I'm sorry to hear that Sable is still out wandering. You must be just heartsick. Once our cat got outside (he was an indoor cat) unbeknownst to us on New Year's Eve morning. We didn't find him for 2 days and he was one sorry looking cat. I was out calling for both days as I was terrified he would freeze to death, not being used to be out in the cold. (It was -20) Fortunately, I found him but after that scare, I never opened the door to get my morning paper until AFTER I had morning coffee. At least then I would be awake enough to notice a cat trying to escape. Think positive! You will get Sable back. If someone finds him (there are lots of good people out there), surely they will make an attempt to find his owner.

Lolly, it sounds like you are making good progress with your knee. I think sometimes we want instant results but I'm starting to learn that at our age it sometimes takes just a wee bit longer to get from point A to point B. Aging!!! Bah! You will be up and dancing, maybe not as quickly as you would like, but it will happen.

As I sat down here to write I was eating an Ataulfo mango, with a dollop of no-fat cottage cheese. Yummy! I did have to remind myself that I shouldn't try to do 2 things at once. When I eat, I should just eat. When on the computer, just compute. The two things don't go together. Must be related to mindless eating when watching TV.

RW, its sad that we need elder lawyers to handle our parents affairs. Life seems to just more complicated. *sigh* I'm glad that everything is well in hand right now.

I'm off to prowl some SP pages to check out some pics. There has been a lot going on around here that I need to catch up on.

Good morning everyone.

Aunti - I am heartsick over the disappearance of your dear Sable. I certainly hope you can find her soon. And why not put a picture/request up on Facebook!?!?! I will pray your dear pet will come home soon.

Pam's - glad your DH's surgery is over and hopefully this finally fixes his problem. And I am sure that spot is nothing.........but keep us posted!

Kathryn - love your new profile picture and your Ireland pictuers. There are no words to describe them and you were actually there in person. It must have been awe inspiring..........I can only dream!

Bonnie - so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear friend. It must be hard that your away during the service, but they probably all understand and you can visit her grave site when you return. She would want you to keep having fun, so try and let the joy come in. emoticon

Trudy - I am also sorry that your SIL was laid off. This is the way things are these days, but it is so devasting to each individual family. I wish there was some end in sight.

Dianna - I hope the meds help Dodger. Poor dear being sick.

Kris - I used to do exactly what you used to do......handle it all and for me, I would get crabby in the end. This past Friday we had a party and it was low key, and I didn't worry about dogs running in or people breaking crystal or food on the floor or serving people even. It was all so relaxing and I was able to enjoy myself more also. Boy, it has taken 56 years to learn that. Let people help and it has no reflection on you as Super Woman! Ha-ha. Let us know how the BP is doing. We worry.

Well the horses are home and have gone through the grass in the dry lot area already. So off to walk a new pasture tonite to show them the area and hopefully all will be well. We are going to try and not hook up the electric and see how they do.

My big guy is the most anxious and was pacing his stall the first couple of nights when he was put in before his buddy, my DH's horse. Mine is blind in one eye and I really think he relies on my DH's horse to help him get around. And he has decided to chew on that lovely fence I painted and the back of his stall, which I painted as well. So, up goes the wired to cover these spots. Sigh.

But we had a fun BBQ on Friday night to celebrate their arrival. And Saturday night we sat out on the deck on a perfect evening, having a toast to our new life, with the horses in the background.

Now on to manure management.........emoticon

Thanks to all of you who asked about my big boys!

And Lolly......you scare me when you say they will do surgery to bend the knee. I am working mine like crazy........so it worked!

Hugs to you all and I wish you all a peaceful day. And let's say a pray for those we have recently lost and for the safe healing and return of all of our friends.

emoticonemoticonemoticonemoticonemoticon

Namaste,
Mick

Thank you all for your good thoughts and wishes. I know Rosie is better off where she is now, it was just the finality that shook me at first. I knew I would miss the services when I left for vacation, but that is a bit touchy too! I am fine today.

We stayed at a motel in Monument Valley last night, are going to get dressed and check out at noon to go to the park. The topography here is very interested.

Have a great day all, and thanks once again for being here.

No my little dog has not returned home. The dog officer has been great looking for her. I sent a picture to the town tv station they said they would run it and i sent it to the paper, my sister is making me flyers to put up but i can't get them up until tonight. My son is looking for her but he won't go get the flyers and hang them up :(
I didn't sleep well i thought i heard her barking and i kept getting up and calling for her out the window. Boy i wish i could go home and look myself but i can't afford to loose my job. My boss is sympathic but he wants me in the office as he has gone home to put a new litter box together for their cat-go figure. Anyway if he let me leave i wouldn't have a paycheck and then i'd be in financial distress. If i ever needed a drink it now. I even thought to put her picture on facebook hoping that more people will see it. I've asked the angels of dogs to bring her home or lead me to her. I have faith that she will be okay.

