each month we'd soon have slow loading and sluggish posting times. So in order to make it easier to get on the thread, read, and reply- this is the best way. If anyone has suggestions, on anything that is, the team leaders would love to hear about it
So I hope that explains a few things and for now--- see ya later

Lynn- I think washing and cleaning your car should count all that bending and stretching.

Limastar- Hope you are feeling better soon

Bonnie- don't you just love when you can't sleep then you break a glass and have to clean up the mess. Been there done that many times I watched the Oscars here and there I prefer the Peoples Awards. I watch Boss undercover I like to watch them fail at the jobs that they think are mundune if you know what I mean. Curves owners will be on April 3rd on the new show "millionaire workers" something like that

Well it's raining here again all day today. It didn't make for a fun walk this morning but i did do a mile. I went to Jazz for 60 min and also did my curves for 30. Now 'im just having some down time before the gd comes home at 2:10 off the bus then it's homework and off to Girl Scouts. Didn't get the dress made yet but I did get the material washed so that's a start.

Everyone have the best day you know how to have and enjoy it

The party was fun - food was good - conversations lively - and all in all we probably didn't even need to watch the Oscars. I am sure there is a lot going on behind the scene, but who cares. The gowns are lovely ( of course, not all of them), the speeches too long - and trying to guess if the favorites are really going to get the award. Out of 24 categories I had 11 right. Not bad for not having seen any of the movies. Prizes were given to those with the most correct and even one for the least ( I didn't qualify). All in all every year we do this, it is fun. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Feel better, I am sending that stinkin' cold far far away right now!

NJ

Great job on that race! Good for you emoticon emoticon emoticon

MARGARET

Good for you for getting in the exercise. You are right, that helps so much. I have been negligent for the last week or 10 days, and I know the lack is contributing to the depression.

MEL

You are doing so well, that I almost forget you WERE a smoker! You are doing such a wonderful job taking care of all of you!

SANDY

I have a vision of the fox walking on the ice, and then all of a sudden dropping from sight. Hope it gets smart enough to know walking on the ice is done!

MIMI

Hope you totally enjoyed your Oscar party! And that the rest of you who watched enjoyed it too! Just plain too long for me, so I haven't watched any of the awards shows in years.

But, I am sure a party would be fun.

DIANA

Glad to see you here. From keeping up with you an Facebook, I now you are extremely busy, and very physically active. You have to be in such great shape. I wouldn't let the scale worry you. I am sure you are being very healthy!

Have a good day my friends.

It is gloomy here, but the rain has melted much of the snow. Will be so glad to see the brown old ground again soon. Hoping the snow is done!

Thanks so much for keeping that room waiting. That is just so sweet!

Went to sleep, then woke up because I did not have my cpap on, just fell asleep watching tv. Then went out to take my pills, and broke a glass. After making sure I got all of the pieces, and little shards, I woke up. After reading the posts, I am now getting sleepy again.

For a couple of you who are sick, feel better.

I do take Calcium with Vit D in it, but maybe need to be taking a bit more.

Have a great Monday all.

Hi MEL, I think this is the first time I posted BEFORE you! Have a great day, I am going to bed now.

This weekend the germs caught up with me. So I spent Saturday in bed with a stuffed up nose and a slight cough. This morning I had to get up to get some stuff done for tomorrow. My nose isn't as stuffed up, but it's running like a sieve and I still have a slight cough.

Didn't get everything done that I wanted to get done, so will have to finish tomorrow. Did get lunch and snack prepared for tomorrow.

Njjazz, Congrats on your 5k. Keep up the great running.

Hope everyone's weekend was a great one.

Hi Y'all,

What a great weekend....78 yesterday and 81 today. Yesterday we cut our tree in the front down by 10+ feet. I washed my car inside and out. Does that count for exercise??? My walking buddies were busy so tomorrow we start again. I sat out on my screen porch tonight and it was lovely. We have a woods behind us and you can hear the owls and other animals. Can't let Maggie go in the woods....gators and other animals of prey. I wouldn't go in after her either...I am a chicken.

I a so glad that so many SPers are checking in. We have an awesome team here!! Welcome to the newbies and just join in the conversation.

NJJAZZ....congrats on your 5K

Lista...I am glad you are keeping us up to date on your travels.

Bonnie...we have a guest room waiting for you whenever you want to come down.

Mel...it did seem like summer here today. I had to get some sandals out of the back of the closet. I may have to get the rest of my summer stuff out.

Steve...lots of things are budding here too. I think they may be blooming this week!

Have a super week, Lynn

NNJazz- Congrats on the race. Glad you made it and in good time too.

Bonnie- Hope you a feeling a bit better, especially since it di dwarm up a little.

That fox was out there walking on the ice again today. Dangerous with the warmth. Waiting for the rain to come. Have flood warnings everywhere in the upper counties of Ohio.

This is going to be a stressful week for me and my DS. Our next court date is the 2nd. He currently has temporary full custody of his girls. This will decide permanent custody. She has moved out of the county and done a few other stupid moves. We are just praying hard that things go his way.

Been cleaning the house for a b-day party next week.
DGD turning 6 on friday. She is excited. Planning wings, salad and pizza. ANd with the stresses of the week hoping to keep my mouth shut and just eat when necessary. Do have a sore throat so I am drinking a lot of water and tea. Hoping it doesn't get any worse.

Ready for an evening of the Oscars. Like many of you, have not seen any of the movies nominated. Just don't have time to go to the show. Still like to see what everyone is wearing.

Have a great evening yourself and a good week. emoticon

Hello all

To all --Thanks for the congrats It sure wasn't easy loosing it but I certainly know how easy it is to put it on.

LMMIMI- glad the dental problem wasn't as bad as you thought. My heart rate and blood pressure sores so high when I have to go. Mind you I have had alot of work done but never the less I have a hard time going there. I think if they made the drills go silent it wouldn't be so bad. Congrats on your weight loss what an inspiration to us.

