I count unsweet tea and flavored water that has 0calories. Nothing caffinated goes in my count. A lot of people mistake thirst for hunger. If you feel hungry try drinking a glass of ice water. If it doesn't help then have a snack.

Personally, I just count plain or lemon infused water, herbal teas with no sweetner, and iced tea (unsweetened). I have gotten to the point that I actually have cravings for iced water! You will get to the point of loving your water, I'm pretty sure!

Most people I know will count calorie-less water-based drinks like tea for their water. Personally, I only count straight water as water.

I've done WW in the past and pretty much diet soda, tea, coffee, etc. all counted as water. I'm not sure milk counted though. So I wasn't sure if it's ok for me to count my tea as part of my water intake. I think I'll continue to count it and if I ever get up to levels where it doesn't need to count, I'll rethink it.

Thanks for all the information!

according to my dietician anything that is not caffeinated can count toward your "water" intake or hydrating beverage count. even milk counts. this is something I struggle with only bc my caffeine intake is sky high at the moment.

I used to never drink water. At one point in my life I was a 2 liter of Dew a day drinker. OMG did I just admit that? .. I then switched to diet coke. Once I started this journey I limited my soda to one a day at dinner only. I break my water up with small goals during the day. I drink 16 oz cups at work and make sure to get 5 in per day. 2 before lunch, 1 with lunch, 2 after lunch (easy cuz I usually have just walked 2 miles). Then 18 oz at dinner makes up 98oz. The rest happens with teeth brushing and small sips the rest of the evening. You will work up to it and you will become good friends with your bathroom! emoticon

Thanks...I'm in awe of both of you. I can barely seem to get 7 glasses of water in a day. And that's including using my tea towards the count! I guess I just don't enjoy drinking water that much. But thanks for your help!

I count anything that does not contain caffeine. But I also drink 100oz of plain water daily.

I count tea and flavored waters, but I also add them to my tracker if they are going to add any calories to my day. I still aim for 12+ glasses of actual water, additional fluids are bonuses.

I'm not sure if I'm counting my water accurately or not. I count my tea in the morning (green tea or herbal tea) in my water intake for the day. Is that acceptable? How about a water-based beverage during the day? Like lemonade or iced tea? Would anyone count that as part of your water intake??

Please help - I'm confused!
