The granola bars are back in the box in the basement closet, where, because of all the preservatives, they will probably last forever. Hubby occasionally has one, I don't like them. I'd gladly throw them out.

I'm good until it's time to bake for Christmas, about Dec 20th.

I'm with HOUNDLOVER1. I don't let that stuff into my house. If it isn't good for me, why on earth would I feed it to children?!

Here's what I had on hand. And they are very cute!

Ah yes, Nov. 1 the big candy sale. 50% off or more all Halloween candy. I remember backin my unhealthy days, getting up early and hitting the stores. I though nothing of buying over $100.00 worth of Hershey kisses, chocolate and Necco wafers People use to get mad at me because I wouldn't leave very much on the shelves. One store tried limiting me and I told them show me the sign the says there is a limit. They couldn't do it. It would last me until Christmas sale. Yes, I was a candy addict.

I'm glad Halloween is over. It was a small candy binge when I was a kid, but nothing like today. I only had 5 trick or treaters.

I've really enjoyed hearing about people's candy tastes. The hardest day of all is today, though - when all that sugary temptation goes on sale. LOL

All kidding aside tho, researchers and science goes into designing combos of food, like fat and sugar, to get just the right mouth feel etc.
These foods are addictive, there is no doubt about it. That's why when you cut them out for awhile you will see that they start to taste too sweet to you.

We also don't get many trick or treaters to speak of, so I do have a small cache of not at all tempting to me candy on hand just in case somebody comes by. Its stuff my husband and kid like, though my kid isn't all that interested in candy generally. My biggest temptation are probably malted milk balls, but I also love things like smarties and sweet tarts.

We did have a big Halloween event at work which mostly consists of trick or treating on the campus grounds- this year I asked to hand out a non-candy alternative to avoid being tempted by the candy bucket that day. They gave me polka dotted pencils with super colorful erasers to distribute. Kids & parents alike were excited to get them.

I don't get any trick or treaters. I live on the third floor and they don't like climbing stairs I guess. I most certainly am not going down them. Tonight there is a big party downtown, so I doubt there will be any goblins on the street. No candy in the house, none, zero, nada.

I like chocolate. Prefer straight very dark chocolate, but milk chocolate will do in a pinch.

For Halloween, I buy the items I really dislike - Twix (I hate wafers), candy corn (way too sweet), a few things like that. So I'm not even tempted.

(I do keep the LIndt 99% chocolate bars in the fridge. I'll eat a few squares after dinner - about 20-30 calories worth - keeps me happy and away from higher calorie chocolates.)

Bess--I buy one bag of candy corn a year, eat it all in a couple of days and that lasts me until the next year! We don't get many trick-or-treaters and I used to buy peanut M&Ms because they're my husband's favorite and they don't thrill me. This year I bought things I like, but I'm usually pretty careful and my husband finishes things off before I get out of control!

Reese's Peanut Butter cups is my favorite. I do keep candy around, as my hubby is 5 foot 9 and weighs maybe 117 on a heavy day. He lost some weight, when I was loosing weight and needs to make sure he doesn't loose anymore. I know if I eat any, then I have to track it and that tends to keep me from eating it. For me, it comes down to chocolate ice cream with a bit of added chunky peanut butter or a candy bar and ice cream always wins.

Chocolate- esp almomd joy, kit kat & snickers. So I only buy non-chocolate candy or chocolate bars I don't like (butterfingers, twix)

After I had that BAD, HORRIBLE DUMP last Thanksgiving, I'll only have the tiny-est taste if I'm ABSOLUTELY DESPERATE to have that sugary candy/food.

NOTHING could taste good enough to make me go thru those hours of gut pain and nausea again! emoticon It was WAY WORSE than having kids!

I don't understand you lucky ladies that can keep chocolate nearby and not eat. Mine are PB cups, almond joys and especially twix. My DH is a sweetaholic and buys bags and bags. There is a special cupboard in the kitchen that he keeps it in and I'm not allowed in it. If I don't know I'm not tempted. I'm going to spend the night my daughters house and go with my grandsons trick or treating. It will be a challenge!!

I eat so little sugar that if I do give into that rare urge to eat a Reeses or something it taste absolutely HORRIBLE to me! It's like eating a big scoop of pure white processed sugar.
My husband always has candy around, his bedside table is full of many, many kinds of candy bars and hard candy. In mine you will find a single bar of Lindt dark chocolate that once in awhile I break off one or two squares of.
Halloween is just another day out here in the boonies.

Anything that has sugar and fat in it is addictive to me. Sugar is poison to me and I don't have it in the house. I can usually resist the temptation nowadays but I still don't want to play with fire. If I want to give kids treats they are little toys from the dollar store, for kids I know personally something bigger that's an age-appropriate toy.
If Mc Donald's gives away toys to make kids eat their food I can give toys to avoid handing out candy. emoticon

I have to stay away from Reeses under any and all conditions. It's the only candy that I love, and can't control so don't start. I give out granola bars rather than candy, the kids are grown and gone, so I can stay safe through Halloween.

Since I don't deny myself anything including candy, it doesn't bother me much. I have 2 8oz Hershey bars in my drawer next to me that my husband bought for Christmas last year. Just knowing they are there is reassuring to me. Occasionally I pull them out to look at them and have some, but just holding it and reading the nutritional label then determining what I will have to give up eating if I have some of it, means that I have not even opened them. emoticon

I buy candy that doesn't tempt me too much. We usually don't get trick or treaters but DH enjoys Halloween candy so I get it for him.

My biggest temptation is Gertrude Hawke peanut butter cups and smidgens. I usually only buy them a couple times a year.

My biggest struggle is anything "Butterfinger". Gave out bite sized candies for Trick or Treat, putting a few Butterfingers away in couple of drawers for later date treats.

Even though I am in Asia. I can't get away from halloween candy.

What is your biggest struggle?

What do you do to avoid it?

- PB cups for me.

still working on my plan. I may go to the one a day. Or put two aside for a future date if I don't eat any. (then I usually give them away.)
