I maaaybe had a little ice cream last week. And perhaps a couple nutter butters. My sweet tooth is just such a monster! I've been doing well otherwise, so I'm calling that a win anyway.

We set a date for next May, which is very soon. I didn't really want to do a year or longer for planning, and I live in a tourist community that's really only active for about four months a year, so I needed to plan it at a time when everything would be open and available. I like the whirlwind because it keeps me motivated to making progress. It helps that my MOH is a total taskmaster in the best way possible.

It's the last day of September! Are you still calling it a tie? You're totally right that what we call a tie now would have been a major win a year ago. Nice work!

108! That's a lot of sun salutations...

Have you set a date? We got engaged on a Friday and I had the date set on Sunday and had paid my down payment on a location a week later. Now days, most people plan their wedding for like a year - I had just shy of 7 months. And it turned out perfect, but man it was a whirlwind.

So the month of September so far has been one big tie. I still haven't lost any weight, but I'm working out more often, which is awesome. I'll have days where I do great food-wise and then the next day, I'll totally blow it. Having said that, if I look at where I am this year compared to where I was last year at this time, I'm in good shape.

Good luck with no chocolate and junk food!!! You can do it!

Thank you, JEFFSCOGIRL! My ring is so gorgeous, I definitely do get distracted with it sometimes. So stinkin' sparkly! We've already started the hard part of planning a wedding; my parents are way into it so it's been a whirlwind of activity so far.

I'm going to need some serious wins going forward, because I've resolved to lose the last 13 pounds to achieve my goal weight between now and the end of the year. That means I've recommitted to clean eating with no junk food (good-bye chocolate, my old friend...). I'm also going to start branching out in my workouts, including adding swimming and more winter sports when the snow comes.

I'm starting today with no junk and by attending a special yoga class in honor of the autumnal equinox in which we're performing 108 sun salutations. 108! This will be the autumn of no ties, no losses, just winning. :)

THAT'S THE ULTIMATE WIN!!!!

I totally just got chills reading that - how AMAZING for you Aimless!!!!!!!!

Congratulations! Can you post a picture of the ring? Also, speaking from experience, it's best to turn it around whilst driving - I still catch a glance at my ring and almost get in accidents.

Happy Birthday/Engagement/great race! What an amazing win for you this weekend!!!!!!

This weekend was a major win! I ran leg 5 of the Klondike Road Relay through British Columbia and the Yukon, which was 13.9 miles, and killed it! I managed 9:50 per mile on a really challenging course, with lots of hills and rough terrain. On top of that, I got engaged in the middle of my leg! My amazing boyfriend proposed right at the top of the most difficult hill! Then he went on to run a 16 mile leg like a champ! And it was my birthday!

I may have eaten too many cupcakes and drank too much beer, but you only get one engagement/birthday/road relay weekend in your lifetime, so I don't even care. WIN WIN WIN.

I don't understand this phrase you say "a little more chocolate than is strictly necessary"...
I didn't know there was such a thing as too much chocolate...

Anyway, today was a LOSS. Didn't get any exercise in, ate too much (though it was deeelicious Indian food, so I'm totally ok with going a little over) and work stressed me the heck out today - hence the overeating.

At least tomorrow is a new day. It's going to be busy, so we're hoping for a tie! I even packed my lunch already in the hopes that I will not overeat!

Injuries suck! I have some weird thing going on with my knee and calf that's keeping me from running even though I have a road relay in two short weeks. Resting is so hard! I'm still calling yesterday a win because I went to an amazing, challenging, much-needed yoga class last night that really helped me process some of the stress from work. Also, my eating has been okay, although perhaps there's been a little more chocolate than is strictly necessary.

Nice work ladies!

My back was feeling better, then I went to the gym today and decided I was the Incredible Hulk. It's a bit sore now, so I'm going to take a hot shower and stretch again before bed.

Today - other than my back - was a WIN!!! Did great on my food choices, worked out like a boss (ok, so I over did it, but I'm proud of myself still!) and came home and did chores.

Yep. I said it. I did "chores". It was crazy. If Mr. Handsome had been home, he would have been shocked. But he wasn't so he can just be shocked when he gets home :).

Welcome FHIOSAT! I too am a returning Sparker and feel like the 2nd time around is much more effective!

How was everyone's weekend?

Welcome back, FHIOSAT! Good luck on your new start! I love yoga. It's a great way to ease back into a regular exercise routine.

How are you feeling, JEFFSCOGIRL? Is your back feeling better?

This week was a win overall. I'm having a really stressful time at work, but I still managed to fit in four runs and a few yoga practices and to eat well, as best as I could given my time constraints. On Thursday, I had an especially tough day, and instead of eating my way through the stress, I strapped on my running shoes and did a tough 8.4 mile hill workout. I felt amazing afterwards, like I could do anything, SO WIN.

