I got a survey, too. I indicated that we would like to see something more on maintaing.

I agree completely. Maintaining is really hard. I'm so happy to be maintaining, though. I've lost weight lots of times but have never been successful at maintaining. Even on Weight Watchers. They have something for maintaining, don't they? I think I always just so happy to have reached goal that I relaxed and I know I can't do that.

I am so not up to speed on how to use Sparkpeople, too, which makes matters worse. But better to be exercising, right???

Sparkpeople did a survey not too long ago. Did anyone else get that? I'm pretty sure I indicated we need more maintaining help on that.

Marg, Thanks for putting it out to the Spark IT team (guess that's what they're called) Let us know if they give you any personal feedback. I'll go look for the thread so I can third your suggestion.

That sounds like a good idea, I'll second yours and throw in that 4th step and maintainers need more help, in the way of what to do.

OK, on the Site/Technical Help message board, I started a thread: "Data Reports for Maintainers".

I posted this (adapted from nursemom):
I read this on a Maintenance Spark Team and think it would be great. Can SP do this?:
For the Check Up to be more useful, maintainers would track fruits, veggies, exercise, sleep and water in their quick track tool. Then during their checkup the computer could generate a report (or graph) and say...."Oh dear, Marg...you're hardly exercising at all, what's up???; or "where have all the fruits and veggies gone Marg??"
Then, whatever area you're falling short in, the computer can list the articles you need to read for motivation.
Thanks!
Marg.

NURSEMOMTOTHREE - I think you have something there. This is really a great database of info and if we put the data in, I'm sure the SP IT folks could have it spit out something like you suggested. I'll suggest it. Maybe others can too?

Uniflame....I got the same old message that you did.

Suebee, I agree about those that reach step 4 that haven't reached their goal. I used to think before, with a sinking feeling, what in the world am I going to do then? I haven't reached any sort of goal emoticon . And when I did go to maintainance, I thought...I really don't know how to maintain. More articles and how-to's should be set up.

I never get those pitfall e-mails, and a graph would be helpful.

In Stage Four, you should get an e-mail with a link every two weeks, called "Your Next SparkDiet Lifestyle Checkup." I just got mine today.

This link should work...

The only thing I can think of to make this tool more useful would require incorporating it with the "quick track" tool. Basically anyone that wants to use the pitfall prevention check up would be "required" to track fruits, veggies, exercise, sleep and water in their quick track tool. Then during your checkup the computer could generate a graph and say...."Oh dear, Rebecca...you're hardly exercising at all, what's up???" It would be more work for the maintainer, but it's all I can think of. Then, whatever area you're falling short in, the computer can list the articles you need to read for motivation.

I agree with pretty much everyone else. Can you go back and view previous checkups to really see the difference from the last one? (haven't seen anything that says you can). It seems that after you do the checkup, it is tossed out in the trash. I like all of the other graphs and charts and would never had made it without them and Spark.

I think the best support we have is each other and I'm not sure what else SP could do to improve? Exercise is my biggest weakness too. I use the pitfall checkup mainly to track my weight...although I did update my measurements recently too.

There are now some other teams set up for maintainers, by age-group..but, they seem to be gearing towards newbies who maybe aren't trying to lose weight but find the site useful?

I only use that tool to keep track of my weight progress. I do feel that, on the whole, it's useless. I mean, it doesn't tell you how to maintain. There should be something seperate for maintainers, I agree with that. Because sometimes your weight stays the same, but you know you're eating bad or not exercising. That tool gives one a false sense of security.

I do appreciate everything that Spark has done to help me get to this point though. I just think a little more should be done for maintainers.

Today I had another pitfall prevention checkup. Now I have to be honest, I was never that satisfied with the whole setup but this week does it.

I have gained some weight, I am doing awful on exercise and eating healthy, my energy levels have dropped since the last check up. So I fill that in.

The response I got was:
Consistency is what it's all about, and it looks like you're on the right track. This might be a good time to pay attention to on or two of those trouble areas.

On the right track? How? Where?
I'm getting more frustrated with this thing each time I take it.

I posted about it in the community team about it this time, hopefully if we keep asking long enough, it will improve indeed.

I put a post in the community forum asking for improvements to the pitfall prevention check-up, and got a "we'll look into it." It's a start. If you'd like to read or add to it, it's in Site/Technical Help, called "Pitfall Prevention" suggestion. Perhaps if lots of us tell them where the site is lacking, it'll get improved!

Maybe we should let the spark people coaches know that we feel that way. We need more help with maintaining. I read somewhere that maintaining is even harder then losing weight. I'm glad I have found this team though :) But some extra help from spark itself, would be welcome.

I agree with SUEBEE & RABBITOLM, it would be nice if it offered real maintenance or nutrition/fitness advice. This team is a great resource though, that's where I get most of the good advice! emoticon

That's the one thing this site lacks... true support for those of us who are maintaining. Our team is great, but that's because we MAKE it great. :D

I also think it is kind of useless. Lately I haven't been doing the prevention check up because it isn't very helpful. I like the suggestion of going back to stage 2 or 3 if I feel like I need to get back on track. I track my food on a regular basis - everyone doesn't need to do this, but I find it helpful. I know that I would eat way too many calories if I didn't!

I use it, but I do find it kinda useless. Usually I'm on the right track, sometimes it's improving, sometimes I need work, but yeah, I do find it doesn't do much useful.

If I were to suggest any improvements to it, I'd say have an article each time relating to maintenance, or some trivia or health tidbits, or some information other than "so far so good."

I feel the same that it is useless to me as well to keep on track. What I do every time I reach stage 4, I back up to stage 2 or 3 again. Each time I back up I readjust my goals. Works for me

I just had my forth or fifth pitfal prevention checkup. And it gave the same feedback each time I answered the questions even though I hardly exercise anymore and I gained a kilo in the past week.

I always says I'm on the right track (all though I dont feel that way) and that I should just post at least one message and track my food for two days. Obviously thats not the problem, its exercise for me.

I know this is computer generated but I feel that checkup is the only useless thing that spark has. It doesnt help me at all. I dont know about you, but I would love to hear some opinions about it. And if more of you think this check up can use some improvement, maybe we can think of ways how and post them in the community team so at least spark knows it.

But if I'm the only one who feels this way, there is no point. That is why I'm asking for opinions :)