Heather- good planning parking a distance away so that you can get your walk in. I haven't walked all week. I start again tomorrow. I walk after i put the gd on the bus at 7:30am.

Sue- I've not done the shred I'll have to look it up. I'm on a 30 day challenge to loose weight and inches. So i've got my work cut out for me.

Margaret- I happy Zahraq is well. Hope the other horse get well soon as I sure it is hard on you.

LIMASTAR--Glad your food plan is going so well for you. Keep up the good work

RENEE2013
Welcome to the group. Keep up the good work walking. When I walk an hour it's about 3.5 miles or more. Need to get a predominter and count your steps. I do 1 mile in 15 and 2 miles in 30 but after that i slow down so It's just a guess for you.

NJJAZZ- hope your found what you were looking for on your estate sales. How did your 5k race go. I hope you had a good time. I see you've done well on the race pat our self on your back for me.

RW- glad all went well at the drs. I'm finally getting my hubby to one and have a few things checked. I'm hoping what the primary dr said is the same as the derm dr will say.

Lista- glad your enjoying your road trip. I wish I was on one right now. I so want a vacation.

Bonnie- I take a Vitamin D-3 every day plus CQ10 I find it helps. You should give it a try I buy the natural ones so they don't interfere with any meds I might be taking. Have your dr run a Vit D blood test it might help to know if your too high or way too low. I with you I never remember to empty all the pockets and it usually when i have black pants in the wash.

Brenda- it's best to always have fresh batteries. I went through that and I thought it wasn't right even with new batteries so i bought a new one. Guess what it told me the same thing as the old one. I think it was a conspiracy. Boy that banana bread sounds wonderful. It doesn't take much to entertain any of us. Loved the b-day fool joke it made me laugh. My girlfriend told me she married a fool. It was so funny when the others didn't understand that he was born on April 1st.

Mel -- love our but dance. First time i've seen it but it will certainly get used now that I know about it . 7 weeks smoke free congrats that is better than loosing weight right now. The news is on Christchurch right now said they are still looking for the living and hoping to find more at the cathedral.

Rosie- I know how you feel do alot of typing and then have it all disappear.. it sure is frustrating.

Dianna- welcome back we all take go MIA occasionally I do it myself. Glad you are doing well.

Another snowy day here today. We are now over 75 inches of snow this season. I posted on picture on my SP photo page. I stayed in all day after going to Mass this morning. I don't feel up to doing much lately. I guess i'm on a downward depression week. I'm going to force myself out tomorrow to walk and get to classes and then i'm going to work on making another outfit. A dress this time. I'll post it when I finish it. I'm hoping that will make the depression go away. I didn't get the job at the school but i never really thought I would get it. I'm going to apply for another job tomorrow. With the gd family moving out I need to find alot to keep my busy. I'm sure going to miss them but I know that life will be different and then again it will also be a bit better for all. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

Have fun enjoy the Oscars I'm going to try and watch it as hubby gets bored with it.

Well this old gal ran her very first 5k today. I finished in 39.02 minutes............. I was just so happy to finish - I wasnt at all concerned about the time. I must admit - every so often I looked back just to make sure I was not last. That thought scared me...........

I started running doing over a 20 minute mile.............. and Im at about a 13 min mile now. Lots of progress. Running has become my cardio of choice. My legs are holding up ( so far) and I havent lost any belly fat yet - but I can see muscles in my legs I never knew I had. I have lost some jiggly stuff around my kneecaps and my thunder thighs are just a rolling dull roar right now. Ive lost a few inches there.

All in all...................... ya have to push yourself to try something new to see change. You have to change - to change. You dont have to like everything you try - but keep going until you find somethng you do like.................

Now Steve-O if I could just start to like golf............. my friends would be so much happier than me liking to run. LOL most of them think I am nuts.

Hi Team,
Had more snow here- isn't that great. It's getting warmer and feels like spring is on the coil.

Hoping to go see a movie with my DD this afternoon - The Eagle

Been feeling great- exercise will do that- the challenge being to DO it! Funny how stuff that is good for you we're so reluctant to do - while spudding on the couch munching comes so natural. LOL

anyway - got loads of energy and need to go do something.

Happy Sparking!!!

Good Afternoon to everyone. Going to an Oscar party this evening. This group of friend and family ( this is party of the Saturday Coffee Group) does this every year and every year I have never seen any of the movies nominated. We get ballots and I vote just to vote. Sometimes I even guess right. There is food, drink, popcorn and candy so I have to watch myself. Wouldn't miss it for a minute. emoticon

Bonnie,

It's the ice in the parking lot that is the problem. I park in the upper covered parking lot and the roofs are flat, then when the snow melts, it drips onto the asphalt and freezes so it is a skating rink. I see the snow on my balcony is finally melting now so it is warming up. I did call my friend and told her I was cancelling for this sale but I can always change my mind because she rents a huge space and I pay her for half when I set up.

Steve, thanks for straightening me out. I need to pay more attention. LOL

I'm doing laundry this morning and now I have bits of kleenex all over the load. I swore I checked all my pockets! I just hate it when that happens. At least it isn't the navy blue fleece load!!

HI all,
It's been awhile since I"ve signed on. I'm still working out like crazy which is a good thing because I LOVE to eat. I'll be down a couple pounds then up a couple, not making a lot of progress unfortunately. I still workout about 5 to 6 days a week in various bootcamps, personal training, and exercise classes. I also workout with my training partners at least 5 days a week in the morning on top of that. You'd think I'd lose some weight wouldn't you. My daughter leaves on Thursday for Las Vegas to run her first half marathon!! I've been helping her train which is getting me back in shape. I'm signed up for an 8K race that is March 19th. Sure hope the snow is done by then. Take care all

Hoping you really enjoyed your race, can't wait for the report!

STEVE

Thanks for the kudos, I am very glad to have more den mothers here. We can so help each other keep going!

