E superr.

This is my first day here on SparkPeople. emoticon I'm 21 years old and I weigh 30 pounds (approximately 13 kgs) more than I'd like to. I was reading your forum in which everyone tells how many minutes (even hours) have he/she exercised that day...and I got extremely ashamed of myself...I've always been the person who considered herself a healthy-lifestyle-living person but in the last 10 months I became the opposite of that. It happened that I had to work many-many hours a day, including saturdays and sundays (12, 14 or sometimes 16 hours a day) because me and my fiancee opened a chinese fast-food and it took a lot of work and stress. It exhausted me and made me vulnerable to every type of illness, from physical illness to mental illness. I couldn't take care of my body, my spirit, it made me have problems at the university (this is my last year so it would be too bad not to finish it). I decided that I'm gonna make a huge change and I'm gonna manage my time in a smart way in order to have time for the really important things.

Here's my list with my goals:

1. By July the 20th I wanna drop 13 kilograms(go from 666 to 53).
2. Drink 8 cups of water each day (until this time I hardly drank 2 cups a day).
3. Have a healthy nutrition (I'm already working on planning this precisely, I'll share it with you guys later).
4. Get my 8-10 hours of sleep each night.
5. Introduce exercising to my life as a "MUST" or better said as a "VITAL, UNSKIPPABLE PART OF IT". This means working out at the gym, jogging, swimming and aerobik, and maybe later having dance classes with friends, squash, tennis...
6. Take care of my woman-side, meaning that I will always make time for cosmetician, hairdresser, manicure, pedicure, massage (even anticellulite!)...
7. Spend some time alone with myself as often as possible to remain sane, to read books, to think, to analyse my feelings...
8. Take my favourite nutrition supplements that I stopped taking because I wanted to save money (LifePak from Pharmanex - FANTASTIC!! but you can't get it from the stores)
9. Go to see a doctor ASAP to make sure everything is ok right now and if it isn't than do what I need to do to fix it.
10. Sunbath as much as I can.
11. ACCEPT EVERY SINGLE HUMAN BEING ON THIS PLANET NO MATTER THEIR BEHAVIOR, WHAT THEY SAY, ETC....including my family, fiancee friends...
12. Spend more time with my friends and go out more often than I do now to have some fun (I wasn't going out at all in the last 10 months except a few exceptions)
13. Finish school! If I continue it like this I'm not gonna finish school and I really don't want that to happen.
14. Besides all these I want to manage our store as good as I can together with my fiancee in order to become independent from my parents as soon as possible.
15. Last but not least, I'd like to become a real member of the SparkPeople community because I think I just found a real treasure!

"Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says "Oh Crap, She's up!"

My nutrition plan is larger than yours. Everyday I eat oatmeal with milk, chicken or fish,1 egg, some cheese, vegetables and many fruits(apples, grapefruits or bananas), rye bread(sometimes white), unsweetened youghourt(1cup), potatoes or rice. For salads I use olive oil. I can't live without sweets that's why every day I eat a small one.

Hey!
I'm trying to eat healthy, only chicken and fish for meat, lots of vegetables and fruit, low fat yogurt with apple fiber and sweetner (for deserts), no white bread (only the dannish type - wet and whole grains in it, but not too often), nothing fried, barely any fat, only from olives, olive oil, and fish. And I love pickles :d couldnt live without them.
I try to eat about 1400 calories a day.
I go to the gym, 20 mins weights and 60 cardio, daily.
That's about it.
Oh did I mention I cant quit pepsy twist light and 7up light? emoticon

Hello, there!

So, what is my nutrition and exercise plan?

A. Nutrition: I try (but not always succeed) to eat about 5-6 meals a day - two major meals like breakfast and lunch and several snacks. I am crazy for sweets and cheese and everything one shouldn't eat on a diet so I try to improvise. That is I think of what I enjoy eating and combine it with what is healthy.

My day usually beggins with a sandwhich: 1 small slice of whole grain bread, 1 slice of turkey pastrami or another kind of low fat meat, 1-2 lettuce leaf and 3 slices of tomato. I also drink an instant coffe, made either with 0.1% fat milk or with sparkling water and diet sugar.

Around 11 am I get hungry again. It is time for the first snack: usually, either a fruit yogurt or a serving of cottage cheese, low fat.

At 13:00 I have lunch: either a salad with lettuce, tomatos, cucumber and seafood (shrimp or squid of salmon etc) and lemon juice dressing - no oil at all.

At 15:00 it is time for another snack: either a fruit (I prefer bananas, although they are sweet because it keeps me saturated for a longer period of time) or a slice of meat or anything else that does nod exceed 200 cal.

The evening is a true problem, because most of the working days I have dance classes beggining at 19:30. So, I seldom get to eat before classes, because I am at work and afterwards I get really hungry. It is at 10 pm that I usually break the rules and eat whatever I can find at home. :(( But, generally, good days end up with a polenta and low fat cheese and yogurt and a nice fruit tea.
;)

2. WORKOUTS: for me the magic word is dancing. I do salsa and samba and jive and argentinian tango and other dances and it makes me feel super. And badminton is also something I enjoy doing on weekends.

That's it.

