Catnurse.. I can't believe it myself how easily the weight is coming off this time. It's like I finally have the key to my weight problem and I've unlocked the door. I just hope it keeps coming off. I'm not good with brick walls. Of course, if everyone eliminated the foods I'm allergic to, we'd all be a skinny mini world! It's hard, but I know in my heart ignoring my restrictions was killing me slowly one day at a time and I want to be here with my young family as long as I can.

It looks like I'm not alone! I think the planets aligned wrong and made us all eat bread. They better go back the right way so we stop eating. I, too, ate all my healthy stuff, but also ate things I shouldn't -- did you know that there aren't enough marshmallows in Rocky Road ice cream? I put a bowl of mini ones in the freezer and they taste way too good that way. I'm not doing it again. I'm also blaming PMSing for my bad food choices, because I'd never do that on my own (yeah, right).

LACESS24, I have a similar story like you and KATESCAPE. I am 5'2" (and a quarter!) and in my 20's, I'd be lucky if I hit 110 pounds. In high school, I took ballet (since I was four years old) and was 98 pounds soaking wet. I always got commented on being too skinny and needed to fatten up. After three pregnancies and forgetting who I am and giving all I got to others, I'm now twice the weight I once was and still don't truly see how I got here. I'm turning 48 in a few months, mentally feel no different than I did when I was 17, and hope I can get out of this rut and back to where I was. Not back to 98 pounds but back to running up and down the stairs and being able to bend over and tie my shoes without getting winded. It's going to take a long time, and I accept that, though I will be honest and say I wish it could and would happen overnight.

Now tomorrow is trash day, so I must go check the fridge for science experiments. Then I'm going to check on my dogs early and hit the shower and go to bed so I can be happy and jolly for my yearly mammogram tomorrow. Good night!

Never give up, never quit.

I see from the posts that there are several people working through their challenges. In diets past I am very familiar with that feeling of losing and gaining the same 3 pounds over and over again,. SCARLETT. but the difference between me (back then) and you is that I gave up so hang in there --- you will shake those pounds through persistence. TIAONYX, as a white carb junkie I can relate! I ate out last night (going away party for my oldest daughter who is off to University) and of course I overate and ate the wrong things. when I did my final calorie count on the tracker I was shocked. But I am determined this time to not give up. I have high hopes and dreams of losing 50 pounds by June but even if it takes me longer I am still going to keep at it!

Laces: So glad you stopped by my page! I am so impressed with your ability to arrive where you have in a short amount of time. I have had several bumpy months, but you are on cruise control....go you! Yes, how mush easier it was to lose weight in our twenties!!!

MOODY: That is great news about your son and possibly daughter joining you. I know how much it means to you.

HOOSIER: Keep the Faith!!!!

TIA: I indulged in some bread too this weekend...eek! Reset button pushed!

SHERRI: I understand.

SCARLET: Hang in there, this stuff isn't always easy.

I hit my reset button today after a poor display of self control this weekend...I am feeling so much better already, knowing that I will make healthy choices for my mind, body and spirit. I also missed a milestone and blogged about it if you would like to check it out.

I hope everyone has a spark filled day full of choices that move you closer to your goals~

Good morning. I've been MIA here for awhile, so I'm just checking in!

I'm very grumpy today. emoticon I was SO sure I had figured out the reason I wasn't losing. Last week I tweaked my nutrition settings and increased my exercise. I was super careful this weekend and VERY active with all the painting and some other yard maintenance. And what happened? I gained half a pound this week. I'm very frustrated! I've been stuck gaining and losing the same two or three pounds for two months now!

Ugh. Anyway, I'm not giving up, but I wish I could figure this out!

Well, I messed up yesterday. I was doing pretty well until evening. I was away from home, really tired, and messed up royally. At least I learned that I am more likely to mess up when I am tired. Today is a new day. Time to get back on track.

Last minute post. I did it. Managed to sneak in 20 minutes low impact before bed. Had too much bread and white rice this week so it will probably show on my weigh in tomorrow but I'll hope for the best. :) have a good night everyone.

Thanks, AB1GAIL and KATESCAPE. No luck with this job, but the hours would have been difficult to reconcile with my mom's care needs and my daughter's weird school schedule, so I am not heart-broken. I'm keeping the faith that the right opportunity will present itself in due time. It's just that there are days I feel my brain is turning to mush, and I don't want to lose my skills from non-use.

IAMMOODY2--oh, my gosh! I hope you didn't do any real damage to yourself. I am horrible at walking backwards, especially while carrying something, so I can empathize with you. Take care of yourself and don't push too hard tomorrow.

Today was a good day. Made good food choices overall, and spent some "quality time" with my daughter. There is a creek behind our house and we hiked down there this afternoon after church. It is major exercise for me to trudge up and down the very steep hill, so that was my workout for the day.

Congratulations to everyone who stayed on track this past week, and those of us who struggled--hit that mental reset button and start fresh.

Hi! I'm back after 2 days off. I am feeling better emotionally, thanks.

Yesterday I got up, had my shake and said, "to heck with all of you. I will do this with or without you." Then I waited for the rest of the family to eat and clear out of the living room area so I could exercise, but they got busy in that part of the house and I had started cleaning out my closet instead. That took over 4 hours. It had been almost 10 years since I deep cleaned into the far depths of the corners of my closet. And boy, what a task! But I got it done and it looks so nice and organized. Somewhere near the end of reclaiming my closet, my husband needed help carrying out the toilet. He got a new one for the kids' bathroom and needed the old one out. Well, clumsy-butt here, and mind you I am not good at walking backwards on any given day, was carrying one end of the toilet and walking backwards. I stumbled out the front door and porch step. I tried not to drop the toilet or spill tons of the water, so I used my right leg to balance and brace the toilet. In doing such a brave act to preserve the toilet that we were getting rid of, I hurt my right gluteal and hamstring. Now I have tight muscles from the middle of my gluteal all the way down to the back of my inner knee. So needless to say, I did not exercise Sat or Sun. It is feeling better and I hope to be able to walk at least 1 mile tomorrow. I may be slower, but I will give it a try. The good thing is that my son asked at bedtime that night, "Is it too late to start working-out with you?" I was so excited! I said, "Yes....provided I can even walk in the morning." So tomorrow I hope to have a companion or 2 (my daughter too) on my walk in the morning.

