Staci24, I hear you loud and clear. I got as low as 135 but my body seems to vastly prefer the 138-140 range and I don't feel like fightening it. As it stands (when I was ranting to a friend), one of my friends pointed out that I could wear a corset (long story, corset night for a concert is being planned?!) and look better than everyone else. And she's not the type to say thing to butter people up! That was a shock but a good one and made me feel better about where I am.

I had set 125 as my goal weight, but it just seems that my body wants to be around 129-131 so I'm going with it. I'm not beating myself up over a few pounds when I feel great and my clothes aren't tight. Sounds like we're all sort of in the same place right now! Feels good to be satisfied with my body image right now, that's for sure!

Thanks to everyone for the support. It is interesting to see how hard it is for all of us to know that we are fit and helthy, but that darned scale is pulling us back here and there. I think I am going to end up settling here with this weight for a while. Just that little bit ahs take off the sharp edges and mostly I FEEL good. And I am going to be working for WW and they actually weighed me at my interview. Now that was a first!

Of all our former bad habits, reacting to the weight on the scale is probably THE hardest habit to change. On the one hand it shouldn't matter, but, on the other hand, we should be mindful of what the scale is doing. Don't let yourself be pulled in by your mind telling you the lowest number you've seen is now the place you ought to stay - sounds like below 110 may be too thin? If you feel great and look great and you're eating right, where you are is where you should be... if I get out of my range in either direction, up or down I look at the cause and start paying closer attention to all the elements of my program again...usually I am back in my "happy place" before too long....

GardenChick: I admire that you are SO in-tune with your body and what makes it feel good, better, best. Trust that, and not some stupid number on a scale! (I say this b/c I'm trying so hard to live by this idea myself, not b/c I've figured out how!)

Hi Gardenchick, Just from chatting with you, I'd say you are a well conditioned woman living in a well tended body. You are strong...your running record is proof enough. A couple of pounds either way really shouldn't matter....after you resolve your hamstring problem, you'll be back to where you were before.

I've also had trouble making that transition from using the scale as a measure of success. I know that even though I'm two pounds above my goal weight, I have less fat and more muscle, and my clothes are loose, so it's all good. But something deep in my brain still feels when I see that number. When I feel that way, I go through a mental checklist of all the ways I look and feel better and all the progress I have made.

I need to get back to seeing food as fuel not thinking about it constantly. I am just always thinking food. And I eat enough. Trust me, lol. My clothes are still fine and my veins are not as prominent in my lower abdomen. The sharp edges of my pelvic bones are a little less sharp too. This weight thing is just so confusing, lol. Up, down, happy, not happy, body image, there is soooo much to it. But I am still happy that I am in maintenance and getting time to work on my mind now that my body is better.

Laura..Irish Angel is right. I have also gained several pounds in the past few weeks. It upsets me a little but I still feel great and my clothes still fit. I still hope to get back down a little but while I am long distance running (like you are) I just don't think I should worry as much about counting calories..am focusing more on food as fuel...

I say its more about how you feel and less about the number. If you happen to feel better with 3 extra pounds then don't question it. When you get back to your routine you might loose those pounds, or you might gain another few if you're focusing on stregnth training. As long as you feel good and like the way you look, I wouldn't worry about the number on the scale too much.

Ok, so I gained 3 pounds so I am now at my low end goal weight. I have been below it for a few months. I am a bit puzzled by it to be honest. I really feel good! I am sleeping better, have a bit more energy and just plain feel good. Can 3 pounds make that much difference? I have been on myself to get back under control and get back to 105-106, but now I am not sure on it. I just hope I am not using this as a mind excuse to not do the work. But since I am still hurting with the hip and hamstring I really can't go for a run so I have a few more days to test the theory.

Anyone else have any thoughts or experience with this?