Grateful for the work your sister and her husband are doing.

KATHY

You will get it going again once this weather changes. I am very confident of that. How are you feeling physically at this point?

BRENDA

Hoping they get your parking lot cleared so you can get to your sale!. Maybe it will even melt by Thursday, fingers crossed, and positive energy being sent your way.

Loved your story about your groundskeepers, I would have enjoyed that myself.

Glad you slept well, and glad you have so much light. I am going to look into the light situation. I do feel some better today.

I know that getting out yesterday did me some good.

Laura and Derek called me to meet for breakfast this morning, so that got me out again today, and enjoyed a little company.

Wishing you all a great Sunday, or in a few cases, I guess it is a great MONDAY by now!

God Bless.

Good Sunday Morning to you all!

As I sit here writing this it has started snowing again! The snow hasn't melted in the shady areas for days, not much on the ground but there's lots of white out there. Funny story: last week when the storm started was the yard crews' day to do our grounds. A group of us were down in the social room gathered around a table visiting when the sky opened up and heavy snow fell, the wind came up and someone said "Look at that guy out there running the leaf blower." We went to the window to watch him and he was laughing, we were laughing and he was running around blowing off the patios but there was nothing there. The other guy was carrying a big trash can to put debris in but it had all blown away and they finally gave it up. As you can tell, it doesn't take much to entertain us.

Next Thursday is another indoor yard sale at the store down the street but I will have to cancel my booth because at the moment our parking lot is a skating rink and I can't get to my car to load it. The main streets are sanded and de-iced but they don't do private lots. We have to pay for the booth ahead of time and if you can't get there, oh well, that's too bad! No refunds. It may clear off by then but the weather is so unpredictable no one knows what will happen.

Bonnie, do you have any fluorescent desk lamps? You know, the type with the long tube, not the curly ones. They put out a lot of light. I have my 'office' in the corner of the living room next to the sliding glass doors and it stays pretty light in here. I'm so glad I have this corner apartment with six windows. I have an entry way with a window. Most of the apartments only have the sliding glass door and a bedroom window. The two bedroom units have three windows. They are dark places!! Maybe that's why there are so many crabby women here. Do ya think?

I finally got a good night's sleep last night. Went to bed at nine, read for a little while and didn't wake up until 6. It's been a long time since I slept that long all in one stretch.

NJJAZZ, I am here cheering you on!!

Lynn, send some heat our way, I'm tired of the cold.

Steve, does your son write books about his missionary trips? Yes, this is a sad situation but it is happening everywhere.

I hope you all have a relaxing day. I am going to finish my purses today so I can deliver them to residents. Six orders so far.

NJ-I'm so far behind, I didn't realize you were going to do a 5k today! Just look at how far you've come! Wish I could be there to cheer you on at the finish line. I can't wait to hear about your day! Time for me to start thinking about signing up for some races. I only did one 5k last year, but I want to do more races this year.

Mel-What kind of elliptical do you have? It's supposed to be 61 today, so I'll probably go out for a run instead of using the elliptical today-can't wait!

Bonnie-Yesterday sounds like it was a fabulous day with friends. I'm glad you had a chance to get out for awhile.

Will check back in later, folks....

Bonnie- Your back at your being one of the best den moms but I see many are challenging the position of head den mom, hahaha.

Everyone have a great day of Spark'n. I am not a good den brother, hahaha. I'm just too simple and to the point.
About the India stories forthcoming- They went on a Christian mission. That country has so many people and there is so many ills go'n on. Kidnapping little girls is huge and turning them out for prostitution. This one group there has gotten over 75 girls off the street that were kidnapped. It's awful and how sad. Anyway, I can go on and on with this matter.

Steve - lucky you to be able to get out your lawn mower. my lawn is covered in snow. It is supposed to be 50 and rainy here on Monday - we will see.

Bonnie - it is easy to get depressed in the Winter. Especially this winter. Gray skies and lost of snow, ice and cold weather. Come on Spring!!

Lynn - I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Rosie - I have had disappearing posts - it is very frustrating. my son got a virus on our computer last weekend but I was able to get rid of it. Maybe i should buy a anti virus program.

Brenda - love banana bread - with walnuts - yummo!!

Hope you all have a great day!!

MEL

It is 12:36am for me, and I will be off to bed soon. Hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

I LOVED the Butt Dance, thanks for the laughs.

Thank you all for the understanding and thoughtfulness about my present state. Love Spark People so much because of my wonderful friends, always here with support, and encouragement.

Had a good day today. Went with my friends to The Purple Rose Theater in Chelsea Michigan today, had a nice dinner, then drove home to my friend Amy's house, where she and her Daughter Natalie, (they are who I went with to Chelsea), and Amy's guy Gary and I played Euchre.

Still having the unsettling feelings, and the free floating anxiety, but am able to ignore it for the most part and enjoy myself with people I love so much. They are so close to me, that they are like my family.

STEVE

Have fun when you get to go on your trip.

KATHY

I do have places where I sit, especially at my computer, where I get lots of sunshine. I have only sheers on my windows, and I have a lot of windows, so get quite a bit of sun, and my niece Christy's house is the same. The problem is that there has been so little sun in the last few weeks.

I also do take Vit D. I will have to investigate if my insurance will pay for the special lights. If they are not too expensive, I will try to get one. Just about anything I have done, or I have to buy, is on an 80/20 basis, so I have to pay the 20%. Maybe if it is not too much, I can manage to get one before next winter. I will have to see what they say. Thanks for that info.

As for this winter, I am planning on it being over VERY soon. Fingers crossed anway.

BRENDA

Your bread sounds yummy. Making my mouth water! Am sure the widowers are thrilled!

ROSIE

I too know the frustration of the disappearing posts! Guess just a glich in the system from time to time!

LISTA

Glad you are enjoying yourself. What a great time!