catching up

Brenda - my friend goes shop hop all the time she says its fun-you are very kind to help your friend
Bonnie- sounds like a wonderful dinner
Sandysue- car problems are never ending wow 51yrs i hope we make it that long
Pamela- Glad you had a good visit with your friend. I'm glad you dh surgery went well.
Kathty- happy one month. I'd probably go with a new one as it would come with a warentee and one never knows why the used one is for sale to begin with
Kathryn- i don't need to my dh does it. I've tried but i don't mow the right way. To me if the grass is cut it's mowed right oh well i'll just sit back and read my book while he mows.
Robin - I live in MA maybe we could meet up someday.
Mick- congrats on having your big boys home. I'm sure they will thrive better now that you won't have the tension as before and i know the animals feel it.
Sorry about your knee please have it checked even if you think it will be okay. One never knows what lurks behind an injury
Bonnie- your dinner out sounded very nice. I think you have the right to brag even if you've done that thousands of times. It's good to brag about the good things you do and get to do. Sorry to hear the Rosie is now gone. I know she was a dear friend to you. She is now at peace and is watching you enjoy your vacation so have a drink for her.
Kris- i read that if you put paprika on your food daily you blood pressure will return to norma. My bil is doing it and it is helping
Jerie- thanks for sharing about that little girl. you are right she has just taught us all a lesson and one sometimes we have to have right in front of us inorder to learn it. Thank you
Kathryn- i love your knew picture you look relaxed and beautiful.
RW- glad the condo went smooothly or as smooth as possible.

Good morning again. Just took Dodger to the vet. 73 dollars later she had two shots. One antibiotic and one to stop the vomiting. She has a fever and is shaking. I came home with 3 kinds of meds. So hopefully something will help. Vet said she is really bloated and blood in her poop. Hope all this stuff helps quickly. He said the combination of the stress of us being gone this weekend and possibly picking up an infection somewhere caused this.
Kris- glad you took your own advice!! Didn't hurt did it? That is my BP most of the time. They always have a hard time finding it when I go in for checkups.
Auntie- any word on your pup?
take care everyone

Good morning friends!

Auntie I hope you furry friend returns to you soon. I can only imagine what you're going through. *hug*

Mick, I know you're happy to finally have your big buddies home but you need to keep your head out of the clouds and your feet firmly planted on the ground. Take care of that knee or it'll make you take care of it.

Lolly you sound so much relieved today. Having some fun was good medicine.

The party Saturday was a hoot. Everyone had a good time. My fil was up from 1 am to 4:30 am Sat. morning so I was chopping and preparing. He got back up at 8:30 and I got him cleaned up. I actually took my own advice (don't any of you fall over now) and delegated duties as the kids and dh's aunt arrived. Normally I would have busted my arse and done it myself. Just because I could have didn't mean I had to. I enjoyed them being in my kitchen. Giving over control wasn't nearly as hard as it seemed and I still had enough energy to enjoy the day. Sometimes I scare myself. lol

Happy Anniversary to you SandySue!!!!

I put new batteries in the blood pressure cuff. I figured out that when I get so overwhelmingly tired in the middle of the day, my bp is pretty low. Yesterday it went down to 102/52 and was in that area for a few hours. All I could do was doze. I'm pretty sure I'm overmedicated. I didn't take the fluid pill today, just the beta blocker. The beta blocker controls my heartbeat. Maybe it's working well enough now I don't need anything extra. I sure can't function when I fall asleep on my feet. I'll keep me monitored and write down my findings to report to the doctor next month.

My grandson will be here in a couple of days. I'm so excited. It's been 5 years.

Papa's up and chores are waiting. Catch you later!

Love you all to bits!!!

Kris

Auntie- Is your pup home yet? I know you must be so worried.
Bonnie- Sorry to hear about Rosie but it sounds like she was ready.
Kathryn- Beautiful photos of your trip. Thanks for sharing. I can't imagine going to Ireland. Can't wait to hear about your date! Hope all goes well and have fun!! Have you been communicating with him e-mail? Phone?
Trudy- Sorry about your DSIL, tough times right now.
Well Dodger is sick so will be taking her to the vet this morning. Kind of worried about her
Worked out with the trainer this morning and then ran a couple miles with DD and friend. Later DD and I walked too.

Good morning everyone,
Bonnie...so sorry to hear about Rosie passing. Like you said, she is finally at peace. Hugs and prayers going out to you and her family.

Pamela...glad your DH is doing ok from surgery.

Lolly...don't get discouraged. Once you hit that plateau, it'll be easier each day to bend that knee.
SLow and steady wins the race.

Auntie...did your little dog come home yet?

Kathryn...Love your new picture. Can't wait to look at your pictures on your SP. and can't wait to hear about your date this week.

Mick...how's it going with your horses home now?
Are they used to their new home yet?

