gorgeous weather here mid 60's with a warm south wind.
Had a nice long ride and then a nice long soak in epsom salts. LOL Great Day! Came back ravenously hungry but did good with chicken breast, salad, roll. Will definitely have a snack since I'm still hungry. LOL

Bonnie-- you are such an inspiration always seeing
the up side and keep going no matter what. You are an inspiration. Hope your therapies etc. have you in good shape real soon.

Take care everybody and enjoy the sun. If you don't have any yet I hope it comes your way soon. Hang in there.
Blessings,
Margaret

AD,

Here'e my two cents worth about car insurance. Here in the State of Washington we have a law that says we have to have car insurance, then the insurance companies make us add underinsured motorists for those who don't have insurance. So we have a 'catch 22' and I don't think it's fair. We don't have to show proof of insurance when we register our car. If/when someone gets into an accident, if they don't have insurance they are fined several hundred dollars by the police. So here we go, laws that are made that no one pays any attention to. So what does the poor person do who is hit by someone without? Sue them. You can't get blood out of a turnip.

All I can say is, Bonnie, good luck. But if I were you I would get a lawyer. They don't get paid unless you do and here they get one third of the settlement. I had to do that once when an off-duty cop ran into my catering truck and I had to go through several months of physical therapy. Long story.

Bonnie- was the person you had the accident with did she own the car or was she borrowing it. In this state you can't register a car without insurance of any kind put on it. You should do some serious digging on that person. If for nothing but knowing that you searched and found all things out.

Morning

It is still raining here and it's a dreary day. We are suppose to see it stopping later tonight and tomorrow the sun they tell us will be coming out. We are suppose to be in the 80 for Easter Sunday so I guess there will be a happy ending come the weekend.

Bonnie - Dakotacat is right you really need to check with a lawyer and see what other benifits you are entitled to. The insurance company won't tell you as they don't want to fork over the moeny to help you get well. You could have all your medical bills and prescriptions covered. In this state when you sue a person for a car accident all you are really sueing is her insurance company. I really think going to a lawyer is very sound advice. Most do not charge you for the first visit so please check it out.

Prayers for your DGD. Hope they can help her with out hospitalizating her. Allergies are so difficult to deal with.

MARTE

Enjoy all of your virtual vacations! Good idea.

Also, I had both of those test done a few months ago. The prep they gave me was no where near as bad as I expected, and the procedures were really no big deal. You will stay home for that day before and will be kind of sleepy the day of, but I was surprised.

I also put it off, and it was just no big deal. I was so groggy, I was looking at the pictures of my stomach and Dr was telling me about it. Kind of cool.

DAKOTACAT

I am not understanding what you are saying about there being more insurance?

She did not have any, and mine is covering what is it is responsible for. Please explain.

I am doing pretty well again today, so I am more hopeful.

When you speak of waking up every hour, I must ask, Have you had a sleep study done? I have had sleeping problems for about 20 years, maybe more. I just blamed it on my menopause, stress, etc. About 5 years ago, I had a sleep study, and found that I have sleep apnea. I now sleep with a Cpap machine.

I do not believe that I would have lost any of the weight I have lost, had I not begun using the machine. I have really fought a hard battle because I am claustrophobic, but my dr has been with me and helping with drugs that relieve the anxiety, but do not make me groggy. NOT sleeping pills. Also works with me on other ideas and aids. Have finally found a mask that does not make me feel as though I cannot breath, etc. Tough battle, but so worth it.

He told me Monday that I am averaging 6 hours of sleep a night. I see him once a year. I still have some sleepless nights, but do so much better. He is not happy about the average of 6 hours, he wants 8, and actually so do I, but the improvements in my life from just getting the 6 are wonderful. I am working on getting 8, that is my goal, but just like everything else, one day at a time.

I actually have a small amount of damage in my heartbeat from the years of no treatment. It is much more serious than people realize to not get enough sleep. I was lucky, my problem is not too bad in my heart.

I am the ambassador on this thread, for sleep studies. I have benefitted greatly.

The sun is shining here Yea! I am going to have lunch with 2 of my cousins, and then go to Dr Mike for a treatment.

I will be right by my favorite metropark after lunch, so if I am feeling good enough, I will go for a small walk before going for my therapies and treatments.

Had all 4 kids yesterday for about 4 hours. We had a good time, we had missed each other since I am not babysitting right now. Good to see them.

Enjoy your day whatever your plans!

Good Weds. morning! emoticon Sun is shining, still cold but will be a balmy 68 by afternoon. 78 by Friday! That's summer here on the Lake Erie shore.

To bad it won't last for Sunday as I would love to make use of the deck for after dinner. Oh Well.

Have another busy day ahead. Should get those pansies planted and have some errands to run this morning as well as getting in a walk. Maybe even rake out some of the flower beds to get the leaves off the daffodils. Love the little bit of color from the crocus. emoticon

Have a great day all! emoticon emoticon

founder, sounds like you're having a rough time. have you considered seeing an attorney if you haven't already? i work for personal injury attorneys and there may be more insurance out there than you realize. it doesn't always mean going after the at-fault person for what they own. insurance in florida isn't what you're describing, but it might be worth a call for peace of mind. good luck!

have you tried folic acid? some of the girls at work swear by it. i'm taking it, but can't swear to results. i consider it a good night if i only wake up 3 times--most of the time it's at least every hour and it usually takes me an hour to fall asleep. and to think i used to think my dad was crazy for complaining about not sleeping!

Auntie Darling: My DGD is lactose intolerant and also has an allergy to fructose, corn syrup, dextrose and sucrose. Very limited on fruits and veggies too. Have to get a sunflower butter and can't have jelly. Can eat a cookie or two but not more.

We don't know if this is food related as we took her off of everything. Water even bothers her but she knows she has to eat something for sustenance. My DD keeps looking thngs up on the internet that scare me as to what her problem might be. We will just wait for the doc. Thanks for the thoughts.

Fog still hanging around the edge of the lake. We are surrounded, but go up the street, south of us for about a 1/2 mile and the sun is a shining. Weather is so cool! Love all these little things.

Bonnie: glad you on the road to recovery.

Kathy: How are you? haven't heard from you for awhile. Recoupin okay?

Lots to watch on the old tube tonight. DWTS, American Idol and Biggest Loser. There are so many other nights when nothng is on and they have to put it all on one night. Networks!

Have a great evening all! emoticon emoticon

Good to hear from you! Glad you have lost a bit, and are enjoying your crocheting! Congrats.

As far as the medical bills are concerned, I have $5,000.00 in coverage from my uninsured motorists coverage. I am hoping not to go over that. My insurance company will go after her for the bills, but I know the expeditures they have made will come first, and then maybe I could get my $250 deductible for my car, and additional money if I need more treatment. Not holding my breath for any of that. Just grateful that I have what I do because of the uninsured motorist protection on my insurance policy, they did give me money for the old car, actually more than I ever thought it was worth, so I am grateful for that too.

I am not looking for any more money, as I am sure this woman owns nothing, has no money etc. Can't get blood from a turnip as my mom has always said!

