I just started, but I rewarded myself for great first 2 weeks with a new nail polish. Every month on a diet is a reason to celebrate.
Every 5 kg I'm going to get a new lipstick, eyeshadow or nail polish.
Every 10 kg I'm going to get earings, a ring, a purse.

I rewarded myself with a new pair of winter boots when I reach 20 lbs down, my next goal is another 15 lbs down then I'm thinking of a new purse.

A reward can be anything you wouldn't usually do or buy. So if you reach a goal, even having a treat such as a cheat meal or cheat treat could do the trick and would be inexpensive.

It's never too late to succeed.

I like clothing, purses, shoes, etc., but i have never been too into them and as for hair and nails I always get my nails and hair highlighted no matter what or I get grumpy about how I look. For me something to do home decorating with would be great, I have a ton of pictures and nothing to display them in so thats one thing. Another biggie is stuff for my kitchen, I want to throw out my "cheapie starter dishes and pans" but I cant afford those at the moment, getting a blender too would be great! Stuff to spoil my kitten with would be great too, I see so many things she would love and I could keep her happy with that are pricey. The other thing is getting a Demy reader, for those that dont know what that is, its a kitchen safe, recipe reader kinda like a nook or kindle except for recipes. Their about $200.00-$300.00 new but they can store 2,500 recipes and you can download ones that are saved on their recipe site. It would be the best kitchen gadget ever for me!

Before I started my weight loss journey in September i was going to get a tattoo. But when i started i decided to make it one of my rewards. i set a goal and surpassed it by the date i had set. im actually close to the weight loss goal i had set for myself for february 18th. i wanted to lose 32 by then and im already at 30. But I also bought myself a new shirt that doesnt fit me yet. did that on purpose for motivation. not really too sure what size i will be by the end of this so i bought large when i used to buy xl or xxl depending on the brand and comfort. But i just reward myself with little things not food related. i really have only bought myself 2 things since this started. So its about time for something else. my next goal date is coming up so maybe a mani is in order =)

like many of you, I don't want to buy clothes at a higher size then goal weight... unless I have to. Shopping is not a joy for me because I always seem to get stuck on me not being at goal weight yet. I'm working on getting better at that.

In the meantime, I've been spending more money on making sure I'm taking care of myself (hair and brows). I've also been chucking money at my 401k. I figure, it's a better option then buying lots of clothes that I want to throw away in a month.

I just started my weight loss journey so I've only lost a lb. but I've already planned to reward myself with clothes. I love fashion and since I've gained weight I stop trying to look good and just wearing whatever fit. Now I can't wait to shop again and wear things because I like them not because they fit!

I put a sticker on my calender for everyday that I work out. Sounds stupid and simple but when you get to the end of the month and see how much progress you've made... nothing beats that feeling.

I give myself 1 cheat day. During the cheat day, I have the option of having an extra snack, not working out, and I usually have a alcoholic beverage or two. I usually don't bank on my cheat day because I feel guilty!

Hmm, well not sure how or what to reward myself with when I get there to my mini goals. But reading all your wonderful ideas, gives me some ideas. All my weight gain is due to having 3 kids, so got to focus. I would love to lose my first 10 lb, 20 lb, and more. Would make me feel so much better about myself. Good luck everyone.

Well, for myself I just hit my first goal number, and treated myself to dying my hair. When I hit my next one at 260, I'm going to get my eyebrows done and I bought some awesome nail polish strips that I'm going to put on. Not sure what I'm going to do at 250 or 240, but I think when I hit 230 I'm treating myself to these body wraps that shed inches.

I actually just officially hit my 10lb small goal on Sunday and finally rewarded myself today with a mani/pedi. I feel excellent today!! It's amazing how a small reward can boost your motivation and morale.

On to my 15lb goal - getting my hair highlighted!!!

I haven't decided on any other small rewards yet. I've just been putting off these "me" moments for so long I figured it would be a good excuse to do it! hehe.

To reward myself for the little mini goals I make I'm going to give myself something to remind me of that goal. When I don't drink soda or one week I'm going to get me a shirt with a soda brand on it. Every time I lose a few pounds I'm going to get me a key chain that reminds me of how much I lost ( I drive a ton so its something that I would see alot). I'm going to reward myself when I stick with working out every day for a week for 2 weeks with a new pair of yoga pants.

