I'm going to make some sticky rice tonight (easy to do in a rice cooker), and we're having steak for dinner so I'll cook an extra. Daughter loves mushrooms so I'll saute some.
Our bento for tomorrow will be steak, mushrooms, and rice. I'll probably add another vegetable, and some yogurt for dessert. Daughter will get another vegetable (maybe some extra mushrooms) and cookies for her dessert.
Tuesday we'll have leftover chicken and rice.
Wednesday we'll have leftover steak, leftover corn, and veggies.
Thursday we'll have another version of chicken and rice.
Friday I'll take leftovers, and daughter will get whatever she wants. She really wants to go get fast food, so Friday's a good day for it.
Every week or two I prep a bunch of white rice. Sometimes I make a bunch of mini nigiri, but this week I think I'm just going to portion a bunch of 100g ziplock bags out and toss them in the freezer (feeling lazy).
I also need to figure out my veggie side dish for this week. I found enoki mushrooms at Whole Foods last week, and I need to figure out how to cook them! It's kind of sentimental for me -- when I was a foreign exchange student, my host mom ALWAYS packed enoki mushrooms in all of our bentos. It was because they lived near high-voltage power lines, and she was convinced that the power lines caused cancer and mushrooms prevented cancer. :)
My bentos usually consist of rice, a veggie side dish, a protein (usually I do frozen foods like Morningstar mini corndogs, or I do tamagoyaki), and fresh fruits or veggies to fill the cracks (cherry tomatoes, grapes, blueberries, etc).

Strawberries, Carrots, Cucumbers, Cealery, Grapes, bread, pepperjack cheese. Don't know yet if I'll be adding any vegie dog octopuses or fun shapes of fried tofu.
Trying to figure out if I can throw together a bento tomorrow or not...I need more protein.
So far: Strawberries and salad
not sure what else
I made fish pieces wrapped in cabbage leaves and steamed in white wine and butter. I had it today and it was so uplifting for the rest of the afternoon (day spent in training, blah)
BTW, this was my first bento and I was so excited this morning throwing it together with some short grain brown rice.
