I started the belly fat cure on saturday and staying away from FB is a lot easier than doing this diet you're only allowed 15 grams of sugar a day and 6 servings of carbs a day. The first 3 days were good with the sugars and carbs but i overloaded on sugar yesterday i think i had over 50 grams of sugar. Thankfully this is a library book so this diet might last until i have to return the book but I have lost 1 inch from my belly so far.

I'm not as sore as I used to be after all the walking I do in the morning plus i still walk to the school to pick her up and walk her home not sure if that's gonna happen today as my grandpas in the hospital with pneumonia he had us drive him there last night.

Great job with Facebook!

Something has GOT to turn up for you, job-wise. I was out of work for 14 months after I was laid off and then took a 25% pay cut, so I know it's really tough out there.

Way to go with the walking! emoticon

Got on Fb only once so far and have had no craving to go back

at least your starting to adjust. I'm still jobless i applied at one of the wendy's near me but still not hearing anything from anyone.

The July's sci-i/fantasy/anime convention sounds like fun.

I ended up walking for over an hour yesterday morning and today with my walking buddies emoticon

Good job staying away from FB!

All I have to report is that I'm still exhausted from my new job, the strain is worse on my knee and foot, but I'm still hanging in there. The last day or so I haven't felt quite as exhausted, so I hope I'm starting to adjust a bit.

I'm thinking about next July's sci-i/fantasy/anime convention already. The theme is "Tomorrow Through the Past." Sounds like Steampunk to me! I'm thinking about the costume I want for me and the costume for my rollenator. I want my rollenator to appear to be steam-powered, and my unofficially adopted son is eager to help design pistons for the wheels that move with the rollenator. He might come with my son and I next year, because (a) it is steampunk and (b) more and more of his friends go to this convention.

I'm finding it's more fun to create costumes for the rollenator than for me. I suppose it's the novelty, the challenge, and the fact that the rollenator isn't old and fat. I LIKE the idea of turning a necessity into an accessory!

I stopped going on FB on the 24th so today is day 4 and i've noticed I feel less anxious and stressed.

Walked for 90 minutes this morning with my one exercise buddy. emoticon emoticon going be doing the same tomorrow but there might be one more person.

with so many advances in medical and science we should be able to do something about your foot area.

I really hope that things will feel better for your foot. Good luck at work.

Welcome home Lullaby! She was out on quite an adventure. And you're doing great staying away from FB!

It's the end of the weekend, and I'm still exhausted. I've been either sick or knocked out by allergies to something. Bleah.
emoticon
I assume my muscles will get better with time (less sore), but I worry about my foot and knee--especially my foot. Too much walking and standing will only hurt my foot, because the tendon is ruptured--there IS no muscle to get stronger, only a bone structure that gets destroyed from the activity.

I'm not ready for Monday!

I'm not gonna be on FB till the 6th of October I need a break and to focus on R/L stuff.

Lullaby my lamb is home for a short while, she's been home for a week.

Happy Late Birthday to Patricia!

ugh. Two days down, one day to go this week on the new job. Everyone is nice, it's just that I haven't had a job since the cartilage in my knee tore and the tendon in my foot ruptured; i.e., since I became handicapped. Waaay too much walking for me. I didn't walk that much at the sci-fi convention! (I could pick my battles for the convention, but have no choice at work.) Even with the rollenator I'm in a lot of pain and exhausted. I hope THAT gets better with time.

Well, that's just swell that the person taking your reservation for Dragon Ball didn't finish their job before going on vacation. I've ended up printing out a picture of the delayed item and putting the picture in a gift envelope when my gift gets delayed. It's pretty annoying to have to do that.

I really need to find a job cause on my day zero list I put down that I need to save 10,000 dollars and I want to visit the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

When I put series one of Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z on hold the person who took my name went on vacation two hours after so it's gonna be a late pressie for Patricia's birthday.

heh. I may have no job decision to make, if that job interview on Thursday doesn't result in a job offer. It's only my theory of the perversity of the universe that I would get two job offers 2-3 weeks apart after going over a year without ANY job offers. Well, I start my job on Wednesday! And I'm still worn out from the stress.

*sigh* Sounds like Taco hell could be just a tad more applicant-friendly!

Oh, baby! Congrats on getting Season 1 of Junjo Romantica!! Happy Early Birthday!
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
I was fried Wednesday night/Thursday early morning getting ready for my 11:00 a.m. Thursday interview. Okay, I stayed up all night trying to be as prepared as I could be. I kept thinking of more things I could do and research. I think the interview went really well. Telling my son about it, he said,"They must have thought you were a GOD!" (I was extremely well prepared.) This was for a permanent position, unlike the one-year contract I just got; however, the commute sucks and the benefits can't possibly be as good as the one's I'll be getting.