Feeling better today, so that is a blessing. Just hoping to get better, and to be able to enjoy the new car now that I have it. Just about every day since the accident, I have woken up and wanted my old Honda back. That will change too. I am leasing a very nice brand new car, and I will love it as soon as I get over being angry about having to buy it! These feelings pass, but I am finding they will go in their own good time! I tried to rush them, and that did not work, so I am now just accepting them, and working through it.

Funny how one split second, as they say, can change so much! Just glad it was not worse, and no one else was injured.

Have a great day all.

ERIESHORES would your DGD have a problem with lactose. I had the problem and was always in pain and they could never find the reason then one dr(thankgoodness) tested me for lactose intolerant and yup that was it and after a diet change and going bland for quite awhile the pain went away and i only get it if i have dairy products straight or in alot of other foods.

I wish her well and a speedy recovery

Good Tuesday all! Pretty foggy here. Waiting for sun to come out and burn it away. Keeps trying.

Bought pansies only today. Will pot later or plant tomorrow. Just finished making my beet/horseradish concoction that every one like with Easter dinner. Will drop some off at a friends later. Still have cleaning to do and checking tablecloths for spring.

One DGD not feeling well. SHe is the one I am closest to. SHe has had a myriad of medical problems in her 10 yrs. After a day in the ER lat week with no definitive results, she has an appointment with her GI doc on Friday. I have a feeling she will be staying in the hospital for Easter while they try to figure out what is causing her stomach pain. Wish I could just wish it all away for her. She still tries to remain perky. What a trooper.

Off to e-mail my doc office as DH company (our company) changed medical ins. so I have to get my scrips changed over.

Have a great day and keep smilin! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi all,
Just a quick check in... busy Holy Week.

Doing good with food choices and exercise went down a pound but I'll wait and see if it stays there LOL.

Planning a traditional big Easter dinner. Wish me luck making good choices for our plate.

Catch ya later...
Blessings,

Hi Everyone,

I am so far behind with all the messages as far as posting but I have read them all. My internet connection has been acting up but it is a free server so I can't complain, so I won't. I am just grateful that I don't have to pay for it.

The afghan I started about a month ago is finished except to tie up the loose ends on one side. It is shorter than it's supposed to be because I ran out of the multi-colored yarn and can't find anymore so it is a lap rug. It is very pretty. Now to figure out what I'll do with it because it doesn't go with any of my colors. So why did I choose greens? The yarn was given to me. I might just give it to Ramona down the hall. She lost most of her belongings in the 2007 flood so she doesn't have much and she is diabetic plus a good friend. She just sold her house and has been buying furniture--chest of drawers and bookshelves, kitchen things. I gave her some towels and some other things she needed a few months ago. There are many sad stories here.

Bonnie, I am so happy to hear you got a new car and are getting better. Question: Do you have to pay your own medical bills from the wreck? I don't know how it works when someone has no car insurance. It all seems so unfair. I think if a person can't afford insurance, they should not be driving. Period.

Welcome to all of our new members. Off-hand I can't remember names. I envy everyone who are going on trips over the Easter holiday. It's just another day for me and many other's here.

There was a wind and rain storm last night and it woke me up at 4. I could see the rain blowing down the highway. We had no power outages or damage in our area but they got plenty up North of Seattle along with a lot of hail.

I have been eating very healthy and have lost a couple pounds while making my afghan/lap rug. My fingers got skinnier and they don't hurt anymore. The downside of crocheting so much is I don't do a lot of walking so I make myself stop and go for a walk around the building (inside).

Have a Happy Holiday!!

Happy Passover, or Happy Easter, or just Happy Spring, pick the one that suits you best, to all of my Spark Friends.

ZSA ZSA

I know the whiplash that I have is not nearly as bad as it could be. I am grateful for that. However combined with the degeneration and arthritis already in my neck, it is a bit scary. I asked Dr Mike today if he can fix me, and he said yes, so I feel a bit better.

He said I could exercise as long as it did not hurt, so I went to the Y and did 15 slow minutes on the treadmill.

Not what I am used to doing, but after not exercising since January 16 or so, I have to begin slowly anyway. Felt good to do something. Went for my therapies and adjustment after.

Actually my upper back is more affected than my neck as far as hurting goes. I do have some problem turning my head, but no where near the problems you had with yours.

I had more to say, but my back is hurting now, so I will quite!

Happy Monday! The start of what should be a warm and busy week preparing for Easter. emoticon

Discovered Genisoy soy crisps with cheese today. What a delightful snack for 120 calories. With a large glass of water it was delish. Satisfied that need for crunch.

Had a busy weekend even with the rain. Glad that is all going to change soon. Headed for the nursery tomorrow to pick up some pansies and primrose to brighten the front porch for company. Have some cleaning left to do and some cooking ahead so I can enjoy the day. Saving buying the fruit for our salad til friday. Hope there is some left. Hate buying to earlier cause it either gets eaten or goes bad quickly.

Will try to keep up all week. Hope everyone is well or healing quickly.

Keep smiling, we can get thru anything together! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'll take a virtual trip with you since I'm sure that it would be impossible for me to get my long legs folded up into the suitcase. Do any of you ever take virtual trips when your friends are off somewhere special?

During the times they are gone I always think about my friends and wonder what they might be doing at that point in time. "Are they lying down by the pool reading a good book or bouncing around in the waves? Maybe they are off exploring some neat old historical home?"

It's fun (to me anyway) to imagine what they are up to and it sure brings a smile to my face to know that they are enjoying some good times. I like to enjoy the good moments since they can sure temper how we deal with the bad times when they come.

Yes Dianna, I did work with SpecEd Behavior students in a contained classroom. The years I spent teaching there certainly have given me some memories!
emoticon
Bonnie, there just might be some good news in your situation! You said that you are still able to drive your car. Both times when I had whiplash I wasn't allowed to drive since my noggin and neck were so firmly locked in place that I couldn't move them at all. I sure developed a great set of 'shifty' eyes trying to see things!! LOL

I relied on being taken everywhere by my kids. Luckily, the two older ones both had their licenses by then. They didn't complain as much as they could have when their 'services' were required to take me to physio every day because the bonus was that my car was 'free' for the taking for the rest of the day(and Mom was filling the tank). Yech! Still wouldn't want to go through that again.

Oh, I did my yearly duty and had my physical today. I think I was given an A+ for BP and weight so that was wonderful. I had my tetanus shot, some bloodwork, and got all the requisitions for the other tests. Another ultrasound, yet another mammogram (I should be glowing from all that I've had now), and my favorite- the colonoscopy!

After all this, I'll be completely remodelled and retrofitted. Maybe I'll trade in the one I've got and look for a new younger model!
emoticon (I wonder what DH would say to that?)

I'm making a roast chicken for dinner tonight so I suppose I should get moving on that. Chicken is about the only meat that I eat now after all the other stuff I went through. My brain seems to have done ridiculous things making 'connections' to different foods. You might say I've become just a little 'picky' about what I'll eat much to my family's dismay. If I won't eat it, I won't cook it.

Truth is, I don't even like eating anymore. When I was in the stores on the weekend I actually looked away from a lot of the Easter chocolate because it turned my stomach. I used to be the world's biggest lover of anything chocolate. In fact, people used to give me bookds about chocolate!!

