I am consistant with my exercise, i just want to increase my intensity, do more strength and more flexibility/balance work. ok so i do have a lot oe fitness foals. i just need to focus more and spend less time on my butt. i have not been losing but i have been overeating so if i work on getting that under more control.

daughter coming back today from florida so hopefully we can get together soon to go to the gym or walk the stores or something. sun out suppose to be 55 degrees so I will walk to the mailbox that is about 10 minutes down the road. have a great day.

Good afternoon!

I am trying to catch up on things like house cleaning and things here on Spark.
I have been spending to much time online and most of those hours is here on Spark. I spend hours a day on here reading and things. So to organize my time better and so I can be better for myself and my friends on Spark I am going to just pop in every day to say Hello and huddle with the team and then everyday I will spend a bit more time with one group a day so I am not over whelming myself!

I am also trying to get back into a good routine that works for me.

I get to babysit my nephew tonight so i am excited about that!

Good after noon!

I am finally allowed to resume regular work outs but only for ten minutes day for the first week or two. The doctor wants me to go back into things nice and slow. I am ok with that. So I will do lighter things like wall push ups and arm videos and then cardio type stuff for ten like walking videos,for awhile.

emoticon Good Morning/Afternoon. it's 10:45am here in Killeen, Texas. I just woke up a little while ago. I went to the doctors yesterday evening and was told some news that i really wasn't happy about getting. But i guess i have to do it. Or i'll just get bigger and Sicker. I'm not a outgoing person. But now i have been told i need to out of the house 3 times a week to socialize with ppl and get new friends. I have live in Texas for 2 years and have no friends..the doctor wants me to do Physical Therapy and See a Gi Doctor and get a Heart Check Up.. I'm 45 years Old and i have all theses health issues... I guess it take a toll on you when you can't take care of yourself try to check in daily, but its hard when you have so many thing to do when you wake up...

Good Morning, or what's left of it. Hope you're having a good day.
I just called to pre-register Bob for blood work in the morning for 2 doctor's. Luckily it only takes one needle to do it all as he's needle phobic. Hoping the lab work doesn't show he's having new issues. I'm afraid his sugar could be up. He's a borderline diabetic and take Metformin for that, but they may want to increase his dosage if it's an issue and he won't be happy with that. But we'll see what the lab work shows.

I am also new to this group as well as new to SparkPeople. My challenge to exercise is a cardiac problem. I found seated exercise videos on the site and I am going to try that. I prefer morning exercising and I have a lot of weight to lose so any tips to stay motivated are appreciated.

No exercise at all yesterday. Rained cats and dogs all day long. Could have done my callanetics dvd but didn't... a little bit of resistance going on there. I expect once I've done it a coupla times I'll start looking forward to it though!

Did a whole 1 hour and 40 minutes walk yesterday. Enjoyed it but was aching by the time I got home! Will be walking again today. Weather looks nice so may go to the beach. Not sure!

Did a 50 minute walk in the rain yesterday. Hoping to start doing my beginners Callanetics DVD once a week starting Monday. Just another long walk today though. 50 or 60 minutes. Want to lose weight this week and I know exercise will boost my loss.

Snowed in, and feeling a bit under the weather. But I did recover my basement workout area, so I will be able to start lifting at home again. I just can't get myself to the gym now that my daughter has moved out, but I was quite good at getting it done in the basement before. Come March I will have to start swimming again to prepare for triathlon season.

I know someone who does not exercise because his size "does not prevent him from doing anything". Today he admitted he was struggling to find a vehicle he liked because he does not fit in them well. I started to realize that i need to put more effort into my weight loss because i am having trouble fitting in my clothes. then hopefully those that are around me may be more motivated to drop some weight,

Hi, I'm Julia. New here; enjoying all your posts. I struggle with exercising and sticking with it, but I'm desperate.