I've almost made it through the weekend. The hubs is off backpacking, leaving me out numbered 3:1 with the kids. I've managed to keep it together, but it's about time for them to go to sleep so my mind can decompress.

Couples night went well. It started out rough, getting canceled even, then we switched plans later and went to their house. She hadn't had time to put her treats together that she was bringing so she brought out a couple boxes of crackers and no one even noticed I didn't eat a single crumb.

KATESCAPE: I checked out your page today and realized we had similar start points and well, almost the same weight loss goal. I'm only 5'2" and very short waisted. I'm hoping beyond hope my body will let me get back to 120, but in my mind I'm still that 107 pound twentysomething. It's hard to accept that after 3 kids I won't be there again, but I think 120 will be good and healthy. Oh and I'm only a year older than you. So similar.

Peacelovejoy2: You are back! One of the hardest parts of this SP journey for me is when my SP pals disappear. Glad you are back from your SP break.

The first 20 pounds were easier, and now a pound a week is a challenge. I can't increase my exercise, or decrease my calories because I get hungry if I go to the bottom of my SP range now. I am at 1200-1550 without exercise. I usually get another 250 calories out of my exercise, but I don't always need them.

Be proud of your whole being. What you do for your mom is so important and part of who you are, and your weight does not define you. I was serving my family, which is why I weighed 225 for so long (because I love food for pleasure), and I had no time for exercise if I was using it to serve my family.

I am empty nesting, so it is time to do this right now before I get grandchildren and menopause.

I am so glad you are back. emoticon

Thank you AB1GAIL and KATESCAPE! That welcome was appreciated as I am feeling a bit on the loser side. Hey, did anyone ever make the connection that in the word, "healthy", is the word, "heal." I found that interesting this morning. Welp, I have decided that the house is clean and I am going fishing. Make it a great day!

Oh dear..I have missed you all. my time the last 3 days has been consume by an adorable little 3 1/2 yr old...who as much as I adore she also brings some stress. So with that I had a slide Friday evening after she went to bed...my go to decompress...food numbing. It continued yesterday, as I was prepping for a big cookout So my food choices were off, but I still refrained from meat at the cookout (small victory). I am up and feeling the of my poor consequences intake choices and am ready to hit the reset button, I am not stressing it, but making the effort to have my nutrition and fitness get back on track. emoticon

HOOSIER: Hang in there. As noted above, I suffer from stress eating too. Glad the interview went well.

TIA: Way to turn your anger into a great workout! My beach time was wonderful!

MOODY: {Hugs} I am so sorry to hear you are struggling. It is great that you are working hard to make positive lifestyle changes and are including your family...sometimes people are just not in a place to hear the message.

SANDY: keep up the great work quitting smoking!!!

ARKAIOS: emoticon

PEACE: So nic to see you back. Sounds like a great plan moving forward...good luck.

Despite my successful weigh-in (or maybe because of it, I had a very high calorie day that started with a breakfast buffet and ended with Gorgonzola gnocchi and red wine. But I am trying to remind myself that it was one bad day and today is a new one. So far so good with today though.

ARKAIOS - Much like Red Wine, I think I am going to have to keep the peanut butter off my kitchen shelf for now. I just can't seem to stop at a reasonable amount!. But I think getting natural peanut butter might help me a big because I am far less likely to eat spoonfuls out if the jar if it's not sweet.

SANDY- I agree with ARKAIOS -- feel free to reach out and see if anyone is available to communicate with you privately. This big world can feel so lonely sometimes so you shouldn't be afraid to ask for help while still protecting your privacy.

PEACELOVEJOY - welcome back. I am new and happy to meet you. I am sorry to hear you have lost your job and I wish you well.

IAMMOODY- I am sorry to hear of your frustrations at home. As a mom to 5 I do understand how hard it can be. Hang in there!

HOOSIERDODDS - I wish you well on your job search and I hope the interview went well.

LACES24- I hope couples night went well. I have a social event tonight too and am a bit worried about my self control in the face of cocktails and appetizers!

I am no longer the Queen of Onderland :( I haven't given up the fight entirely. I just lost the time when my Mom became sick and moved in with us. She is doing better and got a place of her own close to me. So, I am anticipating having more time on my hands. I also lost my job due to all of the things that needed tending to for her care. My goal is to get back on track starting on Monday. Just going to try and go slow this time and see what happens instead of going full speed. Hope all is well in your worlds.

Sandy,

I believe it was less offensive and more that we are concerned that these boards aren't really private, and that it was a little off track to what we are trying to accomplish here. We ALL have personal stuff and we ALL need people to help us through! ALL of us! I would suggest that you just post it out there that you're in need of someone to talk to because of really hard, personal issues and ask our teammates to message you privately. It's OK to give a general overview...like, "I'm having some real family/marital issues and need someone to talk with, any takers?" Then, you're not putting your information out there for everyone to see and those that do truly care, will message you...I PROMISE they will! We have a great support team here and we WILL (or I will) help as much as we can. I believe in team, and I believe in YOU. If you do need to vent--I am ALWAYS willing to listen...send me a message and I'll respond.

Please DON'T think we're upset with you, and really, I don't think you've offended too many, we are really just more CONCERNED about you and are worried about such personal "stuff" being out there for all to see. ((HUGS)).

