You can absolutely lost inches without losing weight. In fact, many people (including me) recommend that you take measurements every 4-6 weeks in addition to weighing yourself and doing fitness tests periodically so you can see all the things that you have changed during your journey.

For some visual proof, see the following SP blog that was recently voted a SP blog favorite:

Yes. I did a body wrap at Suddenly Slimmer (Atlanta) for my wedding and I lost inches all over my body without loosing any weight. Body wraps are great and are easy to do at home if you have the right supplies and a really good friend to help you :) Here's a link on how to do body wraps at home : http://www.wikihow.com/Do-a-Home-Body-Wrap

Use the same scale for consistency. Also, weigh the same time of day. Your weight can fluctuate a couple of pounds throughout the day.

As for your actual question, absolutely. It's even normal because you're losing fat and building muscle (a pound is a pound, after all), so that pound of fat was replaced by a pound of muscle. It still weighs the same, but it's more dense than fat (right wording?) so in that same area, you lost inches where the fat used to be. That make sense? I didn't overcomplicate did I?

hi everyone!
i've been at this for about 3 weeks now. i've been trying to stay away from the scale because when i weigh myself on two different scales i weigh differently. and its a big difference. so i dont know which is right. i dont really understand. i start to freak out and feel really bad about myself if i dont like what i see. i guess i kind of have a body image problem. i dont see what others see. to me i feel big but to everyone else they say i am skinny. well anyways, i was wondering if its possible to lose inches without the scale changing. i have been told i look thinner and i bought a dress for a wedding in 2 weeks and its 4 sizes smaller then one a bought in may. but i havent lost weight according to the scale. well today it said i was half a pound lighter then i was last week. so the point of this all over the place post is, is it possible to lose inches without the scale changing? i will add that i watch what i eat and i walk/jog everyday. 2 miles every day.
thank you! :)