I guess everything really is mind over matter. If the brain can affect us this way by telling us NOT to eat something because it will make us sick, we should probably listen to it more often when it is telling us OTHER stuff. Need to get that chicken in the oven or the troops will be revolting!

BAGLADY77--we all have those days. So don't worry you are back on track.

I'm worried about my exersise plan. emoticon I made myself top prioty during lenten season. I made myself take care of me and now that it is over I don't know if i'll have the push to keep going. So far i've worked out over 1100 minutes emoticon this month which is 100 more than last month and I still have 3 days left. I pushed myself to go to jazzersise 3-4 days a week for the the hours classes and curves 3-4 days a week for the 30 min circuits. Plus I walked a mile everyday it didn't rain emoticon

Hi everyone. The weather is warming here but we are so dry we really need moisture and lots of it.

RW - good luck with your tests, prep is not fun

Bonnie - I sympathize with you, Im still down in the dumps from my 3 months of being sick. Hoping Spring will knock it out of me. Hope you will feel better soon.

Last friday I was so down I sat and ate nearly a whole dish of gummy candy. So much I felt sick to my stomach little lone how guilty I felt. But Im back on track eating and walking again. Its so discouraging when I dont loose and even gain some weeks. But what do you do. Bonnie you and I can have our own pity party!!
Have a great day

Good day,all...the sun is a shining here....beautiful day.....

RW-Good luck with all the prep stuff, for your impending tests, there bud..I work on a medicine floor, and GI problems, are one of my specialties...so I'm quite familiar with the preps for your tests....not,a pleasant experience for sure...take it easy.....

Worked nights,this weekend,Fri-Sun. a.m., so I'm still tired...it's like having the hangover effect,without drinking.....have to shake myself,and get on the move...maybe I'll do my interval stuff,later on....

Bonnie-soo glad, you're on the mend...you still have some stuff on the go,but, you really take everything in stride, don't you? Guess, you do whatever you can,to get you through, hey?

Only 2 weeks from today,and we'll be in sunny Cuba....Yahhhh!!!! A well,deserved,holiday,I might add. Have worked alot of ot,this year,and I'm just about worn out...work wise,anyway....

Having a cuppa tea, now, and going to enjoy the rest of my day...

Health and Happiness,to you all...

RW- ask the doc for the new colonoscopy prep. It's easy and much better. Around here they tell you to get a 16oz bottle of mirlax and add it to you water, coffe, tea or ginger ale. Some tell you to make a gallon of water to mix the whole thing but we have found that it is easier to do by the glass then we have to take 2 duclox and we are good to go. That other stuff in a bottle at the pharmacy is enought to make one sick. My friend didn't ask for this alternative and she used the gallon stuff when she complained to the nurse the day of the test the nurse's respond was" why didn't you ask for the alternative mirlax treatment." oh well she will next time. good luck

Good morning everyone,

How are you doing today? Here in Florida we had a lot of rain yesterday and this morning, but I see the sun coming out now.
I'm going to Venice and visit mom at the nursing home this afternoon, she's about the same. Her hearing aid broke last week and we sent it in for repair, so I'll take it back to her today. She doesn't hear well anyway, even with the hearing aid.

I'll be getting a couple medical procedures this week, Thursday I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy (just routine) and then next Monday a endoscopy. The worst part of these tests are the preparation the day before.....oh well

Anyways, wish you all a "happy Monday"

Thanks Marte. From your lips to God's ears!

Not feeling too bad this morning. Only took a small piece of a muscle relaxant yesterday, and no Indocin. That stuff was making me crazy. Bad for my attitude.

The sun is shining this morming, good for my attitude, so I am counting on a good day.

Have an appointment with my dr for my sleep apnea today. I see him once a year if I am not having trouble, and haven't seen him since last year, so that is pretty good.

Will go to Dr Mike after that for thereapy and adjustment.

Hope you all have a good Monday!

Good to see you enjoying your vacation!

JOANNE

You are correct, all of this is a bit demoralizing. I am trying to stay positive, but it is difficult. I think part of the thing is you hear so many scary stories about other people who have had such problems with whiplash.

The concern is, am I making the right decision with my care, should I do nothing, or a little bit.

Today just stayed home because the last two days I went out and had to come home after an hour.

Do not like the drugs they gave me in the hospital. Had to take just a small corner of the muscle relaxant today as I was getting too tight in my upper back area. The anti inflamatory is almost as bad or worse than the muscle relaxant. If I find that I continue to need pills, I am going to go to my GP and have him perscribe something better.

I don't think it would be quite as difficult if I had not been ill for 9 weeks before it happened. I really just want my life back, and it doesn't seem to be happening very fast.

Hoping to be well by the time it is nice weather.

Ok, pity party over for today.

Going to my sleep dr tomorrow for my annual check up with him.

Will go to Dr Mike for a treatment, and then probably will be enough, so home.

One day at a time you know!

Have a good week all.

Good afternoon y'all,
We went to the DC Zoo and saw the Panda and walked and walked. I got lots of walking exercise today. After that, we saw Alice In Wonderland 3D afterwards and it was so much fun and very good. I am addicted to 3D. Anyway, I'm thinking of a large salad for dinner somewhere around our Hotel in Bethesda. I had a small bag of popcorn at the show, hahaha. Well, I'll figure out how much I can eat after figuring out the calories so far eaten. That's how you do it beachbum. It's all about choices. You need to change your profile that reflects your fitness calories, but I still stay on the low side of the recommended caloric intake range if possible. Bonnie is correct too. Good luck with all your efforts. Happy Spark'n stevegolfdog. emoticon

Founder, I hope you continue to heal and feel better. It all sounds a little discouraging to me, so I'm glad you're keeping your positive attitude!

ZsaZsa, I have taken Melatonin when I had trouble sleeping, and I'd say that 80% of the time it works great. Sleep is very important to me, I would be a basket case if I didn't get enough of it.

Beach Bum, I've been getting little reprimands from Spark, too, only it's when I run the daily nutrition report. I seldom get enough folate or fiber, and I've been getting too much fat! No wonder I haven't lost those last few pounds! I'm sure you're doing a great job and no doubt quite motivated.

It's a beautiful Sunday here in Minnesota. Sunny and mild!

Beach bum,

Maybe you need to eat a bit more? I know that sounds crazy, but if you are expending more calories, you want to decrease that deficit. To lose 1 pound a week, you have to eat 500 calories less than you use daily, to lose 2 pounds a week, you have to eat 1000 calories less than you use. To lose 1 to 2 pounds a week is a healthy goal.

Just a suggestion!

Just hang in there with your exercise, the weight will go. I think there are time when you are really exercising a lot that your body needs to take it's time letting go! Sounds like a good theory anyway!

Have a great time on your spring break.

