Been inside happily exercising, cleaning and mending. So glad I had nothing to go out for til Wed. Every time I open door to let Chi Chi out, I choke up a little from heat and humidity except early morning.
Take good care of yourselves!

Hope you're all having a great weekend. Hot and humid here today and will be hotter tomorrow. Guess summer has started early!

Did you read in the Health News from May 17 update article that raising good cholesterol may not prevent heart attacks and strokes? I went back to save it to tweet but too late, couldn't access.
I read somewhere I can't remember that the drug industry's using an out-of-date study to medicate when we need new studies to treat us more effectively. I'm all for that.

Hi Everyone,
My dr. took me off all my chol. meds last month because my blood sugars were running high. Has any one heard of that? The dr. said there is some studies now that say chol. meds increase blood sugars. So, I am off the meds and my BS went down about 20 points. I have not changed anything. But, I would like to eat grapefruits, so I have started to watch a little more what I eat and trying to exercise more. I really don't want to go back on them. My one chol. med, I could not eat grapefruits, and I love them. So, I am enjoying while I can, just in case.
As for Dr.'s giving results, they have to. I would not and don't leave until I have them in hand. Ok, sorry, I am a little stubborn (just ask my 17 year old son). If I want them and the dr. does not want to give them to me directly, I would have to switch drs. I want someone who will work with me. That means giving me results, so I can see them at home and encourage myself to make them better next time. I have really enjoyed seeing them and comparing them to old results. Being able to see that I have done better, works wonders for ME!! LOL
But again, I am picky about the drs I see. Just remember, just because they are a dr., that does not mean that they have your best interest at heart. Find one that wants to help you reach your goals and listens to you!!! I like who I see now, and it works great.
Hope you all have a great day!!!
Blessings are coming your way!! Rhonda

My doctor always gives me a copy of my lab work right after we discuss the results. She was the first one to ask me if I wanted a copy.

At my weight loss clinic, i always ask for a copy of my lab work and get it sent in the mail. I don't think it's an automatic mailing, but when i ask, i always get it. I do keep a file to be able to compare to previous results. While it's not always encouraging on the cholesterol front, I do like having a record of the total results so i can make sure other readings are not getting out of whack

My GP says sure and then avoids me, but she sends a copy to my psychiatrist who says sure and makes a copy right off. I love that. They're legally not supposed to withhold them. Maybe you could go into the office and get one of the workers to make a copy.

My doc has always given me a copy of my lab work. I like to have them for just the reason you said....to compare from year to year. I would ask again - they're your results.

My PCP would not give me a copy of my labs on Thursday (lipid panel), when I asked for a copy, she looked at me very funny. Isn't it normal to get a copy of your lab results, so you can follow your own progress?

Levels were still up despite the exercise - bound and determined to get off the statins. I have added pistachios and pumpkin seeds to my daily snack pool. Take a frozen fish oil each AM and on advice from Dr have also added two tablets of Red Yeast daily - Goal - I'm gonna beat you - you pesty cholesterol

It been a few months since I gave in to the dr and started on the statin - in addition to that I am taking my supplements which has an Omega/Krill Oil gel cap as part of the package. I have also added another supplement from the same company that is supposed to help lower the LDL . I am going to do blood work in the next week - not sure when I have a dr appt for the results - I am confident the numbers will be good and then be able to get off the statin....

Well my cholesterol levels were down in most areas except lipids. The doctor believes that I still could use some help in getting the numbers in balance given my family history, so she has put me on a cholesterol lowering medication. Everything else was good news at the visit.

My cholesterol levels were down at my last visit. The weight really isn't coming down yet. Though part of it is due to the hormonal birth control shot depo-provera that I had been on since August 2011 and last shot was Jan 2012.
