Congratulations Mary! My computer failed to tell me you had posted, but I found this today. What excitement to have, all on the same weekend. Hope you're enjoying having your sister there.

This has been a busy week, and today, when I need to be cleaning the house, my body is just not motivated. Maybe after lunch?? We have friends coming in tonight, so I must!!

Hope you all have a great weekend. emoticon emoticon

Hi, friends! I', finally coming up for air! My sister from Illinois is here with me for the week after the wedding and we've been doing a few fun things besides rushing to the hospital to see the babies! They came home yesterday and want today just to themselves so I will go tomorrow and bring dinner, play/hold babies for a while, then let them try to settle into a routine.

My sister and I have taken walks and will go to water aerobics today. I will go back to WW early Saturday morning for my weigh in...just didn't go last week because of the wedding festivities. Boy, has this been a very busy week!

Hope all of you are having a great week. Safe travels and good health to all.

The babies DID wait one more day...sort of! Cherilyn's water broke at the reception! It was a very long night with no sleep but the babies were born this morning at 7:49 and 7:50. Grace Elizabeth was 5.5 and Annalise Mae was 4.9---both are doing fine. Mom is tired but so happy and dad is so excited! I am worn out----no sleep and I'm off to bed. Check you tomorrow!!

Thanks, everyone! I'm on my iPad since my son has my computer for tonight's power point. So many errors, but I'm learning!

The rehearsal dinner was great...Thai food!! Tonight it's Chinese. Lots of salt, and back to WW healthy living on Monday!! Cherilyn got to go last night and will come to the wedding, then back to bed for the duration!

I will try to check in tomorrow night.

Maggie, I love ball room dancing. My husband and I did with a local group for several years until he hurt his hamstring. The dancing is over for us he cannot do any turns. Oh well.

I should probably re-join a gym and make scheduled times to go. But for right now I am going to take a walk while the sun is shining.

Hi, girls! I've been so busy...sorry I disappear now and then! I will take tomorrow off for a spa day with the wedding party. The rehearsal/dinner is at 4:30 and then the wedding is Saturday night. My sweet daughter is now on bed rest. The babies will be 36 weeks on Saturday but her blood pressure went up really high yesterday and her doctor said no more teaching! Spring Break came early for her, thank goodness! I spent the afternoon after school making pretzel pops with the daughter in law to be. She has the wedding stuff really planned out and I hope all will go well.

Congrats on being at a great weight, Doris. Sunny, Margie, and I will follow suit if at all possible, lol. One calorie at a time! I probably ate more tonight at dinner with my son/family than I have in a long time. But it felt good and I am full for a change. Hope it won't mess up my pretty dress!

I will try again to check in on Sunday and let y'all know how the wedding went.

Hi girls....haven't gotten notifications in a couple of days so I decided to check up on you all. Great job Sunny on tracking your food and being consistent even when you are away from home. I know that it can be difficult to do. I'm with Doris, when there's goodies around (even in someone else's house) I have a hard time resisting. I know when there is junk food, especially chocolate, in the house I am a gonner. Can't resist.
Way to go Mary on the weight loss. Makes you feel much better about having pictures taken at the wedding doesn't it.
Well I have been doing really good with cardio. I get too bored with walking on the treadmill and decided to just do some dancing to my favorite CD's. For me it's so much easier to put in one hour doing that but the treadmill makes me ready to get off within 30 minutes, even when watching TV while walking. I have always enjoyed dancing though. When I got divorced 23 years ago I found a female friend who also loved dancing so we actually went 3 nights a week with one of those nights being lessons. Great fun and never was more fit in my life. But then I met my hubby and had to settle down again.......lol.

Well time to relax before getting ready for bed. You all have a great weekend.

Sunny, Good idea. I've set mine at 145 and hope to stay below that. I'm below there now, but can't afford to eat too much salt or I retain fluid.

I use the machines at the fitness center for my strength training. It's easier to get myself going if I'm there and just do them immediately after cardio. At home, I'm always distracted.

I've been in spring house cleaning mode today, cleaning my house more thoroughly than usual--blinds, window sills, and 3 passes over the wood floors to get the winter dirt away. It feels good to know I'm going deep, but it's frustrating that I caan't just get it all done and say I'm through. This is a several days' job!! But I have gotten a good workout!!

Corn muffins!! There are some things that just go together. Corn muffins and soup or chili is definitely not to be missed. I find it is harder in the cold weather to resist the carbs, at least they live in Phoenix which is generally on the warm side. During December and January I did make stew and casseroles when it got cold. Spring is on its way here in Southern Calif so it is getting easier to get out and walk. I wish I could get myself to get out to a gym or fitness class to do more strength exercises. I really don't like getting in to swimming pools very much. There are a lot of yoga classes around, I should probably try one again.