I reward myself with a new shirt or going through the closet and picking one that I wore when I was mush larger and get ride of it. I don't spend a whole lot just a little because my goal is to loose weight. I also have a dress that I put out in plain sight so when I wake up every morning I see it and I tell myself I am going to be back in it.

not with food, having a cheat day is like an alcoholic "just having one drink" or a drug addict getting a day to get high. I treat myself with a long good look in the mirror and looking at previous picture :)

I have been trying to save money and pay off some of my debt so I haven't really been doing my normal "pampering". I am 1 pound away from the 10lb mark so I think when I hit the 10lb mark I am going to get a mani/pedi. Then when I hit 15lbs I am going to splurge on getting my hair done (highlights/lowlights). It's been 6 months since I've had it done and I am in desperate need of it. I figured i've gone this long so to use it as a reward would be great.

Let's hope the 15lb mark comes quickly lol.

I am rewarding myself with toys. I have a bike and have been wanting to deck it out for street riding for a while. My first reward will be a bike basket. Then I'm going to get myself a yoga kit. I'll eventually get a new bikini and then NEW CLOTHES!!! My most exciting reward though will be a Nike Fuel Band. I love them!

If....no when I lose the weight I want to I will treat myself to a new wardrobe because losing all this weight I will need it. Through out working out I may treat myself with a special treat every now and then when I lose enough weight. Like going to get a really cute pair of shoes or hair accessories that I like along the way to keep me motivated. emoticon

These are very inspirational! I think I will check my budget and figure out what kind of treats to give myself!
For now, I am treating myself to a individual cup of rainbow sherbet that is only 80 calories daily but only if I've stayed right AT my minimum goal! If I go more than 100 calories over my minimum goal, I don't get my sweet treat at the end of the day!

I've got willpower and I'm learning how to use it!

I'm going to do the same. I'm going to throw out all of my bigger clothes as I lose the inches. I don't want any clothes I can fit into just in case I start slipping and gaining weight again. Hopefully that will not be the case. But your clothes always remind you, so if you are getting tighter around the waste, it's a reminder....Good luck to you as well!!

A friend and I are fitness buddies. If either of us quits, we have to pay the other $25...so #1 We don't have a lot of money, and I'm not going to lose some because I quit.....Then we told each other our goals and rewards...When I hit my goal of losing 50lbs, I get to go get a pedicure & a Boudoir Photography Session....at first, I only worked out about once a week, and I was NOT happy with that. I came up with some new plans, and then I found it! The thing that really got me pumped to do...yes I would LOVE to be healthier and feel better in my clothes etc, but for some reason this just pushed me over the edge....Lemonade Cupcakes w/Fresh Raspberry Frosting...now even though there is lemons and raspberries in this homemade-from-scratch-no-preservative-dess
ert...it is NOT HEALTHY! A whole ton of sugar goes into making these! They sound and look SO GOOD though. so..I decided that I have to lose 10lbs to be able to make these and eat 2..then I decided that 10 lbs wouldn't make me happy, and I upped it to 20lbs before I can do that. Yes it's food as a reward, BUT..if I wait for this reward and don't eat the bad stuff now...then that is my time for indulging..I have to do good before I can indulge.

Rhonniema, First I love your goals I don't know about you but i find my Polar very helpful in keeping track of how many calories i burn during workouts. I have a question for you though what is a Nike Fuel band I haven't got a clue but I saw someone post they Loved theirs, I'm sure I can look it up but maybe someone in real life can explain to me what it actually is.

For me, the reward is the confidence that I have gained. I am more motivated to continue the weight loss journey that I have begun, due to the newly gained confidence:)

I reward myself by pampering myself. The whole process can be a major drainage for your body sometimes. Facials, massages, getting your nails or hair done, and wonderful leg/muscle rubs with fancy treatments are always nice...and they make you feel good about yourself. If that's not your thing...you can always try treating yourself with a dessert from SparkRecipes, they're sweet and you're not cheating. Just some ideas.

I plan on treating myself with new clothes as I lose weight, not too often, because I don't want to just end up with even more clothes too big for me.

I just started my journey but I have set up a rewards chart and every 5 pounds lost I'm rewarded, with the bigger rewards being every 10 (so really every 15). These include little things like buying a new shirt, or make up, a tattoo (I have 3 I really want so I am determined to get them!!), a nose piercing, new shoes etc.

