My downfall is defintely having a couple of drinks and snacking at the same time. I love to have chips and dip or some sort of bar food when I have a drink. I do very well during the week but when Friday gets here... I typically choose something low calorie like champagne (still too much sugar) or flavored vodka and soda water which I like. I also have a difficult time being married to a naturally thin man who can eat a burrito the size of my head and still remain the same weight. One of his favorite past times is going out to eat. I bring my breakfast and lunch to work and eat at home for dinner on all nights except Friday and Saturday. Sometimes I stick with the "less than 500 cal" menu and other times I say screw it...I am getting the pizza or wings but I know that I probably shouldn't splurge until I get closer to my weight goal.

Karenann-
The proteins keep you full. I too hate throwing the yolks away so I have taken to buying the cartons of 100% egg whites. I wasn't sure about the taste but They are just fine. And no waste!
My biggest downfall is beer. Sometimes I just want a good cold beer. Have three and there you are at nearly 500 calories!! Ugh!!!

My biggest downfall is wanting to eat green--cutting proteins, eating local foods, etc, but that those affordable, green foods are so high in calories by volume that they don't fill me up. I ate a 1/2 cup rice, 1/2 beans, 1/4 cup salsa, and 1/2 orange for lunch. I was still hungry 20 minutes later, and I was starving by 2, when it was snack time. Egg whites are so much more filling by volume, but throwing the yolks away makes me ashamed of myself. It's so hard to lose weight and consider all of those other factors, too.

Cocktails, for sure. I love a couple of glasses of wine or a nice whiskey on the rocks to unwind. I can do without sweets and eat perfectly the rest of the week, but I'll see that I drank all my calories. :( I'm doing better, though.

Foods: Cheese, I LOVE cheese and lots of it! emoticon

However, my largest obstacle currently is motivation to work out! I have been inactive for so long that its EXTREMELY difficult to get back into that habit.

I love cooking and baking too - sometimes I can make and not indulge. Other times not so much.

Chocolate.

Mid-afternoon, work anxiety, crazies. (And working from home means I have access to all that cooking and baking that I stayed away from earlier in the day with no problem.)

Thinking I don't deserve to take the time to exercise. I have no problem meal planning and sticking with it (except for midafternoon crazies) but exercise is a beast for me especially in this hot summer with no AC.

My main downfall is takeaway and fastfood. After a long day at work when I get home tired the last thing I want to do is figure out what to cook and what is healthy. The worst is when I have to do a food shop on the way home. To counteract it I've been making sure that I do a shop once a week for staples and fresh vegetables. Once I have the food here I will cook, I've learnt a few recipes that will take less than 30 minutes which beats the takeaway : )

Like most of you - I have a number of 'downfalls'. I love anything crunchy and salty - a serving can be an entire big bag of chips. If I'm hormonal I want chocolate. I don't drink coffee but love nothing better than a tall glass of soda on ice. Finally, the kitchen in my office is always brimming with candy and sweet treats that people have brought in - so hard to avoid!

I have a severe lack of motivation, and almost thing the weight will just drop off on it's own somehow! lol

I'm a chef, and after a long day in the kitchen the last thing I want to do is cook! During the week all the meals are planned, but the weekends is a free for all lol.

Oh, and I like a drink to unwind at night... I know if I could drop that habit I'd be on my way ;)

I've got so many downfalls...

To start, I LOVE cooking and baking. I'd much rather research a new recipe, whip it up (along with a great dessert) and indulge than have take out.

I'm a teacher so the lounge is a huge downfall...always something sweet and full of calories in there.

I am a candy addict. I love chocolate/fruity/tangy/sour candy. I love it all (except for those weird circus peanuts- never got a taste for those).

I'm an emotional eater.

However, since these are my obstacles, I also feel tons better (and guilt free) when I'm Sparking. This is my 3rd week back and I'm feeling great! Plus its the summer so no stress from school.

Sweets. If I could get rid of the sugar I'd be fine but I feel like I'm addicted. I have low motivation to exercise but I'm trying to push pass all the reasons I don't want to and remember the reasons why I should.

My biggest downfall is myself. I feel like I'm not worthy to be "the pretty one". My family/relatives would call me fat when I was a small child (starting at around age 5). Looking back at childhood pictures, I was actually a normal-sized girl. On top of being sexually molested as a child, I have a lot of issues to work out. Food has always been my comfort.

I know what I need to do to lose weight, but I don't seem to do it. If I do start a weight loss program, I don't stick with it. I can't seem to break the cycle of self-abuse.

My downfall is being tired and stress. I have a 1 year old who is full of energy and after a long day at work its hard to come home and keep up with him as well as do things around the house. I become stressed easily and no longer care what I eat. Also I find myself having a couple drinks when I get this way which doesn't help my weight.

Well let's see I have a number of pitfalls. The top one is emotional and stress eating at work. I get th littlest anxiety about something and I'm nervously munching on something sweet or salty (and it's not fruit). I hate that about myself.

I've been trying to do mindful meditation wheneve I get these urges. It helps sometimes but I think I just need to practice more at it.

Hi. Just posted an introductory message and thought I'd jump in.

My downfall is boredom and foods that are "convenient". I experience a good amount of rush hour traffic driving home and by the time I get close to home I convince myself its easier go to a drive thru than fix something at home. Oh and I like a good quality beer...so no Miller 64 for me.

I think I have a lot of downfalls.... One being the popular one the weekends. But I think the most frustrating is the inability to stay consistant to any one diet or workout routine. It seems that i am good for about 1.5 to 3 weeks. Then I fall off the wagon and begin to not care or tell myself that i am ok with who I am and my weight. I wish that i could find a way to stay consistant and see the big picture; not just the food choice in front of me or the lack of motivation today.

My biggest downfall is my large family i live with!!!! We all love to eat good and since my change in diet and my decision to lose weight, i have to eat separately. So that means I have to eat smaller portions or just say no to the sweets I love so much. Its working although there are some days I wanted to slip cause it looks soooo good!

2 things: my coworkers constantly wanting to go out for lunch and my love of sleep. Many afternoons I hit the couch for a nap as soon as I get home from work. When I wake up, it takes me a while to snap fully awake, and by that time it's too close to bed time to work out.

I have two downfalls, weekends and the strength training exercises. I too eat differently on the weekends and with my son not getting up for school, I sleep in a bit and dont get my morning biking or walking in as I do during the weekdays. I also noticed in posts candy and chocolate as a weakness. I love both and made a deal that once I get half way to my goal I will allow myself two guilt free candy bars. Two because the first one will go so fast I will have to indulge in the second. I also need to work on getting my strength training in I miss yesterdays and have to make it up today. Good Luck Everyone may our downfalls not get the best of us !

I am soooooo lazy. It takes a tremendous amount of motivation for me to get off my a$$ and be active. Once I do, I remember how much it makes me feel good, but if something sets me off track after a couple days, the laziness returns. I wish I could constantly be motivated. That is the hardest thing for me.

So...we all have different things that impede our weight loss progress. Mine Waterloo is snacking on sweets. After joining Sparkpeople, I realized that I get very few calories from actual meals; way too many of mine come from unhealthy snacks, every single day. I've been working on that, but it's a process. :) What about everyone else? What food/excersise battles do you guys have to fight to stay on track?
