I use a picture of myself from last October at my sister in laws wedding. I didn't feel fat,I felt like I was ok...but looking at that picture just reminds me that no,I was fat and I'm still over weight.Working out and eating right will not only make me feel better but also make me feel better about myself.

I look up motivational weight loss quotes online and images of women who look how I want my body to look, then I imagine myself reaching my goal.

... Is that weird or normal?

Well, I've struggled with motivation a lot in recent months, thats why I came here. I have set up a reward system for my weight loss, every five pounds I lose I am going to purchase something that I usually wouldn't, or will help me continue working. My first reward is a set of dumbells, followed by a new work out outfit, and then new sneakers. I haven't decided on my last reward, yet, but I am sure I'll think of something!!
I also like to use some friendly competition, I usually work out with my boyfriend and I always try to lead us on our runs, it keeps the running like more of a fun game than a work out!

Hi there,

before working out became a routine it was hard for me to stick with it as well. I usually work out after work in the evening. So I made up all kinds of excuse why I shouldn't go. When I realized that I am making too many excuses, I started to write down on post-its, how I felt after a work out & I put them on the mirror. I also wrote down how I felt when I made excuses and did not go to the gym an put it also on my mirror as well. It showed me that I am feeling way better after a work out than the days I did not work out. Now working out is a routine and I don't need these post-its anymore. - But they were a great help!

Right now I don't have some big motivation but a desire to lose weight and actually commit to it. I feel like I should something though because we have some hard days sometimes. I would use my bf's sister wedding in October but that is too far away. I think I a have been using the 15th of june as a mini motivation because that is when we go bridesmaid dress shopping.

New shoes!? Man I need some new workout shoes BAD. @SHAKESHAFT did you set a goal to reach to get your new shoes or did ya just get theme cause you needed them?

I have a really hard time finding motivation (not just for healthy lifestyle). Anyone have any tips?

Gym buddies are good.

I personally use the disappointment I will feel with myself if I don't do it. I know that I will look in the mirror and see someone who isn't trying to make a change for the better. It gets me through.

That's funny I have the opposite problem...I can stick to exercise but when I lose motivation I slack off with diet! For me working out is successful for two reasons...one is that I do Zumba and I love it because its fun and secondly I do strength training with a trainer...it's the accountability that makes a world of difference. Maybe get a gym buddy?

HELP! I'm only in my first few weeks and my motivation is slowly declining already.... I'm still eating well...but my exersice motivation is going away fast. I really only have time in the morning from about 6:30 - 10 to get it done, and when that time comes the snooze button just seems SO MUCH BETTER.

So I'm wondering... what gets you out there and pushes you to do whatever you do. Not only the motivation of "losing weight" but also maybe some tools that you use? Right now I've got nothin'.
