Did 7,000 steps yesterday. Another travel day today but will try to get in at least 5,000 every day. Aiming for 10,000 eventually. Life does get in the way sometimes but raising my average each week means progress.

I got out for 3.5 miles run/walk intervals even though I had planned on not doing any exercise today. It felt good to overcome my inertia!

I am the type that will take a walk in the snow, cold but when its blowing thats when I have a hard time with it. I have enough work to get done in the house before it does get to nice out. I want it done so I can enjoy my time outside.

Yes, but at least you don't get wet or slip on the ice when you're on the treadmill. It is boring though. Can't wait until the weather is really nice so I can get outside more often. Meanwhile, I continue treading.

I love my fitbit. It tells me how active I am, how many steps I've taken, how many calories I should eat based on my physical activity. It syncs real well with Sp. The only downsize is if you sync foos to fitbit from Sp, it sends everything over again so u have to go in and delete stuff. I am eating more than I should but I'm getting better. Weigh in tomorrow. last week scale was up 2 pounds but I had a lot of sodium the day before. Tomorrow hopefully I will be down something.

BEESPARKLE - I love your name because BEE is my knickname (actually BJ for Barbara Jeanne, but my husband shortened it even more to B). Sciatica is tough but can be controlled. Good luck with it. I didn't break my hip - it's osteoarthritis and was getting worse and worse. Finally, gave in to replacement and so glad I did. On vacatioin now and walked 2 hours yesterday. Was exhausted. Legs were sore, but hip was great - no pain. Hang in there. We can all do this together.

SPARKBJOK Smart gal. I dont have those exercise equipment you mentioned.
Have down sized hubby and I as we are retired. So smaller place. Know stairs.
So I do dvd's. What I am able with having sciatic . As sciatic is not reversible.
I exercise in beginning of week till Monday to Thur. Weigh in for me is Sat. Doctor said never
exercise the day before weigh in. So this time I did not and I loss 2 pounds. When I did
exercise the day before. I gained. Muscles weighs and two pound then..
How did you break a hip? Ouch! That is painful.
A lady I know she tripped over her own feet. Broke her hip.
Of course she was rushing to the other room in her house and then said oh I forgot to get that
from the bedroom she left. She went down and broke it Hip breaks first the doctor said then you
fall.. Lucky for her she had her cellphone in her
pocket and was able to call 911 in Canada. . Now she carries it in he pocket to every room. Plus
she has hid house key outside.
As she said lucky her door was open for the Emergency team to get in. They told her to hide the
key so they can get it if she can't get to the door.Or they would have to break down the door.

Having just had a hip replacemenet, I'm taking it slow with walking - and never walk when there's ice and snow. But there are always malls or treadmills - just to get through the winter.

Two of my friends broke hips another her leg. Shoveling snow and two other ladies just out in the ice and one in a shopping mall. So all gals held up for 6 to 8 weeks.
That keeps me in the house when it is icy and snowing.
One said you let the snow have some snow on top not to chip ice down to the bare ground when shoveling. So you have some substance to walk on so you dont slip.
So be careful you don't break anything. You that shovel.
On the news it said today. That women have the thinner hip bones then men and they are harder to heal. Women break the hips more. They have smaller hip bones them man inside.
It showed a hip replacement on a lady. It looked awful.
It looked like those swivel kitchen chairs in the 80's where it has the ball roller on the legs.
That is what looks like in the replacement hips. Yikes and they said once you have a hip replacement
Be careful do not push your exercise time or you will be having a second operation.
My friend got to her 8 week and then she went out. Trying to pull the door close in her van. Out
she fell and she was bruised inside . For another five weeks.
Women are the weaker sex when it comes to broken bones.
I have been exercising four times a week but now my third week. I feel my hip bones. Real sore. Right and left.
So down to 3 times now for me. I think I was pushing too hard. Plus wear and tear of our bones in all. Being in your 50's,60's to 70 odd. We are not spring chickens.
How many athletes have hip replacements. Even on news today. That lady Gug,gu who shakes and looks like and hour glass wrote her fans on twitter today she is going in for a hip replacement. And an Athlete on news today as well.

2 hours scraping snow and ice from yesterday.
I was watching TV and our neighbours decided to hand shovel the driveway. They had no idea how much snow was left and this morning it was ice. I used my scoop and the garden spade to get it off. I do not want anyone to fall down out there DH and I included. I did ask them not to do it but they were feeling sorry for me and they did it. Now it is perfectly dry. Once again they are saying freezing rain. we shall see. Pat in Maine.

I snow blowered the very large back driveway we had 20 inches of blizzard snow so the drifts were slow going, and heavy work. It was fun to do but DH missed it. He had recent hip surgery so it is all up to me for just a while Pat in Maine.
