We have been in the same situation before. But remember when you are buying food, the cheaper foods can still be healthy. It's all about how you look at it. You have to keep going. Try to pick up another workout day. Remember stress can hinder weight loss too. So even if it's an extra 20 minutes do it. You will see results in no time and don't pressure yourself to lose a certain amount by a certain time because if you don't make it you are more entitled to give up. Just try to lose what you can. You still have to lose after your birthday right? So you will be all the better for it. And people will just be glad you a getting healthy.

Remember that your weight can fluctuate for no known reasons through out a day, week or month. Just remember to track everything, get all your fruits and veggies, fiber, water, some dairy, lean protein, etc.
All the nutritional components of a healthy diet are crucial. Review what you have been eating and make sure you are getting what your body needs.
Don't let the scale get you down, Add in more water and focus on flushing out your system. One day of going over is not going to make you gain that much weight there have to be other factors involved it is probably sodium, sleep, or something totally different but next week will be better. You can do it!
The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. That scale can really put you down in the dumps! I have been there myself and know exactly what you mean. I'm very sorry you are going through a rough time! As for the foods, even if you are tight on money, just try to read the labels the best you can and aim for those healthy fruits and vegetables, they aren't very expensive at all! And water, well water is practically free! I hope this helps, and wish you the best of luck!

Okay.. I know I haven’t posted in here for a long time, but I’m really in a discouraged state of mind right now.
I set a goal a week before July ended to lose 10 lbs by my birthday (which is in 19 days). I feel I took a step backward this morning when my scale said 1.6 gained. Oddly enough, I know what I did – gave into my boredom and ate/drank things I shouldn’t have. I exercised this week – well, twice: burned 908 calories this week. I have to admit when I saw the number on the scale, I cried. Thinking I’ve done well.
Right now, my husband and I don’t have the funds to get the healthy stuff or anything at all for that matter. So I have very limited food choices. This is really hard for me right now.
