I also eat lowfat string cheese for a protein boost, The brand I use here is Frigo, but I am sure you can find a comparable brand
a 1 ounce (conveniently packaged) portion is

Man sacrifices his health in order to make money.

Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.

And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;

The result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.

I'm so glad to see this thread! I've been struggling with getting enough protein in my diet as well.

legumes (also high in fiber and other minerals)
use leaner cuts of meat (or trim the fat)
low-fat dairy

a proper portion of nuts- yes higher in fat then you are looking for, but it is the healthier kind and it should make you feel fuller.

Don't forget to be awesome.

I have meat lovers in my family too - so I completely understand. I use a lot of ground turkey in my cooking - when you add it in with other ingredients, it really does taste just like hamburger. I make chili, taco meat and really good turkey muffins (the recipe from bodybuilding.com is awesome)! Do you like spicy food? Also a lot of chicken breasts - I cook a few chicken breasts on the bone with the skin removed and just some seasoning - one of our favs is the Caribbean Jerk seasoning that I use as a rub. I then cook a few (in addition to the ones for dinner) and then cut up the remaining chicken breasts to use in other meals later in the week. Good luck!

I'm a meat eater, maybe too much so! I prefer meat to veggies. The only veggies I horribly dislike are carrots, peas, celery and brussel sprouts. I really like to put things in a crockpot. I'm actually excited to learn healthy cooking!

Thank you all so much for your help!! emoticon

Can't have whey and it is in all the powders.

beans! I have finally learned to love them. They are great for protein AND fiber. I keep them on hand and eat them at least 5 times a week.

There are great recipes all over the internet. I love to cook (and bake like you) so I'm always looking online to try to find a more healthy version of some of my personal favorites. We are meat eaters in our family -so I guess my question similar to PJs is -are you trying for more vegetarian meals? I use a lot of ground turkey - ground turkey chil (really easy and you can freeze portions for other meals), ground turkey taco meat (great on salads). One of our favorites is turkey meatloaf muffins (found the recipe on Bodybuilding.com) and it is really spicy, low in fat and high in protein.

Let me know what you are looking for and I maybe able to help direct you or give you some ideas.

Good luck.

Hi , I am PJ
check out this site about triglyerides www.mayoclinic.com/health/triglyceri
de
s/CL00015

I eat lots of veggies, in the summer that includes lots of salads your imagination is the limit, when you are asking for recipes are you asking for vegetarian ? There are recipe's here on this site , the library is a good resource as well. There are books with 3 or 4 ingredients . I eat a lot of fish and then add salads. I get frozen fish at Walmart , they have tilapia, salmon, haddock , various ones all frozen separately wrapped , you can bake them , I cook mine in the convection oven you can heat them in the microwave etc , I eat beans , make humus , make stir fry with chicken breast pieces and lots of veggies , have to think of and meat if you are using it as a condiment instead of the main event and it has to be lean all skin removed and only 3-4 ounces at a time not 1/2 of a breast that is a lot of meat and too much protein you will gain weight on that much protein at a time. We Americans eat too much protein, hell we Americans eat too much. I am sorry I am all over the place right now , didn't get much sleep last night. Check out the recipe section on here , maybe it will help.

Howdy! I'm new to sparkpeople and not much of a cook. I love to bake, which does not help with meals. I have certain guidelines from my doctor and I am sooo far short every day (ymy protein requirements (yesterday was a bad eating decision day, start again today) . I know meat & nuts are from protein, but both have fat & I'm too on my triglycerides. I am determined to learn not only to cook well but enjoy it too! My children are grown so its just me to fix for but I have a pretty big freezer, so making in bulk is not a problem. I do look forward to having my kids come in town and cooking a nice health lowfat meal that taste good. They will be shocked. I've always been a junk food junkie, but my kids love fruits & veggies.

please don't suggest tofu, and allergic to shrimp, otherwise I AM so excited to get some feed back!! God bless u all!