I don't know if I'll get a job offer, but if I do, I think it unlikely they can offer me enough to woo me away from my good commute and great benefits. A friend of mine had to do that same rotten commute for a while and said that she would place the monetary compensation value to take me from my good commute to the crappy commute at $20,000 per year!

You could still hear from Taco hell, but it's good to pursue more options. Did Taco hell give you a date you should hear something by? My Interview course says we should always call and follow up on a job if we haven't heard anything by the date they said we'd hear something.

I don't blame you for passing on McDonalds. The one by my house has this air of...misery? All I know is that I feel like giving the staff hugs to feel better whenever I go in there.
emoticon

I called the manager about that job yesterday and left a message asking to know where I stood in the interview process. I'd interviewed 2 1/2 weeks ago. This is for a 1-year contract with the State of Minnesota, working with people I'd worked with in 2000-2003, but in a different function. I'd thought the interview went well, but wasn't comfortable it went well enough. Ah... Another dead end.

AND NOW...BREAKING NEWS!
Today (Tuesday) the manager called me back. She asked if I was still interested in the position. I said yes. She said that she was now in a position to make an offer! She apologized for the delay, but she'd been struggling with HR to try to get me more money. The offer is for $2,000 less than the absolute minimum I wanted to be able to pay our bills and expenses. (I'm talking minimum payments on bills, here.) However, I could tell she'd argued with HR and that was the best monetary offer she could give me. So she was sweetening the pot with unbeatable benefits and the potential to get my vacation accrual start date credited so that I could accrue more vacation than the normal two weeks/year. The benefits package will probably make up that $2,000 more I need. (Monthly cost of health insurance for one = $0. Deductible = $150. Yearly Maximum out of Pocket = $1100.) The commute is good, I'll have handicapped parking in the attached ramp (which is tough to get because that ramp serves a lot of government buildings in the area), I'll have 40 hour weeks, and I'll be working with fantastic people in a great environment on interesting assignments. Still, it's a 25% pay cut! I accepted the offer. I start on Wednesday, September 22.

However, I also have an interview for a different job scheduled for Thursday. It's about 10 miles farther away, it has a lot of traffic jams and snarls on the way, and it's right by the sport stadium (lots of event traffic). I've considered canceling my interview, but I decided to keep it. But even if they offer me a job--and it is a PERMANENT position--how much more money would compensate me for an ugly commute, difficult parking/busing for handicapped me and poorer benefits & vacation--plus the heavier work load? I've decided that $5000 more wouldn't be enough to tempt me, but what if they offered something close to my old salary? Well, I'll cross that bridge if and when I come to it.

Sorry about the ramble. It's been an interesting day. But I HAVE A JOB AFTER MORE THAN A YEAR!

It's about time for me to hear the results of my last job interview. I doubt I got the job (again), but I can hope... I plan to call on Monday and ask where I am in the job process.

I've been listening to Crocodile on the Sandbank on CDs from the library, and I really enjoy the reader. I hope you continue to like it. Amelia Peabody is quite a character!

I'm glad you're feeling a little better today. Maybe that's the way it will go: a little better every day.

I hope you'll enjoy "Crocodile on the Sandbank." It looks like all the Amelia Peabody mysteries take place in Egypt, which is fun. There are so many good books out there I didn't/don't know about. Every time I make a discovery like Elizabeth Peters' books, my librarian girlfriend already knows all about it.

I'm gonna start on sunday not logging in to FB I spent less time on it yesterday and felt less anxious afterwards.

I like mysteries. Thanks that's gonna be a tough choice both sound really good but i'm kinda favoring the first cause it takes place in the 1880's and the dry wit.

Feeling better today a little wound up though, my restleness and anxiousness is kinda off and on as far as i can remember would that be a bad thing.

I am a success at staying off Facebook because never joined. I don't trust the thing, with all the privacy concerns and horror stories about employers checking people's pages.

Junjo Romantica in your lap: LOL! emoticon

Waiting for ordered anime/manga goodies is like waiting for Christmas. It takes forever to come!
emoticon
Recommending books: Do you like mysteries? If so, I'll recommend either:
1) "Crocodile on the Sandbank" by Elizabeth Peters, which is the first Amelia Peabody mystery. It takes place in Egypt in the 1880s and has a wonderful dry wit.
-or-
2) "Strangled Prose" by Joan Hess, which is the first Claire Malloy mystery. Takes place in modern day Arkansas (well, 1980s), is funny and includes a delightful relationship between the heroine and her Capital-Speaking Teenage Daughter.

Restless and anxious: I hope it's because you're sensing something good about to happen. How are you feeling today?

My next project is to stay off FB for a week and if i can handle that i hopefully will by the end of the day zero project completely of FB forever.
My current goal or project is the following.
Ask 20 friends to suggest one book, and read them all.
Please suggest one book.