Brenda...never heard of that breed of dog. I'll have to do a google search to see what they look like. They sound like Aquarius. LOL. (my son was born under than sign).

Just had some bad news last night when I returned home from playing cards. DH told me our SIL was laid off from his job. (Engineering). They have five kids ages 6-18 and all in private schools. And they just got done remodeling their kitchen so they have a large credit card debt now to pay off etc. etc. I don't know what they'll do to manage. I haven't talked to our DD yet because she was going to bed after she talked to DH. It will be hard just to keep food on the table for a while.

I'm heading off to my bike ride now so I'll stop in later this morning to visit.

Kathryn,

I just looked at your pictures--loved the sheep in the road. Are those buildings castles?

Tonight was movie night in the media room. It was Mama Mia. It is a pretty good movie--I like the music more than anything else. Friday I get to see Grease. I loved it when they had the auditions on TV last year (?) for the Broadway play. I didn't miss one program.

Hot weather is coming the next few days-it's even supposed to be hot for the 4th. It usually rains just in time for the fireworks every year. So we shall see............

Lolly, remember, your knee will take time to heal. My foot is just now beginning to get there.

Date isn't until Thursday.

AD, my Irish Setter did the same thing. It's like they gets doggie alzheimers or something at the end and just don't know what to do or where to do. She used to get out all the time and had never done that all her life. I couldn't even figure out how she got out and sometimes I'd find her 3 miles away wondering a field. Praying you find your beloved fluffy friend soon. emoticon

Going to get some pics on my page and take at look at Bonnie's. Oh, and maybe some of Dianna's wedding pictures...

Thank you, dear spark friends, for all the wedding anniversary congratulations. We decided to stay home and save the celebration for when we go to DD's for her wedding. Will be lots of celebrating of events at that time and we'll just throw in our anniversary too. DD's birthday is just over a week after her wedding so lots going on at that time.

Mick - So happy for you to have your guys home with you. I'm sure they will adjust quickly and it will be so much easier for you and dh. Sorry to hear about your fall though. What is it with so many of us? Are we accident prone or just going through phases?

AD - I am so sorry to hear about your Sable. That is so frightening and I pray that by the time you read this she is back home safe and sound.

Pamela - Glad your husband is doing good after his surgery. They say kidney stones are so very painful so I am sure he is glad for the relief.

Take care all and have a wonderful evening.

Good afternoon friends!

Auntie - I do hope you are able to find your dog soon - how frightening for both you and her

DH's surgery went well - he really can't do much for a couple of days because of the meds, but he is fine - the catheter is an annoyance, but that won't last long - they think they got the stones taken care of finally. He goes back in for an ultrasound the middle of the month and we will see what is up. They did find a spot on his kidney, but the doc wasn't too worred, he said it is probably a cyst and it will be fine - I hope so!

AD,

I am praying hard for your beloved Sable to come back home or someone finds her. What kind of dog is she? We had a Schipperkee until I had to return him to the breeder to go to a new home when my husband had his stroke three years ago. Schipperkee's don't have any sense of direction and if they get loose they will just keep going looking at all the beautiful things in the world. He was a wonderful little dog and I was sad to have to give him up. Now all my animals are stuffed.

Good afternoon,

Auntie, Sable is in my prayers.

Mick, Take care of that knee, did you get it x-rayed?

Sandy Sue, Happy Anniversary, time goes by fast, doesn't it?

I have been up and down this past weekend so have not been on the computer at all. Today is the first day I am feeling less anxiety. I think the best medicine was to go to our Luau for our ski group last evening. I debated whether I could make it, but I did and then slept very well. I have another PT session this afternoon. Things are looking better for me I think. There were times if I wondered if I would ever get a bended knee-still working on it.

Have a great day, sorry can't answer to individual posts at the moment.

Auntie, I've just prayed to St. Anthony, the saint for finding lost things (including dogs and people).
I'm hoping and praying you find your beloved doggie.

Dianna...glad the wedding went off well. I'll take a peek at your photos ASA I finish on here.

Maryam...thanks for the tip on how to find the pictures. They really are beautiful gardens!

Bonnie....I'll go back and read your blog here in a minute. Glad you're enjoying your vacation. We'll get together when you get back and rest up some.

Pamela...hope DH's surgery goes well and it clears up his problem. Keep us posted.

Had my 25 min. bike ride this morning, went grocery shopping, ate lunch and now I'm tired. LOL. Think I'll take a little nap because tonight is my long card playing night (4 hours, from 6-10pm).

See you later.

Morning all

I have not read the posts

My dog Sable who is 11yrs old has epsoides where she just walks in circles all over the house for 24-48 hrs straight. She started last night so this morning I let both dogs out. I watched her do her business while i made my coffee i went to let them in and she was gone. She pushed the gate open and was gone. The other dog was sitting there shaking and i let her in. I spent from 6:30am to 7:30 looking for her, my neighbor spent 7:30 to 8:30 with her kids looking and the dog office is looking for her now. I'm afraid she won't find her way home. She has never been out of the yard. She is afraid of people and very skitish and timid. She did this 10 yrs ago and it took us a week to find her as she was at my sisters home in another town. After that she never left our side. But i have a feeling she is not going to find her way home. My sisters dog found her last time as they were pals but this time she's not in a woods area she is on the main roads. I'm a mess and having a hard time working.

