I've never posted to this board, but I'm super excited and I have to share: I've been at a looong plateau for a number of months and was feeling really discouraged about it. But then for Christmas, my BFF gave me a pair of pants that were a size 8. I was really worried about them, because I've never in my adult life fit into single digit sizes. But, miraculously, they fit perfectly! I'm officially down from a size 24 to a size 8. This was so exciting, and such proof that the scale lies. I may not be losing weight right now, but I'm getting stronger and healthier all the time. Such motivation heading into the new year!

Hi Everyone! Day one went well. I'm having fun getting acquainted with the site and what it has to offer. Here's to a great 2nd day. I'm actually looking forward to my workout today- shooting for a 2 mile jog and some yoga.

Ready to let go of this weight!

It's been raining a lot here in california! It makes walking the dog difficult. But right now, it stopped raining, so no excuses I should get out there and go for a dog walk!

Good morning!! Its my second week of weight training and my muscles are still sore pretty often. It took me 3 days to recover from my heavy leg workout and I am about to go at it again tonight after work. Also starting military diet today with a girl I work with. Wish me luck staying on track!

AmandaChase, I have an elliptical for naptime, but if I am trying to squeeze in some extra, I do calisthenics in front of the TV with them. I have three under 6. I can do leg lifts with them, and those ones you do on all fours, and they like to sit on my feet for situps. But I find that even if I spend 25 minutes getting a 10 minute workout in, it really helps set my day right. i turn around and immediately make healthier choices for breakfast, and it carries on!

I'd rather work out in the morning.Five AM my alarm goes off. I'm usually out running no later than 5:30. I've learned to love it... but it takes some time!

Okay so I swear this time I am gonna track everyday and maybe that will keep me on plan... I scheduled a walk in today that should count for something. My friend I am walking with is a faster walker than I am. I feel like a spark cheater, cause I joined this group when I was 10 pounds lighter. Now here I am and I let myself down. I don't see any other recent posts on this board so maybe that means nobody checks it, and I can quietly enter my numbers. yup. I am down 1.5 pounds today. Better get my shoes on. My 4 year old will ride her bike with us. No MORE EXCUSES! Anybody out there up for a challenge?

Haha. my oldest daughter now wants to go on my workouts with me, and while I want to have her see me doing healthy stuff, some times I need that break. Keep Up the great work!

You are doing great..I hope my progress is as good as what you are experiencing. I set a smaller goal than what I truly want to see for accomplishment and motivational reasons. I give up easy if I set my sights to high. I am working on getting at least a 15 minute session in in the morning as well. I'm not a morning person so it will take me a bit to adjust my schedule enought to do it. I am a mother of 2 right now I'm lucky if I get through my morning shower in peace...lol...so I am trying to rearrange my schedule at night to make sure I get my work out in, 8 hours of sleep, and trying to get up 30 minutes early to get a workout in. Wish me luck !!!

I work out a night too. sometimes it is nice, a good way to end the day, other times I have to fight to make sure i can fit it in. I would also love to work out in the morning, but i already get up so early, I don't think I have it in me. :-) But in the end, i am just glad I am doing any workout, at any time!!

Finding that my mood and energy level is up and improving when I workout at night. I seem to be sleeping better as well. I really would like to start working out in the morning as well even if its only 15 minutes or so on the elliptical since I'm stuck to the house in the morning before school with the kids. They are still to young to leave alone for me to take a morning walk or jog. I just can't seem to get myself motivated for the morning workouts, I'm not a morning person at all. I am hoping a week or so more of night time exercising will give me that morning boost to start working out before work.

Slipped for the last couple of days. Went out to eat lunch (and dinner) with coworkers, had long days at work that didn't include as much walking as I normally do, and didn't have time to do any dedicated exercise (went to see a show friday night, birthday party and a screening saturday, went out for drinks with coworkers sunday). Probably should have tried to work out in the mornings. And the scale is definitely reflecting the high-sodium choices I've been making (hoping it's water retention, and not actual gain!). I was doing pretty well, and as of this morning am 2.5 pounds up from 3 days ago. Not acceptable.