Have a short and sunny week you all.
Alex.

well...let's see... i eat lots of veggies, fruit and drink my 8 glasses of water every day. i eat fish and chicken, milk, sometimes pasta. i drink green tea and carrot juice as a treat. i have a bite of dark (85%cocoa) chocolate every once in a while, as a prize i deserve. i usually take the stairs (i live on the 8th floor) and always do my workout. i walk on my treadmill, do Tae Bo cardio (Billy Blanks), use my dumbells and ankle weights, and now i'm thinking of trying some Pilates as well.
i only wish the days were longer, if i had 50 hours a day at my own disposal, i would definitely be much happier!
anyway, i want to be a sexy wife, a hot mom, a beautiful fit woman and last but not least, very healthy! and since the goldfish is not around, i have to make sure i'll be all that! lol...it's up to me!
Cricketro, thx again for SP!
Kracovitza, it's nice to have our own team!
Blue-Star, i really like your English! emoticon ps: i'd rather use Romanian as well...

for nutrition, i cook vegetarian foods for myself--dishes with beans, lentils, tofu, eggs. i try to eat whole grains (brown rice, oatmeal), fruits, vegetables and lean dairy products (plain yogurt, skim milk). i don't usually have pasta, white rice, white bread, potatoes or sugar. i try to stick to the ratios of carbs/protein/fat that sparkpeople suggests, and if i go over in any category it is usually carbohydrates. i eat between 1200 and 1550 calories per day.

for exercise, i walk everywhere. i walk recreationally, and i dance. i also strength train (i don't have equipment so i do exercises with my body weight as the resistance) 3x a week. i also have some cardio DVDs i use sometimes. i am hoping to be more disciplined with exercise and start running!

Ok, I get it. If you enjoy it then by all means, continue!
I like this forum and I'll continue to stay on this team, just that I don't think I'll be posting too much. My boyfriend is American, at the office I speak only English, I watch only English and American TV and when I get online 90% of what I read is in English. So I hope you understand why I need a break!
Thanks everyone for being on this forum!
Wish you all the best!

Hi! I hope I'm not going to upset anyone by saying this, but for the life of me I can't understand why you girls want to speak English here. Is this a rule of the forum or something? That would explain it... I mean, you are all Romanians, right? So why don't you speak Romanian?

I am Romanian too, I speak perfect English and I live outside of Romania, but I wish I would be able to use Romanian when I interact with other Romanians.... That's why I don't enjoy posting on this forum...

Sorry for being off-topic, but I just had to say this...

On topic now: Since I discovered SP (a few weeks ago) I started to eat right, mostly fruit, vegetables and chicken/fish/veal once a day, and I've been exercising almost every day using different DVDs (Pilates, Brisk Walking, Yogalates, aerobics) and my own mini gym that I have in my living room (elliptical machine, Kettler multi gym, dumbbells and other fitness equipment). I'm eating between 1200 - 1600 calories per day and I'm burning at least 600 calories only by doing cardio.

So far I've lost only 2 kilos and I'm a little bit disappointed because I expected to lose more.
I'm going to stick to this anyway...

Good luck to everyone!

My nutrition plan is very simple: I try to stick to the meal plan suggested by sparkpeople, and thus make sure i get all the necessary nutrients within the calorie range - which is about 1500 a day.

The difficulty consists in planning for the day ahead, during holidays (I work as a teacher), when I am at home and have time to cook healthy meals, it is all perfect, but when i go to work, it seems to be such a struggle.. Even if i pack something healthy, there are days when i can hardly take 2 minutes to sit down and eat.. Then I get home and feel so hungry that i eat whatever I had packed (which is good) plus whatever comes into sight (which is awful).

As to exercise, I used to go jogging - in Parcul Babes, for my fellow ClujSparks - about three times a week, that was before my son started school (last september). Now I walk to and from school with him every day, but that is not enough. Moreover, I have recently suffered severe backpain(lumbago) and that reduces my possibility to exercise even more.. for the time being.
At present I am trying to figure out a plan that works, but summer holiday is already close and then it will all be so easy.

good idea cricket emoticon ! for example: i thik i'm a very bad case of planner. i can't stick to any nutrition or exercise plan. But i gained some healthy habits like eating fruit (2-4/day), veggies, drinking 1l of water and tea (imagine that before my "spark age" the only fluid that i drank was the coffee in the morning). I eat usually only mixed grain bread or rye bread and it tastes so much better than the spongy white bread. I usually don't go over the 1500 cal/day.
And you know, all these little things added together and made me loose about 3 kg. I didn't sense any effort with that. And i know the 3 kg i lost are fat kg because my waist and hips shrank. it's not much, not spectacular but i didn't expect or wanted to loose weight quickly.
besides that i have a problem with exercising in the summer. in the winter i have snowboarding that consumes huge amount of calories per session. but i find the summer sports pretty boring. next week i plan to go to an artificial climbing wall. let's see if i change my mind about summersports... i'll let you know if it's worth going there.

Do or do not... there is no try! (yoda)

Let's share our nutrition and exercise plans.

i don't have a "set" menu. I don't eat red meat, i'm a semi-vegetarian, i gave up sugar, margarine, fried foods...

i usually eat 1200-1300 cal/day but when i work out more i eat 1400-1500 cal. mostly i eat fish and chicken, fruits and veggies. i eat only whole wheat or mix grain bread.

once in a blue moon i might eat rice or potatoes. i only use olive oil and only 1 teaspoon for a salad no matter how big it is.

as for exercise...i walk a lot (we have a lovely river here by our house-Mures), i also have a stepper which i use and some dumbbells.

right now i burn only 700 cal/week but i intend to increase it as i get closer to my goal.
