John, if you will notice, the little icon thingy below the name says "Community Team MEMBER" not "Leader", so you are truly not missing out on much. It certainly isn't worth the hassle of the obligations, although lately, I've started to post on the "Panic Button" message board. You would be amazed at the number of people who say "I have (fill in the blank) in the house that I keep eating." Um.....then get rid of it (DUH)!

As I said, you are not missing much. I'm sure there are better uses for your time.

The only thing I miss is having the icon next to my name. But I guess that is a bit snobish of me. Maybe that is the bit about the community team we all object to. After all, we are all leaders.

Grace and Peace,
John

I couldn't keep up the requirements for the Community team either. I think after I joined they upped the required time, and I just couldn't check off all those boxes. Plus I got a lot of meaningless "welcome" or "I'm new" emails too, just too much to go thru for me. I get the idea of greeting new members and all, so I'm glad they have that for people who have the time, but it turns out it really wasn't for me.

Like some of the rest of you here, I prefer to keep up w/ my teams.

for what it's worth, I'm glad to have y'all on THIS team...maybe some of folks' "shortcomings" are what makes the team worthwhile--that we have many who value sincerity and who contribute in their own ways.

Maybe by the time we've gotten to maintenance, we've all found our own ways to "tweak" Spark to make it our own.

SARBAH77, I'm surprised that the link to be a Community Team Leader was gone from your Spark Points page. I say this because I had the link on there for a LONG time before I actually joined. I didn't know there was a time limit! LOL! So that was very interesting to hear that happened to you. Hmm...

I don't mind when people leave me comments on my page per se. I don't want to come across as anti-social :-) For example, when I join a new group, if the LEADER wants to welcome me to the team, that's fine. Or if someone says "I came across your page from a comment you left on a blog, thanks" or "I see you reached (a certain goal)". I'm fine with that. Comments like that are warranted, because I took the initiative.

It was just SO STRANGE to me that all these people bombarded my page with "Hi welcome!". WTF? (LOL, I guess I am a little anti-social.)

I usually don't add people as friends until I've been tracking either their blog or their progress/comments on a team for a while. Then I add them as friends so that I have a quick link to their page to see how they're doing.

It's kind of weird when people "friend" me and I have absolutely NO idea who they are or what they're doing.

I try to meet the requirements, but I don't always... I am a message board junkie, so I find the greeting people and forum posts are no problem. It's the comments on blogs and sparkpages that I have a hard time meeting, and I don't always blog -- only when I feel I have something blog-worthy.

Like LadyDonkey said, I think it's kind of weird and insincere to leave random comments on the pages of people you don't know. I usually limit my comments to blogs posted by fellow team members across the teams I am most active in.

I also think it's weird when random people "friend" me... I don't always friend them back, because I'd rather friend people I either actually know, or have gotten to know through the site.

I noticed that they took away the link for it on the SparkPoints page. I looked at the requirements and thought it was a little more work than I wanted to do at the time. Bummer for all of you, if you cared enough!!

I joined as a Community Team Leader but then I got all these "welcome" posts on my Spark page from people who didn't even really know what I'm about. It seemed rather insincere because I know it's one of the Leader requirements to welcome people (so I felt people were just using me to fulfill their obligation).

The other requirement is to post on the message boards and I prefer to post my comments on people's blogs and on Team pages (threads) instead. So I left. I still have the notation though, that I am a Leader.

I guess I'm too much of a nonconformist to be a Leader, LOL! :-)

I was a community team member for a while. I was also aware that I wasn't doing what I was suppose to do so I tried to give up the team but couldn't. eventually I got booted off. :-)

Just like you Roloha, I am spending a couple hours a day greeting team members, posting on blogs and sparkpages...just not the right ones. :-)

I didn't bother re-joining.

no, the SP Community Team is where they invite you after you've been Sparking for a while...I think 3 months ...they've lowered the time requirement since I started...after you are on the team there are things you have to do to stay on the team...like great so many newbies each week in the intro threads ...and if you don't then they boot you from the team. I spend alot of time on my different teams and greet lots of the new team members but that doesn't count...so it just wasn't something I could maintain participation with...

Don't feel bad...I was kicked off the minute I became ineligible and never invited back!

Well just in case you are wondering. They really do kick you off the community team if you don't meet the requirements for an extended period of time. After 9 consecutive months of not meeting the requirements, I finally got kicked off last week.

Grace and Peace,
John
