When I saw this topic I honestly thought you meant when do I plan on meeting my end goal weight. Here I see you are talking about when you were either fat or thin depending on whether what you were "back then". I don't focus on a size or number because I have learned that depending on what clothing store or catalog you buy from your size can range 2 full dress sizes. For example, all of the Red Cat companies (Roaman's, Woman Within. et al) are generously proportioned so I can actually wear 1-2 sizes smaller but if I go to a clothing line in many department stores, I am usually brought back to "reality" and find that many of their styles are cut much leaner.

Also, when I was at my thinnest and I got down to 119 lbs (which I do not even think is healthy today for me) I was still a size 7 because I rarely exercised and certainly not in the way that you see now. Since, I am more toned today (again because of the advances made in the world of fitness) even though I still have a lot more weight to lose, I have a feeling that once I reach my end goal weight of 145 lbs. I could easily be a size 6 but we'll see. The main thing for me is not the size (after all you can cut the tag out if it bothers you that much) but being a weight that is considered "normal" for my height and body frame. FYI: wait and lose at least 50 lbs if you are obese because when I did the standard measurement on my wrist to determine my frame size I came in as a large build but just recently I did it again, after losing 75 lbs and now I am a medium. For all I know, another 75 lbs lost and I might even be a small framed person. Who knows?

I know what you mean when you talked about looking back. I see pictures of myself at age 15 and 16 and I used to think I was fat then! I was wearing a size 11 now being a size 18 I think it is very sad how we perceive ourselves.

I'd like to not be plus sized anymore, but I'd be happy if the smallest I could get to was a 12/14. That's the size I was when I met my husband (I was 16) and also the smallest I've even been. I couldn't see it then, but looking back at pictures, I looked really good!

I've been plus-sized my entire life, although (at one point), I managed to Atkins&diet pill (NOT GOOD) down 100 pounds into a size 18. I FELT SO GOOD!

But as soon as I stopped popping those pills and started eating carbs (the "bad" carbs), I regained all the weight I'd lost and was back at a 26/28. Now I'm down to a size 22 and I hope to keep moving!

Right now I'm a 26/28/30/32... it really depends on the brand!

But I'm really only wanting to get down to size 18 jeans. Maybe 16 so if something's cut small I can still get the 18's on.

I'm really comfortable with my curves, and I don't want to be flat on either end.

I'd like to not be plus sized but right now I'm focusing on getting down to the lower plus sized clothing. After that I would like to be able to shop in a normal store and be a medium/large size. Right now I'm just focused on becoming smaller than I am now though.

I always said I would like to be a size 12/14. I am good with that, no matter what the scale says. I am a size 22/24 now. I don't want to wear 3x, I just wanna wear med/large. I want to go to the store, a normal store, and buy something off the rack and not worry they don't carry it BIG enough for me. I want to go on vacation and be able to buy souvenir clothes because they will have my size. I want to get on a roller coaster with my 13 year old and not worry the seatbelt won't fit over my big arse and legs.

When those things happen, I don't care if I am considered plus sized, big sized, average sized, or mini sized. :)

As a teen and up until the early 90s I did professional African dancing. I was always the largest dancer but was able to keep up with everyone in the troupe. . I feel great at a size 12 or 14. so I'm taking this one step at a time. One size at a time and working towards reclaiming my healthy self that I know I can be.
I have health issues due to a car accident but am overcoming them also. It's a up hill battle that I plan to win. emoticon

Good morning,
I have never been really small, but even in high school and college I was very athletic so the size 12/14 looked a lot smaller. Then things changed (presently in my 40's with health issues) after having kids, but still active my goal size is 16/18. To many that may sound crazy, but I have been smaller and I looked really ill and because I am tall 200/225 (and the sizes) look pretty good on me and I feel GREAT which is the goal, how you feel inside. I'm not happy right now I have a good 50 to lose, but it's a slow process that I will continue to follow. Wish me luck as I do to all of you.

I know I can DeterminedDiva

I never dreamed I would end up a plus size woman! I am really angry and disappointed in myself for allowing myself to get to this point. It seems like I have little to no energy anymore. I love to walk, but with all my health issues and now the time of year it is, walking is quite difficult to keep up with on a regular basis.
I was in a 12/14 most of my life. But I was always made to feel like I was fat! Now I am, and I don't know where to start. I would love to get back down to a size 14 again. I know I would feel better.
Thank you all for listening. I really needed to vent. Take care all...

I would like to reach a size 14. I was a 14 back when I was 17-22. I looked and felt good. And I was comfortable at that size.