I've asked the angel of animals to keep her safe and lead her home. I've also ask St. Francis to help. Now i'm asking you all for your prayers.

Massachusetts If you can't change your circumstances, change the way you look at them.

Good Morning team!

get moving- rise and shine!!

Kathy- we have a lot of grandkids - last count was 8 and one great grandson too. Betty and I have been married for 51 yrs (young love...LOL)

We are finally caught up with all the paperwork and running around dealing with my mother's situation and medicaid. I'm glad that we hired an elder law attorney to handle things. Mom is doing good at the nursing home and we visit her regularly. I'll see her today. We sold her condo since she won't ever need it and that's a load off of my mind.

I went to the YMCA for a good cardio workout on the treadmill this morning, took a hot shower and I'm ready for a great day!!!

good morning all!!! I am home. Had a wonderful time at my sons wedding in Kentucky, well actually Starlight , IN which is just north of Louisville a couple miles. The kids live in Louisville though. I posted some photos on my spark page of the wedding if you want to take a look. I finally got to go running this morning, twice. Went with my friends and then later a little bit with my DD. Now we are going to head to have coffee. THis is her last week before she starts her new job. Her fiance started his job today though.
My DS just called from Atlanta he was in the airport waiting with his bride to board another flight to Jamaica!! They will be gone a week on their honeymoon. He was so excited but sad the wedding was all over. I told them they had a beautiful wedding now they n eeded to have a beautiful marriage too!!!
Kathryn- I'm still waiting to hear how your date went??????
I feel like I"ve missed so much in the last couple days while I've been gone. The weather is SOOOO much nicer in Iowa right now. It was terrible in Louisville, so hot and humid.
SandySue , congrats on your anniversary!!
Pamela- Wishing that things go well with your DH's surgery today.
Take care all, off to have coffee with my beautiful DD.

It's been a beautiful day here today! Going out in a bit to do a little bush trimming. Massacred the front yard yesterday. The woman next door came over to see if I needed any help and we laughed out loud every time we looked at it! LOL Thank goodnesss grass grows fast here. Tractor Supply delivered the mower the same day I bought it...new fangled contraptions! LOL

Pamela, you've got an awfully early day tomorrow. Hope your DH gets through all right.

Jerie, I loved your story about the little girl at the marathon. It really puts life back in perspective, doesn't it?

Bonnie, got to remember to check out your vacation activities!

Mick, I think all of us should buy some stock in ice! Take care of that knee.

Going to do a little trimming before it gets any later.

Have a great week everyone!

Ooohh Trudy - I wish I had a good farmer's market around me to go to - sounds delish

I have thoroughly enjoyed my weekend - time with my girlfriend on Friday and Saturday and then today was spent just reading and listening to music.

Up very early tomorrow (alarm is set for 4:30 am) - DH is having another kidney stone procedure and has to be at the hospital at 6:30 - we will have to leave by 5:45 - and then I get to sit all morning and wait - the procedure isn't until 8:30 - will take my laptop and something to read to occupy myself - hoping they have wi-fi, but if they don't, I will take my air card. I hope they finally get this taken care of - he has been dealing with it for over a year now - but this is a different doctor.

Mick...so glad your horses are home with you now.
What a relief for you. Hope this will be easier for you. Sounds like it will be. Sorry you got hurt and hope you heal quickly.

Pamela...hope you enjoyed your day of leisure.

Lolly....sounds like your knee is coming along as it should. Time will pass quickly and before you know it you'll be back playing tennis.

ZsaZsa....still can't bring up any pictures of your gardens???? what am I doing wrong? I'd love to see them.

Kathryn....did you meet this fellow yet? Please fill us in on the details.

Bonnie...hope your vacation is going good.

We went to a farmer's market after church today. I picked up some organic eggs, mozzarella cheese from grass-fed cows (boy was this wonderful! and a nice yellow color instead of whitish, some new potatoes,
and for my DH a slice of Irish Guinness choc. cake.
Not too many veggies as yet but soon I hope.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

As I have talked about in previous postings I am training for a marathon being run in San Francisco in October. Most of my postings have been...well pretty self orientated. Three weeks ago I had minor surgery on both of my feet and have talked about the problems of coming back after a break in training. Well all of that was put in proper perspective this morning.

This morning, as part of our training for the marathon, we ran a 5 mile race in Central park called "Achilles Hope and Possibility." The race, is part of the New York Road Runners season and raises money for the Achilles Track Club. The Achilles Track Club creates opportunities for people with any type of disability. They create awareness and help people with disabilities participate in mainstream athletic events with everyone else.