Have a great weekend!

Today was a tie! Did a new zumba workout that was really fun as well as a yoga workout - did power yoga yesterday so was a bit stiff from that and did Hatha yoga today. Then my hubbie brought home some chocolate cake so of course I had to have some! I did manage to freeze most of it though for other days I feel like a nibble, which is very disciplined for me!!

By the way I'm a returning newbie - joined in 2011 but didn't really seriously log everything before - I think I managed for a day or two. This time I'm determined, this is my second week and enjoying exercising every day. Even considering the couch to 5k and I normally hate running (we'll see how long that idea lasts!). I've been told to stay off dairy for health reasons so my current nutrition challenge is getting enough calcium in my diet! Sparkpeople really is educational :)

I'm in the same boat! I bent over at work on Friday and hurt my back. So Friday and Saturday I didn't do any exercise. One the one hand I'm bummed, but on the other I think it's probably for the best that I didn't do anything.

Today is a tie - did GREAT on food choices, but could not for the life of me find more than 10 minutes to walk. I do think if I'd worn a pedometer today I would feel better about things - I walked from one end of the school to the other about 10 times today - but alas, I didn't, and I really want my fitness minutes to be outside of my work day. I'm trying very hard to make fitness it's own "thing", not something I fit in here and there.
Better luck tomorrow!

I don't know if today is a win or a loss. Thursday is normally a run day for me and I had planned for 8 miles this morning. But I woke up and it's STILL flooding (we got three inches last weekend alone), and my leg hurts and I wanted to sleep another hour, so I did. I can't decide if I win for practicing a little self care or I lose for giving in. Bummer.

oooohhhh...lower caloric intake always takes a few days to get used to! But I bet you'll be fine. I've noticed that when I am engaged at work, I'm less likely to snack, but when I feel bored OR overwhelmed, I start snacking! Today? I was bored. It wasn't good. The only good part about it is that I am aware that I was needlessly snacking and consciously stopped. So I've got that going for me!

I would recommend getting those good, dense protein snacks for the hungry crankies. For me, six almonds helps keep my starvation reaction at bay and helps assuage the hungry/crankies.

Even though I haven't made dinner yet, I'm going to call today a tie. Great workout at the gym, totally kept my heart rate up and went the extra mile, buuuuut I snacked at school today. Still have work to do, but at least I'm not sitting on my butt after work, right?

The marathon was awesome! Such an incredible feeling of accomplishment. As I was training, I swore I'd never do another. But of course, as soon as I crossed the finish line, I thought, "When can we go again!?"

It is amazing what a difference tracking makes. I find that if I plan in the morning and track all the healthy things in healthy portions that I plan to eat, I do pretty well sticking to that and don't go over my range. Nice work making a small, manageable goal!

I untethered my fitness tracking from my nutrition tracking today. So it will be my first day eating within a reduced calorie range to try to lose these last 15. I expect to be very grumpy and very hungry. Wish me luck!

Yeay you!!! How did the marathon go? I ran the Chicago marathon years ago and was so proud of myself for finishing!!!

My plan for losing ten pounds by September 1st has changed but it's solid so far. While ten is the ultimate number, right now, I'm really more interested in healthy habits. I've challenged myself to be physically active for at least 30 minutes per day for 27 of the 31 days of August. Basically I want to get my heart rate up every day but save one rest day per week. So far, I'm 9 of 10 days! I actually didn't take my "rest" day this past week. I know that if I can be active six days a week for the entire month, at least a few pounds are bound to come off - especially since last month I was active about six days TOTAL.

As for my nutrition, my goal is to drink enough water every day and to track all my food. I can already tell that the simple act of recording all my food is helping - and not in the sense of "I'll have to record that later", but more of an awareness of how much food I need to eat to be full. Last night my handsome husband smoked some ribs and usually I would have gone all in on them, but instead, I took what I knew would fill me up and stopped.

Lucky you for getting a vacation in this summer! How are you doing on your goal to lose 10 pounds by September 1? What have you been doing to achieve that goal?

I had a major win by running a marathon two weeks ago! But my nutrition has been a draw because I can't eat like I'm training for a marathon anymore, but no one has told my stomach that yet. :(

Greetings all! I've been on vacation for the past few weeks so, uh, the wagon has been on the other side of the ocean. And really, I don't feel bad about it - I don't want to count calories when I'm surrounded by amazing German food and beverages!!!

But now I'm back to reality. I'm jogging to catch up to the wagon, but I see it!

The last two days have been wins, as I've stayed within my calorie ranges and worked out both days. Today looks like it's going to be another win as well!

My goal is to spend this month working on developing really healthy habits so that when school starts back up next month, I can just maintain my habits and continue my weight loss. My goal is to lose 10 lbs by September 1st.

Wish me luck!!!

