Well I'm glad I'm not the only one that can't make heads nor tails out of this. But what I do know is that I'm eating more fruits and veggies than I ever have, I'm drinking more water than I ever have, I'm exercising more and I'm eating a lot more whole grains and making better choices in the choices of meat I eat. I'm taking vitamins and calcium and know that even when I'm not showing a loss on the scale I'm still doing my body a big favor. I think the calories in and calories out work so great for some people ... but when I figure out my resting calorie expenditure and figure out my calories in and exercise out ... it doesn't make sense in my weight loss journey. I think people like us have to play around with our calories. For one whole week up the amount of lower the amount and see what happens. OR play with the carbs and protein ratios and see what happens. One lady said she had to up the amount of fats she was eating. Its all just so crazy!!! Good luck.

That's a problem too. I am not sure how many calories I am actually burning in a day. I walk and Jog on the treadmill for 30 min. and then do weights on either my arms or legs or do an ab work out. The other really weird thing is that I was so hungry last night that I just ate whatever I wanted (Turkey Pita). I was about 300 Cal. over my limit. The scale was 2 pounds lighter this morning. It was 135 instead of 137. This makes no sense to me.

I was surprised to see that as I got closer to my goal weight and increased my exercise even MORE, that my daily caloric needs were higher. Obviously, I know that I need more calories the harder I work out, but I didn't think that it would increase that much once I got closer to my goal. I would think that I just needed to keep doing what I'm doing or even eat slightly LESS in order to lose. Go figure.

I have the same problem. I've cut back and in the last couple of weeks I stayed the same, finally lost 1 lb. This week I'm going back to really cutting back especially since work is so busy I won't get all my exercising in unless I do something every night.

I am going through the same thing. I reduce my calories and never lose any weight. I am going back to the only thing that actually worked for me and that is counting the carbs. If I kept the carb count under 125 a day, I would lose a pound or two every week, the calorie count could go up to 1700 a day or two and I would still lose the pound if my carb count was low. If I went over 125 too many days, I would stay the same.

How many calories are you burning a day?

You know it really doesn't make sense sometimes. I thought I might need to up my calories since I added the exercise recently but that just seems odd. I will try that though. Thanks for your response.

To lose a pound a week you have to have a 500 cal deficit each day. It doesn't matter if its from lower calories or from exercise that burns the calories. I was eating 1200 cals a day and exercising like crazy and couldn't lose an ounce. Yes I drank my water too. When I upped my calories to 1400-1500 and kept the exercise the same I lost. Sometimes it just makes no sense!!!

So I have been bouncing back and forth between 137 and 135 for way too long now. I want to get to 120 but am frustrated. I recently started an exercise program and stay at 1500 Cal. a day. I have heard that it is not recommended to go under that amount. I figured out my resting Calorie Expenditure (how many calories your body uses if you do nothing but sit all day) and it said that to maintain my weight I need to eat 1368 cal. a day. So, obviously I would need to go lower than that to start to lose weight again. Right? I have seen that some people only eat 1200 Cal. a day. Is this safe? Also, I tried to go from 1500 to 1200 Cal. today and I am so hungry I feel sick.
