you can do it! I am a mom of 2.5 yr old twins with Rheumatoid Arthritis.. I started my weight loss journey January 2011 at 202 pounds and am now hovering between 159 and 162 depending on my eating for the week. I was a smoker and couldnt even fast walk a mile and now I can make it 5+ miles running!!! Never thought weight loss was possible before last January but If I can do it, you can too!!!

Welcome to Spark and the Team!

It sounds like you have a lot of stress right now. The best thing about exercise is it's ability to help with stress!

Best wishes as you take these first steps toward reaching your goals!

Hi, so my 1st day here - I'm looking to lose about 20 lbs by my birthday on April 20th, and make myself feel better about me on the way. I had some success with weight loss and keeping it off in early 2010 where I went from 188 to 170 lb in about 3 months with mostly portion control and limiting fat/sugars, walking 1 hour almost every day, and yoga once a week. I had a baby early last year, and am currently only 7 lbs above where I was pre-pregnancy, but far from my final goal of about 140 lbs. The 20 lbs is a start.

I meant to start my walking today, but I never did get to it, and it is bedtime now - I did manage to get the house straightened up, some laundry cleaned, and some errands completed. My goal here is to be back to walking 5k in 45 min, with hopes of doing 10k in the near future. I will get the stroller out tomorrow and see how far my feet take me.

I may be crazy trying to throw all this into my day, as, aside from being home caring for my daughter, I am also dealing with the stress of being laid off and job searching. But I remember how great I felt at accomplishing the little goals of making it to yoga class every week, walking an extra 1/2 mile and still being home within an hour, and just generally feeling better. So to help boost my confidence with the load of stress I have, I need to do this.