ZsaZsa- so how do you get whiplash with little kids? Do you work with behavior disordered kids? Wow, don't think I"ve heard of anyone getting whiplash from kids?? You must have some pretty tough ones.
Speaking of students I had an interesting thing happen this week. I had to call a parent because the daughter was so horrible, disrespectful etc etc that day. The parent said she would take care of it. The next day I got an oral apology as well as a letter of apology from this 7th grade girl. We'll see if it works though, I haven't had her yet in class again. This week is a 3 day week since our spring break starts on Thursday. We are leaving for KY on Wed night though, can't wait!!
Bonnie, glad you are feeling better.
Welcome to all the newbies. So many. I haven't been very good at responding to everyone. Sorry. My weight has leveled out again, not sure what's the deal but for awhile I was losing and now it's back to staying the same. Need to put more effort into the diet part of it all. I do much better at the exercise part. I don't have a lot more to lose which seems to make it harder, but I'm determined to get the last 5 pounds off!
What is everyone doing for EAster?
take care

Hi everyone! Well, I finished my first week yesterday but I am still learning the ropes on SP. I was no-no'd on my fitness page because it said I had expended too many calories for my food intake. I didn't expect that because I have been missing my strength training after being sore from my fitness test (starting new activities when I am over 60 and have been sedentary for too long).

I hope everyone has a good Sunday - Steve, sounds like you are doing great on your trip. Thanks for all the encouragement!

So sorry to hear about your work injuries. That is definately a tough job you have.

Have you ever had a sleep test. I still have some problems, but the sleep apnea machine has made a great deal of difference for me. I can sympathize with you, but I do better than I used to. Do you have trouble with the time change? That really bothers me.

I am ok today. I went to my cousin's today, and to a friend's last night. Both times I could only sit for about an hour or so. At home I am not as bad because I can take the drugs. Don't want to take them and drive. I really don't think my whiplash is too bad. I am just not that patient right now.

STEVE

Glad you are enjoying your trip.

MARGARET

I can tell that you would come and clean for me if you could. I can feel it. Don't worry, my cousin Marilyn is coming on Wednesday to clean for me. Thanks for the good thoughts.

Not very tired tonight, not doing much, but should be able to go to sleep pretty soon. Made a pot of chili today, ate some today, but you know it is always better the next day. Derek will enjoy it after it sits, and Laura will eat some too. Cleaned up the kitchen and emptied the dishwasher etc.

Felt like I did something anyway!

Have a great Sunday all!

Hi to all, especially the new faces! SP is a wonderful place to hang around and meet new people. (I'm thinnking this won't be along post since I've had to retype about 10 words already as I seem to be developing an inability to put the letters in my words in the correct order. Maybe my students' spelling abilities are 'catching'. *shudders*)

I've spent a horrendous week of no sleep and tonight I'm going to try some melatonin. We'll see how that goes. I see a specialist and he's been trying to get me to use meds for a long time about 10 months now and if the melatonin doesn't work.....I may have to do that.

Between Wed. and Thurs. night I totalled 7 hours of sleep and I'm beginning to think it's not the best thing for my long term health. I don't have trouble staying asleep once I FINALLY get to sleep. It's just the getting there that is difficult.

I could probably write a book on every method that's out there (other than melatonin and drugs). My mom even with her dementia still complains about how I never slept even as a baby! (and she always remembers to tell me how my twin sister always DID!)

Oh well, when it doesn't happen I don't worry since it's so normal NOT to fall asleep. Probably the best method I've tried so far is to read a really boring technical book. Mind you, for someone else it could be just to read a mystery novel. Who knows what bores the next person!! lol

Bonnie, be careful with your neck. I've had 2 whiplash injuries at work in the last 4 years and I'll be enjoying their effects forever. Who says teaching young kids is a walk in the park? A tantrum by one of them can change your life. Both times I also had a concussion and I've found out since that each concussion 'adds on' to the previous one.

I hope everyone is enjoying the trips they are on or about to take! Relaxation will add years to your life.

On Friday night, I talked to my youngest DD (who is in her year of teaching out in Calgary) and she was about 4 hours into her Spring break at school. She said as soon as she got home from school she said she put on her fuzzy pyjamas and made a cup of tea and sat down and breathed a sigh of relief. I had a good laugh over that! (Mind you, as we talked she immediately began to regale me with tales of 'horrid' students who are giving her grief. All proof she hadn't put school completely out of her mind. She actually LOVES her job.)

Her complaint was that she couldn't go to the gym that night because she had slipped and fallen the night before and her knee was huge, swollen and bruised. "Grumble, grumble, grumble.....I can't work out!" I guess that's a better attitude than "Yeah, now I don't have to go to the gym!"

Anyway, I'm off to take my stuff and I need to be up early for my run tomorrow. 10k, great. I willingly signed up for this? (Could this be a sign of my brain not working due to sleep deprivation?)

I'll check in tomorrow. Last words of the night? Drink water and eat fruit and we'll grow healthy together.

Howdy y'all and thanks Margaret.
Well, it's crazy busy in DC. We got here late and missed out appointment to tour the Capitol Building. I was hoping to meet Richard Burr, our NC Senator. Anyway, we got stuck for hours in a traffic wreak. Oh well, It's going to be hard to stay on course with the eating being out in a road trip. I'm doing fairly well for now. I did have one slice of this great cheese pizza for dinner and that was it. I have fruit in the room and I'll have that for a snack later tonight. Anyway, keep on spark'n and lose that weight and get healthier, y'all. Later, stevegolfdog.

Trying to keep up with the chats. I thought I was doing pretty good because I took a 5-mile walk today. Here, everyone else is walking for miles playing golf or cleaning house and cleaning out barns! How can I keep up!?!

Was cloudy and cool today, but just brisk enough for that walk. Hope the rest of you are enjoying nice weather, too.

Bonnie, Thanks for the welcome! I am glad you are recovering from your accident and have wheels again.

RW, a belated thanks for this morning's coffee! Coffee is one thing I do not have to cut back on - it does not cause any problems for me (unless I don't have it I get a caffeine withdrawal headache). You may have seen jokes or comics with references to a Navy Chief and his coffee! That is where I started it.

Everyone, good luck and may you all stay safe on all your trips. This IS a busy group; I feel welcome and like coming here. I don't get online as often in the past day or two because I am trying to finish my taxes. Have a great weekend, all!

Hi Sparkers,

Beautiful sunshine and a little warmer today got out to clean stalls. What a workout- had to take it kinda slow though still not quite right. Oh well-- just keep movin'.

Bonnie-- if I could I would be glad to come and help you out. About 15- 20 years ago we had a real nice mom's group at our church and that is one of the things that we did for each other. If we were sick or just had a baby we would be there to help out as much as needed. Miss that sometimes - all the ladies have moved on. I think half of Michigan has moved on! LOL

Steve-- never been golfing but you make it sound like fun. Enjoy your weekend!

Blessings,
Margaret

Good morning everyone,
Well, I finally got a round of golf in yesterday and the weather got to 60 without wind and no rain. It was very nice and I enjoyed it alot. I really enjoyed playing with my sister and brother in law too. That's the start of my road trip to DC, Philly, Atlantic City, and Richmond, VA. I'll be picking my friend at the Airport this morning and try to make our appointment to tour the Capital Building with Sen. Richard Burr. I really hope he shows up but probably not on a Sat. I had chinese food last night for dinner. Man that food has a lot of calories in it so I only ordered Shrimp with Veggies. It did have this garlic sauce in it but I tried not to eat that juice. With all the golfing exercise I got, (because I played badly and found a lot of golf balls in the hill sides, LOL) I'm sure I had nothing to worry about with food eating. Besides, I had fruit as my snacks only throughout the day and night. That's a life style change. Well y'all, have a fun spark full day. stevegolfdog emoticon emoticon

Hi all,

Hi
Sandy I can sympathise with you on dress buying. If I had it to do all over again I would be a simply one that I could wear over and over again. I wore slacks to my 2nd son's wedding as they had an old fashion cook out, the best wedding every and all the guest thought all weddings should be like his.

