ok--as a diabetic, I allowed fat, meat, and watch the carbs

as watching my cholesterol, I'm to eat the carbs? what gives?

I am really working to get my cholesterol down before I go to the doctor. I'm not on medication and I don't want to be. I've added cardio exercises to my workout and go to water aerobics. I'm eating a lot better more fiber and whole wheat. We will see when I go back in October. Last time it was 190 for the bad the good was great.

hi from Arkansas , and my cholesterol is now under control emoticon i just started eating alot of oats, when i went back to the doctor she took me off of it. then the office got a new doctor and lowandbehold he put me back on it. when i did my blood work they told me it was under 200,, i am kinda confused emoticon

I just started back with Spark today!! I need encouragement! I had thyroid cancer and it was removed in 1984 and I have had high cholesterol pretty much since then but I really want to get it under control and also lose weight in a healthy way! I started exercising today and journaling what I eat too. Thanks for support!

I have rejoined SparkPeople because of bad blood readings - A1c and Cholesterol, bad, good & Tri - all out of wack.I am allergic to statins, but still brought all of this under control in 2010 (and have eaten healthy ever since) yet I had by-pass surgery in 2011 and in 2012 had an allergic reaction to a thyroid medicine and gained 30 pounds and have been there since. Last June my cardioligist said there wasn't much I could do about the triglicerides - it was my genes. I have a new primary and have an appointment next week - I will be looking for a new cardiologist. Since returning 3/27 - I have lost 5 pounds,

I am eating the leftovers from juicing this morning carrot, tangerine and apple pulp with oatmeal. Just a different way of getting roughage .

I really enjoy oatmeal, and it is also good for lowering Blood Sugar. I use the Old Fashioned Oats with Spenda. I need to try them with Stevia.

Eat grapefruit if you like it, now before you are on drugs . It is good for cholesterol but reacts to some drugs, oatmeal, buckwheat. Also good for cleaning out the colesteral

Oatmeal is also a diuretic! Which is great if you have a water problem like I do

cholesterol! I an doing all I can to minimize my cholesterol. beans and other fibers help me. I have found that coconut oil is actually good for me!

I think you're doing really well! If I had to cope with all those things I don't know if I would do as well as you are doing! You might feel like you're slacking but you "keep on truckin'" and focusing on what you CAN do. Good for you!

If you can't go to the gym, get some canned vegetables or laundry detergent bottles and exercise your arms at home to you favorite up beat songs. Music makes everything easier!

hello everyone. I have been slacking with the dieting which made all the progress i have made with my cholesterol go down. I was so close to my goal and between getting divorced and not knowing anyone in New jersey it has been hard. i never realized how much i would miss my family and it would affect me health wise. My boyfriend is starting to diet on his own without sparkpeople and i want to diet with him but staying on spark. I tried to start yesterday which i did better than usual but It did not go well. I had half a can of soda and some snacks i was not suppose to have and went over my calories. I know i really need motivation right now. I cant really go to the gym but i am going tomorrow if my leg does not bother me. I ended up spraining my leg and i am not suppose to be walking on it. I know it is not healed but i am going to gym for my arms.

I eat oatmeal every morning for breakfast. I switched to Egg Beaters instead of regular eggs and it saves calories and they have no cholesterol.

I had my blood taken last weekend. Cardiologist called me Monday morning -- he needs to see me ASAP. My appointment is on Saturday at 2:30pm. I already know what is coming -- I've always had high cholesterol...He probably fainted when he saw the numbers...

Sinvastatin here I come.

The cook gave us a taste of asparagus last night and we both liked it . neither of us would have said we liked it but we did. We thought it was green beans .
