Good for you! Going past your comfort zone can be incredibly scary but super rewarding. That is awesome that you took that first step. Sometimes that one can be the hardest. You've got this!

IMREITE- I joined Planet Fitness. It's a chain, but they're not (at least where I joined) pushy at all! They also have personal trainers that are available on a scheduled basis. Like certain times on certain days they can show you very specific things, and then I think one time slot every day is available to work on your personal program. I've been going for about a month now and I love it. Aside from the obvious health and weightloss benefits, it's really helping me manage my stress and anxiety. I have a parent with a chronic and potentially terminal illness, and I joke that going to the gym is cheaper than going to therapy.

I have been thinking about meeting with a trainer a couple times just to make sure i am doing exercises correctly. i had a free membership to a gym a couple years ago and liked it, but when it came time to sign up they were pushy and insulting so i didnt join.

UPDATE! I met with the personal trainer last night and it was awesome. He did under estimate me a little at first and just wanted me to focus on cardio. But, as I explained to him, I can do that at home. We spent the next twenty minutes going over lots of machines for me to use and it was great. I feel really good about the experience and I think I'm really going to like it there! I'm still going to do some cardio there though. I used the elliptical last night, and I'm not sure if I love it or hate it!

That is great! Good for you. Sometimes it takes making a commitment to something like a gym membership to get us motivated. I joined a gym last year to do cardio at lunch time and it has really paid off. I may not have lost a lot of lbs. but it really reduces my stress during the day. Good for you!

So... I joined a gym Monday evening. I went with the intention of just getting a tour and info, since there was another gym a little closer to home my husband wanted me to check out. But when we were doing the tour and there were all types and sizes of people there working out, I felt like I would be comfortable there. They have free personal training also, so I signed up for a
"design your own program" thing this evening.

I'm a little nervous because new things are scary, and because this is a whole 'nother level of commitment to changing my life. But, I'm excited too!