When I showed up at the Park this morning I had no idea how important this day and this race was going to be for me and my focus and commitment to train the best I can and do the best I can always.

At the beginning of the race I was way back in the back of the pack which is usually where I start as a run/walker. By the time I crossed the Start Line, five minutes after the official gun went off, things had started to thin out. Just ahead and to my left, close to the curb, I noticed this little girl, no more than 6 or 7 years old. She wore a blue singlet over a white t-shirt and blue shorts. Her blond hair was in French braids that fell blow her shoulders. The little girl was jogging and her mother walked beside her. Just your average first grader. She reminded me of my grand daughter, except her left leg was a carbon fiber racing prosthetic.

Double amputees, blind people, who run by holding a short tether with a sighted person, that's a lesson in trust and determination. Surrounded by all of these athletes who CHOOSE not to give up, give in or give out, while I, on two good feet, complained about the next hill.

A six year old girl chose to run the adult race in stead of the kids race that followed. To her there is no such thing as "Can't." And bless her mother for encouraging her to set a higher standard for herself.

That little, blond haired girl with one leg has taught me more than all of the self-help gurus I have spent hundreds of dollars on. I don't regret spending that money because all of them have helped me. But this little girl is a living example of what all of the motivational experts teach. It is up to me to make my life what I want it to be.

Today, like every day, is a good day.

I hope all of you had a great weekend. Best wishes and congratulations to everyone celebrating anniversaries and the birth of new babies.

Jerie

Good Sunday morning to you all!

It is a lovely day in the country here and I am just enjoying lazing around today!

THE HORSES ARE HOME. When my friend pulled into the driveway on Friday morning hauling the horse trailer, I just had to cry. It is all coming true!

The big boys were a bit anxious and each day is a bit easier, but we know it will take them time to get used to their new surroundings.

Yesterday morning we went back to the boarding place to finish up getting all of our shelving down and packed up the truck never to have to return again. What a blessing!

However, yesterday while carrying a big bucket of things out to the SUV, I tripped and did a number on my ankle and scraped my knee. Well, usually my ankle gets huge when I tear ligaments, so I must be lucky this time and only did a little damage. But I do still have it wrapped. But the bad thing is that little scrape on the other knee has turned into this huge swollen knee that I can barely bend. Sigh. So last night I did a lot of resting and icing it down. I may have to get an x-ray of this. Jan, I think I just joined your club.

SandySue - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! That is amazing. I am thinking of you and that 200% suggested increase in sewer rates and hoping that doesn't pass.

Lolly - sounds like you were your typical busy Lolly while entertaining your G'kids. HOw fun!! Don't panic about the knee. I am sure with exercise you will get the full range of motion back.

Zsazsa - I loved your garden pictures. What a difference the seasons can bring!!! And congratulations to you on fighting the good fight and being here to share all your dreams and feelings with us. You are one strong women, with all you went through last year. I know you didn't make it sound so dire in your posts, and so we didn't have any idea what all you really had to go through. We are so pleased you are here to share with us. emoticon

Bonnie - your dinner and wine pairing sounded lovely. We just love to do things like that. My future SIL recently went to a beer dinner tasting and he brought home the menu and even a non-beer drinker like me would have still enjoyed that food and a taste of the brew! Glad your having fun on your vacation.

Kathryn - how did the date go?

Pamela - enjoy your day reading and relaxing. You deserve it!

RW - I can't believe the delivery of your future grandchild is about 1 month away! So glad your dughter is feeling so good. Enjoy your day on the beach.

Ok, enough of my stalling. Time to go out and help the DH put up some corded fencing to get the pastures ready. Those big boys are enjoying their grass and alfalfa too much and we will need a pasture ready sooner than expected.

You all have a great day today!

Namaste,
Mick

Good morning teamemoticonemoticon another beautiful day here in Florida. The Gulf water temp has gotten up to 89 degrees and that's about like a bathtub - but salty...........LOL

My daughter Heather is due the 29th of July, she lives in Sarasota, not far away and we're excited , this is her first child. She's going to work right up to the day of delivery she says,
now that's not at all like it used to be when we had kids.

Good morning friends! Kathryn - I love my time on the mower - it takes about 4 hours even with our new faster one, but that is time that is just for me-no phones, no email, just "me" time.

I intend to sit on the deck all day long - just reading - will run to the store early so I have the entire day to myself out there - not even taking a phone out with me (that will be really hard though) - will probably take my iPod Touch and will still check in with email and twitter. Can't get too far away you know - lol!

Had a wonderful time at my friend's granddaughter's birthday - my friend's (Sharon)daughter (Jana) was best friends with my daughter when they were in school together. So, this is an easy relationship for me - and I love Maya (the baby) to pieces. She was so cute yesterday at her birthday party. Can't wait until Soren is celebrating his first birthday.

