I put together a bento set and took it to a White Elephant party. Of course, the person who got the pink strawberry bento box (with matching chopsticks and rice-ball press and a few other bits) was one of the only guys at the party, but he thought it was grand fun and seemed genuinely excited at the notion of taking a bento to work.
I bought myself the Bento Friends t-shirt from J-Box.com, which is sort of like a present. (Hey, someone has to buy me silly t-shirts!) And we picked up a collection of beautiful New Year's cookies today to go into bento for the next couple weeks.
Read and read and read this Book of Five Rings, and step and step and step on this dojo floor.
She said that my lunches looked like so much fun she not only bought herself one as well, she bought bento boxes for a few of the people she works with. I ended up buying several people in my family bento boxes/accessories as gifts and put together a little "intro to bento" booklet for them, which were a hit. So for those I know, it was a very bento Christmas. In the US it isn't something that everyone has heard of but once they see it they love the idea.
Did anyone else get a fun bento gift for the holidays? A sweet friend of mine got me a cute new red bento box ( photos-ak.sparkpeople.com/4/8/l48730 47 99.jpg ). And I got myself a punch that lets me make lots of faces. Anyone else get something good?
