Maree I was just thinking the same thing when I was up at 5am this morning. Autumn makes me want to just snuggle back in even if our temps are in the 70's. Something about the change in the light. And Poohscout I want to bring out my stew and casserole recipes.
Over the cold got out for a 2 mile walk and will up it to 3 tomorrow. Trying to make good choices for food, within calories but just. Tomorrow will be better

I stayed within calorie range yesterday. It's a start! Junk food day at work, I brought a lower calorie lunch so that I can indulge a little if there is something I really like. (Nacho Cheese Doritos) I have a rehearsal until late tonight. I don't really want to do it, but I said I would and my voice is needed. I'd rather stay home where it's warm and dry.
Phebess – Scuba diving sounds like fun, and you get to torch all those calories! Fun, fun, fun! I will too indulge a little bit after all that! Kellie – Sounds like you are giving me a deadline to get my beach bod in shape.
Celia – I agree that we are predisposed to eat more this time of year to prepare for the winter’s shortage of food. Maybe I am off here, but even other animals chunk up a bit during this time. At least my cats do!

i also struggle in the late fall and winter because i crave food that sticks to your ribs and warms you up. In otherward the hearty stuff. I believe its due like you said to the colder weather and winter coming that our bodies change. I just try and stick to a routine that keeps the calories burning.

Maree, I agree about being hungry this time of year. I've always felt like autumn is a time to "nest," and despite being far from our caveman roots, I think we as a species still carry that internal memory of needing to prepare for the hardships of winter.
LOL Phoebess - I'd give up the extra nutrition for a chance to scuba dive in the south seas. Woo woo that sounds like fun.
It's true - i want heartier food and maybe more of it in the colder months but I've always reached my goal during Christmas or in the late winter - so there you have it. Our Internet was down so I couldn't log on at home today. Major heavy duty strength workout today - all chest and I can barely lift my arms right now. I'm drinking extra water today for sure. Lawsie I hope I can stay awake today. LOL
It is possible you are on to something. The past few days I have been super hungry. I did not link the cold to the drive to eat more. Might be right.
Regardless the three of us seem to get up pretty much the same time everyday. I seem to only manage six hours of sleep a night no matter how tired or beat I am when I go to bed. I've adjusted to it fort he most part.
Thursday today. Lot's to do when it comes to errands and cooking. But, we always start the day around here with coffee then exercise. Today is a cardio day for me. That said it suppose to be as little shorter than two hours.. We'll see.

Do you suppose the reason so many of us are struggling with staying on track is our bodies' natural reaction to colder weather--to pack on weight to stay warm? Or the mind's strong memory of holiday indulgences?
I'm fighting it off with a 60 min walk in 30 degree temp with fitness buddy and then 60 min Intensity HIIT class at the gym. For me I know that I can't out-exercise a bad diet and sugar is not my friend.
