You will soon get mobility back when you start loosing Patsy. The couple of winter kilos I gained has an impact on my knees too, so happy I discovered those Transact patches for the pain. I used them over the winter and they really do help together with my Eucalyptus and Peppermint essential oils, brilliant to keep the inflammation under control. So happy it's summer and I can walk without pain, suppose it's still bad for you because you guys get summer rain...not good for the aches and pains. Are you still working Patsy or have you retired now?

This side is also sooo bad, you dare not walk in town, it is sooooo dangerous !!! I try to not sit in front of the TV otherwise i wanna snack!!! Yes i folow the SP diet plan, logging food / water / exercise and all that !!! hahahaha I am actually doing great at the moment. I also have a problem with the sweet stuff !!! hahaha I notices when it raining and overcast my right knee and back hurts like hell, so we found out i have Artharitus !! some days i have to walk with a "kierie" it get so bad, cant bend my knee too far so i try and walk more than anything else.

What is it with us women and emotional eating, don't worry my weight also went up this year! Must say not as bad as in the past, so I do have more control but still not TOTAL control...hehehe, I shall put all the blame on the crap going on in out country. Seriously, it's no joke, "jy moet hare op jou tande he" it's hard. But as always we bounce back, dust ourselves off and get back on track. So my friend, we will do this together!
Are you following a diet plan? logging your food on Spark? and have you got your exercise plan?
I'll go 1st - Food intake for my is fine, it's the sweet stuff that needs to go. Exercise has pick up again with summer, got into the pool last night for the first time :) and I'm planning to go to Pilates & Yoga classes from the 15th Dec(on leave then) for a month.

Hi everyone i am back again, need to loose some weight again !!!
I would have her wing clipped so she was easier to handle.She will most like try to bite for awhile too. Hi and happy New year to everyone here okay, I have had my new parakeet (gabby) for 1 week now. I try to touch her every day and even hold her but all she does is fly away from me and goes to other parts of her cage. I am not sure if I am scaring her or not using the right techniques. I don't want to stress her out. what should I do? How do I know if I am making her sick? what are warning signs for me to watch for? Everytime I try to play and talk to her my Maltese barks and barks at Gabby. would the dog barking scare her? It doesn't seem to bother her but I just don't know. I need help.

young birds have stripes that touch the top of their beak as they get older they fade.The top part of the beak where the nostrils are is called the cere.Male birds have a blueish color and females are a pale color.Here a a few links ..I always find pictures help

I have some green tomatoes wrapped in the closet. I am going to be so sad when they are gone. I still have lots of stuff I canned and froze for the Winter ,but nothing is like fresh. It is fun to watch a garden grow. I know when I first started the labyrinth everyone around here thought i was nutso.Now I too get many compliments and it feels like it was way worth it. It is one of the prettiest places around here.Not to mention all the wonderful fresh air sunshine and exercise :)

I saw with the pool how much we have to top up with, what a waste of water.

I give then large raw hides that take a long time for them to chew.I also buy whole cow hooves they are so gross. It takes forever to break them.Only one that could do it in one chomp was the old Rotti. They would wait for him to crack one and then they would steal his bits. LOL They miss him now...I get them from a company called Merrick's they sell lots of bidy parts for dogs over here.
I feel the same about my pond.The water evaporates so fast.I always seem to be adding water. Can't wait to be growing veggies again only thing left in my garden is my beets I have them mulched really good and keep praying they will get big enough to eat

Loads of fresh veggies here...can't wait to get my veggie patch going-been thinking of using the pond to grow stuff in instead of filling it up with precious water. My little lettuce container garden is doing great, so nice to pick my own :)! Ja, been wondering about the raw bones myself, but so far so good, been keeping an eye on them-no cooked bones ever because they can't digest that. What do you think of raw hide as a chewy toy/treat? I find the boxer must have something to chew on otherwise she gets up to mischief.

I just made regular corn bread and added all sorts of thing. Do you have frozen mixed veggies there? think it is peas carrots corn green bean and lima beans.Also added sunflower seeds and some nuts I would make a big pan of it .you can store it the freezer.Those frozen veggies alone were a yummy easy treat.HAHAHA My iguana loved them too. he was a neat fella.I bought the seed and dried fruit mixes in the health food store it was cheaper there.That was years ago. I feed my dogs kibble. Most of my dogs live a healthy life and stay around 12+ years so feel it is good enough for them.I have read different things about those raw diets some good some bad.Had several dogs in the clinic for bowel resections thanks to the bones :/ I think people have to do whatever they are the most comfortable with.