Doris maybe we should set a maximum weight number and work on all of the rest of the healthy numbers.

Have a great day.

emoticon Sunny!
It's so tempting when all the "goodies" are in the house with others eating them. You and Mary inspire me to be better in choosing what I eat. I just happen to have a sweet tooth and a love of high carb food. We had a pot of soup today that was really healthy, but then I made corn bread muffins to go with it. That eats up the calories quickly. I did go to the fitness center when they had the zippy music playing, so I got energized for a good workout. I'm not losing but I've been about this weight for a full year now. It may be my goal weight since I can live with the way I feel when I'm maintaining at this exercise and calorie level.

Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!! emoticon

Mary it is Wednesday how are you doing??

Got back from Phoenix and it is nice to be home. The daughter is finally doing well physically and I am going to cut down the number of trips I take. This will help my life to get back to something resembling normal. I love seeing my grandson but the back and forth is a lot. I finally have the eating down when I am there. I basically go to the grocery store, fill up on my list of required foods and then just eat from those. I do cook some of her favorite stuff but I refrain and it has helped a lot. I do take my iPad and log in each day and try to journal food. Being consistent really helps.

Mary, It's great you've lost that much and will have a guardian of your health for the time you're not at the wedding events!

Is the wedding in the Houston area? It will make it easier to eat better if you're not having to eat out all the time for several days.

I hope you will be able to give us a few pictures from the wedding events.

Have fun!!

Thai and Chinese food are two of my favorites I agree that the salt is a problem and too much rice. Enjoy though this is a time to participate fully and have a great time.

I have just come to the conclusion that if I'm somewhere and I don't have too many right choices of food I do the best I can and either plan ahead that day with a very light breakfast and lunch or make the next day light. That way I'm enjoying something that I don't normally have as well as not making anyone 'aware' of being on a diet! Best of both worlds most of the time! My hard things this week will be the rehearsal dinner at a Thai restaurant and the reception at a well known Chinese restaurant! The bride is Vietnamese and although I could probably eat like that every day because I love the food, I know it's high in salt. I already told my WW leader to not expect a loss for a week or so! But I will try my best to 'be good!'

Sounds productive, Mary! So glad you found time for the water aerobics. I always enjoyed doing that until I became allergic to something in the water. You make me want to try it again to see if I can tolerate the chemical now.

We enjoyed being at our friends' house tonight. The bad thing about these Sunday nights is that usually we have things that are not very healthy--too much salt and sugar. But we enjoy the fellowship with these two couples and I try to prepare for bad foods by doing good foods earlier in the day. Today that didn't happen so I don't want to weigh in the morning!!

Hope you all have a great week! emoticon

It sounds like a lovely time for both of you, Sunny!

I worked on report cards all morning, ran to the grocery store, then went to a 90 minute water aerobics class. Feeling quite virtuous at the moment!!

Have a great week, friends!

Your night out with 42 people sounds like a fun time, Doris! Hope it's a great night for you. Your Hospitality House has opened new doors in many different ways, it seems! My daughter and my niece were born 4 minutes apart...she in Houston and the niece in Virginia! My inlaws traveled quite a bit to visit back and forth. With my parents 20 minutes from the inlaws, it made for a very busy weekend at least once a month!

Way to go, Mary! You've consistently been sliding down the scale with your weight. That dress should look great!! And it sounds exciting about the babies, too. I'm sorry you didn't really get a Sat. you could unwind. I always hated giving up my weekends to work.

My new car is a Jeep grand Cherokee. It's white with gray interior, and so many things to learn about. Basically you have a computer that you're learning!! I need to take the book and sit in the car until I can operate everything. lol Think I will enjoy it. My other was a 2005 and was beginning to need too much repair for what it was worth.

Sunny, you must be enjoying the grand mothering. Ours were born during a period where I was very busy at work, and the first 2 came within 3 days of each other in Austin and Dallas, about 200 miles apart. We kept I-35 hot for a while!!

We're going to a friend's for dinner tonight and some 42 with she and her husband. Should be fun! This is a new friend I've met through our work at Hospitality House.

Sunny, it would be marvelous 'just' to be a grandmother! I know your daughter must appreciate all your help! I talked with my daughter when I got back from the PSIA contest. It was a 50 minute drive, 40 minutes to grade the tests, and over an hour's drive back due to construction! I'm so tired and all I did was drive! My daughter was excited that they had their carpets and furniture cleaned. Now everything is set and ready for the babies. I do hope she can hold out at least until the week of Spring Break, which is the week right after the wedding. The doctor has scheduled her cesarean for March 20th but he doesn't think she'll last that long!

