Just a little bit of encouragement from an "older" woman!!! I went from a tight 40D to a loose 34B. Personally, I did not like being large chested...in fact, I hated it and MUCH prefer the 34B. EXCEPT that they are very saggy. I had 4 babies in 5 years and nursed them all for 10-11 months. I think that stretched me out and there was just no elasticity remaining.

So, ladies, even if you are an A cup, if you have some "tone" to your boobs, be HAPPY!!! I look okay with a good bra but it's NOT a pretty sight a la natural!

By the way...just to chime in on the original topic of this thread... My original goal weight was 110 which is pretty thin for 5'5" but is necessary for a medical problem I am dealing with. Due to one of my medications, I've continued to lose weight and as of last Friday I was 105 lbs. My doctors have told me that they would prefer I stay 108-110 but as long as I don't go under 103, they will not be too concerned. (I feel like I've lost since my last weigh in but didn't have time to weigh in this morning...I overslept!) I'm getting so many rude comments from people who seem to be either questioning my honesty or my doctors' (there are several who are treating me) credibility. I almost feel like I need to carry around a signed report verifying my treatment. I know MOST people mean well...I guess I just get tired of defending myself when I don't feel that great anyway.

Sorry for going off on that!!! Just felt like venting today!

DH has me doing some exercises with the cable machine at the gym. Stand with the cables at shoulder height and extend your arms parallel to the floor. Then bring your arms directly around in front of you, squeezing the chest as you do. You will feel that right away! I also do bench presses and flys. I am seeing some progress.

Hi Denise. I do a lot of my chest exercises with the bands and find pushups, fly's and chest press to be very effective. I have a very nice chest actually, just no breasts, lol.

I just read through the whole thread and thought I would chime in - I haven't gone below my original goal but am hovering around 122, which is good for me. When we get closer to vacation in June, I may try to shed the other 3 pounds.

Seems we come back to the gone with the weight - breast issue! I was a 36A for most of my life (not counting when I was heavier or nursing babies) but am now buying 34As in teen stores! I like the price plus the minimal padding. I used to buy VS bras and do like their Pink line but I just look stupid tryign to push up something that's not there.

DH has been working with me in the gym to replace the lost tissue with muscle - had a few really good chest exercise days and have come to the place where I don't mind smooshing them to nothing with a compression bra or shirt if I am working out or exercising. At least I am not bouncing out of my clothes like some of these poor girls!

I am beyond silly looking. And the underwires are cutting into my breast bone. Hard! I have been trying on new ones, but they all come full of padding if you are an A cup. And I have been married 6.5 years. He knows what size I am and I don't care about anyone else seeing them. I just want some comfort. I am about to get cotton 1/2 style workout bras and just go that route. I am scared of having my "head lights" on or I would just quite wearing them all together, lol.

It just gets so defeating to have people tell you you are too thin. I noticed at the bar this weekend, hubby's band played, that women he mentioned were about the size I left behind. Kind of hard to deal with. But, I am happy with what I have done and feel much healthier and full of energy. I kind of drive some people crazy like a little yippy dog some days. Last night with our running group I ran 4 miles to get there and ran 5 with them putting me about a 1/2 mile from home in the end. They just shake their heads that I have the pace still. As long as I feel happy and I am not struggling to keep a weight I am happy. My clothes feel great. Well, except my bra, but the rest is good.

He doesn't see me weigh, but he will ask or look at my Sparkpage occasionally. I did get my body fat tested and told him I still had plenty of fat left, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. It's probably coming from guilt because he doesn't exercise. He bought an elliptical but doesn't use it. I think I need to just do what I want to do and not try to please him. I know that I'm training and eating correctly and that I'm not too skinny.

Hey Michelle..why don't you just hide the scale so only you see it? Or go get your body fat measured and come back with an expert opinion. I guess I am lucky..my dh hasn't said anything...but then he has some weight to lose himself. For me, its just a few relatives who I rarely see and some casual acquaintances so I can deal with it.

I get some of this... my hubby would love for me to gain back some of the weight, but mostly because I lost a couple of cup sizes and he misses that (LOL). If I could spot gain and spot lose, I would! At work some say that I am too skinny, but most think I look great (it took awhile though for them to go from the "too skinny" camp to "you look great".) My dad says I look the best he's ever seen me. The doctor says I'm doing great. So I've stopped worrying... but it is irritating to have so many people voice opinions, especially to tell me I'm too thin! I think part of it is people just have to get used to you looking different!