LYNN

IF you are going to have sunshine at your house next weekend, just let me know, I will be on your doorstep!!

DOROTHY

I am praying for a nice warm summer, with just enough heat to keep my pool nice and warm so we can swim and swim!

MARGARET

Thanks for the tools to fight my depression! I will have to keep them all in mind!

MIMI

Congrats on your weight loss! Good job. So good to get below that next number

SANDY

You have had a pretty tough week yourself. WIth all of the snow and then having the kids with school being out. WHEW. Take a break if you can, you deserve it!

I had a problem with a virus yesterday. I pulled up my virus protection, it found one virus and got rid of it, so things are much better today.

Geez. Don't these really smart people have something better to do than to mess up people they don't even know? What a bunch of smart dummies!

Headed for bed now, just wanted to check in with you all before going.

God Bless and have a lovely Sunday all!

Good Sunday afternoon all.

Dorothy - The weather has gone troppo. That's OZ for crazy, lol. It certainly can't be much fun having to dig yourself out of the snow all the time. Ugh! Thanks, I'm doing fine. Not losing any weight at the moment, but hey, I'm almost 7 weeks smokefree.

Steve - There's so many postings that if you're off for a day or so, it's hells own job to catch up with it all again. Glad you liked the butt dance, lol. Stories from India would be fascinating.

Rosie - You are so Sweet, Rosie.

Lynn - For sure, stay busy and eat less. Your weather is better than ours at the moment and we are in Summer time here.

Lista - Your weekend walk sounds lovely.

Margaret - You said in your post it was Saturday afternoon, but the time (at that time) on your post shows as 7:44 a.m. Sunday. Probably the same as everyone's weight tracker showing up in kilograms for me instead of pounds. Monarch of the Glen is a top show.

Brenda - Yes I was attacked by 9 different viruses, and SP site being the only place I'd been. My anti-virus kicked in and did it's thing and all is well with me tho'.

Kathy - Yes, the smile poem was a beaut. Glad you like the elliptical. I got rid of my bike and trainer machine to make space for my elliptical. Lol, I finished another 30 minutes on it just before I started typing up my post for today.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Mel-Love the Smile poem! Thanks for sharing it with us. There's one gal at work who always smiles and is so upbeat-her positive attitude is contagious. She works our front desk and she is the first person our mentally ill clients see and that is just such a blessing.

Margaret-I'm sorry to hear of the troubles with the horses. It's always so hard to see our dear animals in pain. :-/

RW- "Birthday presents" around your neck-lol! I see a dermatologist every year. I have basal cell carcinoma and she finds new things yearly-sigh. Thankfully, it never gets past the basal cell stage, though. I stay out of the sun and run only in the early morning or late evenings.

Bonnie- I was wondering if the depression was getting to you since we weren't hearing from you as much. Our computer room used to be in a room that gets very little light and I used to deal with SAD a lot. We moved the computers to the far end of our family room, which is next to the sliding glass door. We get lots of light there and I enjoy being able to look into the backyard. It surely has made a difference in my mood. I hope you can find an area of your house where you get more sunlight and spend some time sitting there for part of the day. I know it is tough to beat the "winter blues/blahs" and am sorry to hear you are dealing with it.

Sandy-I just can't believe some of you are still getting snow! Yuck....

LMMIMI-Congrats on your weight loss!! WHoohoo! Gas prices have gone up drastically everywhere. :-/ I drive 45 min each way to work, daily-sigh.

Brenda-Interesting that you mentioned the virus attacks! I got a pop up about it and I guess my antivirus took care of it. I should get my DH to check it out. I'll have to check on SP to see if they say anything about it...

I got rid of my treadmill earlier this week-someone on Freecycle came and took it off our hands. We bought an elliptical for me. I got the Sole E35 and have tried it out. It's a great workout! Whew....

Yep, lots of walnuts in the banana bread. I forgot I was supposed to make a loaf without them for Bill, who gave us the bananas. He doesn't have any teeth to chew the nuts. LOL I have a few more bananas sitting here so will make some for him tomorrow. The hard part is finding him at home, he is so busy all the time with the food bank and babysitting his little granddaughter. I may have to just bake and freeze it and leave a note on his door to come and get it.

We very seldom get snow here so it creates a mess when we do. Mostly it is in the mountains or the eastern part of the state. People don't know how to drive in it.

Did anyone get attacked with computer viruses today? I did a couple times while I was reading the SP blogs to get points. Trojans and viruses and whatever else was happening. One SP member said she got attacked and it cost her $100 to fix it. I have a good virus program that is free and it took care of the attack so far.

Have a good day.

Brenda- Mmmm banana bread- with walnuts I hope. ONLY 8 inches!! lol

Mel- the time thing gets me all muddled too. It's Sat. afternoon here.

Steve- I love to listen to travel stories - I'll bet they have some good ones from India.

Rosie- the disappearing posts happen to me sometimes too. It usually happens when you've taken the time to read everyone's post and try to comment. lol

Lynn- 70 degrees sounds wonderful- sunporch, books, 70 degrees- sounds like a winning combination!

Spent the morning cleaning the living-room, dining-room, kitchen, hallways, took care of the horses, rabbits, chickens, dog, cats. Time to relax- I'm watching Monarch of the Glen- maybe I'll take a nap before dinner. A nice soup sounds yummy!

Take care all!

Lynn - you are just being a little worker bee. You'll have that house in tip top shape before you know it. How is your husband doing? Prayers going your way.

Steve - you sound pretty anxious to get out golfing again. Hope you have fun. I never did the golf thing. The golf carts look fun!

Way to go for all those losing some pounds. I am still stuck but this too shall pass. I think once the warmer weather comes that will help a lot because I'm usually busy doing something outside.

Spending the weekend at Jekyll Island, GA. Spent the morning walking on the beach. You can just walk and walk and walk but then you have to remember you have to walk back! Boy am I pooped! It was great. On the way back the fog started rolling in. That was cool.

