I have very little time when I get home to post or track my efforts. My phone has an app on it for SP but I can't figure out how to get to my team page from it. Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,

Lori

So happy to see the May challenges up! I didn't join the last one because it was so late in the month. Now if the rain will just stop so I can go walk... I don't want to do a home workout today, but I will if I must.

What does everyone else do for their workouts? I'm still in my beginning stages, so I'm resorting to what worked for me before... Leslie Sansone's walk at home workouts and/or walking outdoors along with strength training.

So glad I don't have to go anywhere today. Just going to work on cleaning my house. My goal is to get the floors mopped and clean the carpet in one room today.

MPotter, I know what you mean about the gloomy weather and the sinuses! I have trigeminal neuralgia that is brought on by sinus issues, so I have to take my Flonase and other allergy meds daily.

It's been raining on a daily basis here, and we're not supposed to have a rain-free day until around the 7th.
emoticon

As for your need for a little kick--why not try vitamin water? I drink Glaceau brand zero calorie water daily. Revive (fruit punch flavor) has added potassium that may help give you the energy boost you need. I also love their XXX (acai blueberry). Just make sure the bottle says "zero" on it if you want no calories.

This morning I discovered https://jog.fm/ and I'm hooked! I'm not sure if anyone else knows about this site (I'm sure some do), but you can create playlists for your walking, running or cycling set to your own pace. It's free (woohoo!!!!) as long as you already have your music. So, I've been making walking playlists all morning. LOL Now that I have a record player, I can dig out all of my Dad's old 45's and put them onto my laptop and use them as well. I even pulled out my old CD's and made a few with them. Now I just need to put them onto my phone and away I will go. I love having music for my workouts! They do have the option to use iTunes or Amazon to purchase your songs, though.
emoticon

I'm trying to keep myself busy because my guy started a new job where he's stuck working 12 hour shifts every weekend. Since we're sharing my car, he has it so I'm not able to go anywhere unless I walk. Sadly I'm on the outskirts of town so it is a 3 hour (not to mention tick-filled) walk to get to the battlefield. I'll just be walking around my little neck of the woods.

Have a great day, everyone!

Another gloomy day in Wisconsin. My sinuses are feeling a bit better, but this wet, damp weather is not helping. It is supposed to get near the 70's later this week, so hopefully....

I plan on walking every other day this week and see how I do. The last time I walked every day, it wore me out. Not sure if it was too much too fast, or my sinuses. I think it is best to ease into it for now.

Bought some Imperial Acai Blueberry White Tea at Teavana yesterday that has a higher caffeine content. My plan is to have a cup when I get home from work to try and spike my energy a bit. It would be so much healthier than drinking a can of soda!

Today is grocery shopping and errands. Making something quick and easy for dinner, and I don't need to make new lunches until tomorrow night. Going to try another Spark recipe. The spinach pasta salad I made last week was very good, and I enjoyed it very much! Salad season :)

Have a great day!

Tammy congrats on the loss!! I think you sent me your rain. It's storming here.

Sandy, glad you are feeling better!

I'm taking it easy tonight. Been a busy last 2 days. I've worked at my kids school a total of 12 hours in the last 2 days. I'm beat but our event was a success!! Tomorrow I'm going to start cleaning the carpets in my house. Don't really want to but they are overdue.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!!

Thank you, Sheleen! I just figure there's no way I'm going to win this battle if I'm going to doubt myself all the time. I know that I can do this, and so can anyone else. Attitude is very important because some days the only one there to pick you up when you're down is yourself!

Now that you've got me thinking, I may just go and type on my blog a bit. LOL

Thanks again!

Rain, rain, go away!!!! This weather is really bringing me down. It's so dreary and always affects my mood.

On the plus side, I lost another pound. I'd planned for 2, but I'll take what I can get!

Have a good day, everyone!

Debbie, hoping you find some relief soon.

MIchelle, glad you are feeling better. I bet you are so excited about the grandbaby.

Tammy, this happens to all of us. Just brush yourself off and get it done today.

I'm doing good. Been staying within my calorie range and getting my exercise in. Going crazy at work today since I can't go walking at lunch. I'll have about 1/2 hour to walk before my daughter's soccer game tonight. Then will get a little more in once I get home from the game.