Some days I just run in place, some days I workout with Richard Simmon's Sweatin' To The Oldies III. I used to be really good with it, but over time, I stopped doing it.
I also dance a little sometimes, but not often enough.

i found a new strenght training workout- it is about 55 minuts. i struggled to so some things with the same form, but i simple have ab flab in the way. i also struggle with tricep dips- i hate this move. it hurts my wrists and i never feel like i am positioned right. but i keep moving and modify as needed

Hi everyone, I have not been in here because I have been going through some things and keep saying everyday I am going to come in here. i have played the Wii fit but have missed some days also. I have come to the realization now that I need a Sponsor. I know that sounds crazy but I need someone who cares about me to check on me and be there for me when I am going through this journey. It is very hard by myself and would love for anyone, if they are willing to keep in touch with me and I will share my phone number as that is a beater way to keep in touch. Hi all, yesterday was 4 weeks post op, and I am doing pretty well, am lifting 4 pounds 1/2 of my exercises for my shoulder and arm the rest are 2 pounds I have full rom on everything but putting my arm behind my back and bending my elbow behind my back the rest is 180 degrees of flexion standing up against the wall and lying down now and 90 degrees of internal rotation lying down and external rotation. My weight is staying not moving I look like smurf in shape , the lymph is still swollen , it will not move until I can get my body moving. I was at the gym Monday on the elliptical for 1/2 hour did leg weights and and hour in the pool for water aerobics. I was sore for 4 days. It stormed for days afterwards I got into a lot of pain the rest of week so took it easy I rode my bike a little. Today I was a slug except for doing my stretches. I have therapy every day during the week. Working at not getting my shoulder flared up and not over doing it , will have plenty of time to work out once my shoulder is healed .

I had no clue what a burpee was... Yeah that is definitely gonna take a while before I can attempt those. But thanks for the video link... I keep hearing about them, but never knew what it was!

I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday.

Hi all. Trying to get caught back up and back in balance. Our friends have been in town this week, but on Tuesday they have to go back to PA to begin the proton radiation therapy, which will last 7-8 weeks. Even though Becca is still her adorable, stubborn self, it's been anguish watching her parents go through all the decision making and logistics, and her siblings go through feelings of abandonment and fear.

I have been off kilter and far too busy, and cancelled almost all my weekend activities because I just needed to stay home with my honey and recharge my batteries. I did get out for a bike ride today, but otherwise have been eating terribly and barely working out at all. Time to get back on track.

You are welcome Tracy,
Hi all, I got my stitches out today, my surgeon said there was no bone involved just scar tissue so I will heal fast , I go back in 4 weeks for a check up. Will be good when I can get back to working out has been 8 months!

Burpies will have to wait until I've lost a bunch more weight. *L* I have too much belly for those. They also look like murder to the new person. Groiners is something I'd done a while back, I just called it a stretch. *L* Again, hard to do now because my belly gets in my way. But thanks for showing me what they are. :D I've learned something new!

Hi all, I am going to a follow up appointment for my shoulder today to see my surgeon.
I walked 2 miles yesterday to the library and back yesterday , discovered I left my running shoes at rehab, called they cant find them so had to walk in my sandals, that hurt. Had to go to the library to return my books that were overdue, can't ride my bike yet.
Wtg on your exercise and hanging in there.

I've been walking my block which is a 20 minute walk. I am trying to up the intensity as well and the duration of my workouts to 45 minutes. Right now, it feels like it will be the end of me, but I know that's not true. Each day doing it will keep getting easier. I don't even know what a groiners or a burpie is...What are they?

i have been trying to increase my intensity. i struggle to do some moves because my flab gets in the way. however i dont use it as an excuse to not try or do a modification instead. my ultimite goal is to get trim enough where i can do groiners and burpies without my flab in the way.

Hi everyone, I am home . My surgery was a success, I did have seizures when they did my block before the surgery and they thought I was having a heart attack afterwards but it was dystonia, and I did have an allergic reaction to an antibiotic before and after surgery . The rehab center I went to afterwards was not good I didn't get any therapy on my shoulder while there an I am getting stiff, I came home friday, and started with a home care company , the nurse has been to my apartment on Sat and Sunday for dressing changes and vital signs my PT starts tomorrow here with home therapy. I should have full recovery of my shoulder in 6-8 weeks.

Sorry for being MIA for so long. This has been a couple of staggeringly hard weeks. First, DH's youngest cousin was killed in a horrible, freak bicycling accident last Wednesday--he took a tumble off his mountain bike and the end of the handle bar pierced his left eye socket and completely tore up his brain. It was horrifying, and a huge blow as he was the young, fun uncle for a whole passel of youngsters.

As we were driving to Connecticut for Jimmy's funeral--literally as we were crossing the Tappan Zee Bridge--we got a call from our best friends. They were vacationing on the Jersey Shore when their middle child, who is 5 got sick. After she went into a seizure, the docs did a CT scan and discovered a brain tumor about the size of a plum, pressing on the brain stem and blocking drainage of her cerebral fluids. She was being life-flighted to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and they needed our help with the other two kids.