Thanks for all the good wishes. I will certainly keep y'all posted. Now for working on the report cards...it never ends!!

Dinny I agree that you need to look at the calories and amounts. I increased my veggies, added in some fat and carbs while reducing the proteins lost weight and did notice the shift in body fat. Things fit better even if the scale number doesn't!t come down. Patience and Fortitude!!!! Stay with us at least you get a lot of sympathy.

Mary I hear your work load and remember it well. Do enjoy the festivities and I will hope that the babies stay put for a while so it is one momentous event at a time. Sounds like all of you get along?

In Phoenix again! My house is in need of some attention but I won't be back to phoenix until mid April. My daughter is finally back to feeling some energy to do more than just take care of the baby and go to work.. She has always been a sickly person and the recovery from the baby took a really long time. I should be able to see her once a month instead of 2 or 3 trips. If they have another I may have to just move to Phoenix.

Have a great weekend

I just got back from WW...lost .4 of a pound. Better than gaining! I do have a busy weekend and will try to start on my report cards before leaving to judge the school contest. I have over an hour's drive~ probably won't be home in time for water aerobics this afternoon.

What kind of car did you get, Doris? I love my Honda CR-V. Hope you enjoy it a bunch!

Dinny, I agree that you're probably not getting enough calories. You can also see how you're balancing the different types of foods. I have to be above the low end or I wipe out after exercising. You may need more of one particular type.

Mary, I hope you have a chance to rest sometime this weekend. Sounds really busy!!

Big day tomorrow! We bought a new SUV today and pick it up tomorrow!! I hope I enjoy it as much as I think I will.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Welcome, Dinny! Yes, that calorie count is very low. Your body needs a certain amount to work efficiently. Under 1200 is usually too low!

I am so glad it's Friday! The kids were tired after the musical but we had an okay day. Two of my students will compete in an interscholastic league contest tomorrow near Galveston. I have to judge/grade all afternoon. Report cards are due on Monday so that's what I'll be doing all Sunday after church. I need a life! My younger son's wedding is next Saturday and the babies are any time now...so much going on!!

Dinny, it sounds like your calorie intake is too low. Mine is supposed to be 1250 to 1550 so 1000 to 1200 seems very low. Have you done the sparkpeople calculation?
I just recently started my weight loss journey again, but 3 years ago I lost more weight by staying at the high end of my range. Also I have been exercising religiously for the past week and thought that I should have lost something by now but have not lost any weight but my body feels different.....tighter thighs and abs. So I'll take that for the time being.
One other thing...do you use the nutrition tracker so that you know what types of calories, fats and carbs you are taking in. That also does make a difference.
I hope this helps and I'm sure the others will have some good advice for you as well.
Keep up the journey. It will be well worth it down the road.
Have a great day.

Any help would be much appreciated. I have not lost even 1 lb in 7 weeks despite increased exercise (1 hour a day) and watching my calorie intake (1000-1200). Any suggestions.

Oh, grrr...I lost my whole post! Just when I think I know what I'm doing, I mess up! I just got back from our school musical. It was darling---the Little Mermaid! But we teachers are exhausted and so are the kids/parents. I am headed for bed and thought I'd check in but having lost the whole #$^ thing, I'm going upstairs! Love to all...

Mary I guess that I misunderstood you originally...I thought you said that your sister lived in Michigan so I did go back and check your response to me after that and found where you said that she lives in Illinois. It is about 4 hours from me.

Margie, have you tried Mapquest with Grayslake as both one word or as two? Sometimes I have to try alternate spellings before I find what I'm looking for. Hope you locate it!

We've had a busy day. After working out and going to lunch with hubby, I took my SUV for a "doctor's appointment". The bad news was a $1600 repair, so we opted to look at new vehicles rather than having repairs immediately. I was determined to NOT buy today, but I did find one I really liked--another SUV--which is not the best buy, but I really like being up higher and seeing better. Also easier to get into and out of. Tomorrow we will go look some more, and wait for today's salesman to call that he has a better priced white vehicle with the options we want in town. I hope we find a lot better price than today's for the same vehicle!!

And dirt work started today on Hospitality House property!! YEA!! We now have the deed to the land.

Mary I don't know how you do it.....you have so much on your plate (no pun intended) during the school year. I'm with Deb and would like to help you out by taking a nap for you.
Shoveling is sure a work out. I'm lucky that my husband plows and gets it mostly with the quad/plow so all that needs done besides that is the porch and steps. As for when we are elderly (lol) yes you pretty much have to rely on your children, neighbors or pay to have it done. My husband does the big plowing for our neighbor who is 80. He does the small stuff but is sure grateful when my hubby shows up.
I think that I am going to skip the walk tonight as my knees are bothering me. I'm thinking that they may need a rest so I'll do some weight lifting for the upper body instead. I haven't had any weight loss yet but I think that I do feel a difference in my thighs and abdomen, so that gets me a bit more motivated.
Have a good night and a better day tomorrow.