I'm calling the last few days a win because I've stayed on track with marathon training and yoga, even though I've really tired lately and have been overwhelmed with work. My food choices have been healthy, although I'm eating a lot more because of my training. I'm trying to stay in my calorie range, but some days are harder than others. I'm actually calling it a win where I go outside of my range, because I'm still making healthy choices and am listening to my body instead of depriving myself when I'm expending a lot of energy. I have a head cold but still took a long walk with my dogs and am planning on lunchtime yoga, so that's a win. I'm hoping to feel better soon!

Today I felt like stepping off the Wagon but I remember that I did that once before and it did not have a happy ending so I give myself a pep talk and pushed and exercised before I got my daughter ready for school . But it was like pulling a tooth, but I came out on top.

I would say the last three days have been ties. Saturday and Sunday I burned some serious calories by not only going for walks, but painting both days. Buuuuut I also ate like it was going out of style. For the most part I stayed either in or near my calorie range, but in other areas (fat, protein and fiber) were totally wacked - too much of some, not nearly enough of others.
Yesterday I did great eating until dinner. I have monthly meetings with the other women in my area who do direct sales (I sell Silpada Jewelry on the side) and we did an appetizer dinner. The cheese and salami were just too delicious to say no to, so...yeah.
But I did pull the remainder of my bushes and plant my front yard garden, so again, the day was a tie.
I got up early this morning and took the pups for a walk and so far have been good food-wise, so let's hope today can be a win!!!

Wow, I am definitely impressed by the gardening. That's my least favorite task! Nice work!

Today was a win for me too! Even though I'm traveling for work, I've stayed on tracked with my marathon training plan and finished 9 miles before work this morning. Food choices were less successful, because road food tends so be so fried and carby. But I made some good professional progress today, so I'm calling it all a win.

Today was a WIN!!!

I got up this morning and went for my walk before I went to work.

Yes, you read that correctly, BEFORE I went to work. That never happens. Pigs are flying somewhere I tell you...

Then after work I got this crazy hair up my bum and decided that the bushes in front of our house needed to go, so I trimmed them back and dug them up. All by my lonesome.

Seriously, I'm a powerhouse today.

The one down part of my day - other than work being crazy stressful (which is not uncommon, so I don't really even count it) is that the two paint colors I picked for our guest room are horrendous. Back to the drawing board for that one. :(

But in the grand scheme of things, AWESOME win for team CO girl today!

Wahoozie!!!

How about you guys? Was today a win, a loss or a tie?

Thanks Aimless AM! I agree - weight loss can't be maintained if I don't enjoy my life sometimes! And yesterday was ROUGH, so I got home and popped open a bottle of wine and enjoyed some - it was soooooooo worth it!
Mr. Handsome (that's my husband) and I play this game at the end of most days, it's win, lose or tie. If the day was a win or a tie, we're OK with it. If we call it a loss, then we look at what we could have done differently to make it a win. Yesterday my I felt like my work day was a loss, BUT my eating habits were a tie. They weren't a win because I definitely could have made better choices, but they weren't a loss either.
Regardless, I think I've put both feet firmly back on the wagon today! :)

I think you've already handled it in the most reasonable way: acknowledge that it happened, recommit yourself, and move on. I've been doing this for more than a year now, and I've made awesome progress, but in large part I've stuck with it because I don't demand strict adherence 100% of the time. I don't even consider it a failure when I slip up because it's all part of the learning process. I know that if I'm going to maintain weight loss after the weight loss part is over, it's going to be because I trained my body and my mind to view healthy living as my default state. At the same time, I know I have to be gentle with myself and enjoy my life first and foremost. That means sometimes I just have to have a lot of sweet pink wine and ice cream. It's all part of the journey!

Greetings all!

So I haven't fallen off the wagon - I feel like I'm starting to step off the wagon though. Anyone ever had that? Wait...don't answer that first question - I guarantee all of us have done this in our weight loss journey.

What I mean is, I'm still dedicated to my plan, but where I was completely disciplined in my first two/three weeks, I'm starting to be a little easier on myself in week 4. I'm not cheating per se - but I'm also not as militant (forgive me, I can't think of a better word) now. For example, last night I broke one of my rules without even thinking about it - I wouldn't call it cheating because I didn't say "I know I shouldn't do this, but I'm going to do it anyway", I just did it without thinking. Then afterwards I thought "doh! Whoops."

So let me get to my point - what has worked for all of you to stop yourself from stepping off the wagon? I'm not beating myself up about it - I know this is a process and I don't expect myself to be perfect - but I do want to be mindful about what I'm doing and make sure that I don't look back in a month and go "oh yeah, I was trying to lose weight...doh! whoops."

Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated. Unless your suggestion is to tatoo my goals on my body. I'm not down with that - as effective as it may be. ;)
