Brenda, so true. Nice and easy does it. And when I don't want a meal but I want a pseudo meal, I'll take an apple like that (really crisp) and the health store fresh ground peanut butter, and put just a tad on each piece. Wha la. I also try for 5 x a day food rather than 3 meals.

You go, girl!

Well, it takes three of four hours for your previous meal to digest. Myself, I eat something every couple hours--three meals plus a piece of fruit in between. I am getting ready to eat my afternoon Fugi (half pound) apple. I wash and core it and slice it into 16 slices and eat it slowly and it is very satisfying. When eating a meal it should take you at least 20 minutes to send the signal to your brain that you have eaten. I think fast eating makes you eat more than you need to.

Happy journey!

Bab,
I know late eating is a problem for us. Certainly, in other countries with other patterns and menus, it's another matter.

When I eat a late lunch, because I can only speak for me, I eat a much lighter dinner.

You are right to do lunch as late in the afternoon as they will serve those portions, but I think Japanese cooking is low cal by comparison to many other nationalities. There is no fat on the foods themselves whatsoever. So the oil for stir fry is a healthy kind and proportionate.

Mexican - problem, but Japanese, you can work it out.

Just eat light the day before and there should be no problem for you. That there would be soy sauce is high salt (I swell from that) but it is a short term problem.

Relax and just feel the joy. He's proud and happy and celebrating in a healthy way. I mean, this 'ain't no pizza and cokes' kind of crap.

I don't like to eat out because I don't know what they do to the food. I eat out twice a year and that is pushing the button. Mostly I don't like the menu and it is too expensive.

It is great that your son is getting high grades. Have you suggested going to play mini golf, bowling or some other sport instead of using food as a reward?

Maybe just eat in moderation. It is hard to control how foods are made when you go out.

Well one of the rewards we have for our son is when he gets a good report card, he gets to pick a restaurant for the meal of his choice.

Well he got all A's and one B this past semester, and he want to go to a Japanese Hibachi grill!

While chock full of vegetables and some lean meats, Teppanyaki chefs normally load up the grill with oils, butters, and tons of soy sauce.

I talked him into going for lunch vice dinner, which may limit the portions somewhat, but this is going to be a tough one!