Margie

PS. Mary - I do know where Owosso is but still can't find Grayslake. Owosso isn't too far from me......maybe an hour I think.

Sorry about the fatigue, Mary. Would you like me to take a nap for you? lol! I might be able to do that in the morning after I wake up the first time! Much of this is for the fun stuff in your life, so enjoy even the tiredness as a part of having a loving family. Our prayers are with you.

Sunny, I've no experience with shoveling snow either. If we have any, it's never enough to shovel and is usually gone the next day on its own.

Excitement for us today! They have the dozer on the land where we're putting the new hospitality house to smooth out the surface and take the weeds down so we can get started. YEA!!

There is nothing planned that I'm aware of except the rehearsal dinner, Sunny! The bride was married before and since they bought a house together a few years ago they 'have' all that they need. I've invited all my sisters to get together for brunch next Sunday before they go home. I think Greg and Cari will be joining us. They are going to San ANtonio for a couple of days, but not til later in the week!

I got the place cards for the reception table made last night....along with cricks in my neck and shoulders! I'm so tired but so glad it's done. Today at school we have all morning practice for tonight's musical. I won't be home til late tonight. I'm soooo tired!

Mary those fat cells do not give up easily. I really understand about the munchies after you lose weight. It hits me just before the number on the scale goes down. I have to keep reminding myself not to eat bad things. Getting up each day and really thinking about eating healthy gets really boring. Also I realize that being consistent is important because the pounds come back on so easily. Parties and gatherings are the worst, I just do not have a lot of self control when faced with food I really like. Oh well staying healthy is important.
Are there a lot of gatherings before the wedding? My daughter got married in Maui so it was very small and everyone stayed at the same condo complex. Both families and friends got together each night before the wedding for a barbeque in addition to a lunch for just the parents and grandparents.

I have no experience with living in snow or really cold weather but the pictures are impressive. This seems to be a more snow than usual year for many places. Take care.

Wow...I haven't gotten any message notices until today that anyone had posted! I am so blogged down with school stuff right now and tonight I'm making place cards for the wedding! Sunny, It's March 9th, a week and a half! The babies are tentatively scheduled for a cesarean on March 20th. My daughter's blood pressure was high for her today: 120/80. The doctor said that if it's still that high or higher next Tuesday he may tell her to go on bedrest. She's got all her lesson plans and copies made ahead of time so she's ready!

I actually lost 2 pounds on Saturday so I of course have been eating everything in sight this week! Why do I do that to myself? I want to hit the 20 pound mark for the wedding...a small goal that I really hadn't said much to myself about! I want to get a couple of new outfits during Spring Break to celebrate. So far, I'm 'shopping' in my closet!

Margie, you have been getting so much exercise at home! I've never shoveled snow and have absolutely no idea of how to do it or interest in it! What do elderly people do when they are snowed in---rely on kind neighbors? I have friends who worry about their parents in cold climates. I hope you're warm and cozy now! One of my sister's is in Grayslake, Ill. about 45 minutes outside of Chicago. My Michigan friend is in Owassa, about 45 minutes from Flint.

Doris, I hope you have good weather by now. Or did you get the wind/snows from OK? It was gorgeous today so I actually got my car washed! The weather man said at 6:00 it will be near freezing the next couple of mornings. What's up with that groundhog, anyway??

Got my hour in on the treadmill again tonight. Then went out and helped hubby out by shoveling off the porch and steps. I measured and we got 4 1/2 inches of snow in the last 4 hours. My husband is having a hard time plowing it and he has a big quad because it's the wet, heavy stuff. So anyway that gave me a little more exercise for the day. I am ready for winter to be over with but looking outside it is beautiful because that wet snow is sticking to all of the trees so it looks like the white flocked branches that you see at Christmastime.

We have 2 of the grandchildren (6 month old and 2 year old) tomorrow so that will give me a good bit of weight lifting too.....ha ha.

Then it will be off for shopping to get a care package filled for my son in Afghanistan. It will be a busy day but at least I won't be sitting around being lazy.

Have a great night and keep up the good work.

emoticon Sunny! I'm impressed that you ate great and got some exercise, too. Sorry the teething prevented your grandson from having the best birthday.

My weekend was not so good as far as eating went, but I'm back on track this week with my eating and exercise.