Ok, so, today is my first day off from work, and I'm aiming for either a run or a one-hour zumba video. Have some stuff to do for work, and a phone interview at 5 to prepare for. And since I'm at home, I can eat what I choose, which today is cereal, a salad for lunch, maybe salmon for dinner. We'll see how I feel.

Sorry for the long post. I've been slacking the past few days (okay, really the past week or two, but more so the past couple days) and really want to get back on track before this coming week (theatre tech week, which means looooong days of sitting in a dark room, and getting home at midnight. Hopefully.) Hope everyone is having a great day!

Saturday morning, hoping to get a good work out in today. My husband has plans, so I may need to be creative, but I really want to jog/walk. I have started the couch to 5k, and am on week two. I am worried if I don't stay on track I will totally stop. But, any work out is better than no workout. So I will stay positive and find my stride.

Well, I'm training for a duathlon, so I don't think I could exercise any more than I am.

But every time I'm slogging up a trail, I think "this would be easier with 15 less lbs to move". Unfortunately, all that exercise doesn't seem to be making much of an impact.

I just found out my stomach problems are caused by a wheat intolerance, so that will make a big impact on my diet. My mom had to go gluten free several years ago and she lost 15 lbs with that. Maybe it will work for me!

I totally hear you, Jeffscogirl! I've been diligently tracking calories and busting my buns getting more exercise for three weeks now and the scale will not budge. (This morning I might have shaken it a little to make sure, you know, that nothing was broken). Is this what our late thirties are all about? Agh. Where's my metabolism? I think I left it in my twenties :)

Well after last weeks doctors visit. I was needing to loose some 20lbs. My BMI is over the 26 mark. So much for losing anything since the beginning of the year. I actually gained 15lbs. I just need to exercise and no excuses.

Too tired to workout today. My son woke up at 3 am yesterday and I couldn't get back to sleep, and last night my hubby was too "huggy" so I couldn't stretch out well to sleep, so I'll make smart choices for food and rest today so I can bring it all on next training :)

Hey everyone! New to the group and wanted to say hi! I've been up and down on my weight loss journey. Lost a good amount last year but then went back to crummy habits. This year so far I've been making baby steps and just completed my first half marathon (although I limped it the last few miles). So now I'm more motivated than ever to get to my goal weight but more importantly just get toned and feel good in my clothes again! Hoping that tracking things on here and getting involved in forums will help keep me motivated and accountable. Good luck to everyone else :)

I'm back again, only this time I'm estimating my weight. I'm on vacation right now and eating vast quantities of my favorite goodies. I'm looking for a forum where I can post daily about how great I've been eating, how much water, etc, as opposed to losing that .3 since yesterday. I get so focused on the scale instead of the bigger picture, so easily I become discouraged. Today is a new day.

3 weeks down! I just came off the Dr. Oz 3-day Detox Diet. It was three smoothies per day plus supplements and detox bath. I skipped the supplements and the bath. Day 2 was the hardest, but I am proud of myself for sticking with it. Even if there are no medical benefits to detoxing, there was a benefit to me in that I accomplished something and didn't give into my boredom/emotional eating pattern. This morning coming off the diet, I drank a smoothie (because I like them) and ate a few hunks of cheese. I have another smoothie in the fridge at work for a snack, but I do intend to eat a salad or something at lunch. I am giving myself a cheat day on Friday for moms night out!

1 week in the books. It was weigh-in day and I was down 2.3 lbs plus it is that TOM. I've done well with avoiding the candy dishes hiding around the office and even brought the majority of DD's Easter candy (and leftover Christmas candy) into the office so it won't tempt any of us at home. I did eat one single Rolo yesterday and I looked very hard at (but didn't touch) the chocolate in the receptionist's bowl on the way out of the office last night.

Not gonna lie though. I feel hungry all the time. For breakfast, I had leftover mashed cauliflower with garlic and feta. Don't be grossed out by me. It was all I had at work and I was starving. And I'm still hungry. Drinking water now to see if that helps.

Good idea with the dark chocolate!
Personally, I would rather give in a little bit than have an all out binge later, so I will allow myself a little bit of what I'm craving, enough to make the craving go away, and then call it good. I know that doesn't work for everyone, but since I don't make anything completely off limits, it seems to be working so far for me!

