a couple years ago i picked up a video from the library i think it was called "big butts hit the beach". it showed larger people, some whom were very fit and lean but still a larger size. they had modifications so it was good for all skill levels.

Don't forget to be awesome.

The only reason my mom called me "Grace" was when I was especially klutzy. I have no idea where I got my gift for sarcasm. "Grace" has only broken 13 bones, after all.

LOL....boy do I see myself in the statement "yoga for fat inflexible ladies...." Yes, I fit that statement as well. There's good reason why my mama didn't name me Grace! Thank you for the giggle, I sure needed that today!

Today is a new day. I can't change yesterday or know what tomorrow will bring. I can only control right here, right now.

I recently did the Just My Size Yoga (on YouTube) and loved it. It doesn't burn tons of calories, but I felt so much better after doing the workout, not in a "I'm going to be a yogi!" way but I was more relaxed and my muscles weren't sore the way they can be after a cardio/strength workout. My problems with most yoga workouts (my belly and breasts getting in the way) aren't as troublesome with this video, and she actually addresses how to cope with my bountiful bod to get in at least one pose.

I tried the SkinnyGirl yoga on here and it didn't make me feel the same way at all. For one thing, the instructor and Frankel are rather chatty, and then the poses are, well, more comfortable for a skinny girl than for someone with an excess of adipose tissue. Maybe I need a video called "Yoga for Fat Inflexible Ladies with Less-than-Stellar Coordination." I don't suppose there is such a thing. Yet - until someone steals that really awesome idea.

For cardio/strength, I'm really liking the HasFit videos on YouTube. I've been doing the 20 minute low-impact cardio and it's doable even for me. I like Coach Kozak's instructions and encouragement. I think of him as a male version of Coach Nicole here on Spark.

I recently purchased Leslie Sansone's Ultimate Collection DVD, with 1, 2, 3, and 4 miles walks. I've only done the one mile, but it's great! I'd say it's more aerobics, than walking technically, but you get all your muscles moving especially if you use weights.

My mom had an old Debbie Reynolds VHS. We always laughed because it was when the video store in town just opened and we had our first VCR with a REMOTE - corded.... My mother wanted an exercise video and kept sending my brother back for one she could do. It was called Do it Debbie's Way. Kinda dorky but kept you moving and was fun. I wonder if you can still get it. I think it would give me a good work out. I know there were three sessions on the tape.

Lots of good suggestions here! I'm trying to find an exercise program I can STICK to, aside from just walking. I'm going to check out some of the suggested DVD's on amazon!

I like the Turbo Jams but also Billy Blanks Tae Bo. He has Tae Bo workouts from 8 minutes to over an hour depending on ability and time. Tae Bo makes you feel so powerful when done! Billy Blanks PT 24/7 is a 30 minute workout series that's good, too.

I am new to your team. Due to the fact that I have a bad knee, I use my stationary bike a lot. I use to find watching a television show or listening to music boring then I discovered cycling dvds which helped motivate me to use my stationary bike more.

I use dvds from Bike-O-Vision. You can bike down roads in France, Spain, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Florida, South Carolina, Washington State, California, etc.....they are wonderful ways to see places you've never been and exercise at the same time. I've only just named a few - I have over 25 of their dvds.

The length of time can be 90 or more minutes so it is easy to break up the time to 30-60 minutes & continue your ride the next day. Again, this is a great way to exercise especially if you have knee problems. Plus, you'll be able to see the sights! emoticon

My personal favorites are the 10 Minute workout series DVDs. I can mix and match to get a varied workout. They have been such a lifesaver!

I continue to try to master Jillian Michaels's kettlebell workout video... it really kills me, but I am making progress. :)

Pips, I LOVE my TurboJam stuff, but also look into Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds (That one's pictures) and also another one that's a series that's fantastic for beginners is Slim in 6 by BeachBody. I'm no longer a coach and do not sell them so don't think I'm pushing them for that. It's a very doable program for beginners that will get ya going and get you ready for even more advanced workouts. Good luck and keep on going!

Hi all,

I added a couple of DVD pix to my blog today of Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds Walk and Kick and Just My Size Yoga. I just took pix of the cases but they are great DVD's. All of Leslie's are doable and the Just My Size Yoga is meant for bigger girls and helps with modifications to get into the poses. Yoga/stretching is so important so I was so happy to have found this DVD.

Good Luck and hope it works for you!

Tina
