Hi folks, I am new to SparkPeople and finding it helpful. Spending a lot of time thinking about food! Not all bad, but it is a little tiring.

I have a chronic pain condition and my weight was starting to seriously threaten my ability to manage my health, such as it is. So my arthritic dog and I are losing weight and adding more activity.

Also means I can't use food as a way to cheer myself up. Playing with dogs and singing still work though. And knitting keeps me on an even keel.

I may pop in and out of team so if I miss something and look clueless, please be kind and let me know:) With CRPS, some days are better than others so I try to join in while I can.

I am currently exploring loving-kindness meditation and trying to shift my existence towards one of well-wishing towards every person. It sounded pretty goofy when I first heard of it, but it is starting to feel more like a worthwhile challenge. Anyone else working on that?

My goal for June is to get my butt back on track! I have put on about 10 pounds since Jan and want to get them off, plus the weight that I didn't get off before! So, far, I'm on the right track. :)

I had a great day yesterday with walking my pooch for an hour and then had a fantastic tennis lesson in the afternoon! I am so excited to be playing tennis and look forward to playing more regularly now that I have joined the local tennis club emoticon

Chrimsonfyre = Planing flowers sounds great!! i've been looking at my small condo patio area and thinking it really needs a tidy up and I'm waiting a little longer before potting my few planters. I don't want to plant the flowers and have a cold spell kill them!

Hi all
I've had 2 good days - walked to work both yesterday and ran to work today. Got over 10,000 steps both ways and making some changes to diet - tracking and evaluating what I'm eating and working at decreasing fat intake.

Hoping I'll see a change on the scale to make me feel like I'm seeing results I want to see... Making it worthwhile. Although I know in my head there are so many other NSV... The scale number is the most motivating and satisfying.

Good Morning :)

Yesterday was a tough day for me. I did well though the day, work was fine. Meals on track til I got home. i ate pizza for dinner (double what i planned to eat) and then i was SLEEPY.. could not stay awake. had no motivation to go walking with my dog. i ended up napping on the couch while watching tennis and hockey on the tv. I did however DRAG MY ARSE TO THE GYM and got 1/2 hour in on the treadmill of walk / run intervals!!

So while the day wasn't what I had planned and it was a struggle to stay on track with my plan, it WAS NOT A LOSS. I got myself moving, i tracked what I ate, I pushed and today is a new day!

I've been tracking my foods the last 3 days and realize I really need to do something about my diet... i didn't think i ate that badly, but apparently i need to cut down on the fat!! I honestly didn't realize my fat intake was so high! as in 34 grams OVER the max daily intake. So here I am now on making some small changes.

I usually eat 2 eggs, ham slices, cheese slice on toast. This morning, I changed it to 1 egg, 2 egg white scramble with 1/2 slice of cheese and 1/2 the ham i usually have. I don't feel deprived yet...

emoticon How have you guys modified your diet? are you strict with meal planning or do you eat what you feel like eating? What changes have you made if any?

I'm new to the team! I'm hoping this team is active and that I can find some great support, ideas & enthusiasm from you all! I'm also hoping that I'll be able to help you along your own journeys!!

A little about me.. i'm 36, live in BC, Canada. I'm single, I live alone with my 7 year old dog and 12 year old cat. I work full time as a registered nurse specializing in TB care (so no shift work for me!)

I'm working at losing weight again - i've been steady at 255-257 lbs for the last 2 years regardless of my activity levels and it's time to bump it up a notch and get back on track. My long term goal is to get back to 175 lbs (which was my high school weight) which puts me at about 80 lbs to lose. I recently saw some pictures from 4 years ago when I was my lowest weight (228 lbs) and I was much happier with myself then but it slow crept up again and i haven' been committed as I was when I was at 228lbs. I now recognize that at that time, i was tracking daily and engage with spark groups/challenges and that in order to get 'back on track' i must get back to doing what works! tracking and reaching out to others who understand what I'm going through!

Today my coworker asked how much weight I lost, which isn't too much as I've just started but she said it was noticeable! I told her 6 pounds and she said no, it has to be more than that. I told her that I'm not calling what I'm doing a "diet" (bad 4 letter word). I'm just being more conscientious of what I'm eating.

Regardless of what the scale says - that's a great measurement not to mention a great feeling!!!!

Hello
Wow today I had my butt handed to me at work. I usually do medication aid but this month I am scheduled to work the floor as a caregiver on rotating shifts. I am so wiped. I wore my fitbit and got over my 10 000 step goal. My coworkers were looking at my schedule and they are like you are never going to get a sleep schedule. I smiled and said maybe not but I am sure I ll get skinny working all these active hours. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend. emoticon Good night!

Actually...We had a great weekend. We are always on the go with something or the other...but I am a bit kamikaze (sp??)

LOL so Friday with 4 kids home on PD day we went to the museum Mom, 6 kids and our sitter- My hubby was helping a friend move...and that was a long!!! day but great fun! We have a great Children's museum and they went to the IMAX to see the Galapagos 3D so we did well from 11-3 then go home to quick dinner 2 kiddles to Friday evening activities at Church and then...

Hubby and I had a date night!?! LOL it was the beginning of the 3 wks Winter festival here and my hubby is from Barbados and this is his 2nd winter here so...with frostbite warning and an already exhausted momma (who workout prior to walking around a museum for 4 hrs)...was back out on the town same day....We walked about the park were we had a great time saw a fire dance show, stilt walkers beautiful ice sulptures and my hubby...but I was pooped by the time we got home. Total Grace of God our baby slept!!!! 5 hrs straight :)

Today I got kids started on weekend chores, took down my tree, worked out with my girls then went to rehearsals with my girls...( my 15yo and I have music competitions in 3 wks...and that girl is a workaholic like her mamma because she also has a figure skating comp on the same day...praying they aren't at the same times :( ) Made chili for dinner and will finally grace my bed after picking up my kiddle from babysitting for friends.

Anyway tomorrow church, anniversary party for friends, playdates...it never ends...deliberating on either exercising or just stretching? Do I dare attempt it?

Anyway for the past 3 days hit my nutrition goals was not over...so I rewarded myself with a glass of wine :) I know crazy...I don't understand when we are always on the go and busy how I can still struggle with my weight. Anyways...one day at a time...one day closer to swing dancing and belly dancing again. Hmmm maybe a long term goal one day could be to maybe enter a amateur belly dance competition...hmmm...sleep let's sleep first :) Night all...All the best to you folks for tomorrow

Good morning teamsters! I'm happy to say that so far in 2015, I've lost 9 pounds! I have 49 pounds left to go this year! I can DO THIS!!!!!!!!!! There are 48 weeks left this year and if I can continue to make progress like I have then I'll reach my goal of 130 on NYE 2015! emoticon

great job with the journal! If you are new to exercise, why not start with just 10 minutes a day? If you are sore, a 10 minute walk should be ok. Just if you are really sore from a strenuous work out the day before, it's ok to take a rest day or a slower day, stretch and heal yourself.

Misty I feel your pain. I have to work this weekend too, although I don't work every weekend it still is a bummer knowing that you can't enjoy it like everyone else does. I do hope you get some time off to enjoy though!
