All of these ideas sound yummy. I am going to give it a try. I, too, get so bored with the same old 100-calorie snack bars, yogurt, etc. This sounds like a great healthy alternative.

I thikn on the next batch I will cut a bit on the fruit and add more almonds. It is almost too sweet for me for that type of snack.

Great thread Garden..

I have been making my own trail mix for a long time. I carry a small tupperware with about 1/3 cup of it in my purse everyday to snack on when I get hungry. Some things I like are

Dried cranberries, blueberries, cherries, raisins, apricots
Raw almonds, walnuts, pistachios, cashews
Seeds - pumpkin, sunflower

I was going to use Cheerios at first, but spent some time in the cereal aisle to see where I could bang for my buck with a good sized portion with low cals and some fiber. Fiber one came in at 60 cals for 1/2 cup. Not too shabby. I would prefer more protein, but want to keep the cals down. I could use my Kashi high protein too. There are just too many options, lol.

I suppose you could add your favorite cereal, and just alter amounts to keep it in the range you want it to be in.
Great idea Gardenchick!!!! I'll be trying to make my own soon.

Sounds really good, I will definitely give it a try...

I love Cracklin' Oat Bran but that probably adds more calories.....

I hadn't seriously considered making my own, but your recipe sounds good, healthy and super easy. Think I'll try it out. If I think of other ingredients to add or another way to make it, I'll let you know. Thanks.

I just made my first trail mix and it is pretty yummy. Simple too.

1/4c fiber one cereal
1T dried Cherries
1T golden raisins
1/2T sunkist slivered honey roasted almonds

131 calories and pretty filling. I was getting bored with all the 100 cal bars so I went for it. I think it will turn out pretty cheap too,

Anyone else have any ideas?