Did my walking this morning and 10 min Total Body with Tony. Then it all went down the toilet. I am having a hard time with the plateau and am very fragile emotionally. My husband has had to work late everyday this week and then drive 1-2 hours home. The kids are getting on my nerves and when I try to motivate them, they end up bringing me down. They never want to do anything! And I am tired of staying home everyday! So I went to my room and cried myself to sleep and slept for over 2 hours. My whole attitude stinks now and all I want to do is eat or go back to bed. I guess when I started all of this with SP, I was hoping they would be more willing to exercise with me-walking or biking. But NO! And my 12 yr old son causes the biggest issues for me. I won't even go there because that is an all day session.

It is suppose to rain all weekend too. So all my exercising this weekend will be in the living room with the dvd player.

I hope everyone else's day was better than mine.

TIAONYX1--thanks. I believe the interview went well. Not really expecting an offer, but this was a good contact to make, regardless, and let me test my rusty interview skills.

Managed to walk this morning while it was nice and cool. As usual, saw several bunnies during the walk. They probably wish I would go back to being a couch potato. :)

Hope everyone did well today and has a wonderful weekend.

Having some friends over tonight for a game of cards and drinking. Food will be brought. I just hope I don't gobble up too many treats. But I know I need a down day from time to time. It's just hard to think of a splurge when I'm doing so well with my restrictions. But my husband really needs this couples night and well, I know I'll enjoy it too.

Happy weekend to all. I hope your are all filled with healthy choices!

At exactly 5:20am, I got woken up by a train blast. The loudest, most offensive train blast ever. I've lived in my area for 5 years and I've never been woken up by the horns but this offensive blast not only woke me up but went on and off continuously with about 2 seconds between blasts until 5:36am. Yes, I kept track of the time. It is the first time ever I have filed a complaint with the City regarding a train.

Even the crows complained. They were all up and squawking loudly as if to tell me "Did you hear that. How rude. They woke me up. Stupid humans with their stupid giant hard worms. Honestly. How can a bird get any sleep around here."

I was up, I was pissed, it was an amazing workout. I punched the air really really really hard! Back to bed for me. lol

LACESS24 - You are losing great!! Keep at it, it will come off. Slow and steady and it won't return.

HOOSIER_DODDS - Good luck on your interview

KATESCAPE - How was the beach?

COPOOLGIRL - Have fun in Vegas!

FVUSCMOM I can't wait until I'm down 45 pounds. Feels like it's almost unobtainable at this point, but I know, one small step at a time and I'll be there before I know it! Love your attitude. I don't think I could be so bold, but I may try it sometime!

Everyone seems to be staying positive and doing well.

I've not been doing too well at staying on track this month. Between the Independence Day celebration, my mother's 81st birthday celebration, and then my mother becoming quite ill (she is a stroke survivor with right-side paralysis, so any illness is a big deal), I've just not done well. I'm a stress eater, and my mom's main caregiver at this point, so when she's ill my stress goes up and my good intentions fizzle. Leaning on my mental "reset" button tonight. I did eat an apple for dessert instead of ice cream (at least it is no-sugar added). So, a small victory for the day.

I'm going on a job interview tomorrow, so that makes me a bit anxious. I've not been working for the last year and a half due to taking care of my mother. However, this part-time opening in our area came up, and I want to at least check into it. I'm concerned that I will lose my skills if I don't start working again soon. Not sure how my dad and I will handle my mother's care if I start working, but we'll figure something out.

Anyway, to those of you who are staying on track-- emoticon

Hi everyone! I am having a busy Thursday. Went and picked up my DGD for a few days and she has already awoken from her nap. So off to the beach for a couple hours...dinner is leftover Vegetable lentil loaf and i will make a fresh salad. woohoo!

LACES: Ask and you shall receive~ emoticon

FVUSCMOM: Love your response to, How are you?", so stealing it!!!! emoticon

AB1GAIL: Nice job yesterday, finding your balance. emoticon

TIAONXY1: emoticon Mantra. emoticon

COPOOL: I bet even w/o Benny you will still get lots of walking in...those hotels are mini complexes. Again good luck. My journey to veganism is quite successful. My husband & I are 100% vegetarian and 90% vegan (the occasional call for cheese in some recipes knocks us to vegetarian) 3 weeks and 3 days strong. We both feel amazing and have been consistently dropping weight. Don't get me wrong he complains here and there about wanting meat and I tell him, go get something if you want, but he never does. emoticon

Wishing all of you a successful day!!! emoticon

Happy Thursday 40 somethings!!

Hope everyone is having a great week! I am off to Vegas this afternoon with the family for the BCA national tournament...excited to say the least emoticon

Thanks for all the great suggestions for staying on track...they will really help. Meant to post a pic of my snacks that are going along for the ride. I know both food and exercise will be tough but I am committed to try my best to stay on track since I have been doing really well the last couple of weeks. I'm worried that without my dog, Benny, whining for his walk I might skip it. Cross your fingers for me.

Congrats to all that have lost FVUSCMOM, LACESS24, KATESCAPE and APRIL_V...you rock!!

Hang in there TIAONYX1, ULINDAWILLIAMS, AB1GAIL...it's a long road but we are on it together!

KATESCAPE -- how is your vegan diet going? my trainer thought I should try gluten free but everything I tried made me crave it more so it was defeating the purpose for me

NESSAGIRL -- Congrats!!

IAMMOODY2 -- I have the spark activity tracker too...really liked it but have had issues over the last couple of weeks....before that never a problem...always synced and transferred with no problem. Hoping that they figure out all the bugs soon too.

Have a wonderful weekend...keep sparking!!

The last 3 days have been very hard for me. We are experiencing a heat wave and working out feels like such a chore. The heat is making me feel exhausted and Im finding it really hard to get up and move let alone, get up and workout.

My workout today was half-ass to say. I didn't use my arms, I kiked half as high, I shuffled half as far, I just felt like a slug. I still sweated but I wasn't beading like I usually am. The weather is just taking a toll on me.