I had a rough day today and didn't do my workout. I just feel incredibly drained and I know it's because Auntie Flo is here and I'm not getting nearly enough sleep.

I thought for sure I would blow it with my food today. I actually wasn't hungry! I still have to eat more to get to 1200 calories and it's after 8:30pm. I'm not sure if I'm going to worry about it or not. I'll be back to normal soon.

I just hope I don't feel this way tomorrow as well. I need to get my strength training in. I even pulled my free weights out to work on my arms!

Hope everyone had a good day!

Wednesday.... Over the hump!

Feeling a bit better every day. This morning was the first day I have not woken up with a headache. Progress is happening!

I am packing my overnight bag tonight for when my daughter goes into labor. Just easier to grab and go! That way, I can easily get a hotel room or crash at her place for the night! Glad Anastasia waited so I can get that done!

Leftover Chicken Vegetable Casserole tonight. Yum!
Speaking of food, I am trying cottage cheese with fresh blueberries for a different snack this week. Very good with a bit more protein :)

My nutritionist was very happy for me completing the diet but we are still puzzled as to what is causing it. I am going to keep a journal of what I eat and how it makes me feel to see if we can pin it down. I'll keep you all posted of my progress.

My regular doctor said this is caused by the hyatial hernial I have pushing the acid back up into my esophogas. So GERD / Heartburn / whatever you call it - it sucks!

thanks! Debbie

Debbie, hope you get to feeling better. I get that every once in awhile and it's so annoying.

Michelle, glad you are feeling better. It's so motivating when people notice we are losing. Keep it up, you've done great!!

Tammy, great job for sticking to your eating plans. Planning definitely is the key for me. I do so much better when I have my meals planned for at least a copule of days.

Debbie, I'm new to the group so I don't know you very well or your history, but that sounds like GERD. I've been diagnosed with that for several months now. I'm assuming you've already seen a doctor about that, though. I hope it eases up for you soon!

Michelle, it's awesome when people take notice of your accomplishments! I see you've come a long way. You're someone for the rest of us to try to emulate!

By the way, it went up to 84 sticky, humid degrees here today! There's no point in putting in the AC's because we'll be back in the 60's starting tomorrow. It is currently 82 degrees inside my house. Yuck!

I had a decent day today. I went out and voted in the primary election, then went for a walk around town. I'm proud of myself for sticking to my foods that I've planned for myself each day. It's a good way to keep me from deviating from it... I don't like feeling guilty! LOL

Hope everyone had a nice day!

Felt a little bit better today. It was the first day I did not take a sinus pill along with the antibiotics. I could feel everything trying to drain. Hopefully, it will continue.

I was surprised at how cold it was when I left work today. I think it was warmer at 4 when I went in! Brrrrrrr......

Had my spinach and tomato salad for lunch today. Simple and so yummy! So glad I found that one on Spark!!

I had a nice compliment from the 2nd shift lead this afternoon. She asked me how much weight I had lost and that I could stop losing now :) It always makes you feel good!

Leftovers for dinner, but glad I have a small stash built up again. So much easier for me that way!

HI! Sorry I have not been around for a few days. I did complete my 2 weeks of acid free diet. I cannot say that I feel any better. Still getting heartburn, still burping, still feeling kind of crappy. I'm going to see my nutritionist today so we will see what she has to say.

The weather has been getting nicer and I was able to spend some time in the yard last night cutting up the grapevines I pulled down....there is lots of yard work to be done.

Talk to you soon,

Debbie

Michelle, I love that you're trying new recipes. I really should experiment with those. I've always wanted to do the spiral zucchini but never get around to it.

Tammy, you are doing a fantastic job.

I'm finally getting back on track. I've gotten great walks in the last 4 days and have stayed within my calorie range the last 2 days. That is big for me lately. I think the weather has a lot to do with it. I love spring!!

I was down feeling ill most of the weekend. Did some grocery shopping and cooking yesterday, but never did get to my lunches. Grabbed a sub from Subway for today, and made a new salad this afternoon for the rest of the week. It is a Spark recipe, and sounded good with spinach, feta cheese, grape tomatoes...

