Hi Jtracy,
Mine is in the middle high. I drink 1 per day Promise Active. I take a garlic OTC pill and fish oil 1 per day. This is (I hope) helping me. It feels like it is. I havn't been back to the doctor to get it checked yet. I havn't any Insurance so It will be awhile before I do.

I beleive I am doing good though. It has been since March this year that I started trying to get it lowered. I eat Cheerios too, and it does work. My Cholesterol is: HDL = 231 & LDL = 144
Now I don't know what that means, but This is my readings from this past March.
Doing what works for you in the long run, is best. Take all helpful hints here into consideration and use what eventually works for you.

I also have have high cholesterol -- I am on ten milligrams of liptior didn't really want to go on it felt I was too young. I can tell you working out and watching my fats help. when I slack off on the workouts sure enough the count goes up not much but it goes up. Enjoy nuts and chocolate in moderation. Planter peanuts has a whole line of healthy nuts.(Doesn't sound right...lol) try them .

Cheese and eggs are also in moderation , I switched to low fat Alpine lace swiss and egg whites.

Hi, I'm also new to Spark. My friend signed me up because my cholesterol is 250+ and I'm only 21 years old. I just found out a few days ago and I'm not sure how to lower it before I get stuck on medication.
My main questions are that my doctor told me to limit my nut intake, but I've been told that almonds can help and want to know how many I can eat. Also, how much chocolate is too much?

might want to add ... that you really do need exercise. At least 30 minutes a day, doesn't have to be all at one time, you can do 10 here, 10 there and before you know it you are meeting your goals. Along with all the dietary things, the exercise is really important, especially if your blood sugar #'s are up there too.

Hi and welcome to the team.
Exercise, eat flaxseeds, oatmeal, nuts, beans, lots of fruit and veggies. Add lemon juice to your water. Avoid animal products and transfats.

Welcome. I eat only chicken and pork no red meat well once in a blue moon or two beef , no fried foods try to eat lots of fruit and veggie and mostly exercise.

Trying to eat healthy exercise daily, slow down my pace in life think positive and all in all get in Better Shape and Keep Heart healthy and enjoy the life God has given me.

I just started Sparks yesterday and am trying to get started with a new healthier lifestyle!!! I have been reading your posts and find a lot of inspiration - Just what I need!!! My cholesterol is up there - I just can't even remember the # - too high no matter what it is!! So.... where do I start? What do you suggest?