I am trying to remember what someone told me on here when I first started - 80% effort will still move you down.

Im more like 60% effort today but made it I did. My new mantra in this weather -

GET UP AND MOVE; GET UP AND MOVE; GET UP AND MOVE

I apologize for not acknowledging anyone's posst but I need to catch up on 3 days. Congratulations to all those who have lost. emoticon emoticon emoticon

AB1GAIL, someone else mentioned this somewhere on SparkPeople (aren't I helpful), but I can't remember where or who. There is a powdered peanut butter (PB2) that is supposed to be very low in calories. I just bought some Tuesday and will be using it today. I got mine at the base commissary, but I've also seen it at Walmart and Target and on line.

Off to check my dogs and go to bed. Here's hoping there's no cat fight tonight.....

Never give up, never quit.

I hope that everyone is having a joyful day! I am very proud of myself--- last night a walked 3 miles, stayed within my calorie range and even treated myself to one (only one!) small eclair for dessert. It was nice to finish the day knowing I met my goals and it was nice to be able to treat myself. A friend of mine told me about the T25 alpha and beta workout programs so I have added those to my exercise goals for September onwards. I want to continue my walking regime a bit more before I try anything else. If anyone has experience with T25 can you please let me know how it was? Did you buy the DVD or is it available online? Is it worth it?

ARKAIOS - I hope I can continue to eat peanut butter (but in smaller doses!)

KATESCAPE- I am impressed with all that you have been cooking! I have always wanted to try quinoa.

LACES24- I am glad someone finally commented on your weight loss! That must feel great. I am sure others have noticed but just weren't sure what to say.

ULINDAWILLIAMS- keep at it! It's a tough journey. It's easy to start but even easier to stop the weight loss journey.

FVUSCMOM- 45 pounds! Wow-- that is great! You are an inspiration. I agree with you that men are walking on eggshells when it comes to any discussions about weight (or appearance at all). But I also think that men often (but not always) are not as observant about physical details. My male partners at the firm never notice if I have a new hairstyle or hair color but my female partner notices right away!

Lacess24--Whenever someone asks me, "How are you?" Instead of well or fine, I answer, "45 pounds LESS today."

That usually breaks the ice enough for people who want to say something...especially the male coworkers. They won't touch weight loss with women unless we bring it up, and even then, they are walking on egg shells.

Don't be afraid to celebrate you! Once people know that they have permission, they will celebrate with you.

Thank you all for the kind words. I am happy to report someone actually asked me today if I've been losing weight. How funny just as I start to complain about no one noticing. It felt amazing.

Now to get the rest of this weight off and feel even better inside and out!

Happy Wednesday~

I came by last night and read all the awesome posts, but was too beat to respond. I have a bit more time today, so here goes. I am still doing well with fitness, nutrition and feeling stronger each day. I have made several new dishes this week ( quinoa black bean burgers, vegan sweet potato tostada and tonight I am tackling a vegetable lentil loaf). I do not enjoy cooking as much as baking, although, that is changing. Doing my best to stay away from baking...such a weak spot. That said, we have an upcoming engagement on Saturday which will require I bring some of my best treats...but that is so far away.

TIAONXY1: So close to your 1st goal! emoticon

AB1GAIL: Good job on passing up on the daiquiris...that would be a tough one for me. emoticon

APRIL: I am a huge fan of Denise Austin and the song Wide Awake! emoticon

SALAM: Yoga is low impact and get great results! emoticon

IAMMOODY: Your bath sounds so inviting. I too love supporting organizations that give back!! emoticon

LACES: emoticon emoticon emoticon I am thrilled for you too!!!

CAT: I have gotten the whole, "when are you due thing". Awkward...last summer my DH who is very shy, spoke up and said to a young girl, "You must be excited", once she knew what he was talking about, up and smacked him across the face....a total stranger. Can you imagine. She was even on the job...you can get fired for that. We laugh hysterically about that incident to this day. emoticon

NESSA: Nice to see you again and congrats on the upcoming nuptials, how exciting. emoticon

ARKAIOS: Happy hump day to you do! emoticon

Happy HUMP day, everyone! :-)

SALAM4545- I use a lot of Leslie Sansone, Walk Away the Pounds videos as they are low impact and just a modified walking option. There are several available on YouTube if you'd like to see them before you purchase them. :)

IAMMOODY2- Awesome job on your workouts! :-) WOO HOO!

LACESS24- I understand your frustration on people not mentioning your weight loss. I had hit about 33 pounds lost before ANYONE (other than my hubby) said anything. I get that I had 75-90 to lose, but GEEZ! :-) Anyway, DON'T get discouraged. Pretty soon you'll have EVERYONE commenting--I PROMISE! :-)

CATNURSE1- I always appreciate your positive spirit! You always put a smile on my face!

NESSAGIRL67- I was wondering where you might be! :-) I understand, as my daughter just got married 2 1/2 weeks ago...CONGRATULATIONS to you and her! Great job on staying on course! YOU ROCK!

AB1GAIL- We've ALL been there! Tracking IS the big eye opener. I would say that if you LOVE peanut butter, KEEP it in your diet! It's relatively good for you (if you can switch to a natural PB, that's even better) and it keeps you fuller longer and I find that it helps with cravings for some reason! :-) I have a serving several times a week because I love it myself! I am proud of you for staying on track for a week! That IS how you make this journey successful...ONE DAY AT A TIME! Good for YOU!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Karen

Good morning and happy day to everyone! Well I am almost finished with my first week on this journey and I am definitely feeling good. More in control at least. Tracking has been a huge eye opener for me. I really never ever realized how much I was eating! I have eaten half of (a small) jar if peanut butter in days past very easily and never knew it contained so many calories.

NESSAGIRL67- Congratulations on your daughter's upcoming wedding! What a joyous occasion!