I currently have Junjo Romantica manga val.#2 in my lap right now cause if i had it in my hands it would be hard to type.

They didn't have season one of Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z so there suppose to get it in a week they have my Name and number.

Currently for some reason i'm restless, anxious and stressed no idea why.

Yeah, the Labor Day weekend was not good for getting up early. But I had a lovely weekend being a slug!

Thanks for the websites! Very neat. The Just Bento site has some nice recipes; I want to try to make the 1 egg tamagoyaki for starters. The instructions and photos are so clear. The omelets always look so fun in bento boxes in anime.

I'd never heard of Day Zero Project before--what a wonderful idea!

I've ordered volumes 2 and 3 of the Junjo Romantica manga from my local comic/manga/anime store. They didn't have anything in stock until volume 10.

My daughter will be 29 on September 29th. Her golden birthday! I'm pretty sure I hadn't mentioned her age before, just the fact that she's expecting her first baby in November. And that I'm crocheting baby afghans. And wrecking my wrist from working on them. I can only do 1 hour per day now to keep my wrist from getting worse.

BTW, MY daughter's name is also Patricia. And her birthday is September 29. Weird, huh?

I'm finally recovering from the Science Museum and then getting up for an 8:30 AM class on interviewing. I've been around longer than you and I STILL hate mornings. Although since being laid off, morning and I have only a passing acquaintance--except for the very early hours of morning. *sigh* It will be hell when I finally get a job again.

Science Museum was FUN! I'm exhausted and aching and in pain now, but I made it. Now I have my feet up and am recuperating. Very cool! We got to see actual fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls and other neat artifacts-as well as dinosaurs, slices of human bodies, nature stuff, etc. I bought a small replica of a scroll jar as a souvenir and an exhibit booklet.

Junjo Romantico season one would be an excellent birthday present! Yum!

The Science Museum sounds like fun and yet another summer goes by and i still have not taken my daughter to a science, art or kids museum because we spent all summer at various VBS and her friend Anna's, were doing less VBS next year.

If season 1 of Junjo Romantico is still there on the 19th of september i'm buying it cause it will be my birthday present to myself.

I hope you find some good classes and a job.

I'm thinking of checking out some online courses through the community college to see if I can beef up my skill set. I hope they have something I can use. Seems like no matter how many software packages I know, employers want SOMETHING I don't have.

I'd say Taco Hell awaits me too, but with the darn foot and knee I can't do any job requiring standing or walking. It would sure be nice to win a lottery jackpot. Or inherit a fortune from some rich uncle I didn't know I have.

ooooh... Junjo Romantico season 1 sounds nice.

We're going to see the Dead Sea Scroll at the Science Museum on Tuesday. That's our big event, and we're looking forward to it! I'll use my red rollenator.

Today is a 1/2 day for my daughter then she has full days the rest of the week, the only good thing about helping my kid with her homework is i get to remember everything i forgot in school. I'm hoping to take some classes at my local collage in the winter as i missed the fall semester.

I found Junjo Romantico season 1 DVD set at a local Anime store if they still have it in September i might get it.

I ment any other Manga i recently bought and didn't like has a great chance of being sent to you sorry for any misunderstanding.

Still very much jobless and contemplating taco hell emoticon

Good luck with school starting and good luck to your daughter too. Isn't it something how homework for the child turns into homework for the parent? *sigh*

Ooooh! What a find at your library! I love county libraries. Mine has lots of goodies too.

hahahahaha! I recently broke down and bought volume 1 of Junjo Romantico too, and I just finished reading it. I thought it was a keeper! Sighing Kiss sounds good from the Amazon description, but if you decide you don't want to keep it--I'd love to have it.

were having a really busy summer. school starts tomorrow for my daughter emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon she has to read for 20 minutes 5 times a week she has to practice her spanish for 5 minutes 4 times a week and her math 3 times a week for 5 minutes and i have something i have to sign and turn in once a week and that's not including any homework she gets. We have everything but the disinfecting wipes and a paint shirt which need to be white cause some time this year it's gonna be tye-died.

I found the following VHS at my local library (which can be taken out for one week and they don't charge a video, dvd or cd fee which is 1$ a week at wyandotte) Super-Deformed double feature which has Scramble Wars and 10 Little Gall Force
Phantom Quest Corp vol.1

I bought No.1 of Junjo romantico manga and Sighing Kiss it was good plus if i buy a manga and don't like it i can either donate it or i still have your address and can send it to you ;)

waaah! My SOS for crafty repair tips was gobbled up by SparkPeople last night. So I will repeat it:

Does anyone know how to remove permanent fabric glue from yarn? I used some to seal off a few stubborn ends and the stuff dried hard and rough.