My daughter tells me that Soren has grown 2 inches already - so he is up to 18 inches now! She and I talked yesterday about when I can come back over - looks like it will be the end of July - he will be almost 2 months old then and I probably won't even recognize him - she isn't very good about pictures.

I hope everyone has as relaxing a day today as I intend to have. Enjoy.

Hello sparkfriends! Waiting for the sun to go down a little more to finish the mowing. Got a riding mower today so my life will be longer! LOL And bless their hearts, they delivered it today also! Must have felt sorry for me or something. At least I won't be spending 3, 4 hr. nights a week doing that anymore.

Zsazsa, love your new pics. Your daughter looks so much like you, the brunette.

Sandy, my heartfelt congratulations on your anniversary! Wishing you very special moments! But what is going on with your car??!! Cheers, my friend, no tears.

Bonnie, my mouth is watering! That dinner sounded scrumptious!

Brenda, I admire anyone who has the patience to quilt, even if it takes years to finish.

Ad, you make me smile.

boy, I'll sleep like a baby tonight! I did my run this morning and since then I have been out working in the garden, with the exception of one short trip to the lumber store with DH.

Today I used my fabulous little rubbermaid stool while I worked in the garden so my knees should be fine. The weeds were popping up everywhere and I thought I needed to get them out today as we are supposed to have rain move in for the next few days. We all know what a bit of rain can do to those weeds....
emoticon
I'm headed off to the tub to try and scrub a layer of dirt off along with a sludgy mixture of sunscreen. The sunscreen must have worked as I don't feel any burn anywhere and normally I can do a nasty fry. Any takers on someone coming over to clean out the bathtub 'ring'? I thought not!! LOL I've posted some garden pictures since everything has greened up so nicely. A little sun, a little rain, and it all adds up to a beautiful world!

Happy Anniversay, SandySue!! :-) 51 years is absolutely wonderful! We will have our one month anniversary tomorrow! ;-)

Bonnie, what an amazing dinner you had Thursday night! It sounds like you had a great time. I've never liked lobster or crab, but everything else sounds fabulous.

I read several of the posts. I need to get back on board with keeping up with this thread! Y'all are fun and interesting. :-)

Our AC stopped working while we were at work on Wednesday-sigh. We found a repair company and they came out yesterday afternoon and informed us (as Scott suspected) our compressor needs to be replaced. emoticon We were told we could get a new one, which would be about 800 bucks, or a used one. Scott asked them to find a used one, if it is a "very good" one. The guy was supposed to call us back yesterday to let us know what the status was...we never heard back from him. *SIGH* So, I guess we will be sweltering all weekend...

Good morning friends! All this talk of quilting is giving me the bug again - the problem is that I love picking out the fabrics and the pattern - but I abhor anything to do with sewing so I buy everything and then it sits in a drawer.

Had dinner with my best friend who moved to Florida last night - it was so good to get together - we keep up on the phone 2-3 times a week, but a face-to-face sit down was so much nicer. I got a little sad driving home though because I know she will be going back tomorrow. Her granddaughter's first birthday party is today though so I will be there with the family and that will be fun.

KP,

Do I quilt? Put it this way, I started a Mystery Quilt about five years ago and got as far as getting most of it tied and haven't finished it. Then I made a 'Stack n Whack' top. That was all done in a class where I used to live. Maybe someday I will finish my quilts. I have a lot of friends who do beautiful quilts. Yes, quilting does take up a lot of room and it costs a lot of money to do. I live on Social Security so I can't really afford much. Batting is very expensive for the good stuff. A lot of my friends buy it by the big roll and that's a few hundred dollars!! Quilts used to be made from old clothes and the batting was worn out flannel sheets. Then it was a matter of needing a blanket and now it's who can make the best design. It has come a long way.

Good luck quilting. You will really enjoy it.

Hi Dear Friends,

Just got home from another trip to the Toyota dealership. When I went through the car wash this week a piece of molding from along the roof flew off. That was another one of the things they were supposed to have repaired but failed to do. I wonder how long I will be finding these things. emoticon

Kris - Good luck on your party tomorrow and congratulations to your in-laws. 64 years is quite impressive. 27 June must have been a good date. DH and I celebrate 51 years tomorrow.

Jan - I do believe trouble seems to go out of it's way to find you. I hope you found a handsome cowboy to change it for you, but since you didn't mention one I guess not. Bah!!

Pamela - Glad to hear your ankle is in the road to improvement. Don't push it.

Zsazsa - I think you have been amazingly brave over this past year. Much more so than I think I would have given your circumstances, but then I guess we never really know until we face a major crisis.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Here's a good Texas joke for Jan....
Texas Gun Logic

A woman was called in front of a Texas grand jury for possible
manslaughter charges after she shot a mugger 6 times in
the back as he was running away with her purse. He had grabbed the purse
and ran. She had her hand on her gun in the purse when he grabbed the purse and she was
left with the revolver in her hand.
When asked by the grand jury why she shot the man 6 times in the back as he was running away, she replied under oath:

"Because when I pulled the trigger the 7th time it only went click".