CATNURSE1- It's funny that you mentioned the whole "when are you due?" --- I just got that this morning from someone I had only just met. It's strange because I really don't think I look pregnant. I just think I look fat! :-)

LACESS24 - I think a 26 weight loss is SO impressive! You deserve plenty of pats on the back and then some. I have lost weight on the past and even the people closest to me didn't seem to notice which I found disappointing. When I lose this weight and if no one notices I am going to try to remember that I am the person that counts when it comes to noticing my own weight loss. This time around I have lost about 8 pounds but not only does no one notice --- even I haven't noticed the change in anything except the number on the scales.

IAMMOODY2 - I am impressed with your workout! So far I have only managed a few not-so-vigorous walks so I really need to increase that soon.

SALAM4545- I wish I knew of some good low impact workouts for you! Have you tried any of the videos on Spark People. I have had a look at a few but haven't tried any yet. I would also be interested to know what video workouts people found most helpful.

APRIL-V-2- I will look into Denis Austen-- I have heard of Jillian Michaels but I don't know much about exercise videos at all so it's great to hear other people's experiences.

Hello everyone! I'm sorry I've been missing lately! My daughter is getting married in 4 weeks so we have been getting things all set. She is having a destination wedding on the beach. I'm so happy for them.

I've been making sure that I get in my workouts and stay within my calories.

Have a great day everyone!

LACESS24, despite the fact that no one commented, I hope you are proud of your efforts. I know a lot of people don't know how to approach someone when they look different. After the birth of my first daughter, I didn't lose weight for a long time. But when her father and I separated, it was a very stressful time, and I did lose some weight. I carry mine mainly around the middle and thighs, and one coworker tentatively asked me if I was losing weight, because she had thought I was pregnant and just not saying anything. I also got the "When are you due?" when I was strolling with my newborn child. I finally decided that hey, I feel good, I am getting healthier, and that's a bonus for me. Now I'm at my highest weight ever, and I'm starting this "trip" all over again. We can do it! Never give up, never quit.

Never give up, never quit.

Of course it is AWESOME about your weight loss. Just goes to show how much we all have been putting all that processed food in and damaging in so many ways. I am in week 5 and nowhere close to 26 pounds. So whatever you are doing, keep doing it! It is certainly working!!

SALAM4545 - My husband and I really really love DDP Yoga. Look into it. It is awesome for every single person on the planet. I swear.

Yesterday was day 49 of clean eating. I challenged myself to eat clean the entire summer, 97 day between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The first week was a bit rough, headache and all, but now I don't even think twice about my food choices. I am happy to report that my 7 week weigh in (had to correct my last post because I thought I was only 6 weeks in, it's been that simple) I am officially down 26 pounds. I couldn't be more thrilled with myself.

I'm still waiting for someone to make a comment about my loss, but I know most people are afraid to offend someone and mention their weight in anyway, so hopefully the closer I get to my goal someone will say something.

Have a great week everyone!

Well the weather today in Florida STINKS! It has rained mostly all day! So there goes the walking. Nope, don't have a treadmill either. I rely on the roads and sidewalks where I live.
So, instead, I fulfilled my morning date with Tony Horton 10 minute Trainer (total body) and then did the beginner workout on the Total Gym. I did increase the incline bench (to a 4) for the lower body exercises and back down to a 2 for the upper body. Then ate leftover chicken parmesan (half a breast) and very small amount of pasta. Rested and then took a nice hot bath with Epsom Salt and ban=king soda with a few drops of Eucalyptus oil. It is suppose to help with sore muscles. We'll see.

Now I will probably watch a Harry Potter movie with my daughter. She read all the books and likes to narrate for me and how parts were left out. What can I say? I'm glad she loves to read!

On another note, I am really upset over the Activity Tracker not working. I had it for a partial day before the whole thing died. I have had a green light at times but it still will not upload my data. Therefore I have been entering it manually. Yep it is a PIA but I do it anyway. I do have another pedometer that works great. I think I am going to return my tracker and just use my Striiv. Also for ever 18,000 steps the company will donate to one of 3 causes. I chose to donate clean water for 1 person in a 3rd world country.

Hi everyone! Just checking in to try to motivate myself to exercise more. I've been really struggling with it for a few months now, after a very successful month. I'm also looking for some alternative exercises, since it's too hot and humid to walk after 6 a.m., and I refuse to get up that early on summer vacation! emoticon

Anyone have any favorite low impact workouts that can be done inside that they can suggest?

Happy Tuesday 40 Somethings! emoticon

How is everyone's week going? I am shaking things up a bit this week to try and see if I can shake some more of this weight off. I'm going to increase the intensity of my workouts and change up my meals.

Today I'm going to take a power walk, do a Shred video, and also a yoga video. I discovered a new yoga video I really like, Denise Austin's hot body yoga. It's less intense than Jillian Michaels but still a good workout. I didn't think I would like Denise Austin but her positive attitude and perkiness is infectious. She makes me smile! emoticon emoticon

What are your goals and strategies this week?

AB1GAIL - Way to go staying on track while eating out with your friend. That is tough!

Iammoody - great job on the work out!

Lace - good luck with your weigh in today!

Tiaonyx - congratulations on losing 8 lbs! Woohoo! emoticon

Kate - emoticon Way to go on making it to the 150s! That is awesome! And shaving 2 minutes off your walk/jog time! Woohoo! I am a big Katy Perry fan too. I have a playlist that has both those songs you mentioned plus her song Wide Awake. I also love Pink! Those ladies are very helpful in getting me through my treadmill workouts! emoticon emoticon

Karen - Welcome back! emoticon

Catnurse - congratulations on breaking 200! Woohoo! You go girl! emoticon

I hope everyone has a great on track week!