Hi Y'all,
Just dropping by for a quick check in. Today it will be in the 70's so I am cleaning the back screen porch including the ceiling fan and light. I don't think they have ever been cleaned. No plans for the weekend. I got some new library books so that should keep me entertained. The busier I am the less I eat.

Bonnie....I too am affected by the light/sun. A few years ago I got a prescription for a light box. The insurance covered the cost. My friend got one recently (in the last year) and said a prescription is no longer needed. It might be worth a try. I didn't need mine in St George, UT but here in Charleston I think I may. UT had over 300 days of sun per year. I don't know what it is here but it rains a lot and is pretty cloudy.

Have a great weekend, Lynn

I liked the butt dance, hahaha. I've never seen that one before. It is amazing how I can get off the flow of this team's postings. I guess I just have way too many emails. Anyway, I golfed in my neighbors back yard yesterday for about one hour of practice. I'm ready to bring it onto the course now and the weather is warming up too. My sister and BIL came back from a mission trip to India and boy, do they have stories. I need to plan a stay over soon and go over the pictures on their TV. We canceled our trip to Myrtle Beach this week but are planning on going this Tuesday or Wednesday coming up. I can't wait. Happy Spark'n y'all, Stevegolfdog

Good Saturday afternoon all.

Lois - Whew, that was a lot of cards you had at one stage. You've done well to get rid of them. Some people get into so much financial difficulty using plastic.

NJJAZZ - Sounds like you're having an enjoyable day.

RW - All good news then. It's good to put the mind at rest, especially with anything that bothers you regarding your health. The little birthday presents remind me of the rings around a tree trunk, lol.

Lista - What a great thing to do, go on a road trip with DH. I sometimes wish my DH liked to travel, but it's hard to get him out of the house. Meal-splitting is excellent and it's a cheaper way to go too.

Margaret - Good luck with your new Zumba class. We've got Autumn just around the corner here in Tasmania. This has been one of the coldest Summers on record. It's been raining most of the day and I have my jumper on.

Bonnie - Nice to enjoy the sunshine on your face. When the sun goes away, stay under bright lights until you feel better. I don't know if that works, but it was just a thought I had that might or might not help. Stay loose girlfriend.

Sandy - Busy, busy, busy... you are. But sounds like you enjoyed having the girls at your place. It must be a pain having to shovel snow all the time.

Lois (again) - Wow, well done on your weight loss. Awesome! You say you like exercising with others. I'm just the opposite and enjoy working out at home by myself.

Margaret (again) - Boy, have you been the busy one today, or was that all on your Friday. It's Saturday 5:45pm here. I get so muddled with what day some of you do your stuff on. Never heard of a "funky" computer before, lol.

Brenda - Well done with all your baking. Lovely to hear about the two men who enjoyed your banana bread. Apart from keeping your apartment warm, your baking would leave a lovely smell around the place too. Yes, duh to the scales. I sure hope you settle down and get a better night's sleep soon.

Bonnie (again) - Here's a Happy Butt Dance, just for you. I hope it makes you smile.

(_|_) (_/_) (_|_) (_\_) (_|_) (_/_) (_|_) (_\_) !!

You can do this all you want but you won't burn any calories though.

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Happy Friday Everyone,

Our last blast of the winter is waning, the snow is melting but we have very cold temperatures yesterday, today and warming up tomorrow. We only got about 8 inches of snow here yesterday but the streets were extremely icy as well as our parking lot. I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere.

The food bank sent us two+ boxes of bananas suited for bread the other day so I spent this afternoon baking and delivered half loafs to a couple grateful widowed men. You should have seen the smile on their faces to have some fresh baked banana bread. It made me feel really good but now they want more!! LoL I told them I don't bake very often. I have a few loaves stashed in the freezer to give them at a later date, otherwise they will eat it all at once. I sliced a loaf and a half (cut each slice in half) and took it down to the social room for our music show this afternoon and the bread went fast. I didn't make it to the show but I went down just as it was over to talk to Roy, who volunteers his time every month to come here and play old songs to us and tell us trivia. He thanked me for the bread and he showed me that one of the ladies had fixed a plate of it for him to take home to share with his wife. I was hoping someone would do that. I only ate two thin slices off the ends that got a little dark. This was a new recipe and it turned out pretty good. Was a good day to bake because it kept my apartment nice and warm.

Bonnie,

I need light too but I don't get depressed in the winter. I am starting my third year living here and have yet to hang a curtain. Living on the third floor top corner apartment I don't have to worry about closing my curtains because no one can see into my apartment unless a helicoptor happens by. LOL I have mini blinds and they are pulled up all the way except for my bedroom. I close them at night because the street lights shine in. I get the morning and late afternoon sun so it is really bright in here then. I don't like the dark dreary days so much. I hope you perk up soon!!

I lost a half pound in about two minutes this morning! The scale has been weighing weird numbers lately so I started thinking (that's dangerous for me) that maybe the scale was battery operated and it is. So I changed the batteries and now I weigh what I thought I should. My neighbor gave it to me quite a while ago so I didn't know it had batteries. DUH

The last couple nights have been pretty much sleepless. Don't know what is causing that. I go to sleep and am awake two hours later. Then I read for an hour or so then toss and turn and finally fall asleep until 6 or 7. I hate that. It's not from medications (or caffein) because I don't take anything except an occassional generic non aspirin extra strength pain reliever.

Have a good weekend.

Busy, busy day. Went and did some cleaning for one of my new elderly ladies today. Miss seeing Char - will have to visit her soon. Did day 5 of bootcamp, 1 mile on treadmill, cleaned stalls, fixed horsie boo-boos, helped kids w/schoolwork, fixed dinner, did some more horsie stuff - and a lot of little things in between.
Whew.

