Oh, and those oils won't get rid of stretch marks once you already have them. But if you put the on religiously when your skin is expanding (like when pregnant) it will help your skin stretch and prevent you from getting stretch marks.

Almond oil can be bought for $5.99 a bottle at Whole Foods and the bottle lasts over a month. I'd hardly call that expensive, but I guess everyone had different budgets.

Here is the deal with lotions... anything with "mineral oil" is going to sit on your skin, making it feel softer to the touch, but not actually absorbing into the skin. There are lotions out there with natural oils that work. However, lotions often train your skin that it does not need to bring moisture to the surface because there is enough there, therefore actually further drying out your skin.

ive used firming lotion, i used Avons Cellulite cream and i saw a difference in about 3 days i kid you not! it really does work WONDERS, all the oils people speak of are not cheap either and avon has sells all the time not to mention so many other companies are coming out with awesome creams, i used it on my stomach back when i was selling avon and i swear i looked like i actually lost weight, it was amazing, the skin was smooth and flat and delicous lol, also for stretch marks theres a new oil VERY CHEAP, its called Bio Oil, $11.00 you can get it at Walgreens and it works wonders as well! a lady i know is using it on brown spots on her hands and its fading them away, its actually suppose to be very good on strech marks, some of the products DO fade them, trust me they really do! ive used them and i know! Also about the loose skin, the younger you are the less likely you will have loose skin plus the people you usually see with massive amounts left are gastric bypass patients who lost 30 pounds a month, your body needs time to get use to all that loss and it cant when your losing that much, water defiantly helps hydrate and firm your skin, plus eating lots of fruits and veggies, also dont get caught up thinking that insurance pays for skin removal for health reasons, some DO, but MOST will try every trick they can to get out of it, i saw a lady on BIG MEDICINE, that had HUGE HUGE skin EXCESS!!! she had horrible rashes, and just awful amount of skin hanging, i believe they said it was the worst case they had seen and they had to keep begging the insurance company to pay for the surgery because they kept turning her down as so many do! also as u lose weight if u cant afford oils, creams, and such and u want to do the best you can to take care of your skin drink plenty of water, eat fruits high in water and use lotion of any kind all over, a cheap AWESOME lotion that will go along way is the Equate version of Lubriderm Unsented Lotion, i started using it as part of the healing process on my tattoos and found out its an awesome all over lotions, its NOT GREASY, and its EXTREMELY MOSTUIRIZING!

Yeah me too. I spoke to my doctor and she said almond oil works well for stretch marks, it doesn't get rid of them but it does help. So I think that's what I'll just use...it is always in the back of my mind though.

She was almost 24 when she had it, she lost it in about a year, and she stayed at that weight until the 2 year mark, from there she gained 10 lbs back because she was really bad about the working out. She worked out until she was pretty much clear from worry about a blood clot then she cut down a lot. Her working out was limited because she wasnt able to do much in the first place. Now after 2.5 years post surgery she has made an effort to get serious about working out

Do you guys have insurance, My sister had GBS and she was seriously worried about lose skin she ended up losing 140 lbs and doesnt really have to worry about the extra skin--- the only place she does is her stomach from her scar. but if you have insurance and lose a ton of weight its covered by insurance because extra skin can be a health concern.

I've had this worry too, but the trainer told me at the gym that as long as I incorporate regular weight training into my exercise routine the muscle I gain will make sure nothing sags. I'm pretty sure I'll be okay...We're all still very young!

My mother is a Natropath (that means she has a degree in holistic medicine. She says that in your twenties what you need to do is exercise (Duh!). The older your skin gets the more elastic it loses, but we should all be fine.

She also says to chuck out any "firming" lotion because it is a bunch of crap. You should moisturize your skin with either apricot kernel or almond oil. You can find them in the fancy cooking oil part of any health food store for much cheaper than you would in the "health and beauty" section, and it's the same stuff! It soaks into your skin, rather than sitting on top of it like lotions do, and helps hold it all together! Also great on stretch marks!

Thats my problem!! I cant have surgery, some of us cant afford things like that, not only that but I am terrified to go through with plastic surgery, you hear all these horrible stories gone wrong. It would be such a disappointment to lose all this weight you have worked so hard on and then have loose skin. UGH!!! stupid non stretchy skin!

I too am terrified of loose skin! I am 25 so hopefully age is on my side. I would love to be able to feel confident and love my body one day I don't think I could handle a bunch of loose skin, it would be heartbreaking! The only positive is that I have an amazing husband who thinks I'm beautiful no matter what.

Don't let society deem whats beautiful, just know that you are no matter what!

I agree, I would love to actually FEEL attractive for once but I really think both of us will be just fine. Were both young still and like the other user said were not losing weight super fast, I think people that have had things like bypass have a higher chance of extra skin.

There is just always that fear, i mean yea I totally agree, id rather be healthy with loose skin then be over weight and unhealthy... its just I want that image I never have had. and I know that will set me back HUGE if that happens, i think I am worrying about it more than I should, but i've just never been able to wear a bikini or shorts or ANYTHING for that matter and feel comfortable.

I wouldn't worry about the loose skin. Youth, water, exercise, lotion, etc. Unless you are gonna drop a massive amount in a really short time then you will be fine.

I'm a bit worried about it too. I'm 25 and know I have a better chance of avoiding it than someone older but there is always still the chance. BUT you know what, even if I end up with saggy skin at least I will be healthier. With saggy skin and a lower weight I will live longer and be able to do more even if I dont look exactly like I was wanting. I figure extra skin is better than extra weight and a shorter life.

u should be fine. if u are exercising and loosing weight steady and constantly then u should have nothing to worry about. i do know there are laser skin treatments available to tighten skin. it just involves a light, no cutting. but u should be fine without.

I am freaking out about getting loose skin, people are saying "well lose the weight slowly" what if I can't help it?!?!? I'm working out and I am eating right, I don't want to stop that. Then I am thinking, 'well, I am only 22 years old, the skin has to be pretty elastic still'. I just dont know. I don't want to get down to my goal weight and have to worry about gross loose skin everywhere. Does anyone have any ideas other than plastic surgery and not losing weight so fast? Yes I do my strength exercises, yes I put on lotion daily and yes, I drink plenty of water. I shouldn't worry about this now, but I don't want to be setting myself up for a huge disappointment in the end. Any suggestions?
