I just checked out your Winchester photo. Very CREEPY! What all is going on there? There are orbs, but there's also that other strange misty action.

I LOVE Vincent Price! "The Tingler" is a good one. Hey, I may have that same DVD you have. I have a two-fer DVD set with Vincent Price in "House on Haunted Hill" and "The Last Man on Earth." They're still in my Halloween Movie Marathon pile. I wonder if there is a cheap Vincent Price collection out there...

Tonight we saw "The Dark Crystal." Not terribly Halloween-y, but it does have creatures. Last night was "Addam's Family Values."

I'm still trying to figure out my Halloween costume. My son is no help. I've more-or-less decided that I don't want to wear any of my anime cosplay costumes, although I might see if my stupid hernia makes the Go board costume bulge. Right now I'm torn between going as sushi, using the link ANIME77 posted, or as a deviled egg. Or maybe a fried egg.
emoticon
I looked for my stuffed tempura shrimp last night, figuring I could pin it on a small white pillow, tie it to my head, and viola! Sushi hat! But I can't find my stuffed shrimp. My son says he's sure it's in my room somewhere. So am I, but that doesn't help much...

Watch Vicent Price in "The Tingler" and started to watch "13 Ghosts"

Vincent Price is always good for a Halloween scare...I have "The Last Man on Earth" DVD with Vincent in the starring role.

Ooooh! I want to see your ghost photo from Winchester Mystery House! I can't wait. Tell me more!

Here's my photo story:
When I took my ghost photo, it was around 15 years ago, back when film was still developed--pre-digital. My sister-in-law took me to Forepaugh's restaurant for my birthday as a special treat and because she'd heard it was haunted. All she knew was that the 3rd floor was supposed to be haunted. When I was getting ready, my son asked me, "Are you going to bring a camera to take a picture of the ghost?"

"Good idea!" I thought and grabbed my camera.

We had 5:30 reservations on the 3rd floor, and we were the only patrons on the floor. When our waiter left, I walked around the 3rd floor taking pictures of each area. It's very nook-and-cranny in design. We didn't see anything unusual. I did hear weird whispering, but that could have been just the power of suggestion.

When the film was developed, in the middle of the roll was one anomaly--my ghost photo. I showed it to three different photographers who also did their own developing, and none of them could think of a photo situation or developing error that could have caused that appearance.

I called Forepaugh's to get more information. There is poltergeist activity all over the restaurant, but most of it centers on the exact table shown in the photograph! The story is that when Forepaugh owned the house back in the late 1800's he had an affair with one of the maids. When Forepaugh packed up his family, sold the house and moved to Europe, he left her behind--alone and pregnant. Abandoned, she hanged herself in the servant quarters of the house, which is the third floor.

If you look at the unedited photograph on my Sparkpage, you can see a head & neck shape, a body, and two legs. The ghost appears to be suspended in the air, as if it were hanging.

What I could probably use more than beauty or intelligence is charm and determination. But I'll settle for beauty, because that will look good for cosplay.

Good point! If I want to scare people on Halloween, I should just go as myself!

*sigh* I really wanted to release my "inner beauty" and go as Malificent, but it would be a foolish waste of money when I'm laid off.

I'm watching the last story in "Ghost Hunt", "The Cursed Mansion," as part of my Halloween Movie Marathon.

My last office party, I went as a "duck hunter",since I had everything already, I was doing AKC hunting tests with my curly Maxx...I had to leave him at home, but carried a soft duck, my duck call, and my trusty hunting whistles...love the "camo" look from head to toe...

Wonderful names for your cats! When I had a black cat, he was named "Scamp," because he always swiped things.

Lily Munster would be a GREAT costume for Halloween! I know how the money goes though. I was going to get a great Malificent costume and her staff to wear for Halloween--and then I checked my checkbook.

So I expect I'll be rummaging through old costumes. Right now I'm debating going Renaissance or as Kaede from Inuyasha or as Tsunade from Naruto or as a good witch or a Go board or throwing pieces together... Any thoughts?

Tonight's Halloween Marathon Movie was "Blade" starring Wesley Snipes.

Aww, I had a black cat.. long haired, cute, cuddly... his name was Dracula. XD
I also had another black and white cat, Tempest.

Anyway, for Halloween I was going to dress up as Lily Munster, but... I didn't bother to get the whole costume (and pay for all of it) so... I don't actually know what I'm being, now!! Usually I just dress up all gothic like.. and that's good enough. We'll see. XD

Halloween Marathon Movie tonight was a classic double feature:

"Dracula" with Bela Legosi
"The Mummy" with Boris Karloff

Also, completed Part 1 of the anime, "Ghost Hunt."

Question about Halloween costumes: Is anyone doing anime cosplay for Halloween or are people going with Halloween costume themes?

The "Godzilla" I knew and loved with Raymond Burr was heavily edited for the American English release. Apparently that version came out in 1956 and was officially titled "Godzilla, King of Monsters!" The original 1954 "Gojira" with Takashi Shimura doesn't have Raymond Burr at all! I'd never seen the original "Gojira" before and was surprised at the many differences. Good movie!

BTW, I love Perry Mason! I have seasons 1 - 3 and part of 4 on DVD.

Today's Halloween Marathon movie shows that I, too, have a deep appreciation for classic Japanese films. It was the original "Gojira", a.k.a. "Godzilla", with Japanese subtitles. VERY different from the American version.

And I saw "Ed Wood" too. Mr Depp was lovely in pink cashmere.

I don't have the original (and best) "Night of the Living Dead" or "Freaks", but I do have "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Young Frankenstein". (Love 'em!) They're in the stack. My stack looks like it has about 50 movies, so I don't expect to get through them all.

Tonight's feature is "The Ninth Gate" with (yum) Johnny Depp.

My best friend and I will sometimes wonder why my sister-in-law says things like that to me, because she's a nice person. Our theory is decades-old jealously from when she first married into the family and she was short & cute-shaped and I was tall & big-boned but slim ("She used to look like a model," she told my daughter.) Life changes us...

I mentioned the latest experience and theory to my daughter. (She who has grown up to develop a "I'm a Grown Woman now. So Mom says it's white? Well, let me tell you, Mom! It's black!" attitude.) Her take on it was, "You're wrong, Mom. Aunt Debbie wouldn't intentionally say anything mean like that. She just says things sometimes and doesn't realize how they come out." (Hmmm... my daughter sure is touchy enought about stuff said to HER!)

I like the Wizard of Oz idea though!

Thinking of favorite scary movies... I don't have just one. Shows I consider "Musts" for the Halloween season are: "Sleepy Hollow" (yum Jonny Depp), "The Changling," "Lady in White," and the "Ghost Hunt" anime. Oh! Thanks for reminding me! It's almost October, and time to drag out all Halloween-ish movies for viewing over the month--Dracula, Mummy, etc.

How about you?

Definitely a plus to be riding in the FRONT seat of the hearse!

I love Halloween too. I'll probably just be going over to my brother's for his annual Halloween party/open house. I'll see if I can find a costume that won't remind my sister-in-law to comment how I've always looked awful and how I'll never lose weight so I should just accept my fate. Soooo not helpful!