Bonnie- sorry to hear about the blues- have you tried a vit D supplement? The sun is what gives us the most vit d and lack of it can cause depression. Know that you're not alone in battling that- positive imaging works great too. Keep well and plan a garden or take a virtual trip to Hawaii complete with a day at the pool, new swim suit and a healthy Hawaiian refreshment complete with little umbrella. Here's a few things to get you started:

Good afternoon everyone. Happy day - got on the scale and went from 192 to 189.5. I cannot tell you how long it has been to be under 190. It snow about an inch over night, but the sun is shining and we are back in the melting mode. Not too much planned for today and will try to run all my errands tomorrow. Need to consolidate every and try to save on the gas. Prices went up 21 cent per gallon in about two hours yesterday. Thankfully I don't have to get out and drive everyday. Rather than going to the "Y", I may start going over to Rec Building and use the pool there. The only problem is that it is much smaller, but then I don't do lap swimming. Maybe with a smaller pool I could try to do some laps. There are other machines there that I could use. You ask, why hasn't she been doing this all the time. I like being with others and this will be only me and myself. In reading this back I sound like I am making a lot of excuses. It is tough to know yourself so well.

Good Friday evening. What a morning! About 5 inches of snow then drifted into about a foot and a half in the driveway thru the height of the storm. All snow done by noon. Did go out about 10 am. to get started on the shoveling. Glad for the new snowblower but with the wind had to judge just right so as not blowing back at me.

Girls off school another day this week. Think they only went 2 days this week. So had 3 of them here. They covered the dinign room table with jigsaw puzzles. (24 adn 100 piece) Did play in the snow about 1/2 hour. Tooo cold.
Played twister and watched some tv.

I am beat. Figured I burned quite a few calories with outdoor activities. Haven't put in my food or workout yet.

Bonnie- Sorry you are feeling so blue. And unfortunately sun will be just peeking in and out the next few days. Maybe it is time to consider a trip in the winter somewhere warm. Just a few days. Can even go by bus if need be. I know finances could be a problem. Or get one of those lamps to sit under a few hours a day. And you need to laugh more. Read a funny book or get a funny movie or ask RW for a daily joke. ANd talk to someone. We care about you.

Off for a cup a jo and to put all those puzzles away. Later! emoticon

Prayers for the people of New Zealand. I am feeling so bad for them to have such a terrible thing happen.

My friend had her furniture delivered today, so hoping that she can spend more of her evenings at home. She has been sleeping there, but with no furniture in the living and dining rooms, she has been spending her evenings at my house. I will be glad to have a few evenings to myself.

Am sitting at my computer lettting the sun shine down on my face. It is about to move out of this window, but hoping it will help while I have it.

Sorry for being MIA, but have been suffering some depression from the Seaasonal Affective Disorder that strike me when I do not get enough sun.

have not had it this bad since I retired to tell you the truth.

Think it is worse because of all of the bad weather and not wanting to go out into the ice, snow etc.

My driveway is cleared, so I am going to get out a bit a little later.

I can deal with these feelings because I know that they will pass, but I am fighting the depression as best I can, knowing that it will pass soon.

Pray for sun my friends.

Will be more active once I am feeling a bit better. Will try not to miss a whole day again, it is not good for me actually, but if I do, I will be bacccccccck!

God Bless you all my friends.

Morning all and welcome RENEE always nice to have new people

NJJAZZ- I enjoy those estate sales too- a lot of things you wouldn't be able to find in the stores and much more character.

RW- I think I was born with quit a few "birthday presents" and seem to be collecting more all the time lol

Lista- so glad you are enjoying the nice warm stuff-- could you bring some north with you when you come home?

Bonnie- How is the move going (your friends)?

Day 5 of boot camp- getting a little tougher. Found a Zumba class close enough (30 min) that I could give it a try. Going to meet up with a local sparker (45min) at the class and give it a try. Looks a little intense for me - but I'll give it a try.

Keep up the spark-- spring is around the corner and the warmer winds and green everything will put a spring in our steps.

I am having a fun time on the road trip with my husband. Driving to see a customer in Gainesville, Florida and then off to Jekyll island, SC for the weekend. Being on the road is challenging in making good food choices. Sometimes you just don't have the good selection. I'm finding that splitting a meal is a good alternative because they always serve too much. Just as long as DH and I can agree on something it's good. But I think I'm doing good. It is so nice to bein warmer weather and to be able to sit outside and eat breakfast was a treat this morning.

Good Morning, another weekend ahead of us...it's perfect weather here in Florida.
Yesterday I went to a dermatologist for the first time ever and she did the complete body scan for me. Only one place on my neck that she had to take a small biopsy,,,everything else is ok. I asked her what about all the little brown things around my neck and she said quote"those are little birthday presents"...I laughed at that! So there's no need to be concerned about them any more.
Hope you all have a great day

Mel, you are absolutely right about the credit cards. At one time I had nine of them and finally am down to three. In the past couple months I have paid off three of them. Being on a fixed income sometimes they are a necessity, but I am really trying to go cash and carry.

Good Friday afternoon all.

AD - Yes, pretty cool poem. It actually makes you smile just reading it.

Lois - I think the best thing about credit cards is not to have them. If DH and I haven't the readies for anything we need, we just don't buy until we have.

Sue - Well done on Level 2 shred dvd. Yes, that level is certainly more challenging. It's a great workout. Glad your DH is coming home. Not much fun on your own.

Margaret - Gee, you're not having much luck with the welfare of your horses. Sorry to hear that.

Wishes for everyone to have a sparktacular Friday!

From light snow and ice to rain. Luckily the rain started to fall after the kids had afternoon recess. But tomorrow it will definitely be indoor recess because of more rain and high winds.

So far it's been a good diet and exercise week. already prepped my lunch and snacks for tomorrow. Breakfast is also already planned out. Just need to decide about dinner.

Not a great weekend to look forward to since there will be more rain up to Monday. Still wishing that Spring weather would show up and stick around for more than a day or two.

That's it for now.