Marte- glad you had a wonderful time in PR I sure wish we could take a mini vacation haven't had one in 2 years.

WILDWOMAN57
I know how you feel my DH made brownies last night and since i was feeling down this morning that is what I had for breakfast.

Jan - glad you could fly by

bonnie- I'm just catching up . Sorry to hear about your accident. I not fond of leasing seems like you give away your money because at the end of the 3 years you still don't own a car and then you have to either re-lease or buy one and if you buy the one you lease you are almost paying double. But i'm sure glad you were able to get a good deal. I hope you start to feel better. Whip lash is nothing to joke about. I know of someone that had whiplash so bad they told her tht she had brain injury from it and she couldn't drive for a few years and gets dizzy if she moves her head very quickly. It's a lasting effect so take care and do as the dr tells you

Sue- I glad you enjoy traveling to Cuba - to me it doesn't seem like a place someone would want to travel to. But I guess you prove them wrong.

I've been pretty good with the food until this morning. I've walked 3 miles this week and worked out 4 out of 5 days at both jazz and curves.

Welcome all the newbies I'm glad to see that you just jump in and chat that is the only way one gets in a word here. Lololo ALl of you have a wonderful day and enjoy Palm Sunday. Hopefully the weather will be better we had snow this morning for awhile and now it's just plain COLD

Thanks all for the good wishes. I will take my pills, and go to my chiropractor. I know that a whiplash does not sound like much, but it can leave you with lasting damage. So, I will do all of the tedious stuff to get better, and take the pills as I need them. I do not let myself have too much pain, as I do understand that it inhibits healing.

DIANNE

So glad you are doing well. Good idea in general to maybe take it a little easier. Hope you can get better hours at work.

Enjoy your Easter travels.

SUE

Enjoy Cuba. Sounds like a great vacation. Congrats on running so far, and in crappy weather too.

SANDY

Sorry about the really crappy weather. Will it be over soon, or does your winter run a bit longer than outs? Actually that was kind of silly, we never know when ours has ended until it is 90 degrees!

Have a great day all.

Good morning all!

Been a busy week and I just caught up.
Bonnie: Glad for the new car and please take care of yourself. Do not overdo which we tend to do when we have meds to help with pain.

Happy vacation to all on their way somewhere. Always good to have a change of scenery. Tends to perk one up. emoticon Hope it is sunny and warm for you.

Had a taste of winter again last night. The lake is just roaring out there with windchills in the teens.

Have a lot to do today as I worked the last 2 for DH.
Need e-check on my car, have to get candy for DGD's easter baskets, bank and grocery shop sometime this weekend. Then get ready for all our Holiday cooking traditions plus clean for 30 to come to Easter dinner. Plus a baby shower and Kiwanis pancake breakfast this weekend. ALways something to do. Gotta squeeze some exercise in there too.

Have a good one all. Stay healthy! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Bonnie, Sue is right. Take those meds and stay ahead of the pain. In the long run, they will help you get through this.

Sue, Can't wait to hear about your trip to Cuba. My DH has always wanted to go there.

Joanne, I love the Caribbean, too! Hope to retire there someday (in my dreams!).

Dianne, I can't imagine spending 2 hours in the car each day. Of course, I'm spoiled, because my commute is about 5 minutes if I make all of the lights.

Have a good night!

Hi all,

Dianna - yes, I have been back full time since January. I go in later though, and don't go out to lunch or the gym, so that I can leave at a reasonable time...usually 8 - 5 (I work a 9 hour day). My commute is nearly an hour one way too. Ugh. I am still considering asking for a shorter day...

Bonnie - congrats on the new car! Sounds nice! Good luck with the neck. Sorry you have to go through that.

I will be traveling soon too. I could not travel at Christmas, so we are going to visit my mom over Easter for a long weekend. She is in Central PA.

Talk to you all later!

Evening all!!! Hope you all had a good day.....

Joanne-Yes,I do live in Canada...Newfoundland....it's the most easterly province, one of 10 provinces, and 3 territories. It's an island...completely surrounded,by water. Not,the carribean kind, either!!!! It's cold, arctic, sea,water...try to swim in that....some do during the hot part of the summer, but, they are TRUE Newfoundlanders....thick-skinned,and rugged....not like me!!!

Can't wait for Cuba,I was there last year, and I liked it,alot....not the same as cruising, quite different,in fact...but,very pleasurable..the people are quite lovely, but touristy,of course!!! Isn't everyone not living in usa,or canada? I go for the warmth and relaxation..I'm not a drinker, may have one or two, maybe, over 2 weeks, you sure don't make any money off of me,doing that....Anyway,work has been crazy, and I do need some time to recharge my batteries,so to speak...Thanks,for asking, and I will definately post some pictures, for you to see..

Decided against the gym,did it outdoors today, even though it was horrible, outside.Rain, drizzle, and fog. It wasen't raining, when we started, but, started when I was almost finished..oh well.. Strange,I was thinking to myself,as I was running, how do those runners,do it in such horrible weather. And,here I am doing the same thing...I chuckled to myself..ironic,hey? We ran almost 41/2 miles, not bad,I guess...

Anyway, gonna do some more pilates tonight...that should finish me off for sure...ha,ha.

Bonnie-glad you have some wheels, back. Jetta's are, one cool car!!! I love them...hope you do? Too bad about your neck, and back...it will take time to heal, girlfriend, stand tuff!!! And,take those pain meds, that's what they're for. I don't think you're the type to abuse them,so take what you need, for now,at least until the pain, starts to settle a
bit...

You all have a lovely evening, talk tomorrow...

Spark On,
Sue/suehealth

Welcome Beachbum.

I thought I posted on this thread last night, but don't see it. Must be the drugs.

I did get a new car yesterday. Have to sign papers today. 2010 VW Jetta. It is a lease, which I never thought I would do, however, my nephew worked out a great deal with one of the salesmen and the manager where he works. I think I am going to enjoy it.

My whiplash is worse than I thought, Dr Mike thinks I will need at least 4 weeks of 3 times a week treatment. Saw the xray, my neck is pretty twisted.

Took drugs last night again, a bit better this morning, but when I don't take the drugs, been trying not to, I hurt.

Did not receive one email from SP this morning. Maybe this posting with help that.

Well, I left this post because I received a call from my insurance adjuster to come and get my check for my old car. It was more than I was hoping for, so that was good.

Went to get the paperwork done for the new car, now have a car payment to make, haven't for about 9 years. Will be really strange, and a little scary.

Had lunch with my mom so she could see the car.

Went to the credit union and deposited the check and came home, exhausted and with my back and neck hurting. Took drugs.

Got the mail, and received the bill from my cat scan of my sinuses and my xrays of my chest. The good news is that my deductible has been met. The bad news is I have a bill for $542.00.

How is it that they know you came in to some money?

Crazy life!

