I'm still working on upping my carbs and my cals. So far I've got my carbs in range along with my other stats. I have upped my cals from 1200 to 1400-1500 and my weight is stable. I'll stay here for a couple of weeks and up it again to 1500-1600. Hopefully I'll be able to get myself out of starvation mode. I'm starting to get my appetite back so that's a good sign.
Things on the home front are improving also. I haven't told anyone about that but it's just nice to know its getting better.
Poor Kellie! That's way too much grief for one week. Today is the first day of my birthday "stay-cation". I'm getting the worst over this morning, going to get my license renewed. You can do it by mail or on line, but it's been over 10 years since I had a new picture. It's time! Then I'm getting my haircut. Sounds backwards, but hey, it'll look more natural! My weight is still much higher than I want it to be, but I was surprised that it wasn't higher when I got up and my ring had left a purple dent in my finger. It must have just been sitting crooked, because my hands aren't THAT swollen. Tonight my birthday celebration begins with a concert--one of my favorite from my adolescence, Roger Hodgeson, the voice of Supertramp. My husband is going under duress. I told him I'd go by myself if I had to, but made it pretty clear that I'd be upset if he wouldn't do this ONE thing that was REALLY IMPORTANT to me. (Aren't women awful sometimes?)
Hi all - it's the first time I've posted to a check-in thread.
I've been baffled by the scale creeping up the past several weeks, even though I'm eating within my calorie range and keeping up with my exercise (which is quite moderate). I was gratified this morning when the scale was down .4, but we'll just have to see. I wonder if it has been due to any of the following:
a. reduced walking (down from 10K steps/day due to minor ankle twist)?. I doubt that my walking burned that many extra calories, though. b. pre-menstrual? I'm 49, so my cycles are completely erratic; sometimes my cycles are like clockwork, and then I'll go 6 months without a period c. beans - both of the last 2 weeks I ate beans 3 days in a row. d. too few calories? I was eating 1500-1550/day when walking 10K steps/day, and reduced it to 1450-1500 when I hurt my ankle. After all these years of maintenance, it's still a bit scary to go over 1500 calories/day.
Has anyone experienced this? Usually when I gain weight it's pretty obvious why, but this time has me stumped.
In any case, I'm hoping to eat a little low in my range this week, as we've got a road trip and family reunion this weekend, which is bound to involve FOOD.

My week is starting out on a down note. Yesterday I was at the wake of a co-worker. This morning we are leaving work for the funeral, then after work is the wake of another co-worker's wife.
The week can only get better right?! I did the SP 28 Day Bootcamp 30 Min Total Body Challenge DVD yesterday. I LOVE that one!
Good morning, sparkers! I have my sister in town, and she's always been able to maintain her weight with intuitive eating and exercising for fun. She thinks my choices are a bit extreme, because I still track my food after a year and a half and work out 6 days a week from 90 min to 2 hours (my choice to relieve stress, not because I feel I "have" to.) I love my sister, who is a dietician, but I am meeting a friend at the gym at 5:30 so I can be home in time to be ready when she wakes up. It would be much easier to just eat like her all week and only exercise 3 times, but I know that the scale would change a lot in that week. Thanks for the safe place to keep doing what has been working for me without judgement, sparkers!!

Yay Maree - looks like you'll have your DH around for many more birthdays. Ooooo Toni! a beach vacation - I LOVE a beach vacation. I'm smiling with you Deadcenter - I had a good Monday weigh in too - though I didn't deserve it. Lougold - hope the PT session makes you feel wonderful.
We have had a long happy family reunion weekend. Yesterday I didn't get much exercise in but I did take the most amazing afternoon buggy ride all over a part of the county where some of our family originated. 9 of us went from house to house site to house at a 4 mile an hour clip-clop. Then it was back to my house for dinner on the porch. It was a splendifferous day.
Today is the first day of 2 weeks of heavy duty training at work for all sorts of New Things. I'm on a very low calorie vegetarian food plan till Friday when we will be partying again at a family wedding. What a foodie August I'm having.

I with you, DEADCENTER. Isn't it wonderful to wake up on a Monday and be pleased with the numbers on the scale? I even managed to drop a few ounces on a family birthday celebration weekend....and even after eating at Olive Garden yestesrday! WOOHOO! That's a first!
Toni, it should be no problem getting in some fitness when you are on vaction - I'm sure you won't even realize that all that walking in sand and swimming and playing with the littles IS actually FITNESS since you'll be having so much fun. Safe travels to you!

I'm up and about to head out the door for 4 miles with my fitness buddy. I always feel good the day I get this time in early. Made tortilla soup last night, a healthy menu item that my dh and I both like. It was a nice way to end the weekend.
Now onto the workweek and prep to go on vacation at the beach starting next Saturday. Looking forward to all our children and grandchildren in one place, except my college bound son who will be leading wilderness treks with climbing sections for the freshman orientation program at his school. Proud of him.
Hoping to pack in exercise the next couple of weeks. Hee haw!! (-:

I'm headed to the gym for 30 min cardio and 60 min ST class.
Monday is a pure protein day for me.
Yesterday was DH's birthday. Since January He's lost about 55 lbs and joined the gym doing boot camp-type classes 5 mornings a week, runs 3.3 mi in less than 30 min two days a week and walks after dinner most evenings, plus better food choices. He gave himself the best gift ever--better health! Super proud of him!