I'm just letting everyone know that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth or abandoned the team. I'm frantically trying to get ready for our annual pilgrimage to the sci-fi/fantasy/anime convention. Of course, my costume isn't done. So.. I probably won't be around (much) until July 5th or 6th.

Have a happy holiday weekend for everyone in the US!

Thanks!

That poor guy, who send the SparkMail to 251,498 team members saying they were not intelligent enough to understand him, sent another SparkMail to the entire team apologizing for omitting the extra "not" in his sentence and inadvertently insulting everyone. I wonder how long it will take before he lives THAT gaffe down!

Is anybody else here also in the Emotional Eaters team? I received a SparkMail this afternoon from one of its 251,498 members, an email sent to the entire team. I'm still laughing about it.

In this group email, I learned that there has been an inflamed discussion in that team regarding Tough Love. I have not participated in nor been aware of this discussion.

The first paragraph of this email reads:

"I'm sorry team. I'm just having a real hard time with this. I get the feeling that many of you think I'm being judgemental with my Tough Love issue. I'm saying you're not smart enough to interpret what I'm trying to say. I just want to make perfectly sure you fully understand ME and my MOTIVES before coming to a wrong conclusion about ME and my MOTIVES. "

I can't help wondering if he reeeeeaaally meant to say, "I'M SAYING YOU'RE NOT SMART ENOUGH to interpret what I'm trying to say?"

He just told over a quarter of a million SparkPeople members that they are too stupid to understand him!

I assume this was a "finger-o" on his part. A reminder to all of us: Re-read our emails and entries before we send them! Be sure if we make statements like "I'm saying you're not smart enough to interpret what I'm trying to say." that we include the word NOT to make the sentence read, I'm NOT saying you're not smart enough to interpret what I'm trying to say!"

hahahahahahahaha!!

Ouch ouch ouch!!! Be careful with those darn blisters! Shoes are so darn difficult to get a comfortable fit.
emoticon
I ordered a pair of cedar shoe stretchers and just got them yesterday. I'm hoping they can stretch out the sides of some new shoes *I* bought that seemed really comfortable in the store and then hurt my baby toes when I got them home. After hearing about the blister on your heel, maybe I should have sprung for the extra $10 to get a pair of stretchers that stretch shoe LENGTH as well as shoe width. I could have just bought one stretcher, but I have two feet.

Hi everyone. Just returned to sp about a week ago, and wanted to check on this team again. I love the new stuff (facts, and words, and such).

Ex-Wimpie, I crochet a lot and love to hear about other's projects. Good luck on the baby blanket. I've always thought that each child needs something special made just for them by someone who cares for them. You can do it.

I'm trying to get "crafty" while job searching. I've just started crocheting a baby afghan. The instructions are a bit funky, I haven't crocheted in years, and I was never that good at it. Whole lot of swearing, ripping out, and redoing going on right now.

SWEEEEEET!

I re-re-re-did my resume(s) yet again today, hoping that I'll find the magical correct presentation that gets me interviews when my qualifications should get them. I like the way they look now, and I realized that they showed how little value I place on myself--I would NEVER submit writing that carelessly reviewed on the job, but since it's "only" for me... At least I think I finally have the presentation consistent now.

Alas, I found out today that I was passed over for the job I've reaaaally been hoping for because it's a perfect fit, etc. I'm feeling bummed.

Thanks Eliza! The new microwave is working great.

Glad to hear your daughter saved up her pennies and got that new Nintendo DSI XL. I've seen those--NICE!

My son was good at saving money when he was a kid. He saved gift money & allowances and did extra chore work until he'd saved up $250 to buy an authentic working Star Trek tricorder reproduction. It was (and is) super cool, and he treasured it keeping it as new in it's original box. A couple years ago we learned that it was a limited production of 5000, the darn thing is a collector's item, and it's worth several times what he paid for it.

Last time I bought something I thought would increase in value, it tanked. Can't even give it away now. I think I should have my son buy my lottery tickets for me. Clearly he got the lucky gene in the family!

My microwave died Thursday night. Waaaah!

Went out Friday night, didn't find one I liked. We went out again on Saturday and had better luck. Found one I liked that was also about $50 less than I was expecting to pay.

Happiness is a working microwave.

Eliza, I wish your camera would behave!

I'd love to see more of your jewelry. Do your earrings form sets with your other pieces or are they stand-alone?

They're GORGEOUS! You're really talented! Are you selling any of the jewelry that you make?

Go Lullaby! We'll have to be world travelers vicariously through Lullaby.

I can finally access SparkPeople better. Turns out my 5-year-old laptop was on its last legs and out of hard drive space. I broke down and got a new laptop, because I will need it for my job--when I get one. The laptop arrived a couple days ago from TigerDirect.com. It's so nice!