Whew... I finally managed a day that was almost within calorie range (only 45 calories over). I had sushi for dinner which was tasty, satisfying and not too laden with calories. I had dinner with a friend who had several daiquiris and I was proud of myself for sticking to iced green tea and not indulging in anything stronger. I always feel so awful if I drink. 2 glasses of red wine is ok but anything with hard liquor in it tends to keep me up at night and make me feel horrible in the morning. Dowry I will be preparing broccoli and chicken for lunch again and I am thinking about how I really need to out more thought into my packed lunches (and more fruits!)

IAM MOODY- I have always wanted to attend one of those BYOW art classes! Great job on the exercise. I need to take a page from your book. Exercise is the component that I haven't been able to get to much since starting this journey.

LACES24- best if luck at your weigh in!

SANDY1380- congratulations on re-setting your goals.

TIAONYX1- Congrats on reaching your mini goals. I think I spend too much time on imagining what I would look like/feel like 50 or 60 pounds less when I really should be focusing on the shorter term goals.

KATESCAPE - congrats for getting into your 150s! I haven't been there in 15 years! I hope to be there one day soon... Thank you for the inspiration.

ARKAIOS - welcome back!

Yep, that's me! Artsy-fartsy as my mom would say. Made signs for around the pool. The pool is guarded by "The Tiki Boys" and they are doing the See No, Hear No, Speak No Evil poses. So the signs are to go with them. I have yet to unpack The Big Kahuna that I bought early in the spring. It is funny because their eyes and teeth glow in the dark. So now the pool is referred to as The Tiki Tub. Then I touched up a painting I did in one of those art classes where you pay for the class and BYOW (bring your own wine). I didn't drink since I was the driver, but we did an angel standing with her wings open and arms around a small child. I will admit that it is my best one yet. I will put pictures on my sparkpage for everyone to see. The tie dye I am not so happy with, so not sure about putting those pictures up.
emoticon

I walked 1 mile this morning and then did the 10 min trainer with Tony Horton. Can't calculate the calories burned, but that's ok. I know I was burning it hard for 10 min straight.

Have a wonderful evening everyone!

emoticon

Now I have uploaded the paintings.
Angel with child - (for me)
Falling Leaves - (for my mom. She and dad always went to the Smokey Mt. almost every year to see the leaves change color. She hasn't been back since he passed away over 3 years ago. So I painted it for her.)
Survivor - (also for Mom. She is a cancer survivor. PreCancer cells of the breast and Lymphoma.)

Yea MOM!!

Happy Monday.

Things are going well here. Tomorrow is my big 7 week weigh in. Looking for some extra calories to burn in the "last chance work-out" tonight.

Morning Ladies,

Weigh-in day for me. I am very happy to report that even with my sushi rice (3 cups) and popcicle (4) binge, I am down 0.8 lbs this week. Total lost since I started June 15 is 8 LBS!!

I am super exited as I was lucky if I lost 1.5 lbs in 4 months!!!

I'm only 3 lbs until my first mini-goal on August 4. Motivated!

I can't thank you all enough for posting your stories and your weight loss. It is really motivating to me.

I didn't workout Sunday. It was 30 degrees C in my next of the woods. Way to HOT to do anything except knit in my bathing suit with a fan blowing on me watching Stargate Atlantis reruns. lol

20 minutes time saver workout finished. Hoping to get in some bowling with my son this weekend.

Personal note:
My son and I went grocery shopping. We shop for sale items only as I'm on a super tight budget as a solo parent. We hit the till and my son says "Mommy, KitKat's are on sale for $0.99. It's on sale. That means I can have one right?" My little chocolate bargain hunter. Yes, he got it. I don't want to discourage smart shopping in my 5 year old. lol

Staring off the week, hope everyone had a beautiful weekend to enjoy with your loved ones, or simply enjoyed a few moments of peace & quiet to yourself. I am pleased to say, I got both. I also enjoyed yesterday improving my 3 mile walk/jog time. I shaved 2 minutes off my time due to increasing my jog intervals. I am not a great runner, never was, even as a child. I become easily short of breath, but each day I take to the course, I try a little more jog time. I love listening to Katy Perry on iheart radio...I find her songs so encouraging. My favorite is Fireworks and Roar. emoticon

In other Katescape news, I have finally made it into the 150's club. My goodness have I been working hard for it. I have not been in the 150's since 2007 and it feels fabulous!!!
emoticon

And today while reading one of the Spark article, I learned a new word, ikigai, pronounced (ee-ki-guy) it is Japanese. The basic meaning: a reason for being- discovering ones ikigai will bring satisfaction and meaning to life. I truly feel SP is helping me to do that. I am blessed to have a profession (nursing) that brings me a lot of ikigai, but now I am also finding it in me. So cool! emoticon

SHADOW: I am so sorry to hear you have a major injury. I wish you a strong & speedy recovery and wish you increased diligence with your nutrition, since exercise has been taken off the table. emoticon

IAMOODY: Glad you were able to turn your Sunday around and get outside into the garden, very cathartic and making signs for your patio- so creative you must be! emoticon

AB1GAIL: emoticon It is so great that you are here. SP encourages small steps to success so don't always worry about perfectionism, but progress. I would say passing on candy bars and soda is major progress!!!! I have learned so much here in my 7 months and hope that will only multiply with each sign in. My single best advice is to check in everyday, even on the days when I have struggled, it helps; you learn something new and become so encouraged/inspired that you are easily able to jump back on the path to a healthier you!

A really simple meal I made not too long ago was a rice/vegetable stir fry.
ingredients: 1 Trader Joe's fully cooked brown rice in a microwave pouch, 1 Birds eye frozen stir- fry vegetables, 1 Tbsp low sodium soy sauce and ground ginger.

