I too have decided to really get serious. I got some pictures back and boy was that an eye opener! I am only 5 ft and the 10 lbs I need to lose really looks bad! The only good thing is that the fat is filling up my wrinkles emoticon

I'm confused with how to change goals and caloric intake so I just have continued what I have been doing since last fall. I cut out all junk and upped the fruit and veggies and cut back on the carbs some. I make sure I get lots of protein in there, too. I started out at 205 (pre- Sparks) and joined here at 174. This weekend, I hit -ta da!- 160!! I want to get to 150 and SparkPeople is helping me get there. Isn't true that the last pounds are the hardest? Boo!

Anyway, I know if I stay focussed (hard for me!) I could be in the 150's next week. It has been awhile since I was there.

Last night I went and bought some new pants for work (23 more school days) since the rope around the waist just isn't making the dress code any longer. LOL

I wish that the weather was warmer here so I could have bought some shorts instead. However, there is no way I can wear those to school right now with our weather being so unseasonably cold. (I wore my winter jacket in the classroom for warmth this week since the heat had officially been turned off and COULD not be turned back on.) I have to laugh, next week the weather will probably be in the 30's (Celsius) and I will be too hot! I think if these pants get too warm to wear I will have them cut off to turn them into capris. I don't like to offend even my little gr. 1 students with old lady legs. LOL emoticon emoticon

Well, I'm impressed, too! Three pounds in a 1 week changeover is fantastic! Way to go on the gym, too. School's now out for me and I need to recommit to being better myself.

Have a great weekend!

Update time.................
Ok - so I have actually dropped 3 pounds...........
Here's what I did. I changed my diet stage back to stage 2 which is geared to weight loss and not changing life habits............ but I think its helped. I reset my goals and weight loss targets and I think the system is geared to send different emails based on what stage you are in. I have also gotten to the gym 5 days this week........... two of those days I was only there 20 minutes while I did a 15 min strength training workout but I got there.
On my way..................... hows everyone doing?

emoticon I too enjoy walking with the dog. It's not a heavy workout( she stops often to smell the "roses", but its togetherness with a perk!

For those of us with pets - finding the time to commit to exercise 10 minutes everyday can easily be obtained with walking your dog everyday. Challenge yourself by starting out with the 10 minutes and growing the time as you go along. It will benefit not only you but your pet as well............ I walk my dog on average 20 minutes each day ( 2ce per day) -------- and she loves the together time as well as the opportunity to socialize with other pets along the way. This is separate from the time she spends in the yard and is real workout time for both of us.

It sounds like you're really doing a great job--in fact, all of you do! I'm 5'2"--lost an inch in height somewhere in the last 10 years or so! I am working my way back down from 160 and am losing about a pound a week. I'm not "into" cardio but am making myself do it. Slow progress because I dislike sweating, lol.

Good luck with your progress and the journey.

I believe for the lbs to stay off, they come off slowly. I am averaging about 1.2 lbs a week. I am finding it very rewarding to run into the bathroom each Friday and see how much I lose. Silly, huh? I have 30 pounds to lose and in the past month have lost 6 pounds!

This is a totally different lifestyle and I think the "slow" part is us changing on the inside.

Your thoughts?

Happened to see myself in a full length 3 side mirror which really allows you to see your whole self too well.
What an eye opener. I have some real body fat going on here. I have 20 pounds to drop............. I have re-started my fitness program a few times now. This mirror was a real incentive thing. WOW = what that really me?
I need the support of friends............... anyone interested in a real challenge? I want to drop 2 pounds per week........... and finish my 20 pounds in 8-10 weeks.......................... Is that doable?
I am eating 110-1300 cals per day.......... one day per week I do 1500.......... thats usually Sunday. I am staying very close to the % recommendation fo fat, protein and carbs.
I cardio 30 mins 4-5x per week.......... treadmill and cycling.
I am a strength -training newbie -------- but am doing upper body and abs 3x per week with weights.

I weigh 139------------- and want to get to 119. I'm 54 years old............. 5'3".
COmments from everyone appreciated in advance.