She was acquitted of all charges. That's the way it is in Texas.emoticon

2005 BROSSEAU CHARDONNAY

Wild Mushroom Gnocchi-micro greens salad, fried squash blossom

2006 GRIFFIN'S LAIR PINOT NOIR

Ahi Tuna Wellington-sweet peas, shallots & fresh mint

Good Morning Everyone,

I guess I should clarify what I have been doing at the quilt shop. A 'Shop Hop' is in progress and it's a lot of fun if you are a quilter. They have been going on nation wide for the last ten years and it is still growing. Basically, all the shops in a given area design a quilt square and give away the basic pattern and fabric packet. Then there is another pack they can buy for a dollar or two that finishes the square. Everyone has to have a 'passport' with the list of shops and they 'shop hop', pick up their free square packet, get their passport stamped, do a little shopping and on to the next shop. When they get 16 shops stamped, they turn in their passport for a drawing for a new sewing machine. Hours are 9-7 and I think it runs for a week and it gets pretty wild as people caravan so we get bombarded. Then when people have all the aquare kits and make them, they then put them all together and make a quilt! All this is way over my head. I look at all the fabrics and designs and have no clue what to do with it all. I need to be taken by the hand and let down the garden path and shown exactly what to do.

To make the free packet square I fold the paper pattern in thirds and put the fabric strips in it and bundle them in packs of 25. Thankfully, all the strips are pre-cut or I would never be able to do it.

I'm only doing it to help my friend. She is 81 and can't handle the stamping and assembling the packets by herself. So she does all the talking/stamping/selling and I just sit and assemble. Yesterday the owner came over and touched my shoulder and said "Oh, you are here again" and I said "yes, I'm here to watch Bobbi because she can't do this alone". I'm surprised at the number of men who quilt!

I hope you all can make some sense of my job description. Today is my last day and I'm glad I won't be working the weekend. Sunday is the last day of the 'hop'.

Kris -Here's to us having a nice drink together-this looks like water- but it's the margaritas emoticon

ZSAZSAJANNY Here's my high five to youemoticonemoticonemoticon You deserve to go out and celebrate.

My grandaughter graduation was great. She looked so cute and they did a wonderful job with the celebration at the school. After that we left and went to look/buy tiles for the bathroom floor-it is now going on month 5- yup should be done by 2010. I ended up buying a tile darker than i wanted as the white ones where glossy and we were afraid someone would slip if there were to be water on the floor. And it would probably be me.
Last night i went to do the laundry switch at 11pm(yup should have been in bed) well i walked past a file cabinet and guess i didn't judge the distance and slamed my hand against it. Nothing broken or sprained but it sure throbbed all night.I didn't have a bruise this morning but now it seems to be getting a little darker around the area i hit. I am now amoung the injured( i didn't want to feel left out .emoticon It must have been all the drinking with Kris emoticon Then when i fell asleep we had thunderstorms and lightning all night for about 4hrs straight. The room lite up like it had thousands of 100watt bulbs turned on. It was a very long night.emoticon But we did wake up to sun and that always makes for a better day.

Morning:
emoticon This is new here since we have only had 3 days of it this month i had to post today makes 5.

Brenda- i remember when i worked retail and i was hired to help open the store from scratch, set up all the racks for the clothes to hang on and put all the decorations and items on the wall not to mention unpacking and taking pins out of the clothes then fold and put on shelves. I came home in tears for 4 days. It takes a body a long time to get used to doing things it never did before.

SandySue- i write down the numbers and it doens't look bad. Don't beat yourself up just get back on track- I give wonderful advice- i wish i would just listen to itemoticon

Bonnie- sounds like you are having a wonderful time. With all that wine i'm surprised you could post at all. emoticon

Lolly- I felt bad as i had to work when my DH was home with his knee. His PT came 3 days a week for 1hr for 3 weeks before he went out to PT. THen i was lucky my dad took him for 2 weeks then he started to take himself. I worried all the time and called home alot. He said i was driving him nuts. Then i guess my job was done-right. After 6 weeks he was mowing the grass, fixing things around the house and going nuts as he wasn't given the all clear for work until Oct 1. 10 weeks home.He surprised me and did everything he had to to make his leg work. He worked really hard to prove to me he could do it. But see my dh wouldn't do the PT when he had the scope work done a year before and he didn't do the PT the dr told him to do before the surgery so when he decided to have the surgery i was glad but i was so scared that he wouldn't do as he was told(that i almost didn't want him to do it) and then he wouldn't be able to go back to work and that we would lose the house as my paycheck would never cover the payment. I was a wreck for the 10 weeks. See he is an auto-body technicain and he depends on his legs for strength in pulling the cars apart and putting them back together. He says to everyone it was the best thing he did. When his brother had it done he told him the first 3 weeks were awful but after the 5th week it got easy. And like you when he got super busy he forgot about the leg and did many things without the cane.