Hi all, stopping in on the run. Day 4 of the boot camp and it's not to bad at all really i was expecting a grueling workout lol.

the veterinarian came yesterday to check on Zahra all looks well and with the continued banaging and rate of healing for the next 2 weeks she shouldn't need anymore bandages etc. Just rest and heal. The bad news is our other horse (my daughters) has hurt her leg now ! What is this!! Anyway she will need special care for the next 6-8 weeks . UGH!

But in perspective I still feel very blessed and shouldn't complain AT ALL!!

Auntiedarling- congrats on sustaining your weight loss for so long -- good job!!

Lynn- That's wonderful that you can get 3 miles in - how nice to have walking buddies. Is your husband interested in walking too- if he feels up to it? I imagine he needs some extra TLC with all that has happened. All the best to you - blessings and take care.

To all you other spark buds - keep up the good work

Good morning! (still morning on my coast...)

I am glad to hear that your teeth are okay LMMIMI, and I loved the story about the
dentures and the cruise scavenger hunt. I have just realized how badly I have been grinding my teeth, so we will see how they hold up. (I have been given night guards, but I am gifted at taking them out after I fall asleep, because they're not comfortable).

I need my car at work today, so I won't walk the whole way, but I will park in the lot that's
25 minutes from my office. I still need to pack my lunch.

I am determined to have a good day today, and here's a wish for a good day to all of the
rest of you!

Hopefully I can leave the dental discussion behind me now. Just finished having a discussion with one of my credit card holder. I urge everyone to keep track of what is going on with any of your accounts and make sure you are all on the same page. I believed when I was told in January that the account was paid in full and got a surprise today with a new bill even with late fees. Thankfully it has been resolved, but only because I took the time to dispute the charge. My kids give me a bad time when I pursue different issues and just don't except something if I think it doesn't look right. Maybe it is an old age thing. Sometimes you may not like the answer, but at least you have voiced your concern. Have a good day.

Harriettbird, have a great vacation.

My first day of vacation is off to a great start with a 2+ mile run/walk. I'm able to run a little longer all the time which I am so excited about. Lost just a bit more this week - slow but steady. This next week I'm hoping to just stay the same. We are heading up to Michigan for 2 days of skiing this afternoon. I know I will be doing a lot more snacking than normal, and those adult beverages are always loaded with calories. But I'm taking lots of healthy things to eat - fruit, carrots, celery, string cheese, etc. Plus skiing will burn a few calories - but I'm what you would call a leisure skier- pretty conservative (too old to be wild a crazy, too afraid of breaking a leg!!) so I won't burn up an awful lot of calories. But I am not going to be overly worried about it. It's only one weekend and next week I can get serious again.

Congrats AD - staying at a steady weight for 6 years is fabulous!!!!

LMMIMI - so glad you don't need braces. I had a root canal last fall - not fun but wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. I think we caught it early enough so it wasn't infected or anything like that.

Have a great weekend. I won't have a computer for a few days so I'll catch up with everyone when I get back!

Good Thursday afternoon all.

Smile

Smiling is infectious; you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too.

I passed around the corner and someone saw my grin
When he smiled I realized I'd passed it on to him.

I thought about that smile then I realized its worth,
A single smile, just like mine could travel round the earth.

So, if you feel a smile begin, don't leave it undetected
Let's start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected!

Brenda-Your soup sounds yummy! Great weather for it, hmm?

Sue-Your daugher has lost 8-9 pounds using P90x so far? That is really encouraging and motivates me! I already skipped a day. I was in training all day and was exhausted from it. I will pick back up tomorrow, for sure.

Mel-I can't wait to try out my elliptical! :-)

RW-Thanks for the chuckle-I always love the jokes you share with us.

NJ-We are getting a little bit of warmer weather here, too. Let's hope Spring is just around the corner!

AuntieDarling-What a hilarious story! That probably wasn't the kind of cruise memories you wanted to bring home-lol!! Congrats on keeping your weight off for 7 years! That's fantastic!!

LMMIMI-That must be such a huge relief about your teeth being ok, aside from the one....I used to have recurrent nightmares that all my teeth fell out of my mouth!

Lynn-Great that you've kept up with your walking!! :-)

Auntiedarling, Congrats on the good report.

Haven't been following the news about the earthquake too closely because having lived in Peru for several years, we had our own scares about earthquakes. And since I was born and raised in CA, another place known for earthquakes, news of earthquakes in other places brings back too many uncomfortable memories. But I hope for the best for those in New Zealand.

Still sticking to healthy eating. But temptation showed up at work this morning in the form of a King Cake. Happy to report that I looked at it and walked away.

Good News. Saw my dentist this morning and thankfully what I thought was a major problem was not especially at this time. I may have a dead tooth which is part of a nine tooth bridge, but for now everything is okay. I may in the future have to have a root channel on that tooth, but will cross that bridge when and if it happens. I was so relieved and thought why do we always jump to the conclusions. Thank you everyone for your positive thoughts emoticon

Morning all

Funny story for those who have or will have dentures:

3 years ago we went on a cruise with some friends. One night they had a sacvanger night in the night club lounge. We all went to watch and NOT particpate. The people there have done this many times as we watched. They came in with bags of things that they knew would be asked for, such as panties, bra's, socks, pants, etc. Well then they called for a pair of dentures. Well the group next to us needed some to win. Low and behold yup my hubby took his out of his mouth and gave them the dentures to win the game. ". emoticon Then another group borrowed them from the first group. I was appalled while laughing my girlfriend and I were laughing so hard we we had tears in our eyes. Well anyway the annoucer said to the second group "hey those look farmiler they can't belong to both groups. Then he asked who they belonged to and my hubby said they were his. The entire group of 500 started laughing so hard and they took his picture on the video they were making of him rinseing them off with vodka and putting them back into his mouth. They gave him a ship hat for being a really good sport.