Jes is right Jeffscogirl the longer you go without whatever you are craving the weaker the craving will be! Did you make it thru the day? Not that I'm encouraging you to cheat, but if I'm craving chocolate really bad, I will buy the darkest chocolate I can find... like 70+% and have a little piece. It kills the craving and is bitter enough to not want to keep going back for more.

I love your challenge! Good luck with avoiding the cravings, the longer you go without the items you're giving up, the less you'll crave them. I'm right there with you, my apple isn't nearly as satisfying as the junk food I know I have tucked away somewhere! You can do it!

It's Tuesday, which means I'm starting day 3 of my stop-making-crappy-excuses-put-the-chocola
te-down-get-your-buns-off-the-couch-an
d-take-control challenge.

Day one and day two were great - my motivation was high, I felt good about my choices, and I felt great about starting again.

Today? I. Am. Hungry.

I know it's all in my head. I just ate a bag of carrots that has to have filled my stomach. It's just that my stomach isn't used to carrots - it's used to chocolate and bread. It's like getting money for your birthday after years and years of big huge stuffed animal presents. You think you didn't get ANYTHING, when in reality, what you got something much more valuable.

So I am going to go take a lap around the building, drink some water, maybe pop some gum in my mouth (I'm a teacher - there are no students today, so I CAN chew gum), and do everything in my power to make it to lunch without touching my afternoon snack. Intellectually I know I'm not actually hungry - I just ATE! But emotionally, all I want is a little bite (which will turn into half a pound) of chocolate.

Wish me luck!!!

Good Morning everyone. I'm new to the team but thought I would jump right in if that is okay.

It's Monday... Here's to a good week! I'm hoping for some better weather. We had a cold rainy weekend, we even had some sleet yesterday afternoon! I'm sick of it and anxious for Spring!!

Reading thru some of the previous posts to get up to speed:
Jes~ great job finding your motivation.
Harley's Mom ~ each day is a new day, each minute is a new minute. Keep that in mind as you look for your motivation!

I'm both a grazer and a boredom eater. I also have no will power. If it in the house I will eat it. My husband always complains there are no snacks in the house, and I always say: if it isn't in the house I won't be tempted to eat it!

Backing down, is NOT an option!

I reset my goals and exercise plan this week, and so far I am 3/3 on my workouts and getting all caught up on the days I skipped on my fitness challenges! I'm staying on the wagon this time!

hi, today I managed to stick to my goals. No sweets, no more bread after breakfast. I managed to say no to popcorns. I am doing pretty well. But it is only 4 pm and evenings are more difficult. I am sure I can handle it. Have a nice day :) emoticon

I am both a stress and boredom eater, which is a terrible combination and I like everything from sugary foods to salty and fatty foods. Yesterday, I went over my calories by 200-300 calories. In the past, this would have derailed me to the point of giving up. Today is a new day though, and better choices can be made!

Awesome! I love it when I'm able to get outside in the sunshine for lunch. Helps the entire day brighten up!

You OWN the wagon. You can jump back on it at any time.

My mini-victories so far are (1) yesterday I managed to avoid the random candy dishes at the office and the hoard of easter candy around my house; and (2) resisted eating the cheese crackers that Husband was munching in the car this morning.

And yes, it's a bit gross that Husband was eating Cheez-Its for breakfast, but it was a rough morning. I held out for yogurt and steel cut oatmeal at the office though.

Started a new (well, I used to do it back when I was fitter) lifting program this morning, and I ate appropriately all day so far... It feels amazing to be back!

Ran two miles during lunch hour. It felt GOOOD to completely check out of work for a few minutes (okay, 22 minutes) and just let that hour be all about me.

Yesterday I got really lazy with added sugar. Today it's back to it!

Just started back up with Spark People tracking my nutrition and exercise. I used this after having my 2nd baby and it worked great! I hope it works as well for me this time after just having my 3rd almost 7 months ago. I have no excuses now to keep on this extra weight. My first weekly weigh in is tomorrow and I am hoping for some good news. I feel much better already and am starting to enjoy working out again. :)
Reading other posts on this group and seeing everyone succeeding is a great motivator for me!