Pamela- I'm glad you are going to have a visit with your friend. I love spending time with my girlfriend. I treasure it very much.

TRudy- Tell when with all that hosing down did you win the wet t-shirt contest.emoticon

Jan- sorry about your flat tire. Where you able to get help or being the amazing person you are did you change it yourself. Yes it was sad to here of their deaths. What i want to know is what makes people run to the movie theather the minute they heard about MJ death. How do they know that all the fans would be there. Was their an invite form the theater on the web. It truly amazes me. Why do people want to stand outside his home? I guess i'll never understand those crowds

Kris- I'll join you in that drink

Good morning all from Louisville, KY. We got here last night without any problems except all the road construction. Mom is doing well and said she slept fine last night. Had terrible rainstorm that I slept through last night here though. DS youngests apt flooded again!! MY DD, her fiance and a friend were staying with DS this time though so hopefully they are helping him clean up the mess again. My x is trying to help him get out of the lease so he can move though. Wish him luck
I was shocked to get into the motel last night to find out Michael Jackson had died. We had heard something about him having heart problems yesterday but guess we just didn't have a channel on that said anything else till we got back to the motel. Then poor Farrah Fawcett and Ryan Oneal, so so sad.
Well I think DH is ready and out of the shower so going down to have breakfast.
take care all

Just blowing through. Keep me in your thoughts today. I'm feeling in need of support. I guess coming up on the milestones of my 33rd anniversary and the school year ending for me today is reminding me just how lucky that I am still here to celebrate them. For a while it didn't look like I would be here for either of them last year and these were some of the things I thought about after getting my diagnosis last fall. It is making my heart thump right now and I have to leave for work. The last day. Tonight I will try to celebrate with DH. Right now I am near tears. Oh dear, I will pull myself together.

Good morning my dear Sparklers!

It's always sad when someone passes seemingly before their time.

Joanne that was me with the Home Depot guy. The best thing was that he was working there because he was taking a hiatis from his regular job in aerospace. I worked retail. Normally our social circles would have never crossed. How's that for destiny?

Tomorrow's my inlaw's 64th wedding anniversary. I'm making brunch for the family so I have a ton of stuff to do before 1 tomorrow afternoon. I found some awesome recipes for chicken salad and spinach dip. I can't wait to test them out.

I wish healing for those that are in pain. Comfort for those that are sad and a round of margaritas for anyone that cares to join me.

Love you all to bits!!!

I don't know how you all feel about him, but Michael was an incomparable musical talent. May he rest in peace, and God bless his children who must now go through this media circus and all of the terrible stories that the media will undoubtedly inundate us with.
And poor Ryan o'neal who has lost the love of his life. Farrah seemed like a really NICE person. Her family and friends will be grieving.
It all makes my flat tire (yesterday in the blazing heat) seem quite trivial. Ah, perspective!

Good morning everyone!

Join me in a cup of coffee and some fruit. The emoticons weren't coming up for me so you'll have to use your imagination today.

RW...haven't seen you around lately. Are you staying at the beach to keep cool?

Bonnie....sounds like you had one heck of a meal.
But if they were small portions, that's good. Wish I could drink wine still, but even if I have 2 oz. it speeds my heart up. Old age is for the birds some times.

Yesterday I was helping DH mow the grass at 11 am. (90 degrees) It was hot already so to cool off I turned the hose on myself and got pretty wet and then mowed. We would take turns up and down the lawn. It helped a lot. Then at 3pm I forgot I hadn't blown the grass off the drive and sidewalk so I went out to do it.
Only made it half way (5 min) and I couldn't breathe too well in the high humidity and heat so DH had to finish. I'm afraid to go out too early to mow around here. All these people are over 55 (most in their 70s & 80s around me) and I don't want to disturb them. I never hear any loud noises until 10 or 11am.
In this heat I would love to mow at 7AM. I went for my bike ride this morning at 7 AM and it was so cool and beautiful! Only the birds were out singing.

Going to our DD's to help paint their kitchen once again. I had done it once before but then they decided to do more remodeling and it's back to square one in the paint dept. At least she has air conditioners in some of the rooms.

Pamela...have fun with your friend today. How is your ankle doing?

See you all later tonight.

Good morning friends! So glad today is Friday - and that my best friend is home from Florida for the weekend! Yeah! She is here for her granddaughter's first birthday party - but I get her all to myself tonight - can't wait - haven't seen her since February.

Friends are like balloons; once you let them go, you cant get them back. So Im gonna tie you to my heart so I never lose you.

Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin. ~ Mother Teresa

My friends call me Pamela (not Pam) - I live in northeastern Indiana

Look for me on facebook or chat with me on yahoo!
