Those headbands help a lot. I only thought about using them for workouts, because I would use them to keep bangs out of face while cleaning. You don't want to be continually brushing hair out of way, transferring cleaning chemicals to hair, head or face while cleaning. Since it worked well for that and stayed in place while I cleaned (and me cleaning is almost a marathon and includes all day long cleaning and organizing) I figured it will help with my workouts.
For me, the headbands do not work without a low ponytail, but that's from the length of my hair. It is long and sways and moves when I move. If I leave it down, it will move enough that it causes the headband to move. I do not like to use bobby pins or barrettes. Otherwise, I am sure a few could help keep the headband in place.

I have bangs that almost reach my mouth (I need to get them cut back to eye level or let them grow). Most of the time they do not bug me, but during workouts (especially when I am doing Yoga) they can get in the way. I have some of those cloth-like headbands that remind me of a really big pony tail holder. Its just a complete circle of cloth (and somewhat stretchy too). I will put my hair in a pony tail and then put on the headband where it is flat and holding my bangs back. It looks slightly funky because the ends of the bangs will be sticking up, but it keeps them out of my face. The low ponytail is just so while I am being active the long hair doesn't keep moving and loosen the headband.

I bet this type of headband would help with short hair for workouts. I do not know for sure. I refuse to not be able to put my hair in a pony tail. Minimum length I allow my hair to get cut, allows for a pony tail. I do not do pony tails often, but I have to have that option. (in fact, I wear pony tail holders on my wrist , kind of like bracelets, just in case I need to put my hair up for some reason)

Using the small thin headbands should work. i had a short asymmetrical head style (you can see pics on my page) and it was really easy for me handle after a workout. i have thin hair, so it was slick to my head after all the sweating and what not. i am letting it grow out now (profile pic). inhale been using the headbands i mentioned above. it fit around your entire head, light and cute lol. i'm actually ready for my hair to become a little longer so that i can wear it in a ponytail....hahaha. i haven't worn one in about 7 yrs (when i received my first hair cut).

Now my hair is short it's actually an an issue. I can't figure out how to get it up and also do yoga poses since it isn't long enough to go into a top knot like when it was long. I'm planning on getting some headbands and letting it stay down.

I like to do a bun within a octopus clip (which I think is what you call a claw clip).

I do not like the swinging of braids as well during workouts. The claw clip is easy to take out for floor workouts, but I do not leave my hair completely down for the floor. Out of habit, I always have a ponytail holder on my wrist. When I move to the ground, I will do a low and loose ponytail. I do that to prevent my hair from just sprawling across the entire floor and then taking awhile to get back undercontrol to put back in clip.

It sounds very cute and should take very little time to style. I bet if you go to google or pinterest you can find many great ideas. I have set myself to get a hair cut and colouring (blue/black) when I lose 12 pounds. It shall be my first time colouring my hair so I am looking forward to it ^_^.

Yes I did! It's just at my shoulders with one layer a little below my ears and some face framing. The stylist curled it with a flat iron and I wore it in a little spunky ponytail today! I haven't had a first wash yet and I'm a little baffled at how to style it (especially after the gym!). Time to experiment I guess!

Yeah, I'm thinking the same. Like a layer bob that just brushes the shoulders so it can grow out nice. I have curly/wavy hair, so I'm looking for thing that is low maintenance. It's always a gamble though!

I didn't realize how old this topic was :D. How short are you cutting your hair? Mines use to be waist length and I cut it to behind my neck/above the hsoulder (just grabbed scissors and snipped) so it was long enough to still pin back in a short pony tail bob thing. That was a few years ago and the hair is finally reaching my lower back again.

It's funny this post just raised itself from the dead. I'm chopping off my waist-length hair today and I'm nervous about workouts with short-er hair. How will I keep it out of my face? Will it look all flat and gross when I sweat, etc. I'll find out I guess!

I usually just have a braid down the back or have my hair pinned up with a claw clip. Claw clip is usually what I go far because sometimes I get annoyed with a braid during cardio when it swings. The claw clip is also easy to remove when I have to lay down on the ground.

Any ideas for off-the-face hair styles? I'm all about the sock bun:

Any more fun styles? I sometimes do a front bump and a braid down the back.

Any cool headbands/sweatbands/accessories that make working out easier on your hair?