Well my friends hubby is having his teeth removed this week and will be getting dentures. My friend was laughing so hard as she was trying to tell us at dinner because she kept trying to say "now both of them can lend out their teeth.

It was really funny I gues you'd have to be there.

This was suppose to help those that need "denture support emoticon

good morning everyone!

After years of scrimping and saving, a husband told his wife the good news: "Honey, we've finally saved enough money to buy what we started saving for in 1979."

"You mean a brand-new Cadillac?" she asked eagerly.

"No," said the husband, "a 1979 Cadillac."

Good Wednesday afternoon and a warm welcome on this thread to all the newbies.

Kathy - People are still trapped in the rubble in Christchurch. I notice you have bought an elliptical. I have recently purchased a Sports magnetic strider. They are a really good workout machine and I use mine every day.

Steve - Enjoy your bowling. I hope the visit from BIL and SIL goes well too.

NJJAZZ , Rosie, Lois, AD, Margaret - Yes, prayers to all in Christchurch, New Zealand. It's pretty bad.

Lois - I hope your dental problem gets sorted and you don't have to get dentures. I've had dentures for 44 years so it's been a long time since I've bitten into an apple, lol.

Margaret - Sounds like Zahra is coming along OK. It's a slow process this healing.

Brenda - Yes, Christchurch looks like a war zone. Unbelievable.

Sandy - Yes, their last earthquake was 6 months ago and would definitely have weakened a lot of building structures. Enjoy your tv show.

Lynn - Nearly 2 months gone already! It doesn't seem that long since you moved. Time flies and blow flies, lol.

Mary - No news from my other friend as yet. Thanks for asking. Also thanks for leaving a comment on my blog today. Enjoy your little break from work.

Sue - Yes, the ANZAC spirit prevails. Enjoy your two days off girlfriend; sounds like you've earned them.

Hang loose everyone and enjoy your Wednesday.

Hi all,

Today was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and temps in the upper 20's. By the time I came home the highways are all cleared off.

LMMIMI - good luck with the dentist. That is one of my least favorite places to go. I had to have my first root canal in November. Definitely not fun. I feel for you.

Mel - glad you heard from your one friend that is safe. Did you hear from the other one? Your part of the world has sure had it rough lately.

I got my 2+ mile run/walk in on the treadmill tonight. Now I need to start working on the laundry. We are heading to the UP of Michigan Thursday as soon as the kids get home from school. We're going to get in 2 days of skiing/snowboarding. The adults ski and the kids snowboard. I am sooooo looking forward to having 2 days off work.

take care all!!

Good Tuesday evening. It is cold, windy and still icy. Supposed to warm up the next few days then bang we will be hit again with snow, ice and cold. A lot of power outages in our area, but not for me, thank you. One DGD had no school for the day and the other one had to go.

I am still running from school to school to pick up children. Good grandma am I.

Managed to make breaded pork chops for dinner with rice and broccoli and a spinach salad with tomatos, peppers and edamame. Hard with 3 girls running around and making demands on G-ma. Had enough left over to feed DS and his wife and DD and her family. I guess I got carried away. The chops were huge and I had to cut them in half and we still had enough to eat.

Wlecome to all our newbies. You will love this group. We all take care of each other.

Bonnie- hope you get a good nights rest.

Steve hope you bowled well with either ball you chose.

Mel- So awful about your neighbors in New Zealand. The devastation is terrible. Bet a lot of the buildings were weakened by their last quake , what was it, 6 mos. ago? Keep all in my prayers.

Tired and ready for an early bedtime but part 2 of one of my fav TV shows is on tonight. Will shower early and watch in bed.

Will keep in touch. Have agreat evening. emoticon

Good Morning,

I sat and looked at all the pictures on the internet of the devastation in New Zealand and it is just horrendous. I don't have TV anymore because my cable bill went up as well as my rent so the cable had to go. Pictures of dead bodies and injured people everywhere, collapsed buildings and homes and crushed cars, flooded streets. Unbelievable. My heart goes out to them.

Lista, I hope you were able to get to a clinic and get checked out and you are recovering.

LIMMIMI, have you checked into having implants? My friend just go them and he loves them.

Steve, I really enjoy reading your posts about all your activities. You make me laugh. You seem to be a really happy guy.

My soup is really good, although it is more like stew because there isn't enough broth and I don't have any canned to add to it. It was finally cooked by 8 last night and I ate two mugs full and a WASA cracker. Yum!!! For the meat, I cooked two hamburger patties, about a half pound, then cut them in tiny pieces before I added them. I didn't think they would be enough but get some with every bite. I always buy ground beef in bulk and make patties and wrap and freeze them so I can just use what I need.

The sun is shining brightly but about 4" of snow is predicted by morning and really cold temps.

I hope you all have a good day. Sending good thoughts your way.

Hi all,

Mel- so sorry to hear of the tragedy in New Zealand will keep them in prayer.

Welcome to our new Sparkers!!

Been out shoveling this morning (can't handle it all at once) , cleaned zahra's stall and changed her bandage. There is still some swelling but it looks okay otherwise - the vet is coming out tomorrow to have a look. No riding for a couple more months- my biggest fear is she will become a large pasture pet.

Well, off to boot camp (sounds funny) lol

Need to get more hay this afternoon.

Hello everyone,

Welcome all the newbies- I'll catch up with with you all soon on the chat. Glad you found us.

Lista- we had a few snow squalls on Monday but it cleared out. emoticon I hope you feel better and your not sick the whole trip. Brenda is right you should get yourself checked out if you can.

Mel- I am keeping the people in New Zealand in my prayers. That was a terrible thing to happen. I 'm glad your friends are safe

Steve- glad your bowling is going well and Hope you enjoy your visitors

Limmimi- hope your dentist visit goes well.

They say if you listen to someone elses' problems yours look small in comparsion. I always think of that in the middle of a crisis "when I remember " that my problems and conserns are very tiny compared to those in need at the current time.

Hope all have a wonderful day.
