I make a killer white pizza that my boyfriend requests all the time. I made it for my Mom and niece at 4th of July and now they want me to make it again if I go down there Labor Day weekend.
I use a whole wheat crust. The grocery store where I shop at sells the already made dough for $1.00. I have also seen them at Trader's Joe's for the same price.
I take 1 Tablespoon of olive oil and sauté 6 minced garlic cloves till translucent. Then I throw in a 10-12 oz. package of defrosted chopped spinach and cook it. I pat out the pizza dough and even throw it few times, I am getting good at it. I lay it on a pizza pan and spread out the spinach and garlic on top of the dough. No sauce. I then take an 8 oz. shredded mix of mozzarella and provolone package of cheese. Sprinkle that around on the top of the spinach and dough and pop in the oven for about 20 min's. at 400 degrees.
It comes out so good and it tastes so rich with only 8 oz. of cheese because it has shredded provolone in the mix. That makes the difference. It also has plenty of garlic in it too. Sometimes I will add sliced fresh mushrooms (not canned) on top as well.
It makes a big pizza just like a large you order from the pizza place. I cut it into 8 slices. Each slice equals 221 calories. I always serve it with a nice salad and we usually have 2 slices and it is a meal. Way less calories than the pizza parlor, tastes better, and healthier for you.
