We had a tornado warning yesterday. A tornado! Had to go around securing everything... by the time I was done the warning had been removed. I felt sort of relieved, only sort of because if it happened once, it can happen again...
All packed and ready to head north as soon as the oldest gets off work. We'll divide the 13 hour drive in half this time. We're getting a hotel for the night, doing a little shopping and then continuing on to the great Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Keweenaw here we come. The grandparents and aunties are all waiting for us.
It's a little sad thinking this may be one of our last family vacations with all of the kids. They are growing up way too fast!

After recording twice that I got too late to work out, I decided to take action. So this morning I worked out first thing, and it woke me up. Crashed into a siesta after an early lunch. Woke still feeling shattered and good for nothing. So took the dogs out and came back feeling better. . Made a ginger cake yesterday, and an artichoke leaf quiche, which I enjoyed for breakfast. Cals have been high, but scales not complaining! Am managing 5 vegs easily, tend not to manage more than 5 grains. The last week or so has been stressful. Have applied for a permanent residence permit and problems crop up, ranging from new regulations and new form and more documents required, to risk of needing permit from employment office to do voluntary work, to the computer having recorded the wrong date of birth. The authorities are keen to help, which is a great blessing. It hasn't always been so. My application has now been approved and sent to the capital. I now have a provisional document, when I get round to collecting it, and within the next month I hope to have the final document - unless further problems surface... So there's still stress. which doesn't help my sleeping pattern....
Poor Celia! I think I would have broken down about half way through that commute..."I just want to be HOME!" I'm a slow starter this morning as we were out late. Saw Paul McCartney in concert. Wow. Now back to earth. On the subject of alcohol, have any of you noticed that your capacity has diminished? I'm learning that I really shouldn't drink my first drink on an empty stomach. My husband doesn't drink at all, so it's not a big part of life for me. Most times it just isn't worth the calories. Like the other evening I was short on calories for the day and thought, "I could have a glass of wine...no, wait, there's fudge!"

Getting a late start to the day. Got a little extra rest (MUCH needed), but missed the long training run. Really hoping this podiatrist appt will bring some relief for my feet. Weight still holding steady. Going to watch it really close today since will be going out with sis tomorrow for her birthday dinner.

Back from town, where I got a haircut and stopped by the farmer's market. Sweet corn and peaches in season.
Feeling very connected these days - and full of SparkLove - I blogged about it earlier this morning. Precious clouds are blocking the scorching heat of the past few days and tomorrow it's supposed to be even nicer. Hope you are all having a sweet summer weekend.
Scale still shows steady after my extravagances at the beach the past 2 days. Yippee.

Morning all! Today is my happy day, because after I do some yoga here shortly, I am walking down to the Farmers Market. Fresh local produce, live music, and friends - what's not to love? Plus there's always something new there to inspire a dish for the week. I'll need to pick something light for tonight, since yoga is my main workout of the day and my calorie recommendation is on the low side as a result (I'm using the new calorie tracker).
Yesterday was pretty rough, but I'm trying to put it behind me and relax this weekend!
Glad to hear everyone is doing well. Celia, I post on a thread called "Reduce (not eliminate) alcohol". We would've all agreed, you deserved some wine after that day!
Got my running gear on, now just need to get out the door. We have been working on teaching the girls how to ride their bikes. Wow! I didn't think it would be so hard. I watched a video on youtube (my generation can't do anything without consulting the net!) and we have a new plan for tonight.
Everyone have a great day!
~Mandy~ I'll make it to the moon, if I have to crawl.

Toni, I LOVE sushi, but you're right, you still have to choose wisely. Kelliebean, in spite of the heat, it sounds as if your motorcycle trip was fun.
Yesterday was one to forget. Non-stop at work, and a late telcon made me miss my train by less than 5 seconds (ran off the platform escalator just as the doors closed), which in turn made me miss my bus. Next train broke down, adding additional delay and made me miss the second bus. Finally got on third bus, which was packed with a whole lot of sweaty, smelly people (including me) for the long ride from DC to Woodbridge. Result: 5 seconds added 30 minutes to my commute on a day I was frantic to get home in time to crisis clean for MIL's arrival today. Managed to get the guest room and bath in shape, and just when I thought I could rest and finish cleaning this morning, guess who called from less than 10 miles away and lost (Garmin died)? Sigh. Broke my no wine streak.
Mornin all. I'm back from my seven-day motorcycle trip. The heat was bad all through Michigan, Toronto, Ontario and back. Add a hot motorcycle underneath you and some slow construction traffic and I think I sweated off everything I ate!
I'm going to attempt a short run this morning. I'm a little stiff. We'll see how it goes.
Went out with my husband and son for sushi last night. I made good choices and enjoyed the food. I'm just learning about sushi, thanks to my college age son. It's fun to learn from him and to see his food preferences grow and develop.
Did not have a good fitness day so will be back at it today. I'm in a mindful place about food and exercise right now and it is lovely. I am feeling calm.
Have a good Saturday everyone and enjoy the weekend. Go Nationals! (We are going to a game tonight with friends.)

I'm up early while the house is all quiet (of course, it was the dogs and cat who woke me up and now they are taken care of, happy and back to sleep), drinking a freshly brewed cup of coffee and getting a jump on the day. I need to pay some bills and straighten up while granddaughter is asleep.
DH, DD and I tossed about plans of going to the gym as DH's guests in his "Art of Strength Class", or running...not sure what was decided, but we'll do something. I still feel that glute muscle I pulled at the last 5K, but otherwise I am feeling fit and strong. :)))
Looking forward to the cooldown the weatherman promised, but didn't feel it when I let the dogs out. I hope everyone has good weather for going to the beach (Bess, I'm jealous) and motorcycling (wonder how Kellie is doing) and gardening and running races and all that us maintainers do to maintain and live life to the fullest! Go Team!!