I finally cooked up that new zucchini meal with butternut squash. It is so good!!! The sauce is butternut squash with coconut milk and rosemary - very yummy! You spiralize the zucchini and I added some chicken for some extra protein. I was able to eat a heaping plate of veggies for low calories.

No baby yet.... She had cramps this morning, which subsided. Then became concerned this afternoon because she had not felt Anastasia move since 2 this morning. Her placenta is up front which cushions a lot of the movement. She went in, and she is good. Whew!!! But, when they checked her cervix, Anastasia is officially in the birth canal. They felt her head move while swiping her membranes again in the cervix. I don't think she could go any lower.....LOL

I tried a new organic drink by Chia Mama. It was very good with chia seeds in it. 10 oz for 120 calories. Not something, I would drink every day, but a nice treat.

Well, past my bed time, so I best be going. Have a great night!

Thanks!

I noticed I might have to change my goals for my workouts. My sweetie and I have been walking in the evenings, and I only have it configured for my morning workouts. I'm getting in a lot more exercise than I'd planned (and I'm not complaining)!

I'm also noticing that I'm planning my meals ahead of time and by the end of the day, I have to remove things that I haven't eaten because I'm just not hungry. Luckily I always plan to eat toward the higher end of my range. Most days I'm mid to lower range at the end of the day after removing what I haven't eaten.

I think I'm doing pretty well so far!

I hope you all had a good day!

~Tammy

Good morning!

I struggled a bit over the weekend (Saturday), but I made sure I got my cardio in. I don't think it's going to be a setback at all. I know not to do it often, and to get back on track immediately if I slip up.

We walked around town yesterday and got a couple of miles in, and I made and ate eggplant Parmesan for the first time. It was a Spark recipe so I figured I'd try it out. It's phenomenal! I will definitely make it again.

Today it's back to my regular workout routine with my strength training added in. I've got a long way to go to reach my goal. Time to get started!

Have a great day everyone!

Hope everyone is doing good. I can't get enough of this awesome weather! 70-80 degrees is perfect for me. Got an awesome walk in today. I just love being outside! We have a busy week of soccer games for one daughter and drum lessons and drum line auditions for the other. I'm off on Wednesday so I'll get a little down time to myself! Love those breaks.

spent the day relaxing trying to recuperate from this sinus infection. The left side of my face feels swollen, and I am ready for the antibiotics to start working. So, I didn't get much sewing done today. Thought I would do more good resting up.

My daughter called me this morning. What she had thought was her mucous plug a few weeks ago was not. She lost a huge mucous plug very early this morning. She had cramping last night, as usual but with this, she feels as if it may finally be progressing.

Looking for some new lunch and snack ideas. I usually eat three produce based snacks every morning, but am getting bored with it. But, they are the only low calorie foods I can fit in. I do eat apples and peanut butter, which I love! But, the other two... The problem is I am at work for 7 hours before lunch, so I need snacks to munch on. I'll have to do some thinking and searching..

Happy Saturday! Going to an authentic Spanish wedding today! So excited! Worried a little about the food but the dancing should definitely take care of that issue :) Nice to see so many new ones on here.

Thanks to so many of you for checking on me and holding me accountable. I appreciate it and NEED it!

It's going to be an interesting day. I'm making sure that I go out walking today (at least a mile and a half) because we're going out tonight to see "The Jungle Book". I'm making sure that I eat right all day because I know I'm going to have popcorn. I didn't deprive myself when I lost weight last time, so I'm not going to this time.

Have a great day everyone!

Thanks Cat! I'm trying my best.

As for today, I've decided to go back to Friday weigh-ins just like I did before. So, I am officially down 5 pounds in my first week of eating right and exercising! I'm thrilled to say the least! I know it will slow down, but it's always a good feeling seeing those numbers go down. I can't wait until I finally see some inches come off, though. I hate waiting a month to pull out the tape. I'm so impatient with these things. LOL

I'm really looking forward to this afternoon. My guy is off today, so we're going to go walk part of the battlefield (I live in Gettysburg, PA). We usually walk through town on weekends, but I really love when we can actually get out in the other areas. Now that winter's over and the ground isn't so soggy, I can enjoy it again!

By the way, I don't have many friends on here for support. If anyone would like to add me, feel free to do so! The more, the merrier, right?

Have a great day, all!