My seed eater was Jojo the conure that died, was a lot cheaper then because the senegal would eat the same. Now all the birds get the very expensive palm oil pellets(great for the feathers) and fruit pellets. The seed and dried fruit mix are also pricey but at least they only get that as a treat. We give them about 3-4 different fresh fruit/veg daily, this I don't mind because I have to have that in the house anyway...but the fresh green beans I buy specially for them! I'm going to make the corn bread with eggs & veg in-do I add a bit of flour&will it be "bad" if I add a few sunflower seeds? Maybe I can ease off on the pellets if they like the corn bread and I'll be able to put a gift for the humans under the Xmas tree..hahaha At least my dogs are on a "cheaper" diet, been adding chicken livers(raw)/cooked pumpkin(or sweet potatoes)& a leavy green veg to the pellets. Must say this saves a packet and their condition is tip top! oh I also give them raw chicken necks..are you freaking out yet? it freaked me out in the beginning-I'm vegetarian! According to those clever people, the pellets lack most nutrients even the very top of the range pellets...wonder why we still buy it, grr

I Peeled in the nest box and there were 3 little eggs..So guess we will have to wait and see what comes of them.. HAHA This is how I feed my animals. I breed the goats and chickens sell the babies off.Also sell eggs from the chickens.Adds up over time. My goofy birds are all used.. if I show them anything but seed they freak out. I tried giving the Quaker new things for a while and he will not even go near the bowls.So he eats plain Jane parakeet seed :( Still working at the tiels but so far seems to be the same with them:( In the past I would cook up extra beans and peas (dried) with added pasta and frozen veggies and freeze portions as treats for my birds.Also would make a corn bread with extra eggs and veggies in it.

Glad to hear that. I hate when they are down. I have them in a giant flight cage .My neighbor gave it to me in trade for bringing my goats over to clear some of the brush on her yard. It is a nice cage. Going to hang some nest boxes on it.Ya never know what might happen LOL

Hope your birdy is feeling even better today. Have been a bit under the weather. Sheesh my back is so shot again .I am going to seek an adjustment at the chiropractor tomorrow I do believe, We picked up 4 cockatiels from a women who was down sizing her flock. They are adorable.Also got another kitten and sold two goats LOL things are always changing around here.The kids are about ready to go to their new homes too.
I also believe a lot of the arguing critters do is all about position.The goats posture all the time.So funny okay going to lay down tomorrow is my Friday I am thrilled :)

Evil coyote, hate it when they start preying on easy food, they don't have to do that! enough in the wild to keep them going, grrrr! So glad you could pull turkey through, amazing how resilient the bird specie are. Only big problem really is infection, even in the wild you often see birds with one foot or skew beak surviving quite happily.
getting back to the two Senegals, I was so cross with Billy, poor Beebee's beak just healed beautifully after the last bite. Must say I was also surprised that so little damage was done this time, got a feeling Beebee is actually standing his ground with Billy so maybe the two will work it out in the end. Was watching a wildlife program the other day about scuffles and "fighting" between wild dogs and lions and the conclusion was that any animal will only kill for food, the stuff in between is just power play.

I have been nursing my favorite turkey he was attacked by a coyote. He lost a lot of feathers and has 2 wounds where the stupid thing got a bite. I was not sure he was going to make it .But he is holding his own and the wounds are filling in slowly and he is starting to regrow some feathers.:)

Hi everyone, i am back again from Natal, sold the house and got my old job back in Pta, will come and visit some more, need to loose some more weight. Hanna i am so glad to see you are still here!!!!! and some girls i recognise the names. Have a great day and hugs to all.
I just re-homed my parakeets and am seriously thinking about re-homing the lovebird ( she just wants to breed so she can have no toys and she BITES!!!! big time ) And the finches.I have been having some breathing trouble and am wondering if they are partly to blame.Chuckie the Quaker is a doll and he will be staying even if I need oxygen LOL It really is nice to see you back. Nice to be back and re-united with my friends!!! I am back to square #1 plus more. But I can do it!! I still have the canary, parakeets, cockatiel and quaker parrot. I did get rid of the 2 lovebirds before it caused me to go insane!!! Man, they are super duper noisy and loud. My quaker was acting up big time, so it was time to let them go. Everyone is fine and doing well. I need to catch up, so lets hear what I have been missing!!!!

Hello Again!!! I used to be on this site a while ago, under AVIARYGIRL7. I have selected a new name, as it is a new start, again!! Hoping I cn re-kindle the friendships that I left behind. I remember many of the names, so please help me on this long journey again. I still have my quaker parrot, cockatiel, 2 parakeets and canary. Also a springer spaniel and cat. Just a mini-zoo. Hi Patsy! LOL I nearly fell off my chair when I saw your name. So sorry about your Dad, my sincere condolences to you and the family. Good luck with the house, I agree with you-not the best time to sell but we live in hope it will pick up towards the end of the year.

Hi everyone Yes i am still around, don't have unlimited internet access anymore. Still having a hard time with the weight hahaha. I lost my dad in August last year and now i am sitting with this enormous house and i am not happy. Nino is so nervous it is not true, he is also not happy, I do have the house in the market but it is not the time for selling. Have a great day everyone, good luck with the weight loss. Morning :) Hoping Spring will show up soon. People here are pruning their roses and getting ready. Birds will also be breeding soon. Hummingbirds show back up in MArch/April. My Love bird breeds all by herself anytime she wants and is a meanie LOL How about by you ?