Have a great rest of the evening my friends, and a great day tomorrow.

SueHealth: I think you live in Canada, don't you? Is that why you can go to Cuba, which is off limits for us in the U.S.? Be sure to tell us all about it, and post photos if you feel like it. I love the Caribbean.

Such a busy group. It's interesting to see how different everyone is and going in so many different directions.

IFGodisforus-- have a restful vacation, hope you come back refreshed.

STEVE- hope you have a safe trip.

DD and I had a girls day out yesterday (had to do Dr. trip anyway so...) and ate at Olive Garden for the first time. SO Many temptations- if I ate at restaurants often I would be in big trouble! Had Salad, minestone soup and bread sticks, about fainted when I put the breadsticks on the calorie counter! Wow! Really wanted one of their chocolaty desserts but decided against it. We had a nice time together and did some shopping to decorate her room.

Back to business.... gotta get busy.

Happy sparking,
Margaret

Hi Everyone! Sounds like a bunch of you are traveling soon or getting ready to go somewhere. Can't wait to hear about your trips!

It's cloudy, windy, and cool in N. Texas today. Some major storms rolled through here last night. Sure wish it would stay sunny and warm for more than one day at a time. Hope it's nice where you are! Have fun Sparkin' today! Take care, y'all.

Thanks for the coffee and fruit, RW. In 1 day I'll be in FL enjoying it even more! Vacation's finally here.

I chuckled about the comments of talking about health when you're over 50....I catch myself doing it and then stop b/c that's not what I want to focus on in life...but I find I do it rather often. Listen to some younger people, though...it surfaces in their conversations, too. They forget lots of stuff, too, BTW.

Bonnie - we miss you! Wishing for you a complete recovery from the results of the car accident...and I hope your new vehicle is a joy from the start.

My challenge is to not gain one pound while on vacation. I can do this. My DH is very supportive, so that will help tremendously - choices of restaurants, not suggesting snacks, etc. Looking forward to reporting back on my success! Will record my intake & activity the old fashioned way - on paper.

Morning all,hope you're having a good day.

Stevegolf-I know all about the research stuff!!! There's still alot of it,out there, that's Govt.funded... that's all I'll say about that, for sure...you could go on and on about that subject. Hope you have a good road trip, bud, and at least be able to get in one game of your beloved,golf...

Weather here is just awful-rain,drizzle,and fog. I'm just thankful it's not snow, because that could surely happen!! It's only March, and we've had the dreaded stuff well into May,before...

Well, off to the gym, shortly, too miserable to work at it,outside...but,weather won't bother me too much, when I'm lying on the beach, in Cuba,in a little over 2 weeks!!!Did some pilates, last nite, and boy,I'm sure finding all kinds of aches and pains, this a.m. Guesss that's because it was the first time,in a long time, that I've done it...Good though...

Anyway,time to go,and do stuff....have a wonderful day,all!!!

cheers,

JAYELKAY, Sorry to hear you might have a future hip replacement in store for you. The best thing you can do is lose weight to take the load off your bones and joints and that is for everyone too. I don't like Stevia at all, but taste buds are all different. It just taste awful to me. I like Splenda and it cooks like sugar too. I don't like Splenda in soda's though because it's just too sweet. You use Splenda like you would sugar. There are some limitations but there are ways around them. I think Splenda is less expensive, as well and they have come out with a generic Splenda. I'll be off on my road trip tonight and it looks like rain most of the time. Oh well. You can't have everything. It looks like it will rain during my Friday golf outing too. I have my rain gear and I hope if it does, it does just a little. Y'all have a great Spark'n day. stevegolfdog emoticon

You are so right about the habit after 50 of talking about our health. I have had back problems, too, but strength training helped that. There are so many other aches and conditions we find ourselves discussing, and afterwards I have to laugh! Remember thinking it was odd that "old people" talked like that?!? You have to laugh, that's all I can say.

Steve, that study sounds very interesting. My dad, both his sisters, and his mother all had hip replacement surgery when they were in their early 80's. I think I know what's ahead, for me. Maybe I'll find myself using that medicine.

I walked over 2 miles today, and it was very hilly. A good workout for my heart and legs. Thank goodness for this sunny weather!

Hi all,
Welcome to the newcomers make yourself at home.

WAN2BHIKING-- Thanks for the info on the yogurt differences. I think I'll try the stevia idea since I don't like sugar either but haven't gotten all of it out of my diet yet. I've tried the Oikio (spelling?) brand it is very creamy but is a little on the sour side so maybe adding a little stevia would solve that.

LOIM2BG-- glad to see you! Hope all is going better for you.

Went to my Chiro. today. What a blessing to be able to get that kind of help. I tell you I don't know how I lived with it before I started going there.
I have scoliosis in the center of my spine and reverse curvature in my neck which was pinching some nerves and causing pain and numbness in my right arm. Not much can be done about the scoli. problem except put the bottom disc back in place when it slips out emoticon . But the neck problem is getting better and better and can do a lot that I couldn't do for quite some time.

Hmmm... I guess I'm over 50 ... have a tendency to ramble about health probs.

Anyway ... life is good again and I'm back on track.

Blessings to you all and Happy Sparking.

Sue, I've had both of my hips replaced. I do have some pain in my lower back, but it is manageable with Tylenol and Ibuprofen. This trial medicine is amazing. I have had no problems at all and I am without any pain what-so-ever while I've been on it. I still can manage without it though and still play golf. Anyway, to answer your question. I feel the research companies are motivated to find these cures and helpful medicine due to our or competitive nature and due to our free market concepts. The developing companies developing these drugs and procedures have to make a profit or else go out of business. They work on several things at the same time usually and hopefully, one or two work out and will become profitable. The costs of research and development are huge and many stock holders are investing on the outcome. They have 7 years of patent law to make their profits and then it goes to other companies who copy what they have done and make it for less and become a free market competitive situation. The price goes down at that time. I guess you can call it 7 years of gouging. If it were not for that incentive, no one would try and no new discoveries. Now if a Government forces one to do that job via other means, I guess you can get those innovation's too. I like our free market better then being forced. That's my take on this. Anyway, it's good to get a Canadian to chime in. I don't know if this is the forum for this conversation but you asked, haha. Happy Spark'n everyone. stevegolfdog. emoticon

Good day to you all,Sparkers!!! Hope you're having a good one....

Hubby and I went out to the gym, today,as it's freezing cold outside....we're having a mixed bag of tricks, weather wise....snow,sleet,rain,,,,just an ugly day,,,and the wind is starting to pick up too!!! Spring will eventually come our way,I guess...
Hope it's soon!!!!!
Anyway,no need to go on about something we can't change,is it? We always seem to make out okay, not matter what the weather is,right?

Had a great workout,at the gym, this a.m. Did the interval training,again...terrific stuff!!! and I enjoy it soooo much...must be something wrong with me, ya think!!! He,He!!!

Welcome to all the newcomers, especially the guy who lives in Florida, besides you RW,who's a retired navy guy..we love to share stuff, about diet, health and even our own personal stuff, every now and then. People here are very friendly, and you'll soon feel comfortable with us,bud!!!!And,everyone talks to everyone,here... that's the fun of it...