~Tammy

It WILL Tammy. You can do it. I just turned 50 (yes...I should've moved on to the next age-bracket team, but didn't want to leave this one!) and I managed to do it! It does take more work, but is SO worth it!!

Checking in! So far I'm doing really well. It's always easy when I can plan my meals ahead. I need to run to the store in a bit to pick up more boneless chicken for my lunches. I'm trying to pick up good habits that I had when I used SP back in 2007/2008. I know how I did it, I'm just not so sure that it'll work as well now that I'm 41 instead of 32. LOL

Have a great evening, all!

Michelle I love getting those kind of compliments!! Let me know how the new recipe turns out.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm struggling a bit. Been fighting the allergies/cold for a week now and it's driving me crazy! I think I'm getting better then a couple hours later I feel crappy again. Ugh!! We have nothing going on tonight and tomorrow night so I'm going to bed early.

I am trying really hard to quit my napping after work. I walked the last three days, and hope to continue it. And, my evening is quite as short. I feel more productive, just tired. I'll adjust.

I forgot to tell you about my compliment yesterday! At my appointment for my mammogram yesterday, the technician asked if I had lost weight. Must be less fatty tissue in the pictures....LOL

Trying a new recipe tomorrow with zucchini and butternut squash. I added chicken for more protein and to make it more of a meal, rather than a side dish. It's a recipe I have been holding on to for a while. You have to spiralize the zucchini and had to buy the tool for that.

I survived week 1 of my acid free diet. It was not so bad. I am still having acid attacks but I know I cannot fix this problem over night. I'm onto week two of the acid free diet.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Ours was busy. Had a band fundraiser Friday night for my youngest daughter. I was the chair person for it so by the end of the night I was exhausted. Saturday was prom for my oldest daughter. She looked so beautiful and had such a good time. We sat around and did nothing yesterday. I'm trying to get my allergies under control. I love spring but hate allergy season!!

Tammy welcome to the team!!! You will find a lot of supportive people in this group.

Just stopping in to say hello! I'm new to the team, but not to SP (though I took a several year hiatus...Eek!). I posted in the "Introduce Yourself" section as well, and made sure that I blogged because I know that posting and blogging helped me all those years ago.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Well done - 4lbs is fantastic!
I love my quiet spark time too - though I am often interrupted by cats and a boisterous dog lol.
The macaroni cheese sounds lovely - but then, I adore tomatoes and the sun-dried variety are my absolute favourite :)

Hope you ARE enjoying your lovely Sunday :)

I have trouble getting my daily exercise in. I get up at 2 every morning for work, and am just exhausted when I get home. Then, I am in bed by 6.

I eat 2 servings of fresh fruit and 1 serving of raw vegetables every morning for snacks at work. My favorite is apples with peanut butter! I only use 2 tablespoons, but it really helps satisfy and gives me some protein that I need.

Enjoying my morning coffee this morning. Sometimes, it is nice to have this quiet time with Spark :)

I will be doing my grocery shopping this afternoon. I lost 4 pounds this week. To celebrate we are going to a Smoothie Shop that also offers Sandwiches made with whole foods. I love the place! So, we decided to do our shopping at the same time.

We ended up having a Sun-Dried Tomato and Marscapone Macaroni & Cheese last night for dinner. I never made it to the store to get the ingredients for the Chicken Casserole I planned on. That will be dinner tonight! The Macaroni & Cheese was good, just not something to eat all the time.

Going to enjoy my Sunday! Enjoy this weather!

JADEDWONDER...
Well done (again)... I find daily exercise the hardest - I only walk my dog for a mile each day... but sometimes just can't be bothered with the whole 'getting up and getting ready' routine. I do it though - and very much like yourself, feel so much better after completing some exercise.
As for fruit and veggies - I like mine oven roasted - no oils at all, just some spices and/or herbs, and some lemon juice. Courgettes with tomatoes and onions are my favourite as a basis - then I can add whatever I feel like ... mushrooms are my veggie of choice right now :) Butter beans, peas, quorn, sweet potato, squash, butternut squash... it all tastes good straight from the oven with a bit of spice and lemon (or lime).
Hot veggies served on lettuce leaves are amazing too - use iceberg or chinese lettuce leaves as a wrap for the hot veg - gorgeous!
Just remembered this, so had to add it ;
Cauliflower!
Get a whole cauliflower, and cut it into about 1/2" to 1" slices. Season, add any spices etc you want to flavour it with, and then griddle it - or dry fry in a frying pan. You can use this cauliflower 'slab' as a burger - it's surprisingly meaty, and very filling. Add a sprinkling of toasted almond slivers and a bit of natural yoghurt with lemon and/or lime juice and chilli seasoning for a real treat :)