Cook frozen veggies as directed, once almost done splash on soy sauce and sprinkle on ground ginger. Fast, easy and yummy. For portion sizes, I follow the packages suggested serving sizes and had a side salad as well...got to get your veggies! emoticon

ARKAIOS: emoticon It sounds like you had a real vacation...how nice!

emoticon don't emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm BACK! :-)

Thank you to my very special co-leaders, April_V_2 and KATESCAPE for covering while I was away! It was the REST and RELAXATION that I REALLY needed! I feel ready to hit the week hard and be back on track. I didn't totally blow it while I was gone, only a few meals that I wouldn't have normally eaten, and I was able to hike and canoe and walk quite a bit, so all in all, did pretty good. :-)

Thank you for thoughts and well wishes while I was away. I missed you all!

(Sigh). Well my first three days have been... Er ....Ok. I went way over calorie range yesterday thanks to a bunch of potstickers at our local Chinese restaurant. But the positive is that I didn't have any cake or creamy things or candy bars. No soda, no wine, no fried foods, no fast food. I also took the dog for a walk. She was kind of shocked. She is a little Shih Tzu so she normally gets her exercise just running around in circles in the house! She was excited though. And as we walked around the neighborhood one little girl (about 6 years old) came up to me and asked to pet the cat :-) it's not the first time someone thought she was a cat! Today as I stir fried some chicken and broccoli for my munch at work today I realized that I really am not much of a cook. And all of the things that I usually cook (Mac and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, lasagna, pasta etc) is exactly the kind of stuff I need to avoid or at least minimize a lot. I need to retrain myself to cook healthier meals. Any ideas for simple (and I mean REALLY simple) healthy meals? I am not much of a cook.....

Well today was not a very productive day. No exercise this morning. Went back to bed after breakfast and cried. As the day went on, I eventually helped my husband in the garden and later painted some cute signs for the patio. I took a relaxing bath and now going to bed. I hope tomorrow is better.

SHADOW833- I am very sorry to hear about your accident. I am a klutz, personally, but my thing is stepping in a hole in the yard or tripping over something that isn't even there. I can be standing still and wobble and twist my ankle. At least you had an actual cat to trip over.
Hope you recover quickly!

Hi everyone, Well I am trying to get back on track again. Today I redid my spark page and goals. I really want to focus on me this time around. I am done with being stressed all the time. I am done with putting other needs before mines. I am done with turning to food when upset. I know I can do this and I will do this for me.
Today we tried to walk the dogs but it was just too hot for them as they didn't want to walk. We got up to 107 today so I felt sorry for the paws you know. The kids got wet and are enjoying playing outside. Hubby wanted to be nice and cook outside so he made us steak with veggies and mashed potatoes for us and the kids wanted hot dogs with fries. Tomorrow our other two kids come home from being with the in laws all weekend. Gonna go spend some time with the kids and hubby catch you all tomorrow.....

Shadow833 I do wish you a quick recover. I completely understand what you going though cause my husband goes though pain every single day as he has two thorn ACL in both knees and his shoulder is always dislocating all due from a work injury which lead him on disability. To make things worst he dropped a heavy box on his foot way back in 2003 and they had to put screws in that how bad he broke it. To this day he has problems with the foot. So I can understand how you feel. I wish you a quick recovery. Feel better soon...

SHADOW833 -- all I can say is ouch. I hope you recover quickly. Whenever any of my cats get stumbled over, I always remind them that they're lucky they are cute, or they'd have to go. Same with the dogs, even though some of them are bigger than me.

I went bowling and broke 200 -- the first time this summer and the first time since I bowled in high school. Then we had to go to my pup's agility class which is always rewarding. We got lucky and the rain stayed away, so we had class outside. It was the first class of the round, and it's always fun to see the new dogs and their inability to pay attention because of all the great smells (the instructor had her horses in there during the week, so the smells were great for the dogs). Lucy is very slow but steady, and I was happy to see she wasn't the "baddie) of the class. It was actually one of the other instructors that had her dog in the class that was the most distracted.

Off to cook dinner (spaghetti and meatballs for lack of imagination) and try to stay awake during our dinner movie. It better be action packed, or I'm snoozing.

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Never give up, never quit.

Getting ready for bed soon,, but wanted to stop by and see how everyone is doing. Apparently it was a Super moon last night or today and the hospital was hopping. It was an insane day at work, but I still came home and changed my clothes and went for a 3 mile walk/run...40 minutes! And clocked 20,988 steps today! My next steps after tallying my challenge boards for the week will be to bed. emoticon

Way to go LANCESS24!! Keep pushing!
I have been bouncing at the 9-11# mark. Can't believe I have already hit a plateau.

I will try to post my pictures of the tie-dye this weekend. I diluted some of the colors since some of the pieces were for my great-niece and she is only 3 months old. So they look kinda faded and I am not too happy with the outcome, but it is what it is. Most likely I will have to post them on my SparkPage and you all can look at them there.

Have a SUPER WONDERFUL Saturday. We are headed over to my mother-in-law's house to do some yard work. Figured since I am still sweaty and stinky from my walk, I might as well help with her yard before the shower.

So I'm excited to say that as of this morning, I have lost 24.8 pounds, the exact weight of my 2 year old. It just boggles the mind to think I've been carrying all this extra weight. I'm sad that I still do look any thinner, but I know that with the next 10 pounds, its really going to start showing. :)

Elaine, I just got home from a 2 hour car ride (both ways) to take my daughter out for sushi we love it so much! I stick with diet friendly rolls and only at 3 pieces today.

He feels like he not supporting us the right way. He also told me he worried that his diabetes is getting worst then better. He tired of all the meds and insulin that he on. His bipolar is getting worst and his depression too. I'm just glad we talking and gonna try you know. I like to say thank you guys for all the help and advice you all gave me.