Visiting with DH's family was abandoned and we headed south to Jersey. We got in late that night, slept a very few hours, and then packed up the kids and headed for CHOP. We spent the entire weekend in the hospital, save for nights when we were guests in the home of a cousin.

Three brain surgeries later, it turns out that Becca has a very aggressive form of brain cancer. They got a very good removal of the tumor, but even with that, proton radiation therapy, and chemo, she has only a 50/50 chance of surviving. We're trying to be positive about it.

In the midst of all this, I got a call from my mom telling me that my nephew's newborn baby girl might not live. So that was added stress. Fortunately, she is doing well.

We drove home on Monday because we both had to work, and the family's nanny was arriving to take the other 2 kids back to the Shore to finish their vacation. While we were on the drive home, we were painfully aware that Jimmy's funeral was underway, but we couldn't get there.

After the funeral, DH's dad called to tell him that his grandmother had died that morning. (Not at the funeral, fortunately; in hospice care.)

Our friends' two other kids will be arriving home this evening with the nanny so that the 9-year-old can start school on Thursday. Becca's radiation therapy has to be done at CHOP because Cleveland doesn't have a proton radiation machine yet, but the parents are going to rotate so that one of them is here with the kids most of the time. I am overseeing the arrangement of meals and childcare to be provided as needed.

These kids are more to us than just our friends' kids. We have a personal relationship with each of them, and if something were to happen to the parents, we are the designated guardians for raising them. So this is an incredibly stressful situation. Prayers are welcome. I don't know how much I will manage to be around on Spark, but I will be thinking of you all.

Hi everyone. My surgery is this Friday the 16th at 8;30 am at Port st. Lucie medical center, 2 hour surgery 1 1/2 hour recovery will go up to the 3 rd floor to orthopedics then until at least Saturday until I am stable then transfer to a rehab facility until I can bathe and dress myself I will get OT and PT there. Recovery is at least 6 weeks the nurse at the pre reg scared me to death said this was going to be the most painful surgery and the most painful recovery and rehab . I got very dizzy was very grateful for my friend Kari.

Wow Miss G amazing! Wtg you am so proud of you for doing the pedal to the point this year I remember the difficult time last year you had. Glad you had a great time in Hawaii. I am still just hanging out and being a slug waiting for surgery, rode my bike all of 2 miles to the library and back. Have surgery next week on Friday and will be then in a rehab hospital until I can bathe and dress myself. I can't do much at the moment, will be going to my neurologist tomorrow and walking a bit. I look like a smurf . No muscle tone and swollen. Big hugs.

Wow, it's been quiet here! I went on vacation in Hawaii and had an amazing time, but hardly worked out, then came back and rode 140 miles last weekend for Pedal to the Point. And today I weighed in and I'd lost 13 pounds since mid-July!

Life is pretty good!

Hi all, I finally got a yes to have surgery to repair my shoulder, now waiting for it to be scheduled! The plan it for me to go to a rehab hospital after the outpatient surgery , since I will not be able to take care of myself for awhile , won't be able to use my arm or move it on my own. Saw my surgeon yesterday. I am still being mostly a slug. Big hugs to everyone. PJ

Wow Miss G WTG, the open swims are the hardest, I have friends down here that when they start doing the triathlons that say the same thing, whether it is in the ocean or a bay ( we don't often swim in lakes down here because of alligators , the open swim is the most difficult when you are starting out WTG! hope your foot heals quickly! Wow, I totally missed talking about it here!

I finished -- third-to-last, but I finished! I had a total panic attack in the cold murky water and wasn't sure I was going to even make it through the swim. Definitely need more pool time.

And I'm getting it. I stress-fractured my foot, so I'm off running until the first of August, but am allowed to bike and swim, so I've been in the water a lot more.

The past two days have gone better for me. I did 30 minutes of treadmill on Tuesday, and 15 minutes Wednesday. My June goal is to do 15 minutes of exercise 90% of the month. That's 27 days out of the month. Giving me a little leeway to have a bad day. I did start this goal early so I am ahead of the game. Tyring to stay motivated. So much "life" has been happening to me that I get sidetracked. Anyone else having toruble with getting in exercise want to join my goal??? The more the merrier!!!!!!!!!