SteveGolf- so you have chronic problems with your back? or did you have a hip, or knee replacement? Too bad,bud...but that trial stuff, sounds very promising...and has certainly helped you, alot!!! Why do the pharmacutical companies have to make the drugs sooo expensive for consumers to buy? The govt. should definately put a cap on the prices they're allowed to charge,so everyone can avail of them...do you agree? anyway it's the same here,in Canada.

Enough stuff,got stuff to do,places to see....have a wonderful day,all. talk soon....

Good Morning. Don't think I'll walk outside today. We have a cutting wind chill here in Central Alberta and even a little flurry of snow.
We won our floor curling game last nite so we are in the prizes and play again tonite. Managed to only have one piece of flapper pie. I repeatedly tell my husband that it is better to have a piece when I am out than make a pie at home and eat it all. The two pies I took got eaten so that is good.
I feel good but I really hate getting up in the morning when that alarm goes off. When it warms up I plan to get up and walk before I come to work.

Have a good day all. emoticon

I was able to get out today at lunch time for my normal walk. It is very beautiful outside. I just love the sunshine and the wonderful spring flowers.

BeachBum! Good to read your back on. Yeah, golf can be expensive and all consuming if you don't watch yourself. It get addictive, LOL. I play cheap golf. My motto is that I can have just as much fun on a less expensive golf course. Around here in Lenoir, NC., we have 4 close golf courses and, as a senior, I play for around $20 bucks with cart and with a prize fund added. If you play once a week, that's only $80 per month for all the exercise you'll ever need. Add a little practice on a free chipping, putting area and there you go. Anyway, have fun at the beaches in FL. I love FL too. Golf seems to be a little expensive but I have found great inexpensive courses in FL. Those little Executive courses are way less expensive and doesn't take all day to play a round. They also have 9 holes courses that are a lot cheaper. Well, happy spark'n and y'all have a great day. stevegolfdog emoticon

Hi, thanks for all the encouragement! Joanne, I wasn't sure where a reply to an individual would go. I guess you just reply to whoever has the latest post. RUNNINGWATER, I am in Palm Coast, Florida actually on the coast highway A1A a mile from Marineland (the original!). Marineland still has Dolphins but the facility is downsized a lot from what it was years ago. No other sea-quarium stuff, etc. Steve, I never did start playing golf. I was in the Navy 20 years and at least half the time overseas so I never got started. I even lived on a golf course (in the Memphis area) once but at the time thought it cost too much and never started then either. I figure I would not be on the beach now if I had spent all I would have on golf over the years! LOL Since doing the fitness test yesterday, one of my new goals is to at least be able to do as many pushups and situps as I could when I retired from the Navy in 1987! Thanks again for the welcome!

Good morning everyone! Here, have some fruit for breakfast. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Oh yeah, and a cup of coffee without cream, haha. I get to see my clinical trial doctor today. I've been in this lower back pain clinical trial put on by Phyzer. Man, I got to tell you that this new drug coming out is a miracle drug and it is non narcotic. My lower back pain and over all pain has been gone for almost a year now due to this new drug that will be on the mkt soon. There has been little side affects. I feel like I did 40 years ago, no kid'n. I was taking two tylonol and 2 alive at least twice a day and twice when I played golf a year ago. I have not taken any of that for some time now. The enzyme shot lasts about 2 months. I am just now starting to feel a little stiffer and a little sore. I get the shot today, once again. I think I have 1/2 a year to go but I'm on the extended trial now. I'll probably go back to more pain when I am off the trial but for now, I'm taking total advantage of it. The idea of the drug is help with ones recovery with hip replacement or knee replacement etc. They are working on a pen injection for home use where you take it like insulin. I talked my sister into getting on the trial and she is now playing golf and her pain has mostly gone away. She was in so much pain on a 6 or 7 on a scale to 10 being the most pain. She is at a 1 or 2 now. Anyway, this is way cool. These things are always risky but so far, it's working perfectly. Just wanted to share this tidbit of info. Maybe someone with a lot of pain out there might want to check it out. Happy sparking everyone, stevegolfdog. BTW, I hear this new drug will be very expensive when it comes out, possibly $20K for the treatment. emoticon

It's good to meet new members! Welcome!!

Just adding my two cents about yogurt. I buy the plain and don't add anything to it most of the time. I like to dip veggies in it. It is an acquired taste so to each his/her own.

The sun came out today and it was so nice to feel warmth from the sun instead of a heater. I've been spring cleaning, still finding and sorting things. I bought a size J crochet hook and now I find that I had one all along. I do that often. My afghan is about half done and it is really pretty. Two women want it but no one has money here to buy much of anything. I think it's worth about a $1000 with all the hours it takes to make one. LOL

Hey Beach Bum in Florida! Howdy and welcome. It's nice to have you join in with the healthy and weight loss chat. All I have to say to you is, "Take up Golf" hahahaha. If you get hooked at golf, you just burn off those calories and living in Florida and by the beach, your healthy fitness and weight loss will be made in the shade, (ops, Sun). LOL. Good luck with your success and happy retirement. BTW, did you notice that I'm biased.

Here is some info on Greek yogurt:

"The principle difference in creating Greek yogurt is that after the milk is heated and cultured, it is allowed to sit in muslin or cheesecloth bags, so that the whey filters out of the yogurt. You’ll note that some yogurts have an almost runny texture, or have liquid on the top when you open them. Greek yogurts don’t have this liquid because of the straining process. The results tend to be superior when whole milk, or a combination of whole milk and cream are used to produce Greek yogurt. Companies like Fage®, which produces its yogurt in Greece and exports to the US, use milk and cream. The result is some of the most wonderfully creamy yogurt on the market."

I buy Fage plain nonfat yogurt, add blueberries and a little stevia for sweetness. Yum!

Beach Bum: You replied just fine. We like this chat thread; hope you will too. Your goals are excellent: We're supposed to focus more on health than on weight loss. Welcome to the group!

Margaret: I have been afraid to try Greek yogurt, thinking it would taste sour. Glad to hear it's sweet; I'll try it! Unlike Steve, I usually buy yogurt that is sweet. Yes I know it has more calories, but what can I say!?! It's my downfall!

Hello everyone - I just started last Saturday and this is my first post. I first joined to support my spouse who has been a member for over a week now. I haven't done my fitness tests yet but they are on my list for today. I don't have a lot of weight to lose but my fitness level is pathetic since I retired 4 years ago and have not been active enough! I am enthusiastic and optimistic about both of us getting healthier so we both have many more years together (41 so far)! I am not sure I am posting this right -- it looks like I am replying to a single message but my intention is to post as just another message in the group (like I said I an a newby). Thanks!

Marte- Wow, that's a huge weather fluctuation. No wonder why they changed the chant,"Global warming" to "Global change". Hey, I just got over 1,000 spark points for this month. Hahaha. It's all fun. You must have had lots of good eat'n, so to speak. Now you can reflect on ideas to make a life style change with your choices, ie, how much bread did I eat with butter on it, hahaha. That's one of my pitfall's. Maybe you should of had more water before you ate etc. It's all about choices. I like those poppy seed dough balls at Fatz Restaurants but they are way over 100 calories with the honey butter on it. After thinking about eating those once, I didn't have any the last week when I went, hahah. Spark think'n worked for me. Anyway, good luck and stay on track for your healthy living life style. stevegolfdog. emoticon

6 inches of snow on Sunday and today it's supposed to be 77 degrees! Crazy Texas weather.

