Hi Everyone, I am new to the team, I cant waite to try some new recipes. I get bored with the ones I have right now. So it is time, for a change. I have started eating some raw things, not alot yet, still half and half. but want to expand things.
Thanks for letting me in the team.

Lizzie, the steel cut oats are less processed, so they supposedly don't cause your blood sugar to spike as much. I started eating them when I was trying to do the "Zone" diet. They seem to fill me up so much more than other oats and I love the way they taste. I also stir in some wheat germ and ground flax seeds, a tsp. of brown sugar and a tiny bit of milk. It's also good with raisins added.
My grocery store has them in the health food aisle made by Bob's Red Mill and I've also seen them in some stores by the regular oats. Quaker makes them now too so they are getting easier to find.
I've never tried the crockpot version - this just seemed easier and has worked really well for us.

That waffle with yogurt on top sounds really good. I never thought of doing that. We've been making steel cut oats. I found an online tip for making them overnight while you sleep. You add 1 c. of steel cut oats to 4 c. of water and bring to a boil, then cover with a lid and take off the heat. When you wake up in the morning either heat the pan back up to boiling or if you just want one bowl scoop it out and microwave it. It's really yummy - my 3 year old wants it every morning.

Sometimes I don't have much time in the morning, so I make a smoothie. 1/2 cup fruit, 1/2 cup fruit juice, 1/2 cup yogurt. Throw it in a blender, and when it is somewhat smooth, pour into a glass. You can also add wheat germ to it - about a tbsp.

Thankful for the Lord Jesus Christ coming into my life and changing me!

I may have to try those pancakes, I really really watch calories and I LOVE breakfast foods, but rarely, rarely ever eat them, especially in a restaurant because of the extra butter, frying, and ridiculous amount of calories, and pancakes sound amazing...i'll have to try it topped with some fat-free redi whip

I tried something new that I found on another team. Put one slice of Canadian bacon in the bottom of a small ramekin. Crack an egg and put on top of bacon. Sprinkle with a little salt and pepper and a small amount of parmesan cheese. Bake in a 350 for about 15 minutes. It was great.

Hey me again! lol. I found a recipe on another members sparkpage and it sounds so so so yummy! I think I'll make it Monday for breakfast but I wanted to share.

100 calorie Pancakes

1 1/4c whole wheat flour
1tsp baking soda
2 tblsp Splenda (or other no calorie sweetner)
1c skim milk
1/2c egg beaters
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 tblsp cinnamon

Mix dry ingredients in one bowl. mix wet ingredients in another bowl. Beat wet into dry and mix roughly. Serving size is 1/3c of batter. Use Pam on skillet when cooking and sweeten with sugar free syrup or fruit.

Sounds good huh? Yum.

New to the team and eager to try some of the recipes I've seen. I thought I'd share this recipe that a dietician gave me. It's such a yummy breakfast that I eat when I want something sweet and satisfying. Two Van's 97% Fat Free waffles topped with a container of Dannon, Light & Fit Carb & Sugar Control Vanilla Cream Yogurt and a CUP of cut up strawberries. Sounds a little weird, I know. But you don't need butter or syrup. Tastes like a strawberry shortcake! (approx. 250 cal., 7 grams fiber, 11 grams protein)