I got the idea from watching that tlc show about lottery winners, one of the winners would buy herself a ring when she lost 10 pounds and I thought hey if someone did that for me I could lose weight for sure!

For me, I find it rewarding enough to be dropping the weight... new clothes are a necessity because once the old ones start bagging and sagging they are not wearable for you anymore, donate them (or save them incase you gain again). Food is not a reward. I feel better about myself every day, no extra rewards are necessary.

I have been saying for about 3 months now that I would get a tattoo I've been wanting once I lose 15-20 pounds. I don't like to focus too much on the number though because it depresses me so much that I usually backslide.

I like the idea of rewarding myself for goals that aren't number related like working out for x amount of days/week 3 weeks in a row.

It is hard though when you've used food as a reward for so long. Even since we were little it's been a reward (you get a candy bar for being good in the store).

I've made a list of my monthly goals and the reward I'm going to give myself for reaching that goal. Things like: $ towards stuff from Amazon,a tattoo, clothes, shoes, gym membership, pedi/mani......the rewards get bigger the more goals I meet. I don't want to use food as the reward, I want to learn to eat foods every day that are rewarding and delicious in moderation.

I just bought myself a TON of new clothes for getting under 200lbs...I just actually added it all up, and I've spent a bit over $400 in the past month! (some stuff was bought a little early, because I needed some smaller pants pretty badly, LOL) But all my new pants are 2 sizes smaller than what I was wearing, my bra size went down both a band size AND a cup size, and my shirts went down a size (and the new shirts the cute-sy reward, the others were neccessary)

It seems to be fairly common, but I also reward myself with a pedicure every 10lbs I lose. I have found myself looking at my feet and realizing i need a pedi so I will be a little more motivated to get off my a** and get moving.

this thread is helping me to decide on some more positive rewards, I have been rewarding myself with food that I usually don't get, but I can see that becoming counter-productive if I'm not careful. I absolutely love the feeling of a pedicure, maybe that's a good one.

I used to reward myself with clothing... now that I've dropped some of the weight I wanted to, and am looking at doing 50 lbs before January...I wanted a new system.

My BF is from Puerto Rico, and I thought that ultimately a nice, relaxing trip to PR to see the beaches and his family would be a great motivator to lose weight and look awesome in a swimsuit!

Keeping the traveling theme, I thought that that would be a great way to take little trips around the midwest... I don't have thousands of dollars to travel with, so little trips (ie driving to the Omaha zoo, driving to the Mall of America) could be used as motivators for each pound amount lost!

I have a sticky pads app on my laptop, and put a little reminder in the corner of my homescreen with the different trips... just as a daily reminder of what to look forward to within the next year. :D

So I've just decided that my reward will be NOT holding myself back from my favorite Starbucks drink (grande soy iced caramel latte in the summer). I only get them once or twice a week, but when I crave one I REALLY crave one, and I think if I switch to sugar free syrup it won't be that bad (unless the girl who gives me free caramel drizzle is working).

I also will need to get a ton of new clothes if I finally actually start losing weight, so that will definitely be a reward.

Because your candle burns too bright, well I almost forgot it was twilight

For starting my weight loss journey this week, and losing 3 pounds since Sunday I'm rewarding myself with workout clothes. It's nice to look cute when you're doing something you aren't fond of. I figure I'll toggle back in forth between workout stuff and new kitchen stuff so that I can make all my meals at home.

As of right now I do not have very much money since I haven't been working for 6 months. But my reward is going to the beach or park with my son and feeling great about myself and knowing that I look amazing!

My two-year-old is my cheerleader, I have taught him to say good job. And of course he has the energy to run around with me!

I think that all of the reward ideas that were presented are great. I love to shop, so each time I loss 10lbs I will put $20.00 aside for my shopping spree. Once I meet my weight loss goal of 50lbs, I well then put the $100.00 towards my new wardrobe.

Remember.... No one said that success would be EASY : )

Smoosdream,
I agree about buying something that you just want, and holding off until I've accomplished something.

For example, I found a ring on Etsy that I fell in love with, but I don't have the money to buy. Then I thought, if I put aside a dollar for every pound I lose (which equates to about a dollar or two a week), once I get half of the amount of the ring, I'll buy it. If I wait until I have all the money, I won't buy it for another 8 or so months.

I read somewhere that you aren't supposed to reward yourself for losing pounds, but I think, if I don't workout and eat well, I won't lose weight.