T.G.I.F. It is a beautiful day here on Cape Cod and I am so lucky to live here...I could just pinch myself. I have had a great week and today is no different. I not going to lie...I had a 0.3 ounce weight gain and, yes, I was upset earlier this morning, but I still took myself clothes shopping and was pleased I was able to buy smaller size clothes and now that all the Summer stuff is on sale, it added to my joy. A side note, I ran into a co-work and she was like, "You look great". We wear uniforms/scrubs at work and they are not the most flattering, not to mention they are way too big for me, since I have lost 32 pounds, they fit, but are really big. So I think my co-worker was shocked because I was in street clothes that fit nicer. It felt great either way to get the compliment. I will spend the money on new scrubs when I reach my goal weight or my they are falling off, which ever comes first. emoticon

TRACYG: emoticon ...It's great to have a veteran Sparker among us!

ANNAG: emoticon To the team and happy belated birthday. 40 was a big one for me( I became a grandmother)...eek I am having the best time, what a precious gift.

It sounds like you are struggling with nutrition. I wanted to invite you to the July Firecrackers Nutritional challenge. You can find the thread on under the Challenges Forum on the 40 Something Team page. Once you locate the thread, please scroll down to the very 1st post, it will give you all the directions needed. We try to keep the post on the challenge threads down for easy tracking. The Nutritional thread keeps you accountable for checking in everyday and tracking your goals for water, freggies (fruits/veggies), tracking food and staying within calorie range. We also have a fitness and mileage challenge is interested...please check them out. Any questions let me or April_V_2 or ARKAIOS know. We are your co-leaders...btw these challenges can be joined at anytime throughout the month. Good luck! emoticon

Happy Friday 40 Somethings!

So glad it's Friday! Woohoo!

I've decided to take the weekend off from posting on the team page. It will be a good break for me, and help me to focus on my family and friends over the weekend. And spending less time online.

My friend and her family that I used to live near about 10 years ago just moved to town, and we are all spending the day together tomorrow. I'm so happy to have a local friend! We moved here about 9 months ago and honestly as an adult it's a lot harder to cultivate new friendships. So this is very exciting!

I'm hoping to talk her into taking a yoga class on the beach with me, or maybe even a yoga on a SUP class which is very popular around here. FVUSCMOM - have you tried that yet?

TIAONYX1/Elaine - I tend to not make the best choices when I forget my lunch bag at home too. But honestly, you could have done a lot worse than sushi and popsicles. I really like vegan sushi, i.e. veggie rolls and avocado rolls mmmmm! And a popsicle has only like what, 80 calories or so? Sounds like a great low cal treat for a hot day!

TRACYG0625 - Welcome back! Glad you're here! I have been on sparkpeople a few times and left and came back too. And I keep coming back because like you, I know that being here does help! So this time I decided I'm just never leaving. That's the plan, like you said "stick with it!" A great goal!

KATESCAPE - I am so glad you are here! I like the idea of an emergency healthy snack in the purse! So smart!

LACESS24 - thank you for the tip about the cauliflower rice! I am definitely checking that out! I am like you, I like using cauliflower as a sub for other higher calorie ingredients, but I'm not crazy about the flavor or texture of cauliflower in it's natural state. I have found this magical recipe that turns cauliflower into a cream sauce that I swear is actually a decent sub for Alfredo sauce! Let me know if you're interested.

SHADOW833/Val - I'm so sorry you're injured. I hope you are all better soon! I know it is very frustrating when our body doesn't let us do what we want to do!

SALAM4545 - Glad you're here! I do a lot better with consistency when I'm here and participating on the site and the boards so I just keep coming back.

IAMMOODY2 - way to go on the workouts yesterday!

SCARLETTHEATHER - I know those plateaus are so frustrating! I hope you can break through. There are a lot of resources here on the spark people site that address plateaus, but I'm sure you already know that. Being healthy is an awesome goal! That is mine too!

I hope everyone has a great on track weekend! I have a mini-goal to actually stay on track all weekend, track all my food all weekend, and stay in my calorie range. And just for this weekend, no adult beverages.

What are your goals for the weekend folks?

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

That is why you must bring everything that you have to give in every moment.

Hi! I just joined this team. =) I turned 40 last month and I came back to SparkPeople 4 weeks ago to get it right this time. I've come to the conclusion that the changes I make have to be permanent so here I am. Eating healthy and drinking enough water each day is a struggle for me. I'm sitting here thinking about cake right now. LOL However, I have stayed true to my workouts. I'm on my first round of Insanity and today is Day 5 of Week 4, so I'm almost halfway through my first round. Yay! I do feel stronger and my clothes feel looser but the scale does not want to move. I'm finding it more difficult to get the pounds off this time. I just keep telling myself that regardless of whether the scale moves, I will continue to workout. My diet needs a serious renovation but it is really expensive to buy the healthy stuff so I just have be careful of what I eat and how much. Any suggestions are welcome! =D

Elaine, I have never learned to like sushi! When I have fish, I want it battered and deep fried! With some fries and hush puppies too! emoticon

Yeah, I just generally stay away from fish!

Good Morning,

Yesterday I binged on sushi and Popsicles. Sushi is my comfort food. Popcicles because it was hot. Not the greatest choices but I'm am emotional eater. I lost my lunch bag yesterday so didn't stick to plan which messed me up. I did get my 20 minutes time saver workout and 30 minutes walk at lunch in.

Tonight my kid is off to my parents for an overnight while I work late. I had a date but it fell through so I'm going to work instead.

Today's Goal: Find my lunch bag. Lol

APRIL - thank you for the welcome and support. I really appreciated it.

TRACY G - Welcome back.

HEATHER - cool about your son.

LACESS24 - cauliflower mash. Not a fan myself either

VAL - Sparkpeople has a few really good seated workout videos on the site that can keep you active despite your injury. I hope you heal quick.

Good Friday morning! I'm so glad the weekend is almost here!

Our oldest son come home last night for a visit. We weren't expecting him, so it was a nice suprise. I have no illusions that it's because he missed us - I know it's because he missed his girlfriend! emoticon That's ok - we really like her. Possibly future daughter-in-law material? I don't want to jinx it!!