I have never worn a single digit size except in shoes. But I would love to shop in a regular store and even buy stuff on sale that isnt as big as a circus tent. I was hit by a car and lost 110 pounds in the hospital. 40 years ago. In my 20s. Looking at pictures of me at 130 pounds all i can see is feet, hands and a head. I looked like a clown. At 175 I looked good and felt great at size 14. Hope I get there. I am feeling soooo much better now after less than 3 months with sp. Hang in everyone. Everyday is worth it. emoticon

I was never small and even as a child, my frame was not small. I would love to get down to a size 14 and that is as far as I want to go. I have a ways to go but that is my ideal goal.

I'm new but I figured I'd add my input. My lowest adult weight was reached in my early 30s (I'm in my mid/late 30s now) and I weighed a little over 200 lbs. I wore a size 14 (and had a size 12 dress). I was pretty happy at that weight but unhappy at the number on the scale. I've gained some of the weight back but if I could get to a size 12/14, I'd be very happy but that is still considered border line plus size. I am not sure I see myself in single digit clothing sizes.

All my female relatives, regardless of their weight, have big hips, so I imagine I'll always wear plus size pants. I'd be happy just to get down to a size 12.

not really sure how to answer that question but for me I am boarder line plus in my opinion and although at one point I lost 70 lbs in a year and went from a size 22 to a size 12 in that time I still felt plus sized. I think what we need to realize is that as we are changing our bodies we have to change our minds as well cause as we begin to lose the weight we or at least I feel the same way fat and disgusting because that is how I have been years and how I have seen myself. So I think that is one of the many important factor to helping us continue with losing but we also have re-develop our mindsets about us otherwise we will fail... it happened to me and I think that is part of the reason I gained most of the weight back... I'm not back in a 22 but if I don't step it up I will be and really start to think about why I continue to relapse.

I hope to eventually be back to a much smaller size. I have been there before, in fact several times. It is maintaining that has always been elusive to me! When I last weighted 145 lbs I wore a size 9/10. Miles from the size 26/28 I am at now!!!

My journey begins with one step....and I am taking that step today!

If I reach my current goal, I'd still be considered Plus Sized. I'd actually still be considered obese. But I'll also be 65 lbs lighter when I reach my goal, and that's not chicken feed. I'll be a lot healthier at that size too than I am now. But I do hope somewhere down the road to get from being obese to just being over weight (165-175 lbs). I don't think I could maintain a weight lower than the 165 lbs.

My main goal is to be a size healthy. Where I can play with my son and not be out of breath on less than 5 minutes is all that matters to me. I feel society gets to caught up on single digit size; I have seen many people who are that skinny but not healthy. emoticon

I think I will be what the fashion industry considers "plus-size" for life.
I will be the healthiest version of myself that I can.

I've lost 230 pounds using SparkPeople with no weight loss surgery and gone from bedridden to walking... if that isn't something unexpected in my lifetime lol. I never thought I would do that!
Well, no, I guess with all this skin I will never be non plus sized. It is snapping back to some degree, don't get me wrong, but moisturizing and exercise do only go so far when you have over 300 pounds to lose.

I am ok with being what society considers to be plus size. I have always been plus size. 3 years ago I was a 14/16 and now am 18/20. At this point, I will be happy to get back to 14/16. I remember when I first had to buy 1x, rather than just xl. I was devastated by this. I don't want to be "thin", just healthy. I like having curves and being "thick". I definitely want to get rid of this belly fat and tone my body. I want to be able to wear sleeveless tops and shorts without being so self conscious about the flab and cellulite. I would also like to be able to wear high boots that will fit over my calves. I have huge calves and always have. That probably isn't going away!

Since the Fashion Industry consider size 12 to be plus size, I am going to be a plus size for life! I felt my best at size 14 which was about 140 for me. That is my goal weight. My doctor want me to lose 10 percent to get healthy.
I don't mind being considered plus size because I know that whatever size I feel good at is the right size for me. Size is just a number!
If i can kinda keep up with my six year old then I will be happy.

Hang in there LLAPORTE8. Know you are not alone. Take it one day at a time. I spend many a night exploring the Spark site. Keeps my fingers busy and it has been keeping me motivated. I stopped dieting years ago. I try now to eat what I want, however I have to weigh it. Portion control for me. It's worked. I've dropped 25 and have a long way to go. Remember to set short term goals and reward yourself. I use scratch tickets as my reward instead of food. Who knows I might win big 2 ways, hitting a big ticket, while the ticker on my weight lose gets bigger.

I worked in a clothing store one summer during college, and it was really eye-opening. I sold a girl two sundresses that fit her perfectly. One was a size 3, and the other was a size 9. Sizing for women makes almost no sense.

Then again, it's just as well that not everything is cut for only one body type. I have a good friend that I love to shop with. At least twice during a session of trying on clothes one of us will say, "This looks terrible on my; you should try it on!" Because we have very different body types, stuff that is hideous on my looks great on her. So I'm glad there is variety in styling!