I originally set a goal weight of 129 but wasn't satisfied with how I looked or felt, so I changed it to 124. Then I dropped to 120...then 116. I felt scrawny at 116, so now I've settled for a range of 116 to 120. Even still, at this height and age (5'3", 51), I get some people who tell me I'm too thin and some that say I'm just right, but the ultimate judge is me and I'm pleased. Over 120, I feel puffy and sluggish. Under 116, I feel puny and weak. So I not only have a scale to guide and clothes to guide, I also have a physical sensation and that's something completely new.

For the folks who have so many opinions, I generally thank them for their interest/concern, but shrug off the comments. My health is great. My doctor is thrilled. And I'm content and very, very satisfied with living in this body now.

I figure, it's my "house" and I can remodel it any way I darn well please myself (as long as I don't trash the place!).

Does anyone else get pressure from your family to keep your weight up? I know that I am not too skinny. My body fat is over 20% and my BMI is in the middle of the healthy range. But my husband thinks I am running too much and eating too little, despite the fact that I eat at least 1800 calories a day. I feel like my weight would naturally go below 120, but my husband is constantly asking me how much I weigh. How do you deal with this?

I am having the same thing happen to me..I set my goal at 120 since I am 49 and didn't think I could get much below that..now I am at 116. I am not trying to diet but just don't want to put the bad stuff into my body anymore. I was 113 at my fittest in my 30's so who knows, maybe my body wants to be there. And I am a runner (and never have run before) so that might make a difference also.

I do not look bony or skinny and I am definitely not hungry. I have stopped using the nutrition tracker. I believe that your body will settle in where it is comfortable. To fight to stay at a certain number is crazy..sometimes I wish we could just throw away those scales!

Well I haven't been fortunate enough to have that problem! I hit goal weight, then gained a pound or two! Heavy sigh.

But Bessie is right, I think you just need to do what you're comfortable with. The whole maintenance mentality is really hard to handle. We've trained ourselves over the course of the past several months or even years to lose, lose, lose. It's very difficult, mentally, to stop that trend! But I really do want to prove to myself that I CAN stop losing and STAY at the same weight. So I am comfortable with where I am at. I don't want to keep losing, because to me, that isn't the same as maintaining.

Hugs,
Lori

JHTATROE THE MAIN THING HERE IS TO ASK YOUR SELF IF YOU THINK YOUR HAPPY AND HEALTHY WITH STILL LOSING WEIGHT. IF YOU ARE THEN KEEP UP WHAT YOUR DOING IF NOT ADD ABOUT 300 CALORIES A DAY. AND FROM THERE IF YOUR STILL LOSING KEEP ADDING A LITTLE CALORIES EACH WEEK.

GOOD LUCK,

I had that happen and that is why my weight dropped 10 lbs below my original goal. I had to adjust the calories manually to 200 calories more than the tracker recommended. I believe this is because my metabolism was burning faster than expected (added muscle most likely). When I was no longer able to work out as much as I wanted this winter, I went back down to the tracker recommended values to stop from gaining... I did set my fitness levels correctly too so the only thing I can figure is from my BMR going up.

I am about 4 pounds under my goal of 112. I have been trying to get a couple back on, but I am running more again and hitting the elliptical to cross train and work on my legs so it is hard to adjust my intake and output. I will get it figured out, but yes I think it is very common.

Well, it did happen but now the reverse is true.

I do think the best thing is to be happy, eat well and if your weight isn't frighteningly low then give it some time to see where it plateaus. If it starts to get too obvious though, then you could start eating calorific stuff on purpose (Mackerel is good, peanut butter I've heard some people say they use to add calories etc) but they're only things I've heard/read.

I do recognise that I can hardly offer advice when I'm falling off the wagon and I can't even tell where/why.

I don't know what's going on. I'm trying to get back to 'losing mode' so I can get back to 'goal' and maybe then I'll try doing it differently.

Good luck with it though.

Paula

I know... what a thing to be complaining about!

Based on the BMI charts and what I know of where my body looks best, I set a 5-pound maintenance range for myself. I've had to up Spark's calorie recommendations a couple of time, but I've found a range where I'm comfortable with how much I'm eating and my weight was remaining steady. Was.

Last weigh-in, I was down another 1.5 pounds below my goal range! Has this happened to any of you? How do you handle it? Do I lower my goal? Try to eat more? Just make peace with it and let my body find its equilibrium?

Jenn

My goal is to get back to 168 (within my healthy weight range) after a stressful relocation.
