Thanks to both of you for replying. I apologize for not responding sooner, but my internet was down. I have to admit, some equipment is intimidating!! My main goal is to feel stronger, and more toned. I will check to see if they provide a free session with a trainer at the gym, and if not...well I guess I'll be investing in my health right?? Thanks again!

Mary

Marusha- Most gyms will provide one session with a trainer, at no cost, just for this purpose. They want you to get the most out of your visits to keep you renewing your membership, check it out. Can't hurt to ask right?? even if they don't provide this, schedule one session anyway, how much is your health and well-being worth??
Good luck!!

Do you know anyone at the gym who can show you the proper way to use the machines? Some of them are intimidating...at least they are to me!

What are your goals? I might know of some exercises my trainer has given me in the past. Right now I"m focusing on my legs to avoid shin splints.

Hi everyone! I really want to start doing strength training at the gym, but I have to admit, I'm afraid of looking like a total fool! I have NO idea where, or how to start...and getting a trainer is not in my budget right now. Does anyone have any suggestions???