What ever size clothing I end up having to purchase doesn't mean much to me. The clothing industry for women is so insane. I can wear an xl, 1x, or 2x depending on who made the clothing. I want to be fit and healthy. I've lost 25 and have gone down almost 2 sizes in pants and 1 in shirts.
I just want to be able to go into a store and be able to purchase clothing that is in style and cut properly to my size.

It's sort of appalling to me what the world regards as "plus-sized" these days. Mindy Kaling is thought of as "kind of chunky" but she's a size 6! Skin and bones is not the standard for beauty!

I think I will always be plus-size. I'm just built curvy and I am not planning to go to such a low weight that I am no longer; curvy. And I am ok with this.

I really thought about this question and I guess I will always be Plus Size according the industry! Some people told me I looked scary and too thin at size 12! I am comfortable at a size 14. I'm down one dress size from 24/26 to 20/22. Some people can go down a dress size with a 20 lbs weight loss, it took me 40 lbs to fit back into a 22w! Maybe because that 24/26 was getting tight, I don't know. But everyone is different. I'm not bothered as much about being a Plus Size as I was when a doctor labeled me as being OBESE! That shocked me, alarmed me, offended me and depressed me all together!! I had never been addressed as OBESE! Wow!

I don't really plan on ever being lower than a 14. I can look really great in a size 14.

One of the things that keeps me going is that, eventually, I won't have to shop in the "Women's" section of stores, or at Lane Bryant. I will never be "skinny", but in the not-too-distant-past (2007), I was fitting into size 10-12 "regular" clothes, and feeling wonderful. So, yes, I DO in fact plan on not being Plus sized. :)

I felt my very BEST when I was 170-180. I was wearing a size 14, kicking butt while I exercised, and life felt amazing. This size is looked upon as "plus-sized", but I look at freakin hot. Got a little meat to squeeze but small enough to enjoy a vacation at the beach! Besides---being that size and going out with my guy friends, it was expected that I was going to eat... not nibble a cracker. Hahaha

In conclusion, I never plan on not being plus-sized upon the definition of clothes sizes. But I will be healthy with a healthy BMI and outlook on life!

Even at my smallest I was plus sized, so I don't think it would be reasonable to expect that of my middle aged self.

I plan on being healthy and happy. I am not going to let a plus sized body image ruin my life anymore. I only have 1 life to live, as far as I know, and I want it to be a good one. I already wasted 20 known years worrying about body image. I refuse to waste more on it. If other people do not like me because of this, then bump them. They are not the kind of people I want to be around anyways. The only thing I want to plan is where my much needed vacation is going to be next year!

Unless current standards change, I will always be a plus-size. My goal is to get back to a 14-16. I can't image being less than a 14, because of my frame and the fact I was already wearing that size in the 6th grade. Stayed that size all through high school. Over the last 10 years have gradually krept up to an 18-20, or 18W.

I just want to look and feel good . . . going back to a 14-16 will do that for me.

I am working on being at least 50 pounds lighter, but I have to be held accountable. If not I slide back way to easy. I was excited that Spark has helped me to lose 75 pounds, but over the summer 30 has crept back on way too easily. I am certain that by sticking with my daily goals and charting my foods, I will drop them quickly. As for being plus sized, I have to believe that I will not always be there. However, I struggle with too much attention when I am slimmer. I feel that people talk about me, to me about my weight. I know that I don't "need" my fat buffer, but it is scary without it....

I guess part of this is establishing what, exactly, is "plus sized" in our minds. I can now buy clothes in the regular clothing department in many stores--XL clothes, but still, I can buy them. Does that mean I'm no longer plus-sized? But I still *can* shop at Lane Bryant and Avenue, and in the Women's department in other stores. So am I still plus-sized?

And in the industry, a "plus-sized" model is a size 8! By those standards, I'm *never* going to not be plus-sized!

I'm currently a 16-18. I would like to be a 12-14 eventually, but not smaller than that. So by some standards, yes, I plan on being plus-sized. By other standards, no.

Unfortunately I don't see myself as not being plus size

I would like to lose some weight but I don't think I will ever lose enough to be considered "skinny"

I also think that if I lost a large amount of weight I would have that "extra skin" to contend with so "skinny clothes" would still not fit

The most important thing about any weightloss is that your goal weight should be comfortable and sustainable. It's better to settle in a little higher than what's considered ideal that to exhaust yourself (myself!) trying to stay at a weight that is too low and then completely lose control and gain it all back.

I just started spark last week. Today is the 1st day of my 2nd week. I lost 3 pounds so far. My goal weight is 140 but I'm going to eventually shoot for 135 if I succeed at this. If I end up being 135 I will probably be a size 9-10 but my bust will be a D. That's what It was like for me 15 years ago. That's just how I hold my weight. I will have to have dresses altered which in a way I am dreading. I think maintaining will be the hard also. I'm not really focusing on the end result right now though. I am just focusing on what I need to do today and taking it 1 day at a time. I don't know if I will be a single digit or not.