Happy Friday everyone! So I've been working out/walking getting some kind of physical exercise consistently for about a month BUT still struggling with the nutrition side. Does anyone else have that issue-nutrition will be good but not exercising or vice versa??

Had a rough start this morning, but made it through. I took some orange passionfruit green tea for this afternoon as a pickup. It was very good! Making myself get to bed early to get back on track this week.

Made a crescent topped casserole tonight - very tasty! It called for 2 lbs of ground beef. Way too much! I added corn to one pound. Worked very well!

I'm hoping to get my schedule in check this week, and start walking in the morning next week. I am just way too tired to walk after work.

My daughter had an ultrasound today. Anastasia has definitely dropped, and she is beginning to turn. Right now, she is sideways. Her ultrasound pictures look like she is frowning. I guess she didn't like being poked!! emoticon

Have a great evening. Warmer weather is coming!

Hi everyone! Today I am starting my low acid diet. Hopefully I can find out what triggers the acid reflux and get on my way to getting better. Breakfast and snack eaten, lunch in about 1/2 hour....so far so good. I'll keep you posted.

Debbie I hope the new diet helps. I get the acid every once in awhile. It sucks!!

Sandy I hope you feel better soon. Your chore list for the day sounds like mine. I decided to go room by room. I got my bathroom and my room cleaned. I was able to get my closet cleaned out and got a donation box together for pick up on Tuesday. I still have 3 more loads of laundry to do. It never ends!!

I have found a new walking partner. We are going to walk on the track at our kids school in the evenings. Starting out slow and will build up from there. Hoping it doesn't rain tomorrow like it's supposed to.

Morning well I woke up feeling like I was hit by a truck. I just not into the grove of things yet and I have a bunch of stuff to do today like laundry, put clothes away from the last load I did. give my puppy a bath, clean up the house, decided what to make for dinner, to do my girls hair and nails for school on Monday, to cover up hole that my other dogs are making to get to my neighbor dog which is right next door. I been up since 8 this morning and I still haven't done anything yet. But sit here and try to enjoy a cup of coffee which is my 4th cup so far.

Hi! Hope everyone is having a good week. It is raining today and they are calling for snow on Saturday - we had a pretty mild winter but it just does not want to give up!

I am going to start a low acid diet on Monday - for 2 weeks - to see if it helps my acid reflux. I have the book but just gives a list of foods to eat for the first 2 weeks - so I have to come up with some sort of meals. Going to sit down and figure it all out, go to the grocery store and be ready to start on Monday. I see my nutritionist on the 27th and hopefully will have good news to report to her. I'm so sick of having acid reflux and being on all this medicine. Hoping for good luck on the acid free eating!

Those sound like really long hours. And I thought 9 1/2 hour days were long!

Hope you are at least getting some exercise with those heavy boots. Might as well at least burn some calories!!!

My daughter seems to have more energy these days, in spite of the lack of sleep. I wonder if it the "nesting" time before labor? Her appointments are tomorrow morning, so hopefully they can let her know how she is doing, and what their thoughts are.

Tonight, I cooked myself dinner for one. I never do that - it's always frozen leftovers thawed to be eaten. We are low on leftovers, so I decided to grill a chicken breast on the george forman, steam some fire roasted veggies and chicken flavored rice.

Woke up this morning so tired! I had to remind myself three times that it is only Wednesday. Just kept thinking it is Thursday. So hard to add another day to the week, and Saturday on top of it!

Hoping to get to bed a bit earlier today. Hope I can wake up better tomorrow!

Michelle

Sounds rough on the job. Hopefully it will get easier for you.

I had a good day today. Had to get blood drawn :( but the lady did a great job. Then went to get a massage. I'm getting spoiled with these massages. I get one more this month and then my membership is done.