Glad to be back Sparkin' because I sure didn't like the number on the scale this morning. Oh well, vacations are all about fun which includes eating and drinking! I'll get the weight off once again and keep working towards my goal. Hope everyone is feeling well this morning and gets to enjoy some sunshine today. Take care!

LUNORZAHRA- I have not but when it comes to yogurt, I look for the one with the least amount of sugar, (My mantra is poison) and the least amount of calories. I love all yogurts that have fruit in them. I used to buy this yogurt that has splenda in it and had very few calories but I can't seem to find it any more. I wonder why. Well, I do live in the South and they love their sugar here. Ya know, the inventors of the hushpuppies and corn pudd'n, LOL. Anyway, what makes it Greek? Does it have olives in in? Maybe fig? I hate the wind too because of my golf. I love indoor golf, hahaha. I'm so glad I moved to Lenoir from the Bay Area of SF. It was a wind tunnel to San Jose. San Jose got the smog, LOL. Morning all, wind stopped here so it's a little warmer but still grey and damp. So not doing much outside today.
Has anyone tried the Dannon Greek yogurt yet. It's kinda sweet for a yogurt so it's more like a pudding treat. Yummy! Had one for breatfast along with an egg burrito with tomato, lettuce and low fat cheese.

Still have to do my workout today. Still dealing with back pain kinda makes you feel sick and old all over. Can't wait 'til my Chiropractor visit. Gotta keep movin'.

Welcome to our new members!!!

Good morning all!
Had a beautiful late night storm. Lightening was great out over the lake. Unfortunately it also struck one of the oldest churches in our downtown next to the Cleveland CLinic and burned it to the ground.

Had a wonderful day with DGD's yesterday and was looking forward to getting some of my chores done today. Already have a change in those plans. Will beon my way to do a bit of gorcery shopping then to get maybe 3 miles in on my walking dvd today. Still cold and rainy for outside walking for me.

Envy Steve for getting his garden ready already. Just enjoying the crocus that have come up and bloomed.

Stuck at 155/153 level and it is driving me crazy. Hate when that happens. Seems like no matter what I try it's not budging. I know, patience. It will move when I least expect. I'll just keep plugging along and see what else I can change. If I am busy enough I won't have the temptation to eat.

Have a great day! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good morning everyone. I was going to golf today but I decided to do yard work. I still need to aerate the lawn and rototill the vegetable garden area. I'll do that instead since it's not raining today and will be nice in the 60's. My wife want to put in a raised garden too. That will be for her to do. I'm golfing at Greensboro National on Friday with my sister and brother in law. I hear it's nice and I always like playing new courses. That will be my first outing then off to DC and Philly with a friend from CA. It will be a nice road trip. I just have to worry about the restaurant food. Ummmm, Philly cheese steaks etc. I'll eat half and save the other for later. Y'all have a happy spark'n day, ya hear. emoticon

Wild Woman, Not sure what to do with a food pusher. Maybe you could have a quiet sit down talk with him so he understands that you are doing this for you, and you would appreciate his help and support and ask him not to sabotage you, even in a loving way.

The loving way is the hardest to resist! Good luck.

Hi All,
We just got back from a long weekend in Death Valley. It was a nice time to be there, only in the 80's! We have been there before, years ago, but it was nice to go back, and so interesting to see all the rock formations, vivid colors, the salt flats at 300 feet below sea level, and the tall snow-covered mountain peaks. What a unique place! Plus I hiked about 20 miles over 3 days!
emoticon
Back to work now, but planning our next get-away.
emoticon

Bonnie - I just now read about your accident. I TOTALLY sympathize! What an ordeal! If you recall it happened to me TWICE last year, while I was innocently sitting at a red light, and in the same area, about 5 months apart! I was SMASHED and ended up going to the ER to be checked out the second time. I know how you feel! You poor thing!

Welcome back, Marte ... your getaway sounds like it was wonderful and warm -- what more can one ask?. Also congratulations for getting right back on SP!

Welcome to Dancingwe - this is indeed a supportive and enthusiatic group - glad you're here :)

I am on the countdown for my Spring break...only 4 days to go, then we get to enjoy some sunshine and warmth, too. It's motivating to be anticipating a getaway.
"Somehow" my calories are on the high end of where I like to be at before suppertime. Now I've got to be super careful in planning and making dinner. DH is late tonight, so that gives me more time to crank up the veggie count for dinner.
Self talk: NO excuses, just do it! Thanks for listening in :)

Hi Everyone,

I'm back from my vacation in Puerto Rico. It was a wonderful week and very relaxing! On Saturday, when we left PR it was 85 degrees and when we landed in Dallas, it was snowing. We woke up to 6 inches of snow on Sunday morning. Crazy weather especially for N. Texas!

I'm still catching up from being gone for the week. I don't have time to read all of the posts that I missed, so I hope y'all are doing well. Bonnie, I did read far enough to see that you were involved in a car accident. I'm so sorry that happened, but thankful that you weren't hurt too badly. Take care of yourself.

Time to get back on the wagon and start Sparkin' again! Here's some sunshine to brighten your day!

Hi again,
Just had to add that I changed all my strength training to upper body and stretches to 'desk bound'.
Worked great didn't need to put any stress on my back at all.

I spent most of last year only doing stretches working up to exercises and I hate to feel I'm going backward. This change has worked well.

Hi all,
Welcome Dancingwe -great bunch here very friendly just jump in.

Kinda grey chilly day here but warmer than yesterday - sure miss that nice warm stuff we had last week.

Had oatmeal for breakfast today - usually don't find it too satisfying and am hungry about an hour later. Well this time I had it with almond milk and wow, was that delicious and here it is almost 11:00 and I'm still not hungry yet.

Did my treadmill time today and that went well, don't know if I can do my strength training. Hurt my back moving bales on Saturday and walking is okay but bending is a nono! Going to my Chiropractor on Wednesday and he'll put me back together. Kinda frustrating - it's been a whole year since I started going to see him and at first couldn't do much work with out pain, pain, pain. A year later and I'm doing all kinds of stuff with no problem until yesterday. Just am glad I know where to get help now instead of living with it for a long time.

Planning a turkey breast with rice dinner cooked in a clay pot. Not sure if we'll have salad or broc/cauliflower mix.

Happy sparking all,
Margaret

Good Monday Morning and welcome Dancingwe. emoticon
Your name reminds me that dancing is a great exercise. Do that often over here with the DGD's.

Have 2 of them most of the day while mom is trying to recoup from pneumonia. Rest is the best medicine.

Woke up to rain this morning. Hate gloomy mornings. Hard to get going.
Talked with SIL last night about who was coming for Easter and the I had started looking for a dress for our DS wedding. She offered to go with me to PA to look as she had found her MIL dresses there for a real good price. Have a couple high end consignment places I want to look into before take the trek. Did find one on-line but $220 is more than I want to spend.

Off to finish a couple errands before I pick up my girls.

Have a great day all, even if it is a rainy one. emoticon emoticon emoticon
