Hang in there. I know how you feel. Sometimes I feel like I'm trying to eat so healthy to get my cholesterol down and nothing helps. It was down somewhat but still a bit high. I really need to work on this before I see the doctor in February. I'm eating low fat, fiber, etc. What else can I do? Any suggestions will be welcomed.

I'm so frustrated. I want to go to a dietitian and my doctor will send an order to the hospital but I have to check with insurance. Who said they'd pay all of it but have to check with Medicare first to see if they pay. Called them and they don't pay, but my insurance called through while I was on with Med. Called insurance back, no record that anyone tried to call. Called back later to see if any record and asked same question of that guy and he was so confusing that I just told the doctor's office to forget it. Nurse said to google diabetes diet and follow that.

I want someone I can talk to and get answers and being a picky eater what tips they have. I don't think my DH is fond of the idea thinks we'll have to pay big bucks in the end.

I feel like just going back to my old way of eating....craving chocolate now. I've had a bowl of cereal and small tub of diced peaches no sugar added today. Not sure what to do for supper. I have been tracking and cholesterol has been in range, but calories, protein and fiber have all been under.

I go to the doctor on Friday and am hoping my cholesterol is good. Been exercising and eating a lot of vegetables and fiber. Hopefully, I'm good. I'll let you know. Good Lock SparkBJok when you go to the doctor.

My cholesterol was up last check but getting more exercise and eating lots of vegetables. So hope my June blood tests show improvement.

I have been watching what I eat, eating more fiber and exercising. This week I gained 1 1/2 pounds which is a bit discouraging. I go back to the doctor in May and hope my cholesterol is down. I'm not sure what I did wrong this week. I feel great, have energy, my clothes seem bigger, just don't have a clue this week. Oh well, I'll see what next week brings.

So far I'm thinking I'm doing well. I'm eating more fiber and really watching everything else I eat. I do love cheese though and am trying not to eat so much of it. I go back to the doctor in May and we will see what happens. Hope everyone is having a great week.

I am also trying to keep my cholesterol down to avoid meds,the doc told me omega 3 exercise,and watch fat intake.I found it helpful also to see a dietician ,which is covered by our health care here in Canada.Metamucil is good if you don't get enough fibre.Reading labels on your food regarding fat percentage also helps.Read up about lowering cholesterol and if you follow it ,it will work.Your Doc can also do a test to see if your cholesterol is something that runs in your family .Rambling on so hope some of this helps.

I was at the doctor today and my bad cholesterol was up a bit. It was 110 and my good cholesterol was 44. I'm not sure what I should be eating to get it my bad cholesterol down again. I've been exercising and trying to eat right. Would eating more fiber help? Any suggestions, I'm confused. I've been on this team for awhile but have not posted much. Thanks.

A desirable level of HDL is 60 or higher,levels less than 50 for women,and 40 for men increase the risk of heart disease....A desirable level of LDL (bad cholesterol) is less than 100,the lower your LDL is,the better.....Sharyn This information comes from Dr.Weil,MD.

Hi Everyone. I am trying to get to the skinny about cholesterol test values. I found out the hdl should be no more than 30 diff from the ldl. I think it's good to know because it might calm the jitters from the resulting total cholesterol. I am going to have a shake a day and follow this discussion. I am praying for everyone's results to get to the range of healthy. I am also praying for your support. Thanks all. Love this group.

Hi everyone! I am going to be attached to this forum with both fists. I had my Dr appt on Monday, and Tuesday found out my total cholesterol was up to 361, the last test was October 2013, at 228 total!! I have been losing weight since July of 2014, but evidently not doing it right. Today I went to the store and bought almond milk, low fat yogurt and fruit and will begin making a smoothie a day. I look forward to reading your success stories- and thanks for the forum.

If you're tired of starting over, never give up.

I am really working to get my cholesterol down before I go to the doctor. I'm not on medication and I don't want to be. I've added cardio exercises to my workout and go to water aerobics. I'm eating a lot better more fiber and whole wheat. We will see when I go back in October. Last time it was 190 for the bad the good was great.

hi from Arkansas , and my cholesterol is now under control emoticon i just started eating alot of oats, when i went back to the doctor she took me off of it. then the office got a new doctor and lowandbehold he put me back on it. when i did my blood work they told me it was under 200,, i am kinda confused emoticon

I just started back with Spark today!! I need encouragement! I had thyroid cancer and it was removed in 1984 and I have had high cholesterol pretty much since then but I really want to get it under control and also lose weight in a healthy way! I have rejoined SparkPeople because of bad blood readings - A1c and Cholesterol, bad, good & Tri - all out of wack.I am allergic to statins, but still brought all of this under control in 2010 (and have eaten healthy ever since) yet I had by-pass surgery in 2011 and in 2012 had an allergic reaction to a thyroid medicine and gained 30 pounds and have been there since. Last June my cardioligist said there wasn't much I could do about the triglicerides - it was my genes. I have a new primary and have an appointment next week - I will be looking for a new cardiologist. Since returning 3/27 - I have lost 5 pounds,
